Saw Rain & his close friend Baekga having pizza at a pizza place while passing along a tree-lined street today. When my eyes met Rain’s gaze, I just stood paralyzed… He’s much younger than me, but I was so backward enough to quickly leave the place, feeling small in his presence.. ㅠㅠ
Oh, my heavens. We don’t know if we can take this “grown man” thing after all. I cannot even see straight enough or concentrate long enough to post this picture properly. (Where did I save it on my hard drive? Gah. I’ll just download it again…)

MBLAQ’s Mir will not participate in Japanese promotions in February
On February 21, MBLAQ’s Mir posted an update on the group’s official Japanese website. He expressed his apologies for not being able to join the other MBLAQ members during their promotions in Japan for the month of February.
His message read, “Good afternoon, everyone. I am Mir from MBLAQ. We have decided to debut in Japan in May. I am very happy for this, but I am nervous for our meeting. Because of my injury, I can’t move very well for a while, so I am not able to participate in the Japanese recordings right now. I am really sorry. I hope to meet everyone soon, but I will be patient for now. Until then, I hope everyone will be well! Please wait! Please support MBLAQ. – Mir”.

Cloud USA Forum moderator Katie clued us in to this very cool Bloomberg segment. And afterwards, I was pretty stoked to see it posted on a KPop news and media site. I mean, KPop isn’t something that I would expect to find dissected and respected on Bloomberg, frankly. On that same token, I wouldn’t expect to find a Bloomberg report even noticed by most KPop sites. Color me impressed.
And so I’m bringing this to you (the KPop segment begins at minute marker 10:30) because many of you aren’t just Rain fans, you’re KPOP fans. It gives a lot of up to date insights into the industry and the second Korean Wave, and you might even see some of your other favorite poppers showcased.
(Rain is not mentioned. A KPop article on MBLAQ’s fan meeting, however, is used as a reference.)
The international success of the Korean pop music industry is growing by the day. Bloomberg’s weekend program, “Monocle”, has chosen this week to feature Seoul, South Korea and its blooming music industry. “Monocle” is a program that highlights particular areas of the globe and discusses a central matter or issue.
Likening the power of Korean pop to music produced in the US, the report raised three main areas of discussion: the Korean pop industry as Korea’s real economic power and most potent export, the significance of social media in the success of Korean pop, and the fact that Korean pop is more than just music, and essentially a package of both visual and audio appeal.
Big Bang’s GD and TOP were also featured briefly as a top, “two of the most recognizable faces in Asia” and appeared in short interview clips, both sharing their views on the industry. TOP commented, “However you look at it, people seem to be feeling a sense of discovery and mystery about Korea. It seems that they’re seeing us in a positive light.” In his turn, GD said, “Right now, to know that a lot of fans around the world are listening to music from our tiny country, it’s got to have a huge effect on the Korean music scene. But, as the situation changes very rapidly, the scene’s got to develop just as fast.”
Another familiar face, YG’s Executive Director, Kim Jinu, was also featured, explaining the reality of the social media reform. He said, “YouTube right now is the best vehicle for us to reach our core demographic audience which is young people. The world, not just Korea – there are no boundaries or borders anymore. We no longer have to rely on TV stations and radio stations. Social networking has been the vehicle of choice.”
Other artists mentioned or showcased throughout the segment included BoA, Girls’ Generation, Epik High, Super Junior, 2NE1, and Wonder Girls along their hit single, “Nobody”. Various excerpts from music videos were shown, as a reinforcement to the proposition that Korean pop is quintessentially very visually synchronized with musical appeal. It was likened to “the Madonna and Michael Jackson days of super hero performances”.
His kicks were straight dope. (his sneakers were awesome; sorry for the slang, international friends… I can’t imagine how that would convert in a translator) And goodness, he was all up on the fan-cammer, without knowing it, I presume. ??

