… is the song and the impressive music video Bad Guy, from Rain’s debut album that started it all, n001. Though the song was a hit, some of its thunder was stolen by Team South Korea making it into 2002 FIFA World Cup play.
Rain was advised to chock it up as a loss and work on a second album. Instead he decided to stay the course, to stick with n001 and release its second single, Instead of Saying Goodbye, which turned out to be the right decision. Even back then, our Ji-Hoon was incredibly smart.
Since then, both songs have become legend and he has become a mega-icon well on his way to immortality. But it all began with Bad Guy, one of our very favorites.
Ooh, the look in his eyes when you realize he has decided to not go back to prison… Enjoy revisiting this marvelous piece of work. — Stephe ^@@^
As we understand it… this was behind the scenes of what would turn out to be one of Rain’s most memorable tours. He was polished and dazzling on stage… yet cute and fresh-faced before the show went down.
I find it rather cool that MTV has put the Cloud name out there…! *grinning* Thanks for speaking kindly of us, Mr. Anderson.
Yes, we are Clouds, and without Clouds there is no Rain. Here we come. 🙂

MTV Newsroom Blog 7/8/2010 —
The 2010 FIFA World Cup has narrowed down its initial field of 32 teams down to just two. After a stunning and tense semi-final match against Germany, Spain emerged the victor and will take on the Netherlands in the final match this Sunday, July 11. That means the third place game will pit Uruguay against the Germans this Saturday, July 10. The final match guarantees that one of those nations will be winning its very first World Cup, and both Spain and the Netherlands are countries with excellent soccer pedigrees who deserve a shot at the big prize.
Meanwhile, there are only a few hours left to vote in the two semi-final matches in the MTV World Cup of Rock (both polls close tonight at 11:59 p.m. ET). Though the German team has no chance at winning the soccer tournament, they can still play for the championship in the World Cup of Rock — if they maintain their commanding lead over a powerful but perhaps over-matched squad from Australia.
The other semi-final game sees South Korea continuing to hold off surges from Mexico. Fans of rain (who call themselves “Clouds”) have been staying organized and keeping the attack on, which could mean too much for Mexico. But anything is still possible, and only you can decide who will play for the big prize in the MTV World Cup of Rock!
Well, great galloping ghosts. The final powerhouse FELL. Wow. Who saw that coming? (no one) So… on the 10th, Germany and Uruguay will vie for 3rd place, and on the 11th, Spain and the Netherlands will go head to head in the Championship match for the coveted FIFA World Cup. That is going to be a real fight, folks!

FANTASY: MTV World Cup of Rock 2010 Semifinals
Final 4 percentages, IN PROGRESS until 11:59 pm EST on Thursday, July 8
Match-up #1: RAIN (S. Korea) 71% vs. Santana (Mexico) 29%
Match-up #2: Tokio Hotel (Germany) 98% vs. AC/DC (Australia) 2%
— 11:59 pm EST 7/8 (TIME IS UP! SWITCH IT OFF, MTV!)
The Germany/Australia percentages have only moved ONE point in days, while the S.Korea/Mexico percentages have fluctuated so wildly that they’ve been from one entire end of the spectrum to the other countless times in less than a 48-hour period. And, of course that has spawned quite a few suspicions: poll rigging by MTV, by disgruntled fans, hackers, voting bots, et cetera… 😦
How can Australia have only 2% of the vote when they had enough fans to get into the Final 4? How can the Mexican fan base be so strong, yet not one fan ever “comment”? How can our S.Korean scores fluctuate that crazily every time the wind blows? Are we being “played” here? Why is it that when something is obviously awry, the Powers That Be won’t speak up? Don’t you just hate bots?
One thing is certain, though. Today (Thursday) is the final day for Semifinal match voting, Clouds. Let’s get South Korea in that Championship match for the rocking-est nation on the planet, regardless of what’s happening behind the scenes. Let’s support our Ji-Hoon. Onward! Get on it, doggonit!
Dramabeans 7/7/2010 — KBS’s action drama Runaway sure is letting loose with its casting news. Next up: actress Yoon Son-ha faces off as Lee Na-young’s rival in a femme fatale role.
Initially, her character Mi-jin tries to approach Jin-yi (Lee Na-young) in order to kill her, as part of covering up her own past. However, in the process of doing so, she gets entangled with private eye Ji-woo (Rain) and Kai (Daniel Henney).
Yoon Son-ha received recognition for her acting in early projects Did We Really Love? and Snowflakes, and last took on a drama series with 2007’s Oh Lovers. Being fluent in Japanese, she also rose to popularity after acting in Japanese dramas, though she hasn’t acted in either Korea or Japan in the past few years.
