A photo that presents Rain and ‘Park Seul Gi’ together in a friendly way at Haeundae beach in Busan city
‘Park Seul Gi’, a broadcaster, expressed herself delighted when she met world star Rain (his real name, ‘Jung Ji Hoon’)
‘Park Seul Gi’ released a self photo that presents Rain and her together to the public via her Metoday blog at around 3:44 pm on August 12th, writing a post, “Rising Star (a section featured in a TV program) with Bi oppa (Rain)!” and “We’re trying to answer any questions about himself at Haeundae beach here (in Busan city). Aren’t you envious of me?”
In the picture, Rain is seen giving his charismatic charm to the fullest with black sunglasses, while ‘Park Seul Gi’ who is excited to meet him is holding up the V sign with a big grin on her face beside him.
Netizens responded to the post, “I know she’d enjoy the meeting.” “I can’t wait to go now.” “Wow! I envy her!”
“I think ‘Ji Hoon’ oppa (Rain) is so uptight.” “There’s so much I want to know about him.”
Meanwhile, Rain’ll release his own digital single ‘Busan Girl’ at midnight on August 16th.

So let me clear this up for those of you who have been on Netizen Duty and raking Rain over the coals for supposedly being a hypocrite (by scolding Joonie).
There is a huge difference in South Korea between concert appearances, cable television, and national TV.
If you check out Joon’s performance from that day—which was spectacular, he looked fabulous, the whole group did!—the button on his vest flying off was completely unintentional, bless him, and he did the best he could. That wasn’t what he got in trouble for. What really hung poor Joon, as far as I know, was when he took his top completely off and was standing there on national TV with nothing on from the waist up. You can do that in concerts and on cable, but not on national TV. So sayeth the government. (And what a shame, because the Boy looked like an Adonis come to earth. Glorious.)
You’ve seen Rain with his shirt completely off in a lot of places, but not when performing on national TV (MBC, SBS, KBS, etc.). When he was coming back with “Love Song”, his shirt being up around his shoulders for so many seconds at the end of the song was too much when it came to Korean regulations, so he and his Crew wore little vests for those shows. (Mnet is out of Japan, however, and they didn’t seem to mind).
Indecency charges (verbal or physical) will get an idol banned from TV appearances period, and of course Rain wouldn’t want that for the group or for Joon, especially when the poor guy simply made a mistake in judgment because of the audience’s enthusiastic response. It was Rain’s duty to steer Joon back onto the right path about watching where he takes his shirt off. Any responsible hyung who cared about his juniors would do that.
Rain is not a hypocrite calling the kettle BLAQ, so get your facts straight, please.

Lee Joon, “Rain wears a cover up on national TV”
MBLAQ Lee Joon revealed a secret about singer Rain.
Lee Joon made an appearance in the KBS 2TV “Happy Together 3” on the 11th, and said, “I was once told off by Rain because of exposure”.
“My button once flew off because of a rough dance move on a live music program. Thanks to the audiences’ hot response, I dared to exposure a little more”.
“After the performance, I thought I would be praised but was scolded by Rain”. He also mentioned, “In the broadcasting regulation, there is a rule that says it’s alright if you expose one but not two”. [once but not twice?^@@^]
He continued, “Rain also tries to resist to too much exposure. On cable, he just takes the whole top off but on national TV he wears a cover up”. Then a short video of Rain in a national TV music program was shown with the subtitle “Rain obeys the regulations”.
Meanwhile, on this day’s program were Miss A’s Min, 2AM’s Jo Kwon, Infinite’s Seong-jong, Park Hyeon-bin, MBLAQ’s Lee Joon and Kim Na-young.

