[fan cam] Someone else got Rain’s arrival in Sapporo.

•February 17, 2011 • 3 Comments

A bit jerky and blurry, but what the hey—it’s JiHoon on video on February 10 and we’re sure it wasn’t easy to get, what with the crowd going insane and all. The policemen looked terrified! 😀

Enjoy this little piece of the Man on the way to his snow date.  Thanks to the fan-cammer for sharing.

MBLAQ check: The Boys to make their official debut in Japan in May.

•February 17, 2011 • 7 Comments

That would be May 4, 2011, to be exact.

Yessir, just as Rain hyung has an official Japanese site (J.Tune Camp Rain Japan) as well as his official Korean site, his Boys now have their own official Japanese site in addition to their official Korean site. And their debut in Japan coming in May will be the icing on that cake.

Hopefully Mir and Joon will be 100% and raring to go. They must all be pretty stoked right now, because this is exciting stuff.

Aja, BLAQ Style!

You can find all four of these absolutely delicious sites to the right, in our media blog sidebar, under JIHOON’s COMMUNITY and RAIN WORLDWIDE.

•February 17, 2011 • 18 Comments

Remember? JiHoon, the Crew, and their strategically placed TAILS? 😉

Yeaaaah.

We’ve seen the broadcast footage, sure, but not the fan cam. The crowd was screaming as if they were being killed. The fans around the fan-cammer were in flat-out convulsions. Ohh, there’s KyuSang, YongDeock, SungTak, Gori, Hongshi… and is that NamYong?? *scream* Rain was seducing everyone who could see him. Look at that sly grin! Look at his reaction when he hears his name—sheer pleasure. Heh. If you don’t damn near pass out watching this, you have a strong constitution, my friends, because this is gold.

J.Tune or JYPE: Whichever name you claim, please get with the program.

•February 16, 2011 • 20 Comments

J.Tune Creative has not only adopted the new DRAFTWORKS logo for their Facebook page, the same as their new Twitter…

They’ve also announced that Rain’s still very much sought-after Legend of Rainism Tour and Rain Loves Japan/ZEPP Tour merchandise has been made available for purchase at open markets on the Internet (Ebay Auction Korea, SK Telecom’s 11th Street, and G-Market). The links to the purchase pages for these Rain items are listed HERE on J.Tune Creative @Facebook.

The problem is, unfortunately for English-speakers, these sites are only in Hangeul, that we can see. As if it isn’t a proven fact that JiHoon has English-speaking fans ALL OVER THE PLACE. *shrug* Honestly, how long is it going to take the Powers That Be to GET WITH THE PROGRAM? Do you want Rain’s items purchased or not? :/

For the love of God, will someone get JiHoon some American and European distributors?

We’re sitting here with money in our hands. WHAT are y’all waiting for? *incredulous*

Just an FYI: Good heavens, they were WHERE?

That was my first reaction when I saw this map of Sapporo Tiene. As you can see by the ID pass that dancer Gori tweeted, these are the ski slopes he and Rain and pals just frolicked and played on in Japan, after the Sapporo Snow Festival/KPop concert. And my eye went immediately to the TOP peak. Holy mackerel, that’s HIGH!

But then my brain registered that the ID pass specified Tiene Olympia. And my eye moved down. And I thought, Whew! Okay, that I can work with. 🙂

[post] Word on the Street: Rain has earned his spot in the CF world.

•February 16, 2011 • 12 Comments

We don’t publicize what Rain makes on the media blog most of the time, because it’s very easy for people to only see the dollar signs and to forget just how much money he also has going OUT of his pockets.

There are many people (employees, family, stockholders, etc.) who depend on him, and he lives up to the responsibility of providing for them very well. It’s really easy to see the penthouse and all the zeros in Korean won, and to forget how very hard this man physically and mentally works for his money every day.

» You may recall this article from last year, where he amassed at least 21 commercial spots in 2010 alone.

