As you recall, PID (Performance In the Darkness) was responsible for the laser displays that started off the ADIEU!2010 with Rain shows and his The BEST Rain Asia tour concerts. I do believe they’ve recently performed on Korea’s Got Talent 2. Thumbs up, guys and gals!

The main trailer for R2B: Return to Base has been released.
The new trailer gives fans a better look at the story’s characters including Rain, Shin Se Kyung and others. The thrilling action scenes and special effects shown in the trailer have already won praise from critics and viewers.
R2B: Return to Base tells the story of a group of unidentified fighter pilots appearing in Seoul’s skies and Korea’s best fighter pilots duking it out in the skies to protect Seoul’s citizens.
In addition to a star-studded cast, the movie enlisted the help of experts in aviation who previously worked for Hollywood movies such as The Dark Knight and Inception. R2B: Return to Base will premiere in early August.

I feel this way too—that R2B will be more than able to handle the competition coming its way. The Total Recall remake (which I don’t expect to be better than Schwarzenegger’s) is the only other thing I see that gets my interest. That’s not saying that all of these other summer movies are lacking in any way, no no no. Just that in standing back and taking in the whole scheme of things, R2B: Return to Base feels sure-fire. ^@@^

R2B: Return to Base has confirmed its premiere date to be August 15.
The film has been highly anticipated as it is the last piece singer-turned-actor Rain (Jung Ji Hoon) shot before his enlistment, and is also Korea’s first plane action film.
Due to Jung Ji Hoon’s enlistment schedule, the film has been promoting ever since the Busan International Film Festival took place last year.
There were rumors then that it would be released in the beginning of 2012, but as the date was pushed back to the summer the producers continued to perfect the film with a few last touches.
As much consideration was put into choosing the premiere date, the competition R2B will be meeting seems fairly beatable. It avoids a head-on competition with Hollywood blockbusters, and will also be spaced apart from other anticipated Korean films.
The Hollywood blockbuster The Dark Knight Rises, which is set for a success already with 80 percent of ticket reserve sales, will premiere on July 19, a month before August 15.
The Thieves will premiere on July 25, setting R2B a long three weeks away. The musical film Rock of Ages, which stars Tom Cruise, will start showing on August 2, but it wasn’t as big a success in the North American box office, leading to less anticipation in Korea.
Gone with the Wind and I Am the King, which will premiere on August 9, are light comedies, meaning their genres don’t overlap with R2B. The two films are actually expected to compete with each other.
Nearer to its premiere date, R2B will be directly facing Total Recall and Step Up 4: Revolution. Total Recall is a remake of the film of the same title that premiered 22 years ago in 1990.
Because the original was such a big success with Arnold Schwarzenegger, the remake is also gathering attention. The dance film Step Up 4 is making some issues, but it’s not the kind that marks a big success in the box office. Its genre also is completely different from R2B.
So R2B is set to compete with Total Recall, but Total Recall is a remake while R2B is an original. It’s even Korea’s first plane action film, which means that R2B may have the upper hand in the competition.

Rain, who is currently serving as a PR agent in the army’s Defense Media Agency (DEMA), will be present at the soldier marathon event to be held in Yeoido on September 15.
Rain and his fellow PR agents Yoo Gun, Im Joo Hwan, Kim Jae Wook, KCM and Untouchable’s Sleepy and D-Action will perform at the event for the soldiers.
On July 16 an official for the event told enews, “Private Jung Ji Hoon (Rain) will be there, but we don’t know whether he’ll run the course also. It depends on the soldier’s own will.”
Ordinary civilians can also run alongside soldiers in the marathon. There are half, 10km and 5km courses ready, and applications will be accepted until the end of the month.
Rain has performed in a number of military-related concerts since he was transferred to the PR unit in March. He flew to Vietnam soon after his transfer to perform in the concert celebrating Korea and Vietnam’s 20 years of diplomatic ties.
His appearance at the time made big issues thanks to the crowds of local fans that gathered to see him. He also performed for the Children’s Day event in May, and in the K-Pop special concert headed by DEMA at the Yeosu Expo on June 16.
He is currently regularly performing on KFN TV’s Morale Train for his fellow soldiers.
Although he has performed in so many concerts, it’s been hard to catch him in Seoul. He did appear at the Radienteering Competition hosted by DEMA and the Seoul National Cemetery on June 22, but not many civilians were present because the event wasn’t as well known among the public.
His upcoming appearance in the marathon, which will take place in the middle of busy downtown Seoul, is thus being received by his fans as a bit of good news.
Rain performs in a variety of events as a PR agent, and hosts the Friends FM weekend show Rain and KCM’s Speeding Instinct.

