Top star Rain had a special time with his Japanese in Korea’s Seoul.

Asia broadcast 7/9.
As you recall, Episode 14 left us at the Blue Fin bar and eatery in Times Square, NYC, where Rain and friend Ronnie Yang (CEO of CABA Entertainment) were enjoying a hardy breakfast. The TIME 100 Gala was only hours away! So let’s head back there now…
We pick right up where we left off, with Rain wielding his self-cam and tearing into his sashimi. And then bingo-presto, we’re back outside on the streets of Times Square, with the King of Asian Pop surveying a far land that is primed and ready for conquering. (Go get ’em, Rain!) As passersby stroll in and out of the camera’s frame, completely unaware of the star mega-wattage that is on the same street with them, Rain has a Q & A session right there on camera. A wonderful thing, when it comes to the visuals. All of that handsomeness is quite blinding. It’s an absolutely frustratingย thing when it comes to everything else, however, because WE HAVEN’T A CLUE WHAT HE’S SAYING. And what he’s saying sounds important.
Translating even five minutes of something isn’t as easy as a lot of people think it is. I can vouch for that truth because I’ve translated/recapped an hour-long telenovela (Hispanic drama) episode on Univision for my telenovela community peeps before, and even though it was great fun, I also thought it wouldย kill me. (It’s suddenly really nerve-wracking when a heck of a lot of people are depending on you to relay what someone else says without making a mistake. There tends to be marathon sessions of rewinding and obsessing over muffled words and what isn’t clear, and sweating bullets over the words you don’t know and have to look up. It takes a while to finish. Thank goodness I was able to do a good job.) This is why I never give rain bird and other folks a hard time if it takes them a while to translate something, or if they don’t translate it at all. To fans, it just magically appearsโtada!โbut the reality is it takes a real chunk of a translator’s time.
With that said… why in the world, with all the thousands of Rain fans that speak Korean and English, haven’t other folks jumped in to translate the show as well and help sisters out? Why has it been left on one person’s shoulders all this time? If Terri or I knew Korean, you know we’d have been on it like the devil on a sinner, yo. This is one episode where we really need to know what the heck Rain is saying!
Moving on.
I loved how, as he was casually strolling on the sidewalkย (and hopefully finding something he liked for his upcoming album) and we looked at the sights with him, there was a nice insert of Ol’ Glory a’waving in the wind. Sort of a sign of things to come, yeah? ๐
A third of the way through the episode, we leave the early morning streets andโnew scene! The Man is in tux-mode, and we are off to the TIME Gala. Oh, my gosh. CloudUSAers Diva, Gigi, Stormy, and Tara (and new USAer novaries) were there, outside the Lincoln Center venue! It’s still exciting to think about that, even after two-and-a-half months. Haha!
The on-camera question and answer session continues all the way to the Gala. In the car, he seems to be chatting about things like his 2006 TIME journey, Ninja Assassin, the MTV Movie Awards, and either the President or Mrs. Obama, as NY drivers whiz by at 90 MPH and almost take the paint off the side of the limo, but doggonit. It really sucks not knowing what he’s telling us all. I feel a bit of an angry cry coming on. *huhuhu!* ๐ฆ
Well, my goodness! A bright spot in the whole episode… in addition to Rain’s Gala pics with Bruno Mars and Sting, RAINY DAY also included the picture that Chanee Vijay’s husband took and that natural design blogger Chanee tweeted from the Gala that night, not knowing that she would unleash a tidal wave across the Rainiverse. LOL! Love the smiley face on you, C.V.! ๐
Rain gets to the Red Carpet, and we are out. More at the Gala next week (I hope), so until then, take care, everyone.

Rain holds his final fan meet with Japanese fans before his enlistment
On July 9th, Rain held the โLotte Rain Premium Concert 2011โ, his last fan meeting before his enlistment.
Over 1,000 Japanese fans flocked from Tokyo, Osaka, and Fukuoka to show up for the event. MBLAQ opened up the concert with a congratulatory stage before Rain emerged, greeting the audience in Japanese with, โAre you all well? This is Rain.โ
Rain began, โItโs my fourth year this year modeling for Lotte Duty Free. Iโm thankful for the experience since it has allowed me to become closer with my Japanese fans. Iโm overjoyed at being able to be with you all one last time before my enlistment.โ
The fan meet concert was comprised of an honest Q&A segment and a 30 minute talk show that featured stories from his Asian tour, recent whereabouts, and future plans. At the mention of his enlistment this year, fans were brought to tears at the thought of having to let their star go.
A high five event with each of the 1,000 fans concluded the fan meet. One fan from Tokyo said, โI personally came at the thought of this being the last time Iโd ever see him before his enlistment. Iโd like to thank the sponsors for this event.โ

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the company, ‘Hanjin Tour’, a domestic travel bureau, has arranged with ‘Lotte Duty Free’ for Rain to hold a fan meeting aimed at his Japanese fans, at ‘Ewha University Memorial Celebrating the Centenary of its Founding’, from 4 pm for two hours, upcoming July 9th.