Of her role, Yoon said, “I’ll be putting my innocent, pure image behind me and transforming into a femme fatale, so I hope you’ll look forward to it.”
HanCinema 7/6/2010 — A handful of the hottest Korean pop idols including Girls’ Generation and Super Junior are gearing up to perform at the Incheon Korean Music Wave 2010, according to concert organizer HH Company on Tuesday.
HH Company and the city of Incheon announced the first line-up of performers for the event, to be held at Incheon Munhak World Cup Stadium on August 29, which includes 2PM, After School, BEAST, CNBLUE, MBLAQ, SG Wannabe, SHINee, Son Dam-bi and U-KISS.
“We are planning to make Incheon the hub city of Asian music through hosting the Incheon Korea Music Wave concert,” explained an official at HH Company. “We want to create new performance contents for Hallyu stars every year and make it a festival which represents K-pop music in Asia.”
Founded in 2009, the Incheon Korea Music Wave festival attracted some 50,000 fans to its premiere concert last summer which featured Rain, 2PM, Brown Eyed Girls, Girls’ Generation, M (Lee Min-woo), SHINee and Super Junior….
This sounds like it’s going to be a terrific show, especially with MBLAQ strutting their stuff. It certainly was off the charts last year—as we recall, Rain really tore up the 2009 Incheon Korean Music Wave stage with his hotter-than-hot performance.
When my calendar finally rolled over into July, it suddenly occurred to me that the September/October time-frame wasn’t that far off. I mean REALLY. That’s just two/three months away–at the most.
And you know what that means? That means it will soon be time to tune in to one of the most highly anticipated K-drama’s of 2010: Rain’s Runaway (Domanja).
Here’s what we know so far:
The drama is titled Runaway (Domanja) [도망자] and will aim for a late September or October premiere on KBS.
Filming will take place in a variety of Asian cities, including Tokyo, Osaka, Yokohama, Shanghai, Beijing, Macau and Hong Kong.
Heading the project are the writer and director of Chuno, PD Kwak Jung-hwan (also of Conspiracy in the Court) and writer Chun Sung-il (also of Level 7 Civil Servant).
Lee NaYoung has been cast as the female lead, Jin-Yi.
Ji-Woo and Jin-Yi are involved in the same case, but acting independently of each other. Jin-Yi approaches Ji-Woo with the intention of “using” him to further her own mission, but when an unexpected romance blossoms between the two of them, her plan is foiled.
Lee Jung-Jin (of I Love You Don’t Cry and Bottom of the 9th Inning with 2 Outs) has been cast as Do-Soo, an ambitious investigator who pursues Ji-Woo and Jin-Yi after a “mysterious” incident.
On June 21, Daniel Henney confirmed (via his facebook page) that he was “on board for Runaway.” Henney’s character, Kai, is a shipping magnate who is in love with Jin-Yi and who uses his wealth and power to try to help her and to win her back (after having lost her because of a terrible accident). His appearance will create a love triangle between Kai, Jin-Yi and Ji-Woo. [oooh! :-}] Writer Chun has been quoted as saying, “From the time when I first planned the drama and the character Kai, who hides impassioned charisma behind his lovely smile, I have had Daniel Henney in mind for Kai.”
Yoon Jin-seo has joined in the cast. She will portray a quirky and energetic detective who helps Do-soo pursue Ji-Woo and Jin-Yi.
Sung Dong-il, Gong Hyung-jin, and Jo Hee-bong (all from Chuno) have been cast in supporting roles. Sung Dong-il plays a wily private investigator named Nakamura Hwang. Gong Hyung-jin plays Ji-Woo’s supporter in China, Master Jang. Jo Hee-bong plays a cool-headed private investigator named James, who is based in Vietnam and Thailand.
Han Jung-soo (General Choi, from Chuno) has been cast in a cameo role.
Uehara Takako will play Kieko a top Japanese singing idol who shares a “sad love” with Ji-Woo. [oooh again! :-}]
Japanese comedian Naoto Takenakawill play Keiko’s father, Hiroki, a powerful figure in the Yakuza underworld.
Rain may or may not be involved in the making of Runaway’s OST (original soundtrack)
Jackie Chan is NOT going to appear in Runaway due to scheduling conflicts.
Logline
At the outbreak of the Korean war, an “astronomical ” amount of money vanishes without a trace. Sixty years later, the money resurfaces, creating havoc in the lives of Ji-Woo and Jin-Yi and leading investigators into a hot pursuit of the alleged criminals–all across Asia.
