You HAD to know “Move On” was coming. (If my number 1 song wasn’t my number 1, “Move On” would be, hands down.)
I have loved this song and everything about it for a long, l-o-n-g time, y’all. Everything from the music video with its one continuous shot never breaking away from Rain to the clothing he wears in it…

Then word came down that Rain was the brand new face & body for MENtholatum Skincare for Men, in China. And he still is, to this day. In my #3 spot: “Free Way” the STY Gin n’ Tonic Remix version, which is Track 12 on his Japanese album Eternal Rain (2006).
Don’t get me wrong. I love the original version of “Free Way” (Rain’s second Japanese single release and Track 1 on his Eternal Rain album) too. It’s smooth, as adorable as he is, and a real pick-me-up when time is crawling by. But there’s just something about the off-sync, juiced up, jamming and grooving, pedal-to-the-metal sound of the remix that always puts me in a good mood. Always. It can literally change my day.
That’s power.
Okay, I’ll sum it up like this. Both versions occupy this spot, with the remix squeezing by the original by a hair (or two).

3/10: These hilarious and creative PD Note images are the result of SBS adapting the movie poster of award-winning romantic comedy 김씨 표류기 (Castaway on the Moon, 2009) for the Come Back, Mister subplot where the real Lee JaeHoon is stuck on a desert island. Clever, and cute!^^

In my #4 spot: “Slowly”, the “B” side of his first Japanese single release “Sad Tango” (2006).
As far as I know, this song is not on any album or repackaged album. It’s not even on his Japanese album Eternal Rain, nope. The only place you will find it (and the instrumental version of it) is on that “Sad Tango” single release CD in Japan.
Many fans will say that this is THE sexiest song of all the sexy songs Rain has made, and I tend to agree because of one simple fact — the lyrics leave no room for thoughts of double entendre. The words are not strategically chosen so that maybe, oh, he could be slow-dancing in the club with his woman, yeah that’s it. NOPE. It is clear as crystal that he and his woman are right in the middle of doing it and he is in control of how fast or slow they go and barely holding off. Point. Blank. Period. And…
Tickets for Rain’s concert in Malaysia now on sale
KUALA LUMPUR, March 15 — Various media outlets previously reported that South Korean superstar Rain will include Malaysia in his second world tour.
And now the date for his Rain the Squall Tour 2016 in Malaysia, which is set to take place at the Arena of Stars, Genting Highlands, was revealed today as May 21!
The last time we saw Jung Ji Hoon aka Rain was back in 2011 during the F1 Grand Prix concert, but before that he held his Rain’s Coming concert tour in 2007.

In my #5 spot: “Baby Baby”, Track 5 on his Japanese album Eternal Rain (2006). Now, if this isn’t the catchiest, cutest Japanese/English song ever, I don’t know what is! You will almost never hear me call bad English cute. Never, never ever. Except in this song, for some reason. What that reason is, I don’t know! It just hits me in the right spot, I guess, LOL~
Most of the time, I happen to be listening to this song when it’s perfect driving weather and I’m on my way somewhere under an azure blue sky with fluffy clouds. Even when the weather’s not good, this song perks me right up.

This was early 2008, and Rain was fulfilling a hell of a lot of projects — performing at the Lotte Family Concert in Busan (plus TV interviews), the Samsung Anycall phone campaign (Any Dream), KB Bank Card CFs with Lee HyoRi, a MiiOW Sport fashion campaign, performing and receiving an award at the CI CI Korea Awards, to name just a few — and, bless her heart, Cloud lunaluna used footage from all of these projects in her awesome fan made video below. ↓

Oh, yeah, haha.^^ In my #6 spot: “Oh Yeah”, one of two duets Rain did with awesome Japanese/Italian-American R&B talent A.I. (I’m telling you, one of my fantasy duets of all time would be A.I. and Chaka Khan singing any song.) 🙂
You can find “Oh Yeah” in 3 places — 1) on Rain’s Japanese album Eternal Rain (September 2006), and 2) on his Vol. 4 Korean album Rain’s World (October 2006), and 3) on Disc 1 of his Rain’s World Repackaged album (December 2006). And this was THE song, dear friends, where I first discovered how hooked I was on Rain in Japanese. I mean, c’mon, when you hit PLAY, listen to the very first line he sings, and then start the song over at least 20 times just to hear the very first line he sings again, that’s sort of a clue, ain’t it? LOL~
(Romanji: “Jibun ni nai… nanika ga aru yuruginai… kanjouya fukai ai… onna ga omou kimochi wa itsumo…”)
Then I finally listened to the rest of the duet, and that was all she wrote. *sigh* 🙂
Rain and A.I.’s second duet, which ended up on her album What’s Going On A.I.? (2006) was in neither Japanese nor Korean, but in English. Believe that? It’s one l-o-n-g sexy double entendre called “Too Much” that supposedly takes place on the dance floor of a club, but we know where it really takes place. Just sayin, lol~
South Korean censors would have crapped all over themselves if it had come their way (can’t even say “under my skin” over there), but Japan didn’t bat an eyelash and I wouldn’t have either. A.I. and Rain even performed it live during her album promotions, which was cool.
During a Japanese entertainment news report, A.I. talked about them both cracking up on stage when he overshot his mark and she accidentally knocked his mic into the side of his face when he was trying to be sexy. LOL!

