A fan on DC Inside posted these two brief accounts from friends of new ROK recruits who serve with Rain, on 11/25.
Oh, there is so much I could say about these. But I’ll behave myself. (I’ll tell you who was really green with envy—the poor guy(s) group-showering with Mr. MENtholatum China. Talk about giving somebody an inferiority complex. kekeke) 😛
SO glad to hear about Clouds writing Rain’s fellow recruits, too! 😀
During a recent telephone conversation with my friend, I was absolutely green with envy when I heard something about his taking a shower with Rain. Also, I heard Rain is a very nice guy.
According to my friend, Rain snores while being deeply asleep, and he (Rain) is a very decent guy. Of course my friend fancies the pants off Rain. And, my friend was delighted that even he had received letters from Rain’s fans.
B.
내친구가 비느님이랑 같은 사단인뎅 진짜 군생활 열심히하신다고ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ 그래서 더좋아짐! 꺄오
My friend and Rain belong to the same division.
My friend said that Rain is really diligent about his responsibilities during his military service. So I find myself increasingly attracted to Rain!

This is from a rehash today of this enews24 story in back October about how Rain’s fellow recruits have been full of praise for him. As we understand it, these are images of their letters home, where they’re telling their loved ones about Rain’s hard work in their squadron. Nice. (Image source: enews24)

More wonderful RAINY DAY Season 2 screen caps, from when Rain and Crew were in California for “Rainism” choreography. Here, he was having lunch at a Korean place in L.A. before a grueling practice session in the studio. Those noodles were just the way he liked them, really hot and really spicy. I’m sure I don’t have to say that this was early in Bi’s debut year, during his Bad Guy era, and before he was known by the English translation of “Rain.” Just one look at the footage automatically tells you that. 🙂
The visuals in this thing are awesome. Please enjoy it!

