•February 7, 2011 • 21 Comments[article] Rain to shine in war-set melodrama.
•February 7, 2011 • 8 CommentsPlease note: There is no updated news on Rain’s military service since the last update received directly from the MMA (Military Manpower Administration) and from Rain himself—that his service has been deferred so he can finish his schooling (and the movie and concert projects he has on his 2011 plate). He has said that he’ll be enlisting in the latter part of this year.
Just as we had to play the musical chairs game with “Runaway/Fugitive” (partly because of Korean→English conversion), Rain’s new project is listed as either Red Scarf or Red Muffler or Living in the Sky or In The Sky, depending on where you look (so far). We don’t see a problem, though. It’s the same darned movie and we all know what everyone means, right? Right. 🙂

Rain to shine in war-set melodrama
Production News
Korean pop superstar Rain (비) is to star opposite actress Shin Se-kyung (신세경) in Red Scarf (빨간 마후라 ), a melodramatic war movie that is a remake of the 1964 classic by the late Shin Sang-ok (신상옥).
A spokesman for CJ Entertainment (CJ엔터테인먼트]) today confirmed to Film Business Asia the basic details including Kim Dong-won (김동원) who previously made My Boss, My Teacher (투사부일체) as director and that shooting will begin later this month. CJ also confirmed plans to release it late this year.
The original Red Scarf saw an air force pilot leading his men on bombing runs to Pyongyang and discover the true meaning of being a fighter. It also sees the widow of another pilot find love again.
Rain (real name Jung Ji-hoon, 정지훈), who got his acting debut with CJ’s I’m A Cyborg, But That’s OK (싸이보그지만 괜찮아) and has since starred in The Wachowski brothers’ Speed Racer and Ninja Assassin, hinted at the role in a blog in August last year. His management company J Tune announced the role this weekend. CJ is expected to announce fuller details tomorrow at an event in Seoul.
The 20-year old Shin Se-kyung made her screen debut with My Little Bride (어린 신부) in 2004 and recently appeared in Five Senses of Eros (오감도).
Rain himself has received his mandatory military call-up, but may be able to delay entry into the armed services until he has completed the Master’s degree he is currently also studying.

Male pop group 2PM’s ‘Ock Taek Yon’ says that Rain who is a very successful singer and actor and is a versatile star, is a role model for him.
When asked whose example he really wants to follow in KBS 2TV’s ‘Yeoyumanman’ aired on the morning of February 7th, ‘Ock Taek Yon’ named Rain as his role model without any hesitation, which attracted attention.
‘Ock Taek Yon’ spoke frankly that he really admires Rain, “I was able to see a lot of Rain because he was my senior in the same management company with me in my trainee days. If I worked as hard as he had done, I thought I could be ready for anything like him. Rain, a very successful singer and actor, is also arguably the best singer and actor in Korea, so he is a supreme example and a role model for me.”

MBLAQ’s Lee Joon Humiliated by fans
Recently on MBC‘s Saturday Night-Hot Brothers MBLAQ‘s Lee Joon, took a break from his super stylish, hot, ab-showing idol image and revamped himself into a regular record store worker.
He worked really hard and even busted out some dance moves while under the command of Park Myungsoo, Park Hwisoon, and Tony Ahn, during the time he spent pretending to be record store worker, he caught the eyes of many customers who said that “he was handsome”, despite all the attention he was receiving, no one recognised him.
Lee Joon then said that he was a member of MBLAQ, and to assure this he even sang their latest hit Stay, this further humiliated him because fans were still doubtful till the end.
By the way awesome readers, today happens to be Lee Joon’s birthday too.
Happy Birthday Lee Joon, we wish you best of luck for the future.

