[J.Tune Creative] JiWoo PIA, and RAINBOX. (It’s J-i-W-o-o!)

•October 1, 2010 • 1 Comment

Before we even get started:

WHAT is with this ongoing “Gee-Woo” business?

I understand that computer translators (such as Google, Bing, and the like in other countries) will convert the character’s name in this manner, because romanization is a tricky thing.  I get it.

But with the name now splashed all over everything, sometimes in 1000 POINT FONT, why are we still seeing it written incorrectly, even in The Fugitive: Plan B‘s own location graphics on the show?  Seriously, folks?

(Sorry, I’m a writer and misspellings drive me BATTY.  It’s Ji-Woo!)

*sigh* Now that that’s out of the way… ^@@^

Enjoy these quick images from inside private detective Ji-Woo’s technologically amazing business offices.  (If you haven’t seen the man’s fantastic toys yet, oh you wait. 😀 )  Hopefully there will be more to come from J.Tune Creative’s Facebook page…?  Or will J.Tune simply “leave the building” for another five months or so?

Just sayin’.

°

Also, from J.Tune Creative… limited edition <Plan B.> JiWoo PIA jewelry.

“Limited edition” usually means something is being made available for purchase… but their Facebook page has no information on how or where to buy these pieces.  So when we find out, we’ll be sure to announce it here.

(In related news… RAINBOX will be officially opened October 6th, so perhaps the jewelry will be available there.  We’ll just have to see.)

[UPDATE #2] More on Rain’s participation in the upcoming Asia Song Festival.

•October 1, 2010 • 4 Comments

[ *ETA 10/19: The previous brief notice of Rain not being at the festival after all has been retracted by The Cloud, and the official Asia Song Festival site still has him on the roster.  So it’s safe to say that Rain WILL be there.  ^@@^ ]

[ *ETA 10/15:  Word on the street (and from The Cloud) today is that Rain will not be at the Asia Song Festival after all.  As soon as there are details and/or some kind of confirmation of that to be had, we’ll bring that to you here.  In the meantime… stay tuned.

— Stephe ^@@^ ]

°

Our previous post on the festival, from September 17, is HERE. There is a teeny discrepancy on which announced line-up of artists was first and second, but that hardly matters.  The important thing is that Rain and his amazing colleagues will all be there.

10asia 10/1/2010 — RAIN, KARA AND AKB48 JOIN LINE-UP OF ASIA SONG FESTIVAL

The second line-up of performers have been announced for the upcoming 2010 Asia Song Festival (ASF), to be held in Korea later on this month.

According to a press release by PR agency Prain, Korean superstar Rain, four-member boy band 2AM, girl group Kara and international stars including Japanese group AKB48 and Taiwanese singer Film will take the stage at the Olympic Park in Seoul for the event on October 23.

The first line-up of artists, revealed in late-August, included Korean songstress BoA, Chinese singer Jane Zhang, Taiwanese singer and actor Joe Cheng and Malaysian singer-songwriter Michael Wong.

Top Hong Kong star Jackie Chan, the honorary chairman, and Lee Min-ho, the Goodwill Ambassador for Korea’s UNICEF, will be promoting the event which brings top artists from around the Asian countries to Korea each year.

Proceeds from the festival, hosted in collaboration with UNICEF to celebrate Korea’s hosting of the G20 summit in November, will be donated to children in Pakistan.

Backpacks are back in fashion.

•October 1, 2010 • 5 Comments

POPSEOUL! 10/1/2010 —

It looks like the backpack trend that hit school campuses by storm back in the 90s, has made its return for the fall season.

If you haven’t already noticed, male celebrities have been popping up left and right, from sitcoms to variety shows, sporting colorful backpacks. Of the many backpack designs and brands that are popping up, there are two brands in particular that the celebrities seem to favor.

The first brand is Incase, most recognized as the red back pack Nickhun totes around on the variety show, ‘We Got Married’.

Although the Incase brand is mainly recognized for its iPhone and iPad covers, the backpacks have been garnering just as much love due to the comfortable and useful designs, even in Hollywood. So many male idols including Nickhun, Jo Kwon, MC Mong and Jung Yong-hwa, have been seen wearing Incase backpacks, that on and offline sales have soared.

The second backpack is the MCM x Tisa Phenomenon Day Bag, which has received tons of exposure for quite a while, through various celebrities including Rain, MBLAQ and Big Bang. All the idols, seem to have this particular backpack in every color scheme available.

So guys, what do you think? Will this be a trend you’ll be following this fall season?

Rain’s “Fugitive” outruns competitors in a breeze.

•October 1, 2010 • 4 Comments

10asia 9/30/2010 —

The first episode of KBS TV series “Fugitive: Plan B” starring Korean superstar Rain has proven the hype surrounding the drama ahead of its premiere may not be hollow expectation.