In my #7 spot: “Up In The Club”, the B-side of Rain’s 3rd Japanese single release (“Move On”, Sept 2006).
Even though this song isn’t on an album, it’s a real favorite because it takes a hard, gritty, stomping in a dirty night club vibe and what sounds like a Latin guitar and marries them with rapid-fire Japanese from Rain’s soft, funky tenor. These 4 things seem highly unlikely to ever be put together in the same song, at least in my mind, because they’re so different from each other. Yet, here they are, with expected results — a choppy thing that lacks refinement, and unexpected results — a thumping thing that finds your heartbeat, makes your head start bobbing, and makes your body move to it with your eyes closed. (Yeah, just as if you had busted up into the club for real.)
And then in the 2nd and 3rd verses… Rain gets downright swagalicious with those. “Do you feel me, that I want you?” (min 2:04) Yes, I most certainly do, sir. Heheh~

In my #8 spot: “Props In My Life” on his Japanese album Eternal Rain (2006).
Not only does Rain do the most beautiful things with his voice in this song (just listen to his control over the notes, and that sweet, soft falsetto), the things he’s saying in the song reminds each one of us that he’s been through a lot of hell just like us and these are the things we must remember when the going gets tough.
I cannot tell you how many times I’ve stopped and listened to “Props In My Life” during the moments I thought I just wouldn’t make it another day, and it helped pull me through because I knew it wasn’t just lip service. He’s talking from experience, from the heart. This song will never be far from my CD player, not in this life.
As far as I know, just like with “Without You”, Rain hasn’t performed this song in public. It was strictly for the album and only in Japanese. It delights me to no end that lunaluna added English and Korean subs in addition to Japanese to her fan made. Love her! ❤

This song is so CUTE, and the music accompaniment makes cherry blossoms dance through my head, I love it. I’m so glad that lunaluna posted her fan made of the audio. Hers is the only video I’ve ever found. Her idea of using a chalkboard template for the lyrics is just as adorable as the song, isn’t it?^^

In my #10 spot: “Sad Tango”, Rain’s first Japanese single release (January 2006).
The MV for the song was a favorite as well in my early Cloud days, and was the first Rain video that I showed Terri in her pre-Cloud days. His energy and choreography and bravado in that music video amazed me. Again — I’d never seen anything remotely like him and I wondered where the hell he’d been all my life, lol~ Not to mention his face, which completely sold the plot in the parts of the MV when he had to act. What a talent. Geez, Rain. *sigh* Anyhoos, I’m sure y’all understand exactly what I’m talking about.
I could swear I’ve heard a Korean version of “Sad Tango” too, but for some reason I can only find the Japanese and English ones. *shrug*

In my #11 spot: The theme song for Lotte Duty Free’s 2009 ad campaign in Korea and Japan, “So I’m Loving You.” Yes, it’s a jingle, but that doesn’t seem to make a difference to my endorphins, Lol~
I love listening to Rain’s adorable version (other popular male celebs like Big Bang, JYJ, Song Seung Heon, Ji Sung, the late Park Yong Ha, and more were also part of the campaign). Did you know that there was a Japanese version as well as a Korean version? Now you do.^^

In my #15spot is a well known Rain song, just not in this language, perhaps — the Japanese version of “Rainism” on Disc 2 of his 3-disc Rainism Recollection album (Feb 2009, Korea). And in my #14 spot is the Japanese version of “Love Story” from the same album. Rain did quadruple duty with these 2 songs and released them not only in Korean, but in English, Japanese, and Chinese as well. Man, that’s a lot of work! Typical Rain, though. Go big or go home!
The English, Korean, and Chinese versions of “Rainism” and “Love Story” can be found on YouTube and other video sites, but the Japanese versions have been scrubbed off of them and scrubbed hard. It’s damn near impossible to find anything but copyright deletions, which pains me because I can’t give you a listen. Maybe one day. Let’s move on! 🙂

My #12spot belongs to: “I Do”, Rain’s 4th single release in Japan (Sept 2006), a true favorite far and wide when it comes to Rain’s Clouds and his concerts over the years. Rain usually sings the Korean version when performing and I adore it as well (it’s my ringtone!) But something about that Japanese just puts some extra pep in my step. ^_^

The festival broadcast looked to be at least 3 hours long, whew! SMG Shanghai TV’s official YouTube channel made it very easy to watch Rain because he starts off the 3rd video in the set (PSY started off the 2nd video with “Dance Jockey”). They got a lot of Chinese-speaking Clouds in TV shots as well.