RAINY DAY Season 2, episode 52 (season final).
•February 5, 2011 • 6 CommentsAsia broadcast 2/5. Yes, fans, this is unfortunately the end of the road for RAINY DAY’s second season. But we did get 52 episodes just like with Season 1 (it was 51 or 52 eps, I remember), and boy has it been a long ride.
And here’s another bit of interesting trivia for you—Episode 1 of this season premiered exactly one year ago almost to the day, Saturday, February 6, 2010 (remember how anxious we were?). So we, in effect, have had an entire year’s worth of RAINY DAY this go ’round, every single week (except for one that had to be skipped).
Thanks, JiHoon! Thanks, Mnet! 😀
Thanks, Terri, for filling in for me last week. *hugs* And now on with the show.
We pick up at ZEPP Osaka Hall where we left off last week, after “Don’t Stop” (which I LOVE and Terri can’t seem to stand, but whatever LOL) where Rain closes the song out as the Final Dancer In Fluorescent Orange, then takes the stage to catch his breath and hobnob for a moment with his ZEPPers. Baby Boy is dead tired (and of course he would be, putting on a concert tour, making it to umpteen photo shoots and umpteen interviews, AND filming a 20-episode drama all at the SAME time), but I think there was nowhere he would rather have been in that moment. A stage surrounded by fans is his pulse, his life blood, the thing that really makes his heart sing. He lives to see the pleasure on our upturned faces, and to catch the shouts that we throw him through the air. That’s not to say he loves acting and his other activities any less… he doesn’t. But immediate gratification is a powerful thing, and that’s what JiHoon gets with he’s with us in the flesh. Interaction. Reaction. Love in the air.
ROFL! Okay, there comes a point when self-camming gets too much of a workout—like when you amuse your own self by how well you can do nostril tricks. And ye old fish face. LMAO! I mean, what possesses the Man sometimes, I just don’t know. LOL! What a crack-up. Aaaaand… Asia is missing another big white teddy bear, as JiHoon has kidnapped yet another one to give to “His Girl.” (They’ve got to be on the endangered species list by now.) Awww… the fan is so cute, and she interacts with him so naturally. Good girl! Rain is hilarious. I really enjoyed this one. ♥
(Yeahhhh… let me just say this. For a “My Girl” in the U.S., there better NOT be a teddy bear in sight, yo. Best to drag one of those sexy sofas out like Usher, my Man, and do the thang. OR keep it up in the band, like you did for Legend of Rainism… because the sexy sofa just might unleash a stampede. Just sayin’.)
Wooooo-wooh!!! Haha! Give-it-up, give-it-up! Hip Song’s rocking hard tonight. Wah! And I love seeing the Women throwing Hip Song with the Men in the Crew. *high freakin’ five* And we hit a “Fresh Woman” note, which is oh so appropriate with the Women up there on stage.
Good grief, look at the density of that ZEPP crowd as our Mazinger superhero pauses for another sort of tête-à-tête with his “dates” for the night. Ahhhh… the “No Chocolate” conversation LOL! (he was kidding about the diabetes, please don’t freak the heck out) And boy does he continue to lay the the charm on thick. “I love you, I love you. I love you. I love you!” *heart symbol* “I love you.” Here, let me let this girl say something…
And some English! “—get married?” “I’m sorry?” “She said when are you going to get married?” “Married?” *kehhhhhh* (thinking) “Right now.” *heart symbol* ROFL!! LMAO Well that started up a whole world of trouble for him, didn’t it? Let’s move right along to the next song, JiHoon, which happens to be…
“Love Song” …in Japanese, with rolling abs. A deadly combination. Oh, my JESUS. ♥ ♥ ♥
Ah, looks like we’re bringing it on home with encore footage compiled to “Instead of Saying Goodbye” and the big balloon drop. And Japanese subtitles that seem to announce the end of Season 2.
I have really enjoyed this season to the fullest, and I hope you all have too.
Thanks, JiHoon, for keeping us so close to you in 2010. It’s truly been a pleasure, and we hope for more of the same in 2011. Here’s to a future RAINY DAY Season 3! Fighting!

[fan account/staff post] On the Mentholatum set: It was a great honor for me to meet real live Rain.
•February 5, 2011 • 23 CommentsSource:DC Inside

— ^@@^ (» You can revisit our previous post on Rain partnering up with Mentholatum China HERE.)
I’m a photographer specializing in filming commercials.
For two days, I was photographing for the advertisement of China’s male cosmetics brand Mentholatum using Rain as its advertising character. This picture shows Rain posing for a picture for its advertisement & his autograph.
When I first met him, he was tall and well-built, had really better skin than women, and an extraordinary light sparked in himself. Both his great muscles which were hard as steel and his nuance and expressiveness in his face were perfect.
It was a great honor for me to meet real live ‘Rain’, whose name is known throughout the world and who is considered the best singer in Korea, many people without exception admire by calling him by the title “Rain God (Bineunim)” and I had seen only on TV.
His good manner was more impressive thanks to his sense of professionalism.
While working together, I thought it was a good opportunity to get to know each other as people, not just fellow colleagues for a while.
After the photograph was completed, when I asked him for his autograph, he was tired from his work, but was nevertheless willing to sign autograph for me.
I got his autograph right here on a small piece of paper with the words, “To **, Happy New Year. From Rain”
He seemed sincere enough when he said, “Happy New Year” to me.

Blast from the Past #55: Ninja Assassin Revisited
•February 5, 2011 • 24 CommentsWell, lovely Clouds…
Guess what I watched today? Hint: “You are not my father…”
Yes, the recent news about Ninja Assassin playing on North American TV screens got me itching to watch the film again. So, I dug out my Ninja Assassin DVD and took another look at this well done and yet highly underrated homage to the classic “Hollywood Ninja Movie.”
All that ninja loveliness reminded me of our spectacular Ninja Assassin page here on Cloud USA. So, after the movie was over, I popped on over to that page for another quick Raizo hit. Our Ninja Assassin page is full of reminders of the greatness of that little movie and of how terribly hard our favorite star worked to bring Raizo to life. So, if you haven’t visited it lately, you really should. Seriously. There’s nothing like a little Raizo to get your weekend started just right.
As an added bonus, while I was meandering around YouTube, I also ran across this little jewel again: A Behind-the-Scenes look at Ninja Assassin. I’m pretty sure we posted it at some point, during the Ninja Assassin run, but since I hadn’t seen it in a long time, I thought I’d post it again for your pleasure. And as I didn’t see it over on the Ninja Assassin page, I went ahead and posted it over there too.
Enjoy, Clouds! And have a GREAT weekend!