So, please tell us: What do you think about Rain’s new project? Do you dig police chases and shootouts? Can’t wait for the action to start? Or are you cringing at the thought one more action-spy drama on TV and hoping desperately that the writers will throw in a little Rain love for good measure? Come on. Enquring minds wanna know. By now all of you have heard G.NA’s sweet little romantic duet called If you Want a Lover, sung by G.NA and featuring Rain?
Well, this YouTube video of the song’s audio file features not only a visual of G.NA’s new album cover pic and Rain in his Nature Republic finest (Wah!), but also includes the romanized Korean, Hangul, AND English lyric subtitles.
Many thanks and all the credit goes to sasa1314sisi on YouTube for this lovely work:
This one was so cute! I can’t wait to see what other projects Rain has up his sleeve!

Ji-Woo? Hey, Ji-Woo! Over here! Haha.
Now THIS looks like the guy doing that interview the other day, you know, the one in that Japanese magazine? Dig that hair, and those clothes. Yeah. Rain was channeling “Ji-Woo” while talking to the interviewer that day, I will bet you dollars to donuts. For all we know, he could have come from or been going to the Runaway set.
Of course, I’m speculating. Hehehe. Enjoy these on location images, Clouds.

I cannot for the life of me understand how a grown man can manage to look sexy in a young fan’s bunny ears. What the heck? I just don’t understand it. Pause the slide show and look at his expression in that picture.
Asian source Newsen quoted Rain today as praising new solo artist G.NA (Gina Choi, formerly of Five Girls) highly for her talents.
RAIN: “G.Na has a remarkable singing skill. I’ve watched her rehearse her songs for a long time. She is really a hard worker. I hope all her efforts will pay off.” He added, “I wish you’d have particular interest in her and keep watching out for her.”
(Thanks to rain bird @rain-eu. for this information.)

[Cloud USA] The poll in this new post is registering the same percentages as in the individual South Korea/Mexico and Germany/Australia posts, so everything seems to be properly linked. In reality (FIFA), by the end of the day we will have the Final 2 for their upcoming championship match, and in fantasy (MTV), by the end of tomorrow we will have the Final 2 for their upcoming championship match. This week is headed for one hell of an exciting end.
Let’s get Rain and South Korea onto that fantasy championship pitch!
It’s MTV’s World Cup of Rock! The World Cup is the greatest sporting event on the planet, a super-sized stage where legends are born with every strike of the ball, where infamy is just a moment away and where the dreams of millions live or die by the minute. That’s why, in the spirit of the 2010 MTV Musical March Madness competition, we’ve created “The World Cup (Of Rock),” a FIFA-style tournament that takes 16 of the biggest nations — rock-wise (sorry Algeria) — and pits them against one another to determine just which is the most rockingly awesome. Heavyweights like the U.S.A., England, France and Germany are all here, but so are a handful of surprisingly strong sleeper countries. As the Cup progresses, we’ll be unveiling the match-ups, and it’s up to you to vote your favorites through. In the end, only one nation will be left standing: the world champion of rock.
Today, Germany and Spain will go toe-to-toe to determine who will go up against the Netherlands in the championship match at the 2010 FIFA World Cup. It should be a classic tilt between two European powerhouses, and though the German team seems to be the favorite, they are a very young and somewhat inexperienced squad who could easily get surprised by the precision of the Spanish attack.
Meanwhile, voting remains open in the two semi-finals matches in the MTV World Cup of Rock. Germany is still alive in that tournament as well, and they currently hold a commanding lead over their challengers from Australia. The Tokio Hotel fans seem to be on a cruise to the finals, but you should never underestimate the ability of followers of AC/DC, Silverchair, Jet or INXS to make a bit of noise.
In the other game, South Korea is breaking away from Mexico. Can the supporters of superstar Rain finish the job, or will Santana and his fellow Mexican cohorts find themselves in the finals and challenging for the big prize? Only you can decide!
Having revealed her duet song with Rain yesterday with a faceless album cover, Cube Entertainment continues the countdown to the debut of their solo singer, G.NA (Gina Choi) by revealing one of her album jacket photos.
The jacket photo shows her wearing a white tank top and fitted with a black fedora, showing a boyish and chic appearance with her closed eyes.
G.NA is currently in the midst of her final rehearsals before beginning promotions next week.
Allkpop 7/6/2010 — After revealing her duet with Rain and a teaser photo in the past few days, Cube Entertainment continues the countdown to the debut of their solo singer, G.NA (Gina Choi) by revealing another of her album jacket photos.
