Maybe he was flashing back to the Semperoper in Dresden when he gave “Instead of Saying Goodbye” a turn in his opera voice (22-hour flights have been known to scramble your noodle, haha)… Hilarious, Hoonie. 😀 OMG, he did not just leave the stage…! Well, aiite then!

Texas Rain fan Niru met other fans at BEST Singapore from all over—Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, Singapore, and Korea—but no one else from the U.S.A…. Did anyone from here get to go?

Thanks, Niru, for sharing your fan cam with Cloud USA. (We adore Gong Yoo too, BTW! And Jang Hyuk!) Enjoy it, fans! 🙂

The Evening of the Concert

After he had left the ice-cream restaurant we also went to our room to rest a bit and get ready for the night.

We knew we will go and see him in an Opera house in a very very old and historical one, so everyone dressed up. And not just my friends and me, also as we noticed later, everyone … no matter how young the rain fans were, all were very elegant.

We left the hotel, to be in front of the Semper Opera at around 8pm, when we reached there we already could see a lot of ppl and mostly rain fans! I was overwhelmed to see so many german fans, western fans, so happy for this. Also the cloud did organize a donation thing, and I heard from the dresdner music festival fb page, the got 5000€. This is a lot!

There I also met a german friend of mine, she is a childhood friend of mine, and it was her first time to see Rain in flesh and blood, she was totally excited. When I was falling for Rain, I infected her too, but till now she never had the chance to see him.

Actually there were so many “first – time- see- him “ fans, you could feel the excitement in the air!

Then we entered the Opera house and I bought a program folder, a pity just in german but even though also the oversea fans bought, like I bought Korean newspaper in NY 😉

My ticket was in the 2nd row, and the 1st and 2nd row were a bit cheaper as the following one, so my friend and I who was next to me were wondering why? We were a little bit worried, maybe the stage too high we cannot see all??? Or what? Some one said cause of the acoustic thing, if just this we don’t care hahaha, as long we can see him ^^

We took our seats, and noticed wonderful, all fine and close! And then we could look around – the Semper Opera – wonderful place and what an honour for Rain to have this spot to sing and perform the very first time in Europe, when you start from here where will you go them?? ^^

Nearly all seats where taken, some where empty, but we knew all very sold. We just guessed, when we looked at the middle of the 1st row, that these seats where not in the official sale, but still the ppl who were seated there, looked very interested. I would have said about 60% Rain fans – the rest Vogler fans. But still everybody of the mixed audience looked interested at the other part! Behind me some young german Rain fans where seated. I could listen to their talking… like omg my heart will stop when he comes out, omg omg I will see him soon, I go crazy, I cannot breath, should we get up when he comes? And so on … they were sooo excited.

Everybody prepared the cameras, normally its not allowed to take pics but even the official ppl said, for this eve its allowed – thank god!

And then the light went down. There was video screen, Jan Vogler appeared and welcomed us in german first but then told us he will switch to engl now for our international audience. He explained what we have to expect now.

He will open the performance with his cello and “Bach-Suiten” 5th elements. He told us we should hold the applause till the end of this. Then Rain will come with his part, then they both will meet in the middle together and then he will do again alone and then Rain will end the eve.

Then Vogler appeared, started to play and even though the young Rain fans were totally excited they paid Vogler and his performance respect and listen to it quietly. For me it was nice I could clam down and had time to think of the coming.

And then Volger ended, ppl clapped, he left the Stage ………..

Light changed the video screen started to show parts of Rain clips and the fans started to scream and to yell – me too 😉 ….. and then he came!

And I was nearly crying, – I never expected this, but I was overwhelmed from the situation, so many things came together for me, my last time I saw him singing on stage 2009 in HK, and much more the main point – finally him in Europe singing and not just this – the first time in Europe and this in Germany!!!! I was hoping for this and waiting for this soooo long and now it happens. My eyes were teary, I could not even see him properly ^^. But then… I could and omg he was so close, thank god to the small venue, thank god to the close seat, and even my friends some of them had 7th row said omg such a great view – so close!

He was so close that even my poor camera could take great pics! This time again I could see he enjoyed the performance, he enjoyed ever of our screams and cheers, he immediately had spotted where the rain fan groups where seated and often looked at us or flirted with us. He seemed to be so happy that he so many ppl came for him.

He was sweating so much, and I could see every drop fall, so close 😉

Then Vogler came out to join him, they started to talk, in English, and what I liked the most at this point the Rain fans started to yell for Vogler too. I think this was the moment, they wanted to thank him that he brought Rain to german stage.