Actor and singer Rain (his real name, ‘Jung Ji Hoon’) made a surprise appearance as a guest at singer Psy’s limitedly arranged concert in celebration of ‘the 10th anniversary of his standng concert in little theaters’, which was held in Mary Hall inside of SeoKang University on the afternoon of February 20th.
Rain whose sudden entrance took everyone by surprise, passionately sang Rainism, Love Song, and Hip Song during Pay’s concert, wearing a white T-shirt with sunglasses.
Rain who has been filming movie ‘Red Muffler’ with actress ‘Shin Se Kyung’ recently, told the audience how he was getting along, “I’ve come to attend this concert while filming a movie.” looking wholesome with a short new haircut due to his character as a fighter pilot in the movie.
Rain added, making them laugh, “I wish Pay wouldn’t hold his concert anymore. I feel awkward about the situation where I have to attend his concert all the time just because I’m younger than him.” [Ah, so that’s why we keep seeing you there every year, JiHoon… PSY pulls rank on you. He does that every now and again—the guest bit at friend PSY’s shindigs. And we love seeing JiHoon and PSY together, that right there is a given. Terri and I mesh wonderfully as a team and as 16-year-long BFFs, but occasionally there are moments when we absolutely LOVE each other.
Like today, I adored the woman when I got home and she had left this piece of Benamoo goodness in my email box… JiHoon taking it nice and slow in 2004. (“Nice and Slow” happens to be one of her favorite performances of his, and she’s seen a heck of a lot of them, so if she sends me one I automatically know it’s got to be special.) Thanks, chingu!
JiHoon is just showing out here, having a blast teasing the crowd and sowing his oats and using what his daddy gave him. (Might as well have, it’s not like he could hear himself sing, what with the way the women were dying.) Well crap, I can’t even hear my own self scream, so why don’t I just stroll around and wave at folks? Yeah, they’ll like that.

Rain and the Men having a holiday at Rusutsu Resort, about 80km west of Sapporo in Hokkaidō Prefecture in Japan, after their February 11 performance at the Sapporo Snow Festival/KPop concert where proceeds went to charity. Nice pic! I went digging around, and this was taken at the HIGHEST point of Mt. Isola (the ski/snowboarding peak at Rusutsu Resort with the longest runs, the best tree trails, and the prettiest powder), which is 994 M high. Yowza!
Down here in the A.T.L. (the southeastern U.S., part of the “Dirty South”), we say something similar… We ask you if your ears are burning. Pretty close! Your ears must be burning off of your handsome head, JiHoon. 🙂

I had my Korean lesson yesterday and as usual the teacher handed out his teaching materials. After reading the title I turned to the next page and saw our prince in text book again! The first sentence was
어제 가수 ‘비’ 콘서트에 잘 갔다 왔어요?
(Did you go to singer ‘비’s concert yesterday?)
Although the subsequent content had nothing to do with our prince, I couldn’t help but shouted out with joy reading this sentence! The teacher looked at me and said: “I expected your reaction”
I study Korean because of our prince, what else would you expect from me otherwise?
Interestingly the title of the lesson is “An itching ear” When someone is being talked about by others he will feel his ears itchy! And do I wonder if our prince has to scratch his ears often as we talk so much about him!
Just thought you would enjoy the visuals and find it of interest. I mean, catching a glimpse of any Hip Song stage makes for a good day indeed.

It has finally been confirmed that MBLAQ will make their debut in Japan in May.
A J.Tune Entertainment representative confirmed that MBLAQ has signed with the major label, Sony Music Records for their Japanese debut, which they have been preparing for since last year. Plans for a tour in Japan [have] been decided, but have not yet been finalized. MBLAQ will be releasing their Japanese debut album in April. Their debut promotional activities in Japan will start on May 4.
Take a look at MBLAQ’s official Japanese website, which provides up-to-date information on their schedule, promos and future activities. Keep yourself busy while waiting for their debut by purchasing the 3D edition of BLAQ Style. The 3D edition of BLAQ Style will be released on February 22.