Hi there, dear Clouds and Rain fans. Thanksgiving in the U.S. will be here tomorrow! Who’s traveling? Who’s snug as a bug in a rug at home, cozied up and ready for the holiday?
Just thought I’d share some thoughts swirling around in my head today…
Of 비상 [飛上]: 태양가까이. Korean movie “Punch”, presently number one at the Korean box office, is opening nationwide in North America next month (California, Seattle, New Jersey, Chicago, Philadelphia and Atlanta). Why am I mentioning this? Because this movie is by CJ Entertainment, just like Rain’s fighter pilot blockbuster, Soar: Into The Sun/Flight: Close To The Sun. Which means that if enough people here raise a clamor to see Soar/Flight… is it possible that CJ might bring it too, next year? Holy cow! *praying frantically to the theater gods*
Of lawsuits and word on the street. I’m sure you’ve all read some of the articles that are circulating around concerning Rain and/or his father or somebody suing Star M in order to recover monies rewarded a few years ago for Rain’s ruined concert in Hawaii and the botched North American leg of Rain’s 2007 World Tour, as well as punitive damages for Rain’s damaged reputation. The problem is that none of the write-ups that we’ve seen seem to have their facts straight, and they’re all saying different things. Not to mention one of the major news sources that is usually pretty careful with their news hasn’t written anything about the situation at all. (Red flag!) And so, until the hot mess sorts itself out and there is something more concrete, we’re steering clear of it here.
With that said… we would support Rain looking for compensation for monies he shouldn’t have paid and making people accountable for his ruined reputation wholeheartedly. He didn’t cancel anything. The authorities did, and the courts did because of the “Rain name” lawsuits (by The Corporation Who Shall Remain Nameless). His career and his reputation have never recovered from that whole debacle. To this day, journalists blame Rain for “turning his back on his fans” and are always questioning his character, despite the fact that the man would have stood on a wooden crate and sang without a mic for his fans if only the authorities had allowed him to. Everybody threw him under the bus, for no good reason.
I just saw some guy in the Media the other day say something snide in his summer article, about how folks buying tickets for the Best Show should watch out because Rain is “notorious for canceling his concerts without notice.” So yeah, Rain’s reputation is STILL suffering. He missed a golden opportunity to make his way into the U.S. (which was hyped to the MAX), paid a ton of money that should have been paid by companies responsible for ruining the shows, we in Atlanta were cheated out of our one shot at a concert, and if you think we’re going to forget any of that any time soon, you’re sorely mistaken.
If there is truth to Star M being sued, and/or facts about who exactly is behind it, time should tell.
Of 8th Cloud business. If any of you official 8th Clouds haven’t been over on The Cloud Fan Site (in South Korea) for the past week, here’s an FYI: the executive board has posted that Rain 8th Cloud membership goods are finally being produced and that they are really sorry for the delay. They will let everyone know as soon as delivery starts. Here is a tentative preview of one of the items, the club T-shirt…
… with the design on it that Rain drew for us last spring, while he was training for and filming Soar/Flight. kekeke!
(Just about everywhere you look, if Rain is on set, a Krispy Kreme donut box is somewhere there too. LOL! He sure was scarfing some KKs down during “Rainism” music video shooting, remember? Lawdy, I’ll bet he’s missing the hell out of them now…)
Because of a lack of web-hosting support or a way to effect the necessary website maintenance themselves (the web-host that originally built Rain’s official Cloud Fan Site refuses to provide any further site management service for it), the executive board is considering moving to a new web address. This is not a done deal, only an idea at the moment, and they are asking for all 8th Clouds’ opinions on this sensitive subject over in the Cloud-filled Room (구름 가득한 방, Item No. 3624).
And one last thing… Some Cloud Letters didn’t get moved in time before JiHoon graduated boot camp (I can certainly understand that, there are a hell of a lot of them), so the Cloud will be printing letters out and physically sending them on to him at the 2nd recruitment center. So please keep writing and encouraging our soldier.
Of Cloud USA TV’s premiere broadcast: Thanks to all of you who joined us last night, for making our first video show a complete blast! Livestream was hiccuping a bit and not streaming well during the initial broadcast, which irritated us to no end, but the replay was awesome and all in all it was a terrific experience. Heck, long-running Rain can never be bad, right? Haha! We’re already working on and looking forward to the next new show, and we’ll be re-airing the first show soon, so please stay tuned.
HUGE thanks to Jim and his Livestream online studio, where all the “magic” happened. Thumbs up! 😀 (There is a permanent link to Cloud USA TV near the top of our media blog sidebar, to your right.)
Happy Turkey Day, everybody! We’ll see you after Thanksgiving.
• Last week: You’re driving down the road with “Rainism” on blast, windows down, and from the passenger seat she suddenly chants, “Ho… hey… ho… hey… ho… hey… hoooooo… heyyyy—Putcha hands UP!” directly at the motorist driving beside you. And throws her hands up. Motorist reacts something like this:
• Yesterday: You stay in the car for a minute after running errands, to listen to “Same” on your Back To The Basic mini-album. Brother comes to the back porch door just to make sure you’re not in distress or something (because you’re still in the car). She pokes her head out past him and shouts for the whole neighborhood to hear, “She must be listening to RAIN!!!”, and shuffles on out to the car to listen to the CD with you. LOL!
That’s my mama. (Wasn’t that the name of a show back in the 70s? Yep!)
My girl Fergie and fellow Black Eyed Peas and Rain and his Crew have both kicked major ass on stage this year, as always! We love them both, especially in their iced-up, virtual superhero/futuristic space get-ups. Rain and Fergie are killing it in gold, while the rest of the Peas and the Crew are blinging silver.
In my opinion, VERY COOL. What a lucky designer.
Proof positive that great minds and mega entertainers think alike. Bravo! 😀

PLEASE keep spreading the word so that the Yellow Ribbon for Rain Brigade continues to grow and grow. Let’s make sure that when JiHoon does get time online again—at present, no telling when that might be, so patience is the magic word, folks—he sees LOTS of Yellow Ribbons For Rain. Let’s surprise him with a global Brigade he can be proud of!
JiHoon has begun his seventh week as a military man. As many of you have read, he has three additional weeks of specialized training left, such as Guerrilla and other things in the field (he and his testosterone should have a hell of a lot of fun with that, he is a man’s man, after all), and then he’ll be moving into his formal position as an ROKA Assistant Training Officer for the duration of his duty. Come on, December! Hopefully he’ll get to see family again then, and have another opportunity to scarf down some prime grub for a few hours. 😀
Rain is Eternal. Where clouds stay gathered, rain will always come. It is inevitable.
Our Yellow Ribbon For Rain deadline has now passed and we are working on our calendar presentation now.
FYI, we have made the decision to continue to take latecomer submissions until this next Saturday, November 26, at midnight, EST. This is simply to ensure that everyone has been given ample time and opportunity to participate, if they are so inclined.
If you do decide to make a late submission, then please put the following in your e-mail subject line: LATE SUBMISSION YELLOW RIBBON. This is so your submission won’t be missed among the many e-mails in our inbox.
Thanks to all of you who have already sent us your submissions. We greatly appreciate your participation. Some people have inquired about second submissions. If you’ve already submitted something, but have another idea you’d like to submit as well, then please feel free to send us a second submission. Please put the following in your e-mail subject line: SECOND SUBMISSION YELLOW RIBBON.
Please keep in mind that all of the first-come submissions will be used first, so your second submission might not make it in the calendar, if we run out of room. If you’d like to switch your second submission with your first, then please let us know and we will do that for you.
For those of you who are out there who haven’t yet submitted because you are a little intimidated by this project, please keep in mind that your submission doesn’t have to be professional or complicated. As long as your message to Rain comes from your heart, that’s absolutely all that matters.
Here’s the latest from fashion maven and CloudUSAer April, a.k.a. Pinkfashionninja, who is now living in Samcheok, teaching and studying in South Korea. She ain’t “in Kansas” anymore! What do you have to show us this time, April? You’ve got the floor! 😀 (I want Rain in my purse carrying around my tissues! Wahhhh.) ^@@^