However, there is also a certain amount of pride that comes with the knowledge that JiHoon has indeed worked his way so high up the ladder by sheer strength of will. He deserves to be the 3rd highest paid star for a commercial spot in S.Korea. Period. We’re really excited to see what he’s going to do for Mentholatum China. (And I’m really stoked about Seo Taeji! Awesome.)

And so, we bring you this. 🙂

[Cloud USA announcements] Bi Yourself Open Thread for 2/15-2/21.

•February 15, 2011 • 28 Comments

» You can visit the previous Open Thread HERE. And of course, don’t forget that our Cloud USA Forum is a most excellent place for Rain love, fan communication, and self-expression.

By the way — have you left a message for JiHoon on The Cloud today?

(Remember, our Project page for newbies on how to access the Official Cloud Rain Fan Club in S.Korea is HERE.)

°

For those fans who have been waiting for news concerning the 8th Korean Cloud membership drive: The recruitment is scheduled to begin next week on the 21st and last for one month, until March 20. » The latest update on that can be found in our recent post HERE. As you can see in our post and in the latest notice from the 7th Cloud posted on other Rain sites, the hard details have yet to be released (details such as the exact fee amounts, exactly how to pay, exactly what individual information may or may not be required, etc.) but should be very shortly.

What everyone should know is this: 1) Becoming an official member of Rain’s official fan club is not a requirement for being a part of the Cloud USA community. That is a personal choice that each of you can freely make for yourselves based on comfort levels and finances, and you will not be judged for it. 2) The Cloud knows that their culture and ours are very different. We’ve shared a lot of info concerning those differences with them, and are continuing to do so. It’s a learning process for both sides. The PAYPAL setup is an encouraging sign. 3) Terri and I will be joining the 8th Cloud. It would be pretty ridiculous of us to provide you with Korean Cloud Fan Club information now if we weren’t comfortable enough to put our own money where our mouths are when it comes to supporting Rain. We’ve wanted to help our sisters in the U.S., who have already been official Clouds for a good while, bridge the gap between Rain’s Asian, North American, and European fans for a long time. Korea is extending a hand to the Americas and to Europe. Barring unforeseen circumstances or Acts of God, we’re going to take it and at least see what this year brings.

In other news… I’m going through severe RAINY DAY episode withdrawal.  Aigoooooooo. 😦

Have a terrific week, everyone.

Dear all,

A quick summary of the Cloud notice today:

8th Cloud registration will start next week, from 21 February until 20 March. It is possible they may extend the period if fans still encounter problems in accessing the website.

Membership fee will be the same as last year. Discounts will be offered to teenagers. For Europe and USA fans,

PAYPAL system has set up to facilitate easier payments! Discounts will be offered to teenagers.

For Asian countries excluding Japan, RAIN forum masters could organize collective registration for their members or individual members could join via the Cloud home page.

They are also seeking feedback on 8th cloud souvenirs. This has been discussed before. Others may have different opinions..

Bank account and other details will be announced soon.

Let’s join the Cloud family and give RAIN our biggest support!

Oh, and a happy Valentine^^

[article] MBLAQ’s Lee Joon’s sudden illness attributed to cochlear dysfunction.

•February 14, 2011 • 8 Comments

— ^@@^

HelloKPop 2/14/2011 — TerriKR, Writer

Earlier today, hellokpop.com reported that MBLAQ’s Lee Joon had been hospitalized after becoming ill during preparations for his appearance on February 13th’s episode of SBS’s Inkigayo. BNT News has now reported that his illness was due to some type of cochlear dysfunction. The exact type of cochlear dysfunction he is experiencing has not yet been revealed.

A representative from J.Tune Camp said, “Lee Joon is currently receiving treatment in the hospital after suddenly vomiting. He has a cochlea disorder, but the results have shown that his condition is not severe. Thank you to those who are concerned.”

The cochlea is the auditory portion of the inner ear. Disorders of the cochlea can lead to vertigo, which can bring on sudden episodes of vomiting, like the one Joon experienced backstage at SBS.

Everyone here at hellokpop.com hopes Joon is resting well and sends him their best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Here’s To More Korean Talent Starring in Hollywood Movies!