And now from OH MY GOD! 😀 to…. OH MY GOD??? WTH?
Not. Cool.
I ran into the story initially when only the video of the “Oh Yeah” performance was available, and I had no knowledge of Joon’s and J.Tune’s statements about the fall being “for performances purposes.” After all the trials the Boys have had lately (Mir hurt dancing; Joon sickened by an ailment that could affect his balance), to see Joon spin and pitch off the edge like that and the network go to a commercial while fans screamed was pretty alarming. The still photo of him supposedly being tended by EMTs was plain scary.
And yes, I know that entertainers do such things occasionally for shock and awe (remember when Rain pretended to be shot during a show back in the day?). And I do remember that Joon can successfully take a hard bump (teenaged Raizo…). Still.
How utterly stupid—doing something like this within days of Joon’s fans knowing he was sick enough to be taken to a hospital. Not to mention setting up something like this with an artist who’s just been diagnosed with an inner ear problem. He could have easily miscalculated and ended up actually injuring himself. Hello?
I was so excited to see Mir standing and singing with his band mates! And the wonderful progress the Boys have made in singing live while jumping around during a performance. Loved the voices and how sharp and grown up they were making “Oh Yeah” look. Hot. And then it all went south.
MBLAQ’s Lee Joon’s Fall during MTV Daum Festival was Staged?
On February 19, on the MTV Daum Festival stage, fans were horrified as, towards the end of MBLAQ’s performance of their song Oh Yeah, Lee Joon suddenly fell off of the stage.
The fall happens at the 3:10 minute mark in the video below, where Joon spins and then abruptly falls, face first, off of the side of stage:
MBLAQ’s performance immediately ended and “medics” arrived to examine Joon. Obviously, he was not injured, as he was performing again shortly afterward.
Later, Joon explained in a Cyworld entry that the fall had been staged in advance and that he had not been injured, because he had been protected by safety equipment. He said:
You must have been very very worried…In many ways…I’m sorry…About me falling down today at the MTV festival, I was set up with safety equipment before falling off…It was our first stage concept. We created this to show the meaning of something like being renewed and born again after failing…Thankfully, I landed safely. My heart is heavy because I caused so much worry…I’m sorry for always causing you to worry.
Although Joon’s fans are delighted that he wasn’t injured, some of them aren’t happy about the staged fall, and are frustrated about having to worry in the first place. Others truly enjoyed the drama. Some attendees of the show have reported that the show was meant to be shocking and that the “medical” team that attended to Joon were really stylists dressed up as a medical team, and that they stopped the show to give the “accident” credibility.
What do you think about this kind of concept staging? Do you think this kind of dramatic concept enhances a musical performance or hinders it?

Right off the bat, Director Kwak and Daniel Henney (Kai, who throws some English into the piece for us) practice being in a clench. ROFL!
Goodness, as we’re quite used to already… Rain (JiWoo) and Henney simply tower over everyone else at the shoot. You can just tell those two are cooking something up around the minute 3:08 marker, uh-huh… And sure enough, here it comes. “Batman” and his sidekick “Robin” advising NaYoung (JinYi) to shake that ass. LMAO! Holy…?? LMAO!
I loved Henney taking a moment to give us his thoughts on Rain and NaYoung as fellow cast mates. The man is very gracious, indeed. ♥
Check out how Rain is JiHoon one second and JiWoo the next, starting at minute 5:14. Director Kwak’s call for action is like flipping a switch in him as you watch, even though he’s only using his face. Amazing.

The 7th Cloud executive board reconfirmed Rain’s mailing address on The Cloud today, apparently because, since J.Tune Camp changed location twice last year (first at the very end of May 2010, and then again at the beginning of this past December 2010), some folks are still confused though the new address was given out at that time.