Adidas pics taken from a store in Korea not far from Seoul. They were taken by my friend Jessica (who I met at the Rain Gangnam concert!)
I recently picked up the It’s Raining CD and OMG, it’s the best CD I think he’s ever done. So soulful. It reminds me of an old Destiny’s Child CD. I bought it out here in Samcheok.
My cellphone wallpaper that my students constantly teased me about. I recently changed it to a more weather appropriate picture (although his shirt is still open). 🙂
A Flight: Close To The Sun advertisement in the Chungmuro/Namsang area of Seoul, at Daehan Cinema.
The scarf and tissue holder I bought in Namsang. There was a table outside of the Namsang Folk Village (a tourist place you can visit) that was selling KPop merchandise. They also had a Rain coffee mug and stickers. The mug cost $10, so I was like “Oh hell naw.” LOL
Tune in to Cloud USA TV on Livestream tomorrow evening, Tuesday, November 22, at 10 pm EST, and watch the Rain fall with our first broadcast! We’ll be broadcasting several times a month, so watch for our schedule announcements. At present, we’ve planned to air a new broadcast each month—depending on our individual staff schedules, if it is possible, we might do more. We’re excited about this new venture, and we hope you are too.

Tourism magazine Seoul Travel & Culture has some really nice stuff inside its pages for the month of November, and they reserved a few of those pages for Rain and MBLAQ.
The article “From Theater of Film to Theater of War?” by Phillip Maher and Myoungsook Park is a brief, well-written piece concerning Korean celebs in the military and introduces Rain, Hyun Bin, Lee JunKi, Kong Dong Won, Lee DongGun and Kim NamGil to readers who may not know them. MBLAQ and their K-Pop colleagues are included in a brief piece on the latest Hallyu Dream Concert. And the image of Rain from his Last of the Best free street concert in Gangnam is oh, so handsome.
The entire issue is chock-full of beautiful images and lots of information about South Korea, and this was simply icing on the cake.

More of RAINY DAY Season 2, with Rain and Crew in L.A. for “Rainism” choreography. I do believe this was in the days after they learned it, after he rolled his foot and almost maimed himself, and were perfecting the steps to Rain’s liking in a second studio. He was dead tired here, and so hot and sweaty that the muscle packs he was trying to apply for relief wouldn’t stick to his skin and kept peeling off. — Stephe ^@@^ (caps courtesy of yuko @rainstorm)
Rain fans, please see the updates below concerning where you can write JiHoon during his next three weeks of training, since he has graduated his initial five weeks of boot camp. We thank the Cloud Executive Board and our sister Clouds for this translated information.
Blue 8th Cloud members, PLEASE note: We’re not sure yet if the military designation we’ve been using for JiHoon (12중대 2소대 1번 정지훈 훈련병OR12중대 2소대 1번 정지훈 훈련병에게 ) has changed or not—it may not have at this time. As soon as we do know, we’ll spill the beans here. In the meantime, do keep using it and posting your letters of encouragement to JiHoon in the Cloud Letter Room on Rain’s official fan site regularly, so that The Cloud can continue transferring them over to the Key Cafe on Daum for him. Thanks!