[article] Red Scarf remake to begin filming late this month.
•February 5, 2011 • 10 CommentsAccording to reports, the remake of director/producer Shin Sang-Ok’s popular 1964 movie Red Scarf /Red Muffler will be named Living In Heaven (“live in the sky”)… also, that it is supported by the S.Korean Air Force and that it will commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Korean War.
Isn’t that something? The Fugitive: Plan B also had a Korean War tie-in: that coveted cache of gold bars that got so many people killed and jacked up.
And this may or may NOT be Rain’s last film before enlisting. We’ve been down this road before, remember? Everyone but Rain (not Allkpop, in this instance) claiming things as his “last so-and-so”? Please take such claims with a grain of salt unless they come from Rain’s mouth. What he said in December does indicate that this may be the last Korean film he has time for right now, but does not indicate that this is his last film anywhere else. That remains to be seen.

Allkpop 2/4/2011 — Phenom, writer
Rain and Shin Se-Kyung confirmed for “Living In Heaven”
Earlier, we reported that singer/actor Rain signed on to play the male lead role for the upcoming blockbuster movie, “Living in Heaven”. Actress Shin Se Kyung was also billed as his co-star, but back then, reports could only guess on her confirmation.
The media is now reporting that the actress has indeed signed on for the project, and she’ll be playing Rain’s love interest. The two have finalized their contracts, and filming will soon begin in earnest.
Directed by Kim Dong Won and produced by CJ Entertainment, ’Living in Heaven’ is a remake of ‘The Red Scarf‘ (1964). For this melodramatic film, Rain will tackle the role of ‘Taewoon’, a fighter pilot, and Shin Se Kyung will play as ‘Seyoung‘, a mechanic.

Allkpop 2/1/2011 — by Vitalsign
Siblings Dara and Thunder tackle their first Lunar New Year interview together
The older Park sibling, Sandara, arrived 10 minutes late, but she immediately waved “Hi~” to her younger brother Thunder upon entering the room. Thunder, who was fixing his hanbok in front of a mirror, greets her with, “Oh, you came.”
And then a brief moment of awkward silence hit.
Since it’s their first-ever ’sibling interview’, the two immediately began repeating, “How awkward,” while quickly explaining, “We grew up in the Philippines so we never had the opportunity to give New Year’s bows. This year, we’ll be bowing to our parents and CEOs.”
Sandara and Thunder are members of Korea’s two top idols, 2NE1 and MBLAQ. They’re also the most well-known sibling idols in the industry as well. What’s interesting to note is that despite the fame surrounding their relationship, this is the first time the two are taking part in an interview as just siblings.
“I’m seeing his face for the first time in a month,” Sandara calmly states. Thunder adds, “It’s kind of awkward seeing her at work, since I’m used to seeing her at home.” His older sister agreed: “At home, I’m used to us wearing pajamas and not being so dolled up, so meeting like this is quite awkward.”
Because they both have busy schedules and are living away in dorms, they’re lucky to be able to meet once a month. Their promotion cycles have also never overlapped, so they rarely get to meet outside at work. The first time they met on stage was at the SBS “Gayo Daejun” last year.
Despite the distance, they claim to be closer than anyone else. Sandara revealed that she constantly monitors for him, and sends him advice and support through text messages. She also listens to MBLAQ’s CDs during car rides, and would always visit MBLAQ’s waiting room with flowers on special days, like for their comeback.
Speaking of thoughtful, Sandara handed a new bag to her brother during the interview. “I bought it for you while I went shopping a few days ago,” she explained.
In comparison to her outgoing and four-dimensional personality, Thunder is a lot quieter and calmer. Sandara revealed, “Whenever I send him text messages after I monitor his broadcast performances, he always replies back with one letter: ‘k.’”
Thunder retorted, “But still, I reply a bit longer to Jihoon-hyung (Rain).”

From Stephe’s desk: Rain’s closeness to BbaekGa (and to other guys) is pretty normal. Why do people make it a problem? :/
•February 3, 2011 • 101 CommentsCan’t folks for one minute step out of their We Don’t Act Like That so It Ain’t Right Box? So what if it feels strange to you? So?? Different strokes, different folks. That’s what makes the world go ’round. That’s what makes it interesting.
I’m sure there are plenty of people around The ATL who don’t personally know me or Terri and would bet all their money that we’re “involved” because of how close we are when they see us and how often they’ve seen us together for 17 years, though we’re both straighter than the plank prisoners walk on a pirate ship. (If you looked right now, you’d see Louisville Slugger stamped on my backside. It gets no straighter than that.) And I’ve heard plenty of stories from friends in the States about the discomfort they’ve been made to feel in public, by strangers, when all they were doing was demonstrating love for a friend. Why does everything have to be pigeon-holed and defined and stuck with a label? Why can’t we just let people “be,” and keep our own yards clean? Huh?
I really enjoyed Heather B.’s post from S.Korea and wanted to share its thoughtful message. I wanted to say something in Rain’s defense. Thanks for letting me.