From a faceless album cover to seeing her closed eyes, we finally get to see her face in this new teaser photo. This time, we get a direct face shot of Gina, as she casts a alluring yet innocent charm towards our direction.
G.NA is currently in the midst of her final rehearsals before beginning promotions next week.

RAIN’s dialogue
0:56
I feel like my fans and I are a family, sometimes I feel as if they’re my girl friend or mother, since they get closer to me. So I’ve had so much fun with them.
1:14
I really enjoy spending time here.
I’ve visited several restaurants that serve great food and eaten all kinds of good food wherever I’ve been, because I particularly like Japanese food.
I’ve had ramen many times.
1:35
I’d like to travel around from place to place on my motorcycle.
1:47
Hi, all of my fans. I hope you are always healthy and happy. Thank you for always welcoming me warmly. I hope that you’ll also look forward to my concert in Saitama Super Arena and be happy.
… but will he be advancing out of this semi-final round and into the coveted Championship match?
He won’t be, if we don’t get on the ball! The fans behind Carlos Santana are not messing around. (And I suspect that rogue fans from eliminated teams may just be trying to help Mexico show Rain the door. Are we going to stand for that?)
Final 4 percentages, IN PROGRESS until 11:59 pm EST on Thursday, July 8
Match-up #1: RAIN (S. Korea) 88% versus Santana (Mexico) 12%
Match-up #2: Tokio Hotel (Germany) 97% versus AC/DC (Australia) 3%
As far as we’re concerned, no one should be voting on the S.Korea/Uruguay match anymore. That was to determine who went to the Final 4, and as you all can see, Rain is in the Final 4 and Uruguay is not. That match is DONE. Concentrate all of your efforts on S.Korea/Mexico so that Rain gets to the Championship match on Friday.
After coming this far, Rain and the Tae-Guk warriors cannot be eliminated. Our Ji-Hoon and his K-colleagues have indeed made South Korea the rocking-est place on the planet, right? Do they not rock your world? Rain isn’t just an amazing Korean talent, but an amazing worldwide talent. Several American artists know and admire him, and he would bring so much to the American music scene. One really good English ballad from him, with that voice… and folks will be jumping on the bandwagon like crazy people.
[ *ETA 1:30 pm — Our match-up with Uruguay still isn’t showing final, but is holding at 93% to 7%. But MTV is talking as if it is, so it may be a technical glitch…
South Korea vs. Mexico
South Korea continues its blast through the tournament and easily bested the Gabe Saporta-led Uruguay in the last round, while Mexico overcame a disappointing United States team (apparently there are more Santana fans out there than we thought). But can those fans overcome the power of Rain and the South Korean contingent? Only you can decide!
Heheheh! So—Uruguay is in the bag and it’s time to take care of Mexico. Go Clouds, go! Let’s show them what we can do. Aja! Haha!
Vote percentages for Rain’s match-up still IN PROGRESS
≈
Knockout 3: RAIN (South Korea) 93% versus Gabe Saporta (Uruguay) 7%
Knockout 1: (CLOSED) Tokio Hotel (Germany) 95.54% versus Lacuna Coil (Italy) 4.46%
Knockout 2: (CLOSED) AC/DC (Australia) 71.15% versus Dir En Grey (Japan) 28.85%
Knockout 4: (CLOSED) Red Hot Chili Peppers/Foo Fighters (USA) 37.6% versus Carlos Santana (Mexico) 62.4%
— 5:00 am EST, 7/6 (Tue)
We’re not sure why our match-up is still live when all the other polls have been finalized. It could be that someone simply forgot to shut it down—or thought they did. You know how it is with computers sometimes. No problem. Looks like a done-deal anyway, wouldn’t you say? (I freely admit that I also voted for Team USA , and to see my motherland fall in this manner—again—makes me weep bitterly.)
Well, it doesn’t appear that Rain was doing anything for Runaway… rather, he was doing a magazine interview for Japan concerning the Rain Loves ZEPP Tour, the Saitama Super Arena stop, the release of the Back To The Basic album’s Japanese version, et cetera.
Still, that shirt and that hair… I’ve seen about a million interviews, andJi-Hoon just doesn’t look like himself to me here, but more like a character, the way he looked in his video message to us from the Runaway set some weeks ago.
I… can’t explain it. *shrug*
We writers have these moments sometimes.
Just ignore me.
(I will be watching to see if this shirt appears in Runaway this fall. You know what they say—a Cloud with an idea is like a dog with a bone.)