(Rain rehearses on the Rain’s Coming stage for his 2007 world tour)
This is one of our favorite fan vids ever, made with footage from RAINY DAY Season 1, when Rain and the Men were in Los Angeles to learn and rehearse the choreography for “Rainism” in 2008.
The darker shots were in studio under the watchful eye of noted choreographer AJ (where Rain rolled his foot really badly and scared the heck out of people). The brighter studio was after the choreographer had finished up, and Rain went to work on tailoring the moves exactly the way he wanted them. (After this, he and the Crew headed off to a massive mansion in Thailand to film the music video.)
By the time they got to the second LA studio, JiHoon was double-dog tired (what a surprise) but still had his sense of humor fully intact. He was so sweaty that he couldn’t get the relief pads for sore muscles to stay stuck to his skin—the things would just peel right off. The Men themselves, despite their exhaustion, were complete clowns and imagined themselves thugs gonna go out in the streets of LA and rumble, » as evidenced by the picture in this post and this video right HERE, from our Dancers’ Page, starting at minute 3:53. (KyuSang was serious as hell; we don’t know what Hongshi was doing LMAO) They would not let the man do a decent interview, had to try to trip him up. LOL! You know JiHoon was just itching to smack them down. 🙂
Well, I didn’t have to go into all that, but you know me. Gah.

In Episode 14 of MBC television drama “My Princess” 마이 프린세스 (Ma-i Peu-rin-se-seu), main character “Lee Seol”, played by Kim TaeHee, shares her wish list of personal teachers for an upcoming schooling project. And of course the hottest dancer was on it.
Kim Tae-hee “I want to study English with John Park”… reveals wish list
Playful princess Kim Tae-hee revealed her wish list to study with handsome teachers, planning ‘the best princess project’.
On the fourteenth episode of the MBC drama “My Princess” on the 17th, she gets new princess lessons. After looking at the full schedule her new teacher, deputy director Kim gives her, Lee Seol tells her she will plan her own schedule. She then passes her a list of names of celebrities from all over the world and other popular stars as her personal teachers.
She wished for Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs as her finance teacher and popular Japanese actor Joe Odagiri as her Japanese teacher. Another teacher was John Park as her English teacher. She had once mentioned John Park on the tenth episode when Hae-young asked her who her favorite singer was.
She also appointed Rain as her choreographer, B2st as her vocal teachers, Shinee for her art teacher and Kim Nam-gil as her horseback riding teacher. She had made her wish list with everyone she likes. She hands the wish list over to Deputy Kim and says, “You should have them all here by this week? Show me what you got!”
Actually the list Deputy Kim made for her was a special order from the president who wanted to stop the imperial family. He told her, “Make her dumb in politics and history, and grow her luxury tastes and intelligence.” So the schedule made by Deputy Kim was only full of luxury subjects like horseback riding, the cello, waltz and fashion. Lee Seol had nicely taken revenge on the president by re-editing all this and creating a list of her won with her favorites.
Meanwhile in the fourteenth episode of the drama Lee Seol comes back to the palace after reuniting with Hae-young in the pension and shows off her charisma.
Amongst the complicated relationships of the unfinished Park Dong-jae’s (Lee Soon-jae) truth, secretary manager Oh Gi-ta (Maeng Sang-hoon) and Yoon-joo’s (Park Ye-jin) desires, whether or not Lee Seol and Hae-young will have a happy ending in in question.
Gaze upon this, Rain fans… more of the Man and his Men at the Sapporo Snow Festival’s KPop show for charity back on February 11, laying down “Hip Song.” Terrific!
And yes, JiHoon was being very careful not to make any sudden or death defying moves in those lovely pants. Smart guy. 🙂

