The making of JiHoon’s Road for Rain DVD, from back in May of 2005, as made available by Rain Eternity Brazil. Watch JiHoon go from delighted 24-year-old to modeling professional in two seconds flat, and then back again… watch him turn the voodoo that he does so well on and off like a light switch. The aura this man throws off is incredible, and we honestly don’t know how he does it. ♥

(Well now, that was silly, what I just said. We do sort of know how he does it—he’s not just posing, he’s creating a temporary character who lives within the world that the photographer is producing. For instance, the hard-living, no-nonsense boxer who lives in the California desert. It’s an actor thing.)

Keep on doing that voodoo that you do this winter, spring, and summer, JiHoon. Keep us firmly within your spell. Withdrawal symptoms suck and we don’t fancy going through them just yet!

Two things we don’t see Rain do…

… drive a car. It’s been lot more convenient for someone to drive him, so that he could prepare for whatever he had to do along the way.  I do believe I’ve seen the man drive twice now, though: once in the JYPE “Rain In LA” video from 2006, and in a recent “Infinitely Yours, Seoul” commercial spot.

… ride a horse.

Well, here you go, Clouds, courtesy of rakota1.  (Was this Six To Five video when he was up in the Alps?)  *Rain pats the horse on the rump, pats the horse on the neck, and keeps on patting the horse*  ”Aish…!”  You know he was PRAYING he didn’t get thrown.  And he looked relieved as heck after getting down. ^@@^

The 7 RainMakers (English subtitled), from 2006.  Rain runs down the most important list in his life at that moment in time—the seven people who have helped him achieve his purpose.  A touching documentary, partly filmed in New York City, during the time Rain was there for his MTV appearance and 2006 Rainy Day Concert at Madison Square Garden.

There are hilarious moments, like when host Jae-Dong, fully aware that being older than Rain affords him utmost respect, insists on going through Rain’s suitcase and even pulling out Rain’s UNDERWEAR in front of the camera—and poor Rain is helpless to stop him.  There are fun moments when American and Amerasian women on the streets of NY are completely losing their sanity because Rain is gazing down on them from MTV’s upstairs studios.  And there are sad moments during Rain’s recollections of the tough times (have a hanky handy).

Shin Hae-Chul’s Special Edition Interview: It’s Rainism (English subtitled by RainLegend, by way of Benamoo in Korea and Cloud China)

This takes place after filming for Ninja Assassin had been completed in Berlin and Rain finally returned to Korea after two long years, probably early 2009.  It is one of the most detailed, gritty, and personal interviews Rain has done, to date.  The suffering in his youth—and his mother’s love for her children even in her extreme pain—is laid bare for all to see, as is the true toll his career has had on his body and mind.  And Mr. Shin… well, let’s just say that whatever comes to Mr. Shin’s mind comes right out of Mr. Shin’s mouth. 🙂

Way back, when the legendary Mr. Shin was in his prime, he had no idea that the young fan following him around with a demo CD would turn out to be the mega-icon sitting in front of him today.

Thank goodness the man admires Rain, or who knows what would have gone down during this interview.

We are not fanatics with blind admiration for Rain.  He has earned our support with his passion, hard work, raw talent, and honesty.  And this interview backs that up 100 percent.  ^@@^

Shin Hae-Chul’s Special Edition Interview: It’s Rainism II

The continuation, broadcast at a later date, that picked up where the first interview left off.  Every bit as detailed and personal as what came before, if not more so.  (No, you’re not dreaming.  Mr. Shin actually tells Rain “If you continue this kind of living [no woman and no sex], when you do decide to do it in future, you may have a problem with that function.”   But Rain insists that he wants to be in love when he makes love [not just have sex].  We are impressed.)

(And he does NOT want a beautiful woman.  He wants a smart, kind, considerate, pretty girl with a good heart, that he respects.  Great choice!)

“Sooo, what are your favorite swear words, Rain?  You can tell me, it’ll be bleeped out.”  Mr. Shin, honestly!

The video titles state there are seven parts, but only six were uploaded and it looked like the end credits were starting to roll.  ^@@^

MBC Special: Rain Is Coming.  (English subtitled)  An amazing account of Rain’s Ninja Assassin journey—and the events that followed—that we had absolutely no chance of seeing on our televisions here in the States.  That we’ve been able to watch it has been a blessing.

It was during this program that, for the first time, we were hit with just how much hell Rain’s body has truly gone through up to this point in his life.  He just seemed so invincible before, during all those years of hard dancing, touring, and performing with injuries, that we hadn’t realized what making Ninja Assassin would physically do to his health on top of all that.  The subject is never far from our minds now.  (During the middle stages of the LoR tour, we were particularly concerned, seeing as he had injured his knee in Japan.)

The raw emotions that drive him forward every day are laid bare here as well.  The lessons to be learned from him are profound.  We are humbled.  ^@@^

Rain : Its concept, by definition, is ‘back to the basic’, and it is to be a little more simple. In some sense, it can be characterized by an epicene beauty.

Rain : That can be difficult and easy, but I think it would be better to a singer to do like that.
