5/2. R.A.I.N. Company and interested parties have announced that Rain will be the main eventer at this year’s Viral Fest Asia, Asia’s Number 1 digital music festival, in Bangkok, Thailand. … that he’s on set for his new movie, where he’ll portray winning cyclist, activist, and national hero Uhm Bok Dong (b.1892 – d.1951). As you may recall, the filming location is Hapcheon Image Theme Park in Gyeongnam.
Now, I must say that the image I came across first, after he posted, puzzled the heck out of me. One of his hashtags was #beautysalon (#미용실, mi-yong-shil) but as far as I could tell the sign over the door (숙이구이, that font was killing me!) said “steak grill” or “lean grill.” I was pretty sure I’d effed up something and didn’t know what the heck I was doing, hahaha. ^@@^

The first part of this video is about where Rain’s upcoming movie Uhm Bok Dong will start filming this month — Hapcheon Image Theme Park, in Gyeongnam, about 200 miles south of Seoul. Bravo Gyeongnam’s YouTube channel comments about the movie park are as follows:
“Built in 2004, Hapcheon Image Theme Park is Korea’s open set for filming movies and dramas in the background of 1920’s to 80’s. Wealth can be measured in various ways, and real estate is a prime example.
During its April 18 broadcast, SBS’s “Night of Real Entertainment” took a look at the 10 Korean celebrities who currently hold the most amount of real estate, after recent news of Jun Ji Hyun’s recent purchase of a multi-million dollar building in the Gangnam district of Seoul.
The actress now holds 77 billion won (approximately $67.7 million) worth of real estate, making her the second wealthiest in terms of property holdings. In a previous assessment back in 2014, Jun Ji Hyun was notably the only female in the list of wealthy stars based on similar factors, and had placed seventh at the time.
SM Entertainment’s founder Lee Soo Man maintains his spot in first place, with 110 billion won (approximately $96.6 million) in real estate, while YG Entertainment’s founder Yang Hyun Suk also continues in third place, holding around 53.1 billion won (approximately $46.7 million) of property.
Singers Rain and Seo Taiji are in fourth and fifth place, with holdings worth 43.8 billion won (approximately $38.5 million) and 41 billion won (approximately $36 million) respectively.
Actors Jang Geun Suk, Jo Jae Hyun, Kwon Sang Woo, and Song Seung Hun follow in sixth, seventh, eighth, and ninth place, respectively. Jang Geun Suk owns 38 billion won (approximately $33.4 million) in real estate, Jo Jae Hyun owns 36 billion won (approximately $31.6 million), Kwon Sang Woo owns 35 billion won (approximately $30.8 million), while Song Seung Hun owns 33.4 billion won (approximately $29.3 milllion).
In 10th place is entertainer and retired athlete Seo Jang Hoon, whose property holdings worth 30.9 billion won (approximately $27.2 million) were recently revealed to the public.

As I understand it, amateur golfer and enthusiast Rain was invited to the Samchully Together Open 2017 (a stop on the LPGA Tour in South Korea) to encourage and support new golfers. He was there wearing Bridgestone and looking like a million bucks (of course!). For his first project after marriage, Hallyu singer-actor Rain (Come Back, Ajusshi) has chosen Uhm Bok-dong, a film set during the Japanese occupation era, about the titular character based on a real-life cyclist, who became a symbol of hope for the oppressed Korean people.
The movie will delve into how Uhm Bok-dong became such a beloved figure in Korea’s independence movement and it will also feature the freedom fighting group Euiyeoldan. Rain will play the people’s hero, cyclist Uhm Bok-dong, and Kang So-ra (Neighborhood Lawyer Jo Deul-ho) has confirmed her role as the female lead. She will be reuniting with her Sunny friends Min Hyo-rin (Persevere, Gu Hae-ra) and Park Jin-joo (1% of Anything), who have also signed on to be in the film.
At Director Kim Yoon-sung’s request, actor Lee Beom-soo has agreed to try his hand at helping produce the film, and may even make a small cameo in it. Other actors who have joined the cast to play integral (although as-of-yet unannounced) roles in the film include Go Chang-seok (Kill Me, Heal Me) and Lee Kyung-young (D-Day), and Lee Shi-un (W—Two Worlds).
While the subject matter of the movie may be serious and heavy, just looking at the cast so far, especially with the addition of comedic actor Lee Shi-un and the Sunny girls, makes me think that we might be in for an uplifting, hopeful film. So if everything goes well, we could be in for a movie in the vein of Forrest Gump, which would be amazing.
Filming for Uhm Bok-dong will begin starting this April.