And yes I totally thankful to him. They showed a short clip how the met and how the worked out this eve.

The talk Rain and Vogler had, sure it was prepared, we know Rain is still struggling with engl, but he did a good job. When he was listing all the last concert stops of his Asia tour and the still missing one, I shouted – come to Europe! He looked in my direction and smiled.

Sorry girls not 100% sure if it was now … or later … but still. Vogler and Rain got a huge bunch of flowers … Volger throw it in the audience in the middle I think about 3rd row, but Rain moved to the right … our direction and ………… gave the flowers to the girl in front of me in the first row. *sigh what a pity I was not seated there 😉

And then they started together. I really liked this part, even though I would have wished they would have give the cello more volume ^^. But still the gap between east and west, classic and pop, young and old was closed. And all of the audience – really all started to move with the beat. They caught all! Great!

Then Rain left and Vogler did again a part alone, time to calm down, but after he got the same strong applause like Rain did before, the Rain fans thanking him.

Then Rain came again … cheering yelling … and it should have been the end but then again Rain and Vogler came out and did a song together again. After they left and then the whole audience young and old Rain fan, Vogler fan run wild and tried to call them out again for 10min … but no *sigh it was done.

But still from all I heard around me german, engl, I also guess Japanese, Chinese  and Korean did say the same – it was great!!!! The whole thing.

Yes it was again just a Rain appetizer – makes us hungry for more.

I think it was a good thing, it was so success full, now Rain learned if he want he can come to Europe and can fill a venue for a real only Rain concert.

I know from other fan accounts he did gave some autograph and handshakes at the backstage door… but then he left for the hotel.

We went back to the hotel too, and when we arrived there were already german fans waiting in front. He was back in the hotel already and soon dancers came out…. And just a while later he appeared … hat, blue jeans shirt, head down leaving by food for dinner. My friends and I did not follow we had our time with him already. The young German fans did.

We went for dinner too, did choose the same restaurant Rain was the night before.

Then after 2 of my friends decided to look for him if they can find him … me and another friend of mine decided we got the full package already its okay we go back to the hotel.

When we arrived there, there was german fan sitting in the lobby (super tiny lobby – just one table, 4 chairs, and the glass lift) so we joined her for a chat. We talked about the concert and Rain .. and Rain …and I think Rain 😉 Actually it was coincidence that we met her and chatted, and it was a long while maybe 30-40min, cause if not … we would have already been to the room when my friends came back and told us – they are coming, Rain and his dancers … and we … there in the lobby – pole position!

So we just lean back … and he came, walking in head down pretending do look at something at the camera, not looking at us. Heading to the lift smiling. He went into the lift, and lean against the glass wall next to where I was sitting about 3m away from me. Still head down but he was smiling again … not sure about what … maybe pics on the camera? Then the moment the lift started he looked up smiling started waving – smiling and waving at all of us – we waved back – and he was out of sight!

^______________________________^

Could there be a better ending for me before he join the military?

My last glimpse on him – smiling face at us!

These were Rain in Dresden, the best time with him I ever had!

Thanks for reading my very long fan account, feel free to share, but pls keep the credits, thanks

[article] Looking for his sunshine.

What a cute headline! Well, this Today Online article is going to create comments galore. Heheh.

Please note, Rain has been “wanting to get married fast” since 2008. *checking the calendar* 😉 All he’s really saying here, honestly, is that when he was younger, if he’d come upon The One, he would have been inclined to take his time before heading to the wedding hall; however in this phase of his life, when he does meet The One, he’ll be a lot quicker about it and whisk her off to the chapel by bullet train. 🙂

Now, notice how here, in this article, he’s supposedly thanking the Singapore fans for his stint in TIME. Which pretty much means that either Rain smartly compliments the portion of his fan base where he’s located at the moment, OR the Singapore media chose to translate his words in that manner. (The old Lost in Translation syndrome.) Either way, it’s marketing, Rain knows that ALL of his fans’ cumulative efforts are making the difference for him, and so for me this is no big deal. Again—he’s talking up Asia, and he should. It’s his primary entertainment home, and he’s about to leave it, a daunting process for them and for him. Aww.

Oh, look. He’s talking about his enlistment, to the Media. Like he usually does when he has the time, AP. And he’s directly quoted (you taking notes?).

Just because it says here that currently his new album will be focused at the Asian market doesn’t mean it doesn’t have some English on it. And some of those songs could very well be used to finally wedge his way in over here… maybe. Rain has consumer data and numbers inside the entertainment world that we just don’t have out here; as much as we want an English album from him, until such a release would not fall flat and go belly up, he does not need to risk it. It only takes ONE flop to kill you, and there are people who are just waiting for him to fail. We know this, right? So. I trust him to know when to go English. (That’s not to say I won’t be crying silently in some corner somewhere, waiting. Huhuhu!)