PART 2: We are here. We are here. We are here! Saturday, October 22.
By the skin of our teeth. 1) Concentrate on the lane ahead of you. No sight-seeing unless you want trouble. 2) Keep the pedal to the metal—keep up with the flow of traffic and do NOT slow down (to hell with a speed limit). 3) Unless you know you have an exit coming, stay squarely in the middle of the highway, no matter what the signs say, and floor it. 4) Don’t forget to breathe.
One great thing about living in Atlanta—it prepares you well for leaving Jersey and driving into New York.
We did manage to catch our collective breath on I-78 during a brief pause to pay toll before heading into the Lincoln Tunnel. And then we shot into that sucker like bats out of hell, Terri practically flying the Cloudmobile like a fighter pilot, me holding on for dear life with my fingernails dug into the upholstery. (I was just praying to see daylight again. I am extremely claustrophobic. Damn tunnel. *screammmmmm*) Once we emerged into the bright Manhattan afternoon, however, we had all the time in the world to breathe, seeing as all traffic slammed to a standstill and stayed there. LOL!
We definitely weren’t in “Kansas” anymore. Terri’s been to NYC before, so she was used to the scenery. Me? I was simply agog. To a person who’d only seen New York City secondhand (on TV, on the news, on the Big Screen, being destroyed by monsters, asteroids, and Acts of God), it was like being in a movie. Or on a set.
If I hadn’t known ahead of time where I was going, when I opened my eyes, there would have been no mistaking where I was. “Concrete jungle” is right on. The Big Apple truly is a place unlike any other.
Digging the scene without a gangsta lean (’cause you gotta walk everywhere). The Hotel Chandler on East 31st was a welcome sight after 15 hours in a car, and the kind folks there took excellent care of us with very few hiccups. (Hi, Sebastian! Tell the rest of your crew hello!) And so we said bye-bye to the Cloudmobile as they put it in Valet for us (let’s face it, us “fer-in-ners” trying to drive around and PARK in Manhattan for a few days would be utter madness), crashed into our suite and took a load off. Whew. Made it!
We couldn’t lie on our butts for long, though—there was too much to do, especially after finding out on the way that Terri had to cover the SMTown Live press conference for HelloKpop. After unpacking, we put on our walking shoes and hit the road for some sight-seeing and to get our bearings for Sunday.
Koreatown was awfully cool. It literally was a “town”, with Korean businesses stretching from one end of Korea Way to the other. It was there that we chose a Korean barbecue restaurant to meet our Cloud USA peeps at on Sunday—Mukeunji (묵은기)—and where we had our first run-in with K-Pop, K-Drama, and K-Stuff at Koryo Books.
Who was there to greet us the second we walked into Koryo Books? Why, Kim HyunJoong, of course, seeing as a Face Shop shared the same space as the bookstore.
And this is where we found us some Rain, in the form of SangDoo! Let’s Go To School! on DVD.
Koryo has so much in stock, there was no way to either see it all or check every shelf for Rain. Not to mention there were KPop fans everywhere in there, killing time before the SMTown concert the next day. So, you NY and Jersey Clouds who haven’t yet come across Koryo, make some buzz for Rain there. Go grab his stuff, and if it isn’t in stock, have them order it for you. Make some noise and get him noticed.
(Some serious Soshified fans! 😀 )
A Stephe WTH moment: When you see a Subway sign in metro Atlanta, that means you can go in there and fill up on some tasty grub. When you see a Subway sign in NYC like that, arrows pointing and all, ain’t no sandwiches. Just trains to ride. You can get anywhere you need to go, all right, but you might starve to death in the process. GAH!
McDonald’s with a Bang. We wandered quite a bit, rode the subways (tunnels! Jesus…! GAH!), saw street performers, vendors, residents, tourists, some Times Square, so many amazing things, as night came on. So cool. I got so cold and tired though that I pooped out when we got to one of the most famous McDonald’s restaurants in the world, on Broadway, and grabbed myself some food and a seat on the third floor there while Terri went on to popular restaurant Chez Josephine, a hot spot for the theater crowd. (She had a message for the owner Jean-Claude Baker, Josephine Baker’s son, from a friend of his here in Atlanta, and had promised to hand deliver it to him.)
As it turned out, that would be our second run-in with K-Stuff of that day, because as I was sipping my hot chocolate and watching the tremendous hustle-and-bustle of humanity in the restaurant and walking the streets outside… Big Bang showed up. Rather, their music video did! In McDonald’s. Right on the brick wall opposite me. Larger than life. Seeing as I was sitting in the opposite balcony, the same Big Bang “Lollipop” music video was playing on the brick wall right by my head too. HUGE.
(This was taken on the second floor of the McDonald’s. I was on the third, in the balcony. When I was there, the place was packed. My son called from Atlanta to check on us and I couldn’t hear a word he said! Video courtesy of tekunoloji.)
(So you can see the whole MV, if you haven’t already… Video courtesy of JKMotion.)
Yes, I spazzed out. *Taeyyyyyy* *Geeee-Deeeee* *Daaaaae* *Topppppp* *Seung—* *head hits table* @_____@ A nice security officer asked me if I was okay. I mumbled something unintelligible and nodded. He looked like he wanted to check my pulse, but thought the better of it and politely went on his way.
Well, after all the awesomeness of finding Big Bang at Mickey D’s, I was pretty much done. Finding Rain at Koryo Books had me pretty happy too. When Terri returned from Chez Jos, we made it on back to our digs (with a couple of detours and couple of Starbucks coffees on the way).
And we slept as hard as rocks. Probably harder.
(I’m writing PART 3 as we speak… so see you soon!)