B2B Cambodia 3/4/2017—
South Korean K-Pop legend Rain made his debut performance in Cambodia, headlining the Smart Mega Concert on Diamond Island for between 40,000 to 50,000 fans last Thursday night.
The concert was organised by IMS Consulting Group, Cambodia’s premier media agency, in partnership with top rated television network SEATV and exclusively sponsored by leading telecom Smart Axiata.
The decision to air the Smart Mega Concert live across the country during SEATV prime time was made after Rain’s local fans inundated the organisers with requests. The concert is understood to have reached a majority share of Cambodia’s television audience making it the highest viewed televised broadcast for several years.
At a press conference held earlier in the day at NagaWorld hotel, Rain made his first public appearance with the media and a group of contest-winning Smart Axiata subscribers. While answering questions from reporters, Rain explained he was so happy to finally be performing in Cambodia and thanked his local fans for their support in making it possible.
There were already large crowds gathered on Koh Pich when the Smart Mega Concert started at 5pm with a celebration of original Cambodian songs performed by many of the country’s most popular singers including Khmeng Khmer, Eda, Laura Mam, Nikki Nikki, P-Sand and Bross La.
At 8:30pm, a crescendo of cheers rang out from the audience as Rain launched into the first of two sets showcasing his unique mix of high energy, R&B styled K-Pop. The star – also known as Jung Ji-hoon – sang some of his best-known hit songs such as “It’s Raining”, “Hip Song”, “How To Avoid The Sun”, “I Do” and “La Song”, all of which received an overwhelmingly positive response from the tens of thousands of assembled fans.
Following the successful conclusion of the concert, representatives of event organiser IMS Consulting Group praised Rain’s exhilarating performance before highlighting both the professional partnership with SEATV and strong support from Smart Asiata in making the King of K-Pop’s Cambodian debut possible.

Men, women, and children fans were there en masse when our fashion plate arrived at Phnom Penh International Airport wearing Givenchy (thanks to lingshyu66 and sunnypeony for that tip) and his brand new Nike Air VaporMaxes. Pandemonium ensued! What a welcome! 😀
He wasn’t all smiley and stuff (though he did wave at fans several times), but honestly, so what? He hasn’t been sitting around eating bonbons. He’s been working non-stop after settling in after his honeymoon, rehearsing for multiple performances and fan meetings and shooting CFs and making appearances and preparing for a movie role and making more music and flying all over God’s creation in order to get this stuff done. Rain is still a workaholic, so he still gets tired or under the weather sometimes. Does anyone or any of us smile in public 24/7? I think not. ^@@^

Newly married Rain and Kim Tae Hee’s cover and feature images in the upcoming April 2017 issue of Harper’s Bazaar Korea Magazine are just cute. And sweet. And adorable. Everything I wanted.
Even though it’s a high fashion shoot (they are both wearing Dior’s Summer 2017 Collection, and Dior is high fashion with a capital “H”) and it’s on an amazing set (Rain’s home pics have never shown a dark “museum” like this where everything is perfectly coiffed and in place… he likes nice things but has always shown a comfortable simplicity and natural light in his personal spaces), they still manage to gel as nicely as a couple would at home. Superb! You can see it, how comfortable they are with each other. It’s palpable. Nice job. 🙂