HelloKPop 8/11/2011 — editorial by: Nabi
K-Pop around the world and the world in K-Pop!
Here’s the set up: you, an average American, sit down one day to watch The Colbert Report on Comedy Central. Stephen Colbert is doing his usual thing – giving you the news and doing it so that you can’t help but laugh your head off – when he starts his sign-off (skip to 1:55):
The Colbert Report: He’s Singin’ in Korean May 10, 2007
You think to yourself: OMG, did he really just reference Rain/Bi/Ji-hoon Jung?! Did he really just make his own K-Pop music video?! Notice how he used clips from Korean television shows? Notice how he actually sang in (terribly pronounced) Korean?
Yes. Yes he did.
Now, Stephen Colbert is known for his satires, parodies, and general comedy, but the man does his research – he doesn’t parody what he doesn’t understand. While you could argue that he doesn’t understand K-Pop perfectly, he at least understands it enough to have a little fun with it. In fact, he has 5 video clips where he talks about Rain.
And here’s the part you may not have expected: Rain answers Colbert. Colbert challenges Rain to a dance-off (yes, you read that right, he challenged Rain to a dance-off) but claims that Rain didn’t show up on his show in May of 2008 because he must have been ‘too intimidated.’ But Rain does show up, and the ‘dance-off’ does happen. Start the video at 0:30.
The Colbert Report: Rain Dance-Off May 05, 2008
That’s right! That’s Rain, playing Dance Dance Revolution with his ‘rival’ Stephen Colbert. What’s even better is that this wasn’t an America-only event – Korea knew about it, too.
Now, let me ask you this: is that K-Pop around the world, or the world showing up in K-Pop? It’s time to take a look at where K-Pop is around the globe, and the ‘globalness’ of K-Pop itself. If you read my piece ¿Hablas K-Pop? A Love Story Between Latin America and K-Pop, this piece is going to be a lot like that, but it will cover the world.
Okay, I can’t actually cover every single place where K-Pop has shown up, or every instance of a different culture seen within K-Pop, but what I’ll try to do is give examples from different regions of the world. I’m going to start a little closer to (my) home first.
North America (The United States and Canada)
Currently, the Wonder Girls are here in the US, promoting and singing at baseball games. Who’s responsible for guiding them? None other than the Black Eyed Peas‘ will.i.am. I know that other US recording stars have also worked with K-Pop groups, such as Kanye West‘s involvement in JYJ‘s Ayy Girl and Teddy Riley‘s work with Rania on Dr. Feelgood, but will.i.am’s involvement with the Wonder Girls is one of the best collaborations simply because he focuses on the idols, not on himself. Plus, will.i.am must know something about K-Pop, since he also praises 2NE1‘s musical talents and plans to work with them on their US debut.
Notice how he mentions that he doesn’t just want to make them popular in the United States alone, but in Brazil, Britain, Canada, Australia
Here’s yet another instance of an American music idol praising a K-Pop idol’s work: Flo Rida talking about G-Dragon. Flo Rida actually features in G-Dragon’s remix of Heartbreaker….

Rain to reveal new song next week
Asian superstar Rain will reveal a new song next week to commemorate his upcoming nationwide concert tour in Korea, according to his agency J.Tune Camp.
On Thursday, J.Tune announced in a press release that Rain will unveil his self-composed new song “Girl of Busan (translated title)” on August 16.
The press release also explained that Rain had revised the title and lyrics of the song in accordance to his Korea tour “The Best Show” which will kick off at the Busan Exhibition & Convention Center (BEXCO) of Busan on August 13 and 14.
He will then hit the road for his concert which will also take place in Daegu, Jeju Island, Gwangju, Daejeon and wrap up at Seoul’s Olympic Park Stadium on September 24 and 25.
“As of right now, we don’t have any plans for Rain to promote the song on any televised programs,” an official from J.Tune was quoted as saying, adding that he will only perform the song at his concerts.
Rain, whose real name is Jung Ji-hoon, has been considered one of biggest stars in Korea and throughout Asia since the start to his solo singing career in 2002.
He is currently shooting action pic “Take Off: Closer to the Sun” which is a remake of the 1964 Korean movie “Red Muffler.”

There is a discrepancy in some of the reports out there—some sources are saying “Busan Woman” will be included on Rain’s upcoming album, and some are saying it will not be included. So please, take anything about that with a grain of salt until Rain makes that clear himself.
What does seem clear is that the song will be a lot of fun, it will be part of an event tailored to fit each concert venue in the tour, it will be a digital release and not promoted through usual channels, and it will only be sung for the fans who come to the shows. Cool! 🙂

Rain to release a new self-composed song for his fans, “Busan Woman”
Rain will be releasing a special self-composed song on August 16th as a special treat for his fans!
Titled “Busan Woman“, the song was composed and written by Rain himself to be included in his next album. Since it’s his last concert tour before he enlists in the army, the song and nationwide tour has become all that more special to both the star and his fans.
The song’s title incorporates Busan, the city where he’ll be kicking off the tour on August 13th. He’ll be changing up the title and lyrics for each of his stops.
A representative of J. Tune Camp explained, “Rain will be completely focused on his nationwide tour, so he will not be promoting the song on music programs. He will be singing this song exclusively for fans.”

CNBLUE, Rain, 2PM, and the subsequent performances of Hallyu Wave artists sold out
[Rain excerpt]
The advance sale of tickets for Rain’s concert ‘2011 Rain The Best Show’, began last 26th. (The concert ranked top on the advance ticket selling list in the last week of July)
No tickets were available for seat VIP and zone R for the concert as soon as the advance sale of tickets began, and the concert is now almost sold-out and the countdown to the complete sellout has begun.
30 % of the total people who have booked tickets are foreigners as Rain has achieved worldwide fame as a singer and actor. After 10 years of his debut, Rain has kicked off his first nationwide concert tour where he plays in 6 different venues all over the country.