Oh well, that’s my take. Everyone have at!

Looking for his sunshine: Korean superstar Rain wants to be tied down – pronto

RAIN – that’s the Korean pop star, not the early arrival of the monsoon season – brought his The Best 2011 Rain Asia Tour to Singapore on Saturday, and gave one lucky lady something to smile about.

The K-Pop superstar, whose real name is Jung Ji-Hoon, showed up right on time at Saturday’s press conference at Marina Bay Sands, despite having flown into at Changi Airport’s private JetQuay CIP Terminal from Dresden, Germany, only earlier that morning. He had been performing at the Dresden Music Festival at the invitation of renowned German cellist, Jan Volger.

“Hi, guys. Good to see you,” said Rain in slightly jagged English when he walked into the ballroom wearing a crisp, white V-neck T-shirt, paired with a grey blazer, grey pants and grey patent loafers. Then, with the help of an interpreter, he said how glad he was to be back in Singapore for the second time.

“I missed Singapore (chilli) crabs and my fans very much,” said the relaxed 28-year-old singer-actor-model at the 19-minute press conference.

Eclipsing the scale of his first concert here in 2007, Rain brought along 200 costume pieces and an entourage of more than 100 people for his S$1.5-million gig at the Indoor Stadium.

In a span of nine years, Rain has gone from backup dancer to a K-pop heavyweight, and has twice been named by Time magazine as one of its most influential people.

“To be listed as Time’s most influential people is all due to the fans, especially fans from Singapore, who voted for me,” he said. “This has enabled me to meet a lot of people such as Sting and Bruno Mars, and have helped me to work harder.”

Rain has been hailed as the leading light of the K-pop wave in Asia with five Korean albums, a Japanese studio LP and a successful film and television career.

But he isn’t about to rest on his laurels anytime soon, with both a new album and movie in the pipeline – despite his fast-approaching enlistment into the army this year.

“Currently, the album is focused at the Asian market and the blockbuster movie contains an Asian aircraft, comedy and romance,” said the entertainer, who recently made his foray into Hollywood with Speed Racer and Ninja Assassin. “I hope all of you will love it.”

“(A lot has happened) over the past 10 years and this enlistment will give me the opportunity to think,” he said, pensively. “It also means a lot to me to serve the nation.”

Also having plenty to think – or endlessly replay in her mind, more accurately – is the lucky fan Rain picked out from the crowd and brought on stage for the singer to serenade his song My Lady to.

The ecstatic lady might be interested to know her idol is currently single and available – and in a hurry to change that.

“I want to marry fast. I still have not found a partner who can fulfill my wish but I want to get married fast,” he said. “I believe in fate and if I’m bound to someone, fate will resolve that.”

RAINY DAY Season 3, episode 8. Breaking it down hard like nobody’s business.

•May 22, 2011 • 7 Comments

Cloud cover by: Stephe, Managing Editor ^@@^

Asia broadcast 5/21. (If a translation comes available, I’ll post that here.)

I am still flying SO high from Rain and Vogler showing out at the DMF, and from the utter excitement of meeting new classmates face to face while digging into my first Korean lesson in The A.T.L. today, that I can hardly concentrate on doing this episode. Let’s see if I can find some quick inspiration…

*hitting play, absorbing RAINY DAY intro filled with JiHoon*

Okay! Suddenly got my second wind. Let’s do this thing! 😀

*jaw drops* Oh heavens, we’re still right in the middle of the “Nan” (I) rehearsal… *zones the heck out*

Okay guys, water looks good, let’s get past all the crying and suffering real quick… (fast Nan whine)(fast Nan whine)(faster Nan whine) Okay let down the coat for Rainism yeah— LMAO! Well so much for suffering over some chick. Moving on. 😉

Ah, we’re getting a truly nice view of the control boards beyond the stage, where lights and sound and magic happens. And we get to see our Magic Feet fine-tuning the new laser-light show that he’s inserted at the very end of “Rainism.” Sounds like that took a lot out of him as we then launch into “Na” (Me/Myself). Aww… and Baby Hoon is all over the JumboTron. Be still my heart. ♥ (That’s a really good thing to see, too… in more ways than one. *smile*)

Heheh. With a gathering of coils beneath the spring-loaded elevator, Rain is soon living—and flying—like Superman as “Bad Guy” gets going. How in the world was he singing so smoothly through that “flight”, people? Wow. He continues marking steps and taking mental notes right on into “Instead of Saying Goodbye.”