… use this one, because it’s special. As we understand it, Rain’s Hawai’ian Cloud officially had a star named after him for his birthday. Way to go, Hawai’i! 😀
Love Concert in Sendai and Sapporo from a New York Cloud’s point of view
By: NY Cuckoo
Account source: RainLegend
Zepp Sendai – One more to go
Sendai concert was started at 2pm. Per Japanese fan, Sunday concert is usually started early though. Rain performed great as usual, but he talked more than in Nagoya. Per my poor Korean understanding, he mentioned about the earthquake which was happened in Sendai. He asked if anybody felt the earthquake, one Japanese friend said “yes.” Also, he said he thanked fans’ support, he got MTV Movie Award. About his drama, he will go Hong Kong (one HK fan said him and he gave positive answer), Philippine, Thailand etc to film his new drama. Today’s “MY GIRL” is still a little girl. What’s a lucky one! She was 10 years old but she went concert alone! Wow…
≈
Zepp Sapporo – It’s all over!
Sapporo weather was quite cool this afternoon. It’s cloudy and drizzling. The wind was blowing gently against my face. It seemed to tell me that it’s a time to say goodbye to YOU. Zepp Sapporo is located on a quiet side street. And the entrance is very small. Audiences were asked to queue at 5:15 pm. There were many audiences tonight (it’s about 1800 on the ground floor). The center of the venue was extremely full. Staffs were trying to ask people to step back a little bit, unfortunately, it’s already too late. Sorry! We couldn’t move forward or backward. Just got stuck…Anyhow, everything ran smoothly and safe till the end.
The stage was very small. Rain could manage both sides easily. Even though he stood on the side of the stage, we wouldn’t lose him. Basically, the rundown of the songs were the same. In the “MY GIRL” section, Rain has difficulty to select fans to be his “GIRL” tonight. He tried to select fans from 2nd floor, but it turned out he didn’t find his “GIRL.” And he also joked that guys couldn’t be his “GIRL.” Finally, he has decided to select a local fan. All Sapporo fans were hands up. Rain selected a lucky Sapporo female fan. He got flower, but he saved the toy bear for another Sapporo fan…haha..
Tonight, he sang Korean version “LOVE SONG.” All fans went crazy and screamed loud. It looks like everybody loves the original one more than Japanese version. Rain was totally fall into the song. It’s one of the best performances tonight.
Talking part, a guy screamed “Hyung” but Rain couldn’t hear clearly. He asked him what he said. Finally, he got it and then he said how old he is. He said “18.” He said “Sa-Rang Ha” to him…hahaha…
The two and half week Love Concert has finally completed. This is Rain’s first Japan National Tour. It’s amazing and completed smoothly. And my Cloud mission is temporarily completed. Ji-Hoon, there are a lot of work waiting for you. Please take good care yourself. Please keep your mood up and don’t forget to smile, babe!
—by Cuckoo
Sister Cuckoo, we cannot thank you and huhuhuhu and all the fans who took pictures and fan cams enough for giving our imaginations a “bird’s-eye view” into the ZEPP venues and Rain’s performances as they happened. Because of you, we could at least participate in spirit. You’re the best!
Have a safe trip home, and we’ll see you on the East Coast. 🙂

Rain’s ZEPP Tour on Japanese entertainment news. (credit: meishui @YT)
brief translation by rain bird@rain-eu.
Rain’s dialogue: (0:23~0:44)
– I saw there is a tower in Nagoya. So, I’ve been there once.
– I had ramen in Nagoya as elsewhere, because I really love to eat food.
– The most impressive thing for me seemed to be the tower.
As RAIN continues his tour “RAIN ‘LOVE TOUR 2010’” in Japan, it was announced that his self-produced group MBLAQ will be his special guests at the Saitama Super Arena show on July 17-18, 2010. RAIN has six more stops around the Zepp clubs before his tour ends.
Fans in Japan can purchase tickets for this show through Pia.

As it is now roughly 6 am the morning of July 6th over the International Dateline, at this time ZEPP Sapporo is done and the tour, all except for the grand show at Saitama Super Arena, is complete.
And after the Saitama show is over, Rain will stay on location in Japan and, joined by other actors, film scenes for Runaway (Do Man Ja) for two more weeks, probably until the end of this month.
Gina Choi’s (of the disbanded group Five Girls) solo release hit the Internet today, July 5th… “If You Want a Lover,” or “Things I Want To Do If I Have a Lover,” featuring our man Rain. It is described as a pop ballad with urban R&B rhythm and acoustic guitar sounds.
As we understand it, this may be the first time in Rain’s career that he has appeared on a romantic duet… but it’s certainly NOT the first time he has dueted, as the reports are saying.
Really cute. We snapped our fingers to it, yeah. 🙂
What do you think of the song?