In this month’s Lotte Duty Free Global Lifestyle Magazine for August 2011, LDF did a nice mini-spread on the Lotte Rain Premium Concert 2011, the fan meet back on July 9 where Japanese fans flew to Seoul and got to see JiHoon for a final time before his enlistment.
And I’ll tell you what—the 2PM feature they did is pretty sweet, with pictures of the Fab 6 that are to die for. Wow. I would put them up but for the fact that Rain, along with his Rainiverse, might come down on me like a ton of bricks for disturbing the sanctity of his dominion here. LOL! (kidding)
Check them out for yourselves in the magazine’s online version, which is easy enough to do if you go to the Japanese site rather than the wonky Korean site. Rain’s concert/fan meet write-up (in Korean and Japanese, sorry) and images are on pages 76 and 77.

Word is Rain will be participating in the opening ceremony of The Disabled Peoples’ Culture & Art Festival 2011, coming up on September 29 at 6 pm, in Seoul City Hall. Other Kpoppers and global stars are being listed on the marquee as well. As far as I can tell, the sponsors of this important event are Hyundai and The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
*An interesting note: That fifth line from the top of the event poster below directly translates to “Jose Feliciano and (와, wah, and, with) Jung JiHoon Rain meet (의 만남, ui mannam, meets, meeting of)”. Hmm. I’m not sure what that refers to, if it refers to anything at all… but it’s intriguing to think about.
Hopefully there will be confirmation and more information coming from Rain’s Camp soon.

I think it had everything to do with remaining an honorable man in terms of responsibility, thus a good example for a son. What he doesn’t want to do (in 10 years) is anything that would make him less honorable as a responsible Korean male in the eyes of his family, friends, and fans. ^@@^]

Incheon Isles Lure Soap Fans with Film Sets, Beaches
Locally produced TV dramas have given Korea’s tourism industry a boost for many years, with the three islets off Incheon’s Yeongjong Island coming into sharper focus in recent years thanks to fans of Korean dramas such as “Full House,” which features Rain and was partly shot on location there.
“I started to like Korea after watching ‘Full House’ when it was televised in Japan,” said Japanese student Mayu Ohohyama, referring to the romantic drama that aired on KBS in 2004. “It seems like I’m dreaming now, as I can see the set of the drama in real life.”
Mayu decided to visit Sido after being attracted to the country by the popularity of Korean dramas in Japan. When she found that singing K-pop songs at karaoke bars no longer quenched her thirst for Korea’s pop culture, she signed up as an exchange student at Kyungwon University in Korea. Of course, this also afforded her many opportunities to travel the country and visit its wealth of beaches, festivals, historic sites and film sets.
Mayu and her Japanese friend chose Sido for their latest excursion after falling for the main character played by singer and actor Rain in “Full House.” They took a ferry at Sammok wharf on Yeongjong, then hopped along the islets of Sindo, Sido and Modo, which are connected by a bridge but look like a single land mass when observed from afar.
Sido, once known for its traditional goby fishing, has since become a tourist hot spot after pictures of its beautiful beach and soft sand flashed around Asia via the TV drama.
A ten-minute drive by car from Sindo wharf took the two excited Japanese visitors to a wide beach on which stands a white two-story house. It was their first time here, but they had seen the house many times before…

… because I am still FLOORED by his Men’s Uno China August 2011 magazine spread. I mean, what planet does this Man come from? How is this kind of beauty possible, even with stylists and other such accoutrements? (You can put makeup on a pig, and it’s still a pig, so you can’t credit it all to that. No matter how you slice it, this Man is naturally blessed.) *major heart palpitations* Enjoy. 🙂
(1100 x 900. This is a specially sized wallpaper that looks best “centered” rather than “stretched”, but by all means, display it however you like best!)

And we literally mean new ON our fan site. Haha.
As many of you know (those of you who have visited or do frequent our Cloud USA Fan Site home pages), our Cloud USA Blog Page, Cloud USA Forum Page, and Cloud USA Facebook Page are simply introductions and doorways with links directly to those places. Or, I should say, were simply doorways, when it comes to two of them. Because now, dear fans…
… when you click on Cloud USA Blog on the menu at the top of the site, you’re actually ON the media blog. And when you click on Cloud USA Forum, you’re actually ON the forum. You can interact with both places (leave comments, join up, read posts, “like” stuff, etc., everything you normally do). Go ahead, check it out. Is that not cool or what?
Don’t panic! The media blog is still at cloudusa.wordpress.com, and the forum is still at cloudusa.lefora.com, and you can reach them at those URLs if you so desire. It’s just that now those URLs are directly tied in to their respective home pages, thanks to the determination and mad skillz of co-founder Terri. My chingu is something else. And so smart! I could just kiss her. ♥
At present, the Cloud USA Facebook page is still a portal/link to our facebook (and a gorgeous portal at that, don’t you think?), but we plan to make it interactive as well, as soon as we can. When we do, of course y’all will be the first to know.
We hope you like the changes. If you do, make sure to give Terri a well deserved atta-girl!
Until next time, Rain fans… 😀