Hello Readers once again! This time, this article will not address two different boy/girl K-pop bands, but a specific K-pop artist. Behold the music stylings of Rain (Bi)!
Rain (Bi)
Jung Ji-Hoon (born June 25, 1982), better known by his stage name Rain, is a South Korean recording artist, dancer, actor and designer.
Rain’s musical career includes seven albums (six Korean, one Japanese), 19 singles and numerous concert tours around the world. His acting career began in 2003, when he won the KBS Best New Actor award for his role in the drama Sang Doo! Let’s Go To School. In 2004, Rain won the KBS Excellence in Acting award for his role in the drama Full House. After starring in A Love To Kill, he acted in his first Korean film, I’m a Cyborg, But That’s OK (2006), which won the Alfred Bauer Prize at the Berlin International Film Festival. Rain has acted in the American films Speed Racer (2008) and Ninja Assassin(2009), the latter of which made him the first Korean to win an MTV award.[1]
In 2007, Rain left the management of JYP Entertainment and started his own company, J. Tune Entertainment. –Wikipedia
Rain is a different Korean singer in my opinion. Of course he is like the rest: sexy hot, a great singer, a wonderful dancer, and multi-talented by spreading over different industries such as the music industry, the modeling industry, the acting industry, etc. No. When I mean different, I mean by his style and his voice. It isn’t auto-tuned like the musicians that are following this new trend. His music style isn’t about standing out by saying specific phrases in English. His voice is smooth. And when I mean smooth, I mean super super smooth. And his songs truly make the best out of this.
And if you are wondering why his name sounds, or looks, familiar, it is because he founded the famous group MBLAQ and acted in several movies as stated above. If you are able to, I recommend watching Ninja Assassin. A great way to spend a nice free afternoon at home with your sibling.
Rain, Ronnie, and Kim TaeWoo at yesterday’s boot camp graduation event… and twelve years ago, chillin’ and feeling that Bro Vibe when they were oh, so young. Amazing, the power of these two pictures when they’re right next to each other like this, as if history has come full circle. Thanks so much for sharing these, Ronnie.
Thumbs up to our Beret Baby! Our hearts are happy to see you, JiHoon, and we like what we see. And congrats to you, Big Tae, on your upcoming marriage and Little Tae on the way. So excited for you! ^@@^

FYI: Major news source Hankook Ilbo has a slide show of about thirty pictures up, a selection of images from Rain’s enlistment to his graduation. One of them, as we understand it, is a partial image of the 5th Division Commander Citation for Respect that he received yesterday (it certainly does have his name and their seal on it). Very cool.
I prepared for many things and took them with me, but all sort of things are not allowed, shampoo, lotion, toothbrush, note, etc….It is said all those things are prohibited in the army base. You can send the goods he needs to him as much as you want when he gets assigned to an unit where he’ll officially begin his compulsory two-year military service.^^

I thank ‘Bi Gallers’ for collecting the articles about my brother, and thank ‘benamoo members’ for preparing for delicious food with love and care for him. He ate well, and I delivered the articles to him. I felt really bad that he appeared to have lost weight, which brought a tear to my eye. However, he ate well and laughed a lot, so we were able to have an enjoyable day.
Yesterday, MSN Entertainment Malaysia put Rain in their Top 25 On-screen Bodies. We couldn’t agree more! “Raizo” was a Badass in more ways than one. And yes, no telling how many “packs” Rain will have when he gets out of the military. 🙂
Behind every Cloud is a silver lining. His name is RAIN.
Cloud USA (EST. January 21, 2010) is a promotional/fan site where all English-speaking Rain Clouds of every age and ethnicity around the globe can share in their love of JI-HOON JUNG, the talented Korean artist known the world over as RAIN [비] (Bi). We want to provide a comprehensive introduction of Rain to those who may not know much about him, as well as help increase his presence in North America.
We also would like to further the popularity of Korean art and culture in the United States.

•November 23, 2011 • 13 CommentsHi there, dear Clouds and Rain fans.