Did anyone get a chance to watch the film, “The Warrior’s Way”? It was pretty recently released (back in December) and starred Korea’s version of Brad Pitt, Jang Dong-gun. Regrettably I missed this film. I was sorely disappointed that I didn’t see it, not because I was excited about the latest tale of ninjas and warriors and ninja-like warriors. No, it was because of the fact that this was one of the very few recent opportunities that I would have had the chance to see a Korean actor opposite a Non-Korean actress in a “love interest” type of role on the big screen.

I’ll probably rent “The Warrior’s Way” when it comes out on DVD or becomes available online, to support the film and see what happens to the characters. But until then, my mind starts swimming with different thoughts. Will this be the start of a larger chain reaction of Korean men playing opposite non-Korean woman in films and TV? Beyond this, could we be seeing more Korean actors start making crossover attempts as well? Not that Korean actors haven’t already (Rain in “Ninja Assassin” and Lee Byeong-Heon in “G.I. Joe” come to mind), but maybe it’ll start happening a lot more often. Even just once a year would be a nice pace. And, as I type, Taiwanese actor/singer Jay Chou is embodying his inner Bruce Lee, as the supporting lead in the Hollywood film, “The Green Hornet”, released in January. Let it continue!

It’s important that these types of relationships continue to grow with more Korean (or other Asian-born) actors/actresses being put in starring roles in Hollywood films. Not only does it give younger Asian Americans a chance to see someone relatable on the big screen. It helps educate a broader audience on different types of people, characters and roles. It also puts more attention on that actor’s country of origin, which in turn opens more doors for other actors/actresses to make a breakthrough.

With all of the current attention on Korean Pop (K-POP), there’s definitely no better time then now for someone to make that crossover. All of the irrefutable power that the supporting K-POP community has (the influence and buying power is insane!) creates the perfect storm of buzz, blogging and financials that make for this opportunity. These K-POP fans are wildly supportive, loyal and have become tastemakers online. As mentioned in a previous post, they’ve already made other K-POP celebrities winners of some very surprising awards (Jay Park winning a Mashable award and Rain winning Biggest Badass at the latest MTV Movie Awards). If this is happening, it means that there definitely is an audience, an interactive and supportive audience, for these crossovers. The crowd has spoken – let’s see what Hollywood does next.

[article] More cast members join Rain’s Red Scarf.

•February 13, 2011 • 3 Comments

— ^@@^

Dramabeans 2/12/2011 — javabeans, Writer

Rain’s new movie Red Scarf, co-starring Shin Se-kyung as his love interest, is beefing up its cast with several new additions: Lee Hana (Triple), Kim Sung-soo (My Precious You), musical and film actor Yoo Joon-sang (Moss), and Secret Garden’s Tae-sun, Lee Jong-seok.

The plot: A volatile North-South situation sets the stage for the blockbuster action-melodrama, in which Rain plays a fighter pilot who takes part in a dangerous mission that includes the bombardment of Pyongyang. Shin Se-kyung is the main lead and his romantic partner, while Lee Jong-seok is confirmed as a pilot and one of Rain’s juniors. Since the film is described as depicting the lives and loves of the fighter pilots who engage in the mission, I’m presuming that the other men are likely to be airmen colleagues, though don’t quote me on that.

Red Scarf is a remake of the 1964 film of the same name (although this movie’s title uses Korean, whereas the old movie’s title was a transliteration of the English). Directing is Kim Dong-won, the director of 2008′s action-crime comedy City of Damnation and a producer on the recent Housemaid remake. The film will employ a cinematography team specializing in aviation shoots, who worked on previous films Sky Fighter and Stealth.

Truth be told, I’m a bit meh on the ladies — they’re all right, but not (imo) all that charismatic — but as for the others… Hot men in uniform? Yes, please!

Red Scarf begins shooting at the end of February.

And… I find this extremely cute.  Just CUTE! In fact, I haven’t seen anything so cute since B2ST’s YoSeob joined IU on stage for “Marshmallow”, with a barrette in his doggone hair.