You can tell which parts of the concert choreography Rain really digs right off, because he’ll be marking steps and moseying along and not looking particularly enthused, and all of a sudden BAM! Holy Moly, Batman! He’ll just start breaking it down hard like nobody’s business. Which is what happened with that new hot, steaming, wonderful 90s dance break that’s in the latter part of the song—Rain comes to life like gangbusters and starts slinging his joints out of whack, and the Crew, which is finely attuned to his every move, gets in the groove right along with him.

*full arm hip swing… full arm hip swing*
*roll and stomp it… roll and stomp it*
*Pop it Lock… Pop it Lock*
*sling it left… sling it right*
*roll, ROLL… roll, ROLL*
(pause and let the ladies get down)
*stir that coffee*
*bring it to the front*
*harlem shake harlem shake harlem shake harlem shake* BOOM

*moseys off in deep thought*

*gives The Goods a JumboTron check*

I don’t mind saying that whole interlude was my favorite part of the episode. Might as well tell the truth and shame the devil. 🙂

Erm, wait a minute… I said that before seeing what came next. Love. Story. Where Rain proceeds to, every now and then, sow his wild oats. @__@ Pardon me a moment while I grab a shot of Irish Creme. Be right back.

Okeedokee then, this puppy’s a wrap. Until next week, fans. Cheers!

He had some stiff competition, too. I mean, none of them were chopped liver!

And so, for the very Man who dared push the envelope back in the early 2000s and started all the shirt-ripping and abdominal rolling to begin with (that’s right, RAIN paved the way for idols that came after him to make fine use of their torsos) to place nice and high on this sexy KPop idol list is made of Awesome. [article] Dresden fascinated by Rain’s performance, the crowd kept on clamoring for an encore.

•May 20, 2011 • 4 Comments

— ^@@^

Yonhap News 5/20/2011 — [English translation by rain bird @rain-eu.]

Dresden fascinated by Rain’s performance, the crowd kept on clamoring for an encore

Singer Rain’s agent J.Tune Camp expressed on the 20th, saying as, “When Rain finished his performance at the Dresden Music Festival, Germany, the crowd kept on clamoring for an encore.”

Last 19th, Rain performed with German cellist ‘Jan Vogler’ at Semperope (opera house) under the title of ‘The Dresden Music Festival : Rain & Vogler – Asian pop meets European classic’

During the phone call with Yonhap news, an official from his agent said, “The audiences stamped their feet in their own chairs when Rain’s performance ended. Since they didn’t leave their seats even though an announcement saying that his performance was over, was being made 5 times, Rain came to perform two songs as encores.”

And, Vogler was quoted as saying, “It’s unusual that the hall has been bursting with people from the first floor to the third floor.”

According to J.Tune Camp, Rain showed off splendid performances including ‘It’s Raining’ song, etc, starting with Rainism on this day. Rain performed ‘The Way to Avoid the Sun’ and ‘Love Song’ to the accompaniment of cello Vogler played. Vogler took over the opening & the climax portions of the two songs.

Rain was surprised by his European fans’ enthusiastic reactions. I saw that, Rain. Right off the bat, you glanced over, saw the German Clouds, couldn’t stop yourself from grinning with delight and tried to play it off. You sneaky thing, you. ROFL!

GREAT job, ladies!

Well, I must say that Rain pulled NO punches when it came to the Europeans! He gave it to them the same way he gives it to us and to everyone else—long, hard, and repeatedly.

Jan Vogler was in absolute awe and happier than a clam. The cellist could NOT keep still during “Love Song” at all (you go, Jan!)… and when he not only started the song off with an interlude but came back into it during the bridge and chorus, I thought I was going to die of ecstasy. I am so darned happy this morning.

Oh, to have witnessed it all in person. I can only imagine!

These fan cams are in no particular order. Please enjoy. 😀

VERY cool, Rain. A “classic” tuxedo meets “Pop” sneakers. A nice interpretation of the festival theme, with your attire… clearly a marriage on stage of two separate worlds.

You clever man. I like! 🙂

This entry under News: Culture from a few days ago talked about not only Rain’s and Vogler’s upcoming part of the DMF, but all of the activities (artists, orchestras, musical numbers, etc.) that would be happening during this Festival season, which ends on June 5.

Only the beginning paragraphs were about the Classics Meets Pop concert. Thanks to huda @The Cloud Rain News Board for the Mein Dresden screen shot and the tip on this article.