[Cloud USA — 2/18/2011] As you know by now, Rain has added yet another cover to his already rather “cover-full” career.
Not only will he be gracing the front of the upcoming March 2011 issue of Esquire Magazine (Vol. 186, Korea), he will also be their feature story concerning who Jung JiHoon is now that he is 30 years old (in Korean age; he’ll only be 29 internationally on his birthday in June this year), the establishing of new his goals, and gravitating towards a “30-ish state of mind.”
As we understand it, Rain’s attire in this photo shoot was provided by Alfred Dunhill clothing, his watch was by his endorser Cartier, his stylist was Park HyeJung, hair and makeup was by Choi Sunhwa/Total Nitrogen, and the photos were taken by Park JiHyuk. [Edited to add: Word on the street is this photo shoot was done while Rain was in Paris, back in January.]
For the moment, we do know that the magazine is available on the InterPark book order site (only in Hangeul that we can see; it is InterPark’s ticket site that has an English counterpart), and on the Yes24 order site (Hangeul only). We will be scouting around for any Internet order sites where English-speakers can purchase it as well.
Congratulations on this new accomplishment, JiHoon. It really is a wonderful cover indeed. There is no doubt in our minds that you are what we and Esquire call a “grown man” now. And if, by chance, you are asking by your expression if your fans are ready for the next move that you’re contemplating…

Yes, it was Beginning To Rain All Over The World when JiHoon graced the cover of Esquire back in November 2008. As we understand it, this was around the same time he became the first Korean male on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar Korea, and did a feature spread for Harper’s with supermodel Hye Park.
As he’d promised, he was making a comeback in S. Korea after being gone for several years filming Speed Racer and Ninja Assassin. Can you dig it? ♥

When my father who’s a commissioned officer in the air force told my mother yesterday, “Rain and his co-stars will visit our army base to do some preliminary research before filming a movie called ‘Red Muffler’. Actresses who Rain plays in the movie with will visit other army base (the 18th reconnaissance wing)”, my mother said, “Your inferiors could be disappointed since actresses won’t come to your army camp.”
The much-awaited day arrived, and today my father sent a SMS to me, attaching a picture showing Rain’s autograph to, that says “Republic of Korea Air Force is great!!! Thank you always ♡.”
I later found that actor ‘Yu Joon Sahng’, ‘Kim Jung Soo’, actress ‘Lee Ha Na’, actor ‘Jung Kyung Ho’, and actor ‘Lee Jong Seok’ were also there, including Rain.
In fact, I’m a fan of actor ‘Lee Jong Seok’, so I asked my father to get his autograph and had another SMS with a picture showing his autograph in a few minutes, that says “I’ve been briefed very well, and I’ll help make a movie which will be a big hit, studying and practicing acting harder.”
I was suddenly proud of my father, and I believe that this new movie will be a big hit !!!
As soon as the movie comes out, I’ll be the first person to see it even during examination.

His NY gold-studded Bling losing its Velcro grip was a blessing, because that meant he had to rip that flack jacket off way ahead of time during “Love Song.” Yessss.
Was “Love Story” a little too hot for Sohu to handle? 🙂

And now from OH MY GOD! 😀 to…. OH MY GOD??? WTH?
Not. Cool.
I ran into the story initially when only the video of the “Oh Yeah” performance was available, and I had no knowledge of Joon’s and J.Tune’s statements about the fall being “for performances purposes.” After all the trials the Boys have had lately (Mir hurt dancing; Joon sickened by an ailment that could affect his balance), to see Joon spin and pitch off the edge like that and the network go to a commercial while fans screamed was pretty alarming. The still photo of him supposedly being tended by EMTs was plain scary.
And yes, I know that entertainers do such things occasionally for shock and awe (remember when Rain pretended to be shot during a show back in the day?). And I do remember that Joon can successfully take a hard bump (teenaged Raizo…). Still.
How utterly stupid—doing something like this within days of Joon’s fans knowing he was sick enough to be taken to a hospital. Not to mention setting up something like this with an artist who’s just been diagnosed with an inner ear problem. He could have easily miscalculated and ended up actually injuring himself. Hello?
I was so excited to see Mir standing and singing with his band mates! And the wonderful progress the Boys have made in singing live while jumping around during a performance. Loved the voices and how sharp and grown up they were making “Oh Yeah” look. Hot. And then it all went south.