I’m sure we’re all in agreement that Rain’s voice is KILLER in any language, and that he’s an “equal opportunity employer” in that regard. I loveย the sound of him in Korean, I have to sit down when he sings in Japanese (so that I don’t fallย down), and I adore the tone his sensuous voice takes on in English.
When it comes to English songs, we barely have enough to tide us over, and so it’s important to celebrate them every now and again, just for the hell of it, just to marvel at that amazing Rain sound.
Here’s an English tune in that group, Japanese/Italian-American R&B singer A.I.‘s song featuring Rain called “Too Much”, from her 2006 album What’s Goin’ On A.I.ย And the Rain + English factor isn’t the only thing it’s got going for it, no sirreeee. The lyrics will smack you, flip you, rub you down and leave you lying there wondering what happened. I needed a cigarette after the song was over and I don’t even smoke.
The entire song is actually one huge double entendre.
Rain: “Have you ever had a night that never ends? I’m gonna give you a chance… take it with both hands, girl.” A.I.: “Should we start then?” Rain: “Baby, just say when.” Goodness gracious!
Well, tell you what. Rain (and my girl A.I. with her SuperDiva voice, have you heard her sing with Chaka Khan?) can double my entendre anytime. Enn-nee-time. ๐

[ETA Some INFO for 8th Cloud members, from The Cloud:ย If you haven’t received your 8th Cloud membership card by the time you leave for your trip to South Korea for Rain’s concert(s), please don’t fret.ย If you do happen to land any of the special Cloud tickets for one of Rain’s concerts in August or September, all you have to do is remember to take your passport with you to present to The Cloud.ย That should be easy, because when you are traveling in a foreign country, you should always keep your passport on your person anyway, right?ย To pick up your tickets from The Cloud staff, you will need to present your passport, so that they can properly identify you and match up your identity with their fan club records.ย If you do NOT bring the proper identification with you proving you are who you say you are, then the tickets WILL NOT be released to you.ย So, please don’t forget.ย Sounds simple, right?ย Thanks,ย Terri :-}]

Dear 8th Clouds: We have written these instructions based on information posted on the English Talkย board by RoseHoong and translated by ํ๋, and also from additional information provided to us by the overseas fan coordinator. We’re not sure if you will have to go through Interpark or not by purchasing through The Cloud (probably not), but at this moment, Interpark isn’t something you have to deal with.
Additional information on the other concerts stops will be forthcoming very soon.
โข There are 2 blocks of fan club seats, Block A and Block B, in Busan for August 13 (Saturday 7 pm) and August 14 (Sunday 5 pm). Decide which block you wish to apply for (sit in), for either or both shows.
(Chart translations by Stephe : ๋ฌด๋ย (mudae) = stage / ํฌ ์ (paen seog) A & B = fan seats A & B)
โข Each Email application can be for one person or can include up to a maximum of 4 people in a group (including the person doing the emailing). They must ALL be 8th Cloud members.
โข You can send your Email application a maximum of 4 times (this is to help with the problem of false startsโmistakenly sending ahead of time). Acceptance is on a first come, first serve basis. Any Email sent before the starting time will not be counted. If you send more than 4 Emails, you will be put at the end of the queue.
โข The times to apply for seating by Email are as follows: For the August 13 show, 9-10 pm Saturday night July 9 KST (which is 8-9 am Saturday morning EST). For the August 14 show, 10-11 pm Saturday night July 9 KST (which is 9-10 am Saturday morning EST). Please check the time in your area. ย The Email addresses are as follows:

SECTION 2. For Rain fans who are not Blue 8th Clouds, are NOT already registered on Interpark, and wish to buy tickets for Rain The Best Show 2011 as individuals (also for Blue 8th Clouds who don’t manage to get special fan seating through The Cloud, or who wish to personally pick their own seats):