Due for release in South Korea in August 2012.
Rain may be in the middle of his military service but that doesn’t stop him from dominating entertainment news. Right now there is a lot of hype about new South Korean movie “R2B: Return to Base” expected to be this summer’s blockbuster.
But lets not let Rain steal all the limelight, another reason why this movie is expected to be a huge hit is due to it’s star studded cast. As well as Superstar Rain, R2B will also be starring Jung Suk Won whom we saw in last week’s KCC film screening Il Mare. Shin Sekyung whom we saw in popular Korean Drama Fashion King this year. Lee Jong Suk, super awesome brooding musician from Secret Garden and we’ll also be seeing Rain reunited with his “buddy” from his Full House days Kim Sung-soo. Fun Fact: Lee Ha Na another member of this star studded cast was the voice of the angelic narrator in one of our favourite South Korean documentary by Song Il-gon “Dance of Time”.
This movie is about Rain being awesome. What? You need more information? Ok so Rain plays the role of Taehoon who is the youngest pilot of the special acrobatic air force team Black Eagle. After showing off his awesomeness, he gets transferred to the a combat unit. Cue a lot of male testosterone, a love story and some kick ass action. This will definitely fill our Avengers void!!! We have also read that apparently, aerospace experts were consulted and this film is fully supported by Korea’s actual Air Force so get ready for some breathtaking action. R2B’s Shin Se Kyung Dishes on Her Kiss Scene With Rain
Shin Se Kyung has opened up about her kiss scene in the movie R2B: Return to Base with her co-star Rain.
The press conference for R2B: Return to Base on July 13, was attended by director Kim Dong Won, actors Kim Sung Soo, Shin Se Kyung, Lee Ha Na, Lee Jong Seok and the other actors of the movie.
On this day, meeting with enews Shin Se Kyung shared, “In the movie my character has a growing relationship with Rain.”
When asked if there was any kiss scene with her co-star, she answered, “There was. There was a sweet kiss scene with Rain oppa, which we shot and finished.”
In the movie, Shin Se Kyung plays the role of mechanic Yoo Se Young who works with the fighter pilot Jung Tae Hoon (Rain).
In the movie preview shown for the press on this day, Rain’s character winking at Shin Se Kyung while Shin Se Kyung responded with a smile.
However the actress then added, “But I think in the post-production the scene was cut out. It was a great scene but I’m sad it was edited out.”
When asked if the story would end with a happy ending she replied, “You will find out by watching the movie.”
Regarding the kiss scene, director Kim Dong Won said, “We’re still working on the editing,” leaving open the possibility the kiss scene would be shown in the final cut.
R2B: Return to Base, centered on the world of fighter pilots, will premiere in August.

Do you realize that JiHoon has now completed nine months in the ROK Army? And that one year from today, he’ll be discharged and back into civilian life? I think that if I were him on July 10, 2013, right after the media onslaught I would padlock myself in my bedroom with a ton of food and bunch of women and REFUSE to see or talk to another guy for at least a week. But that’s just me.

SONG OF THE WEEK: “Any Dream”, Rain’s second Chinese single release (2008), for sponsor Samsung’s Anycall phone campaign. It was also a theme song for the Olympic Games in Beijing. I think it’s about time we finally have the man singing in Chinese and English up in here, don’t you? And it’s about time y’all got served. Haha. This Samsung video is the making of the “Any Dream” short film. Very cool.

This, to me, is pretty darned special, folks. This is another lunaluna creation, set to the 2003 collaboration between a newly debuted Rain and the JYPE male duo One Two (원투).
One Two (friends Song Ho Bum and Oh Chang Hoon, already veteran K-Poppers) was created by Park JinYoung. Fans loved the fact that they were reminiscent of the legendary group Clon. The duo debuted in the summer of 2003 (one year after Rain), and this particular song was Track 12 on their first album. They’ve been very successful and active in the years since, and even have collabs with idols and artists like IU, After School, Narsha, Navi, MC Mong, Jewelry, etc.
No way can my ears miss when JiHoon’s distinctive voice comes in and out of this song. It’s got that breathless whiskey’ed up sound to it. 🙂 One Two sound pretty darned breathless and smooth themselves on this thing! Do enjoy One Two’s “The Best Summer of My Life” featuring Rain.