Clouds, Rain fans, and KPop fans alike—this episode of KBS World entertainment variety show K-Wave Station not only showcases some of your favorite K-celebs (SNSD, Won Bin, BEAST, and Rania) but also gives mention to Rain’s upcoming national concert tour in South Korea.
The reminder that Rain’s Best Busan, the start of the tour, is coming up on August 13 and 14 at BEXCO is during the “Celebrity Calendar” segment that starts at minute marker 27:35, near the end of the show.
For you KPop fans who’d like the watch the entire show, here it is. The segment on SNSD (with fans from all over the world, even Chicago, attending their recent concert) was very cool. I appreciated the story on those beautiful boys of BEAST, and I can’t believe that in the beginning of their career the group was actually looked down on. BEAST was one of the best groups out of the gate at debut and still is. They kicked @ss, and still do! What the heck were people thinking?
Enjoy! 🙂

I still remember how utterly amazed we were when we first heard that JiHoon had been forced to sue for his work on The Fugitive: Plan B (20 episodes and 1 special at 70 minutes a pop, filmed in exhausting location shoots all over Asia… how do you think you can get away with not paying somebody for a load of work like that? *still confused*)
How terribly unfortunate for both sides that it had to go this way, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do when your back is up against a wall.

Rain wins suit over unpaid drama fee
SEOUL, Aug. 8 (Yonhap) — A Seoul court has ordered a TV drama production company to give unpaid appearance fees to Korean singer and actor Rain, court officials said on Monday.
The Seoul Central District Court ruled in favor of JYP Entertainment, Rain’s management agency, in a lawsuit against the local drama production firm identified only by the initial “D,” the officials said.
The production company was ordered to pay 360 million won (US$336,542) that it owed Rain for his work with “Fugitive: Plan B”, which aired on a KBS channel last year, according to the court.
The agency filed the suit in April, alleging that the star had yet to receive part of his appearance fee as well as promised returns from the drama’s success.

We left off last week with rehearsals for BEST Macao at the Cotai Arena (in mid-May), and we didn’t know if we would return for more prep time OR get down to the nitty-gritty of the actual BEST concert. Well… the first thing we see as this episode opens is Rain busting out of his dressing room on the 14th like a cat semi-on-fire, dressed to the nines in concert get-up, blazing a trail down a backstage arena hallway to—where?
When it comes to finding out, we don’t have long to wait. It’s the Living Doll Mail Order Caper. Which ended up a little something like this. ROFL!
The Men are already waiting for the Man to get his butt in the room for the shot, as it appears that there isn’t much time for the caper to go down. Someone tells JiHoon to speed it up and everyone to get in place as he finally arrives [빨리 빨리 빨리 빨리! (ppalli ppalli ppalli ppalli!) Hurry hurry hurry hurry!]. The Man and Crew hop to with their incredibly handsome selves, and bingo! The Living Doll Mail Order Caper spread ’round the world is born. LOL!
Of course, everyone is all “General Hospital” and favoring their knees and joints and stuff after climbing down out of those semi-lockers (you would think they’d been up in those things for an ice age or so, the way they were, like, dying ㅎㅎㅎ hahaha wow). I mean listen to those heart-wrenching groans! Come on, man up, poor babies LOL! Of course, the picture puts JiHoon in stitches and delights all the guys. And it should have. Let’s face it, out of context, that was one really buzzworthy shot!
And then our superheroes and superheroines rush to the stage because the fans are ready and BEST Macao is ON.
Let’s just sit back together and watch JiHoon do what he does so well… command the stage and wring every bit of emotion possible from his audience, shall we? Be back in few…
Wow. What a charmer. But that’s nothing we didn’t already know. 🙂
And so after partial footage of “Harudo”, “I Love You Again,” “Only You”, “One” and other hits we dearly love, this week’s episode comes to an end. Next week we could continue at BEST Macao, or be in an entirely different spot. Only RAINY DAY knows for sure. Be here, and we’ll find out together.
Until then, Rain fans! 😀

[image] Rain in a Section TV “Rising Star” interview.
•August 12, 2011 • 4 Comments— Cloud cover by: Stephe, Managing Editor ^@@^
As we understand it, noted Asian source Nate News has posted an article concerning Rain being interviewed by MBC’s Section TV for its “Rising Star” program segment. It’s a fair guess that it happened after he got to Busan (though we are just guessing about that), and from the looks of the article itself, it talks about the reason he’s in Busan, his upcoming digital single, how the TV host was thrilled to meet him (V-sign!), and how Rain oozes charm that seems endless. 🙂
Sometime later today there should be an English translation of this news, and we’ll post that for you. In the meantime, enjoy this gorgeous image.