ยป Go to Rain’s Korea tour page on Interpark HERE, just as a starting point. Look up in the far right-hand corner and click on the ENGLISH option.
ยปย This takes you to the Interpark English ticketing page for all musicals, concerts, and sports shows. PLEASE note: Rain’s concert tickets will not be available for purchase until July 11, so at this time, the tour is not listed. This process is simply to get you registered on the Interpark site anyway, so that is not a concern. Just pick one of the shows that are available, for now, and click on the show title or icon. (I’m choosing FT Island.)
ยป This takes you to the actual show order page. To your right is a white and green BOOK NOW button in an “Available Dates” box. Click on BOOK NOW.
ยป This gets you a pop-up box where you can either log in as a returning customer OR create an account as a new customer. CLICK “I am a new customer”, fill out all the fields, and CLICK “Create account.”
ยป You should then get a confirmation box like this. CLICK on OK. This should bring up the “Buy Tickets” page for the show, in the pop-up box, which will walk you through the six steps of the purchasing process. But for now, just close the box/page.
ยปย When you return to the Interpark English ticketing page (with all the musicals, concerts, and sports shows listed), on the top right of the page you should see “log out”, which means you are logged in to Interpark under your new account. Simply log out and return on July 11. On that day you should be able to log in, click on Rain’s concert, and buy your tickets.
We created our own accounts and tested the process when we found this method, so it should work just fine. We hope this is of help. Good luck! Let us know how it goes!

Having been graced with our own Olympiad (Atlanta, Summer 1996), we send hearty congrats and goodwill to the city of PyeongChang, South Korea, who will host the XXIII Olympic Winter Games. And from what we can see, PyeongChang won by a landslide, in the first round. The bidding began back in 2009, the announcement of the winner came down yesterday, and the partying will continue on today, we are sure.
Good job! We are looking forward to the spectacular showcase they are sure to put together over the next seven years. ํ๊ตญ! ๊ฐ์!

Rain Plans Korea Tour Before Military Duties
With his inevitable mandatory military enlistment looming ahead this upcoming August, singer Rain is planning on one “final” treat for his fans.
Starting off in Busan on August 13-14th, Rain will hit up Daegu on the 27th, Jeju Island on September 3rd, Gwangju on the 17th, Daejeon the following day, and end in Seoul on September 24-25.
Titled “The Best Show”, Rain shared on his tour, “We’re currently in talks of picking the perfect venues to have special shows for my fans in Korea that have supported me all this time. I plan on pouring everything into this tour.”
The world star just finished an Asia tour where he made stops in Beijing, Gwangzhou, Macao, Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, and Japan to perform for a total of 100,000 fans.
Tickets for his “The Best Show” Korean tour will go on sale starting July 11th.

City of Dreams is Macao’s leading leisure destination and is located right in the heart of the Cotai area. It is also one of the locations where The Fugitive: Plan B was filmed. Today, City of Dreams released their video report on The Fugitive press conference in Macao that took place August 24, 2010, well before the drama’s premiere.
There are two things I distinctly remember from this…
1) The media got wind of the fact (from Director Kwak) that there would be a kissing scene filmed inside the famous House of Dancing Water theater, went nuts, and spread all over that Rain was going to be locking lips with one of the actresses in that magnificent place and who, oh WHO would it be? They were so excited, and had us all convinced. But during the episode in question (which didn’t air until like, October), the kissers turned out to be JinYi (Na-Young) and Kai (Henney) while JiWoo stewed in his own juices in a police car, heartbroken over her callous disregard for him. JiWoo got NO play. Boy, did I laugh at the Media shooting its own self in the foot yet again (in between thoughts of strangling JinYi with my bare hands for hurting JiWoo like that). Haha.
And 2) Rain was criticized and called obscene by netizens galore because of the ETRO suit he wore to the press conference, all because the designer had a stitched animal print in a certain place on the trousers set out for Rain to wear. But Rain had defenders too, who thought people just needed to grow up and get a frickin’ life. I personally loved that suit. The gray fabric was perfect against his gorgeous tan and black shirt, and I was absolutely intrigued by what I considered to be a king cobra peeking out of Rain’s zipper. It doesn’t get any more appropriate than that, folks. Added some spice to my morning coffee, yessiree. ๐

Do you remember when you first found Rain? When you became a fan, or when you became a Cloud?