Statistics released by research firms TNmS (Total National Multimedia Statistics) and AGB Nielsen Media Research on Thursday showed that the premiere episode of “Fugitive” yesterday posted viewership ratings of 21.7 percent and 20.7 percent, respectively, rare scores for even the most popular shows to record from the start of their run.

“Fugitive” also easily outscored its competitors in the same Wednesday and Thursday prime time time slot; SBS’ “My Girlfriend is Gumiho” lost steam last night ahead of its finale episode today with ratings of 18.6 percent on TnMS’ survey and 16.6 percent on AGB’s chart, and “Kiss” remained in the four percent-range on both polls.

In “Fugitive,” a romantic comedy investigative action series about a conspiracy involving a hefty sum of money going missing in times of the Korean War 60 years ago, Rain plays [JiWoo], a private detective at an international secret agency who is on the run after becoming pegged as the murderer of his own old friend.

The 20-part series was shot in various locations throughout Asia including China, Japan and the Philippines and features a multinational cast of Korean actors Lee Na-young, Daniel Henney, Lee Jung-jin, Kong Hyung-jin, Yoon Son-ha, Hong Kong-‘s Ti Lung, China’s Josei Ho, and Japanese actors Takenaka Naoto and Uehara Takako.

•September 30, 2010 • 3 Comments

As we understand it, Rain’s young dongsaengs, MBLAQ, are singing on the original soundtrack for The Fugitive: Plan B.  They actually say (rather breathlessly, in that way they learned from the master, so turn it up loud) at around second 0:06 of this preview clip… “It’s MBLAQ.”  Very cool…!

Thanks so much, sister Jax625 @fugitive625 (original info: Absolute_MBLAQ, sweetcandyraincloud), for the tip. 😀

Additional information says that the theme song MBLAQ sings is called “Running & Running,” and that 4Minute and Shin SeongHoon also contribute on the OST.

Domanja LIVE: We laughed, we cried…and we didn’t understand a THING.

•September 29, 2010 • 10 Comments

…But did that stop Cloud USA members from gathering on our fan forum (at http://cloudusa.lefora.com/) and attempting to watch the official premiere of Domanja together LIVE on KBS TV2 this morning, at 9:00 a.m. EST?

NO.  No it did not.

A night or so ago, Cloud USA heard through the grapevine that it might be possible to watch the premiere of Domanja LIVE on the Internet, through KBS Able.  For those of you who don’t already know, KBS Able is KBS’s site for the “disabled and the elderly” and provides live streaming of KBS TV1, KBS TV2 (where Domanja is being aired), and all of KBS’s radio stations.  (KBS Able can be found at http://able.kbs.co.kr/live/index.html and seems to be best viewed with Internet Explorer.  Note: Click TV2 to access video player and watch Domanja.)

Since we always take KBS news with a grain of salt, and since we knew that even if the show was going to be available that it wouldn’t have English subtitles, we were extremely hesitant to spread this news.   However, after checking with our sources and after checking the feed ourselves and finding that it actually worked, Cloud USA finally decided to spread the word via our Twitter and facebook.  And then it was sleepy time.

Now, Wednesday is one the few days off I get during the work week.  As a result, I usually sleep in a little on Wednesday mornings.  So, you can imagine how thrilled I was at having to set my alarm clock to get up for the morning premiere of a show that I couldn’t even understand Yes, that is sarcasm you are reading there.  Just in case you missed it.  (Rain?  Dude!  You’d BETTER be appreciating this, man.  I’m just saying…)

8:30 a.m. Eastern Standard Time, my alarm goes off.  I smack it stupid and knock it off my night stand.  Then, I fall out of bed and somehow manage to stumble to my desk to open up the live feed.  And suddenly there on my computer monitor is an advertisement for guess what?  Domanja! Wah!  (Let me tell you, that was much more effective than my alarm clock.  And twice as pretty.  :-})

So, now I’m awake.  I’m so excited that I log onto Cloud USA’s forum (http://cloudusa.lefora.com/) to see if anyone is over there.  To my delight, the Clouds have already gathered in high anticipation of the show’s start.  There’s me (and Stephe) in Atlanta; Melanie (Mel) in Australia; Starrain (Star) in Las Vegas; Reddrogue from Indiana; StormofStarzZ2 (Stormy) in Connecticut; and DNogitsune (DN), who is in Korea and who is actually watching the premiere on her television (yes, we are envious, especially when she tells us about her meet up with some very special clouds before the show…).  Even Divalcious (Diva) joins us later, kicking herself for missing all but the last 10 minutes of the episode.

As soon as all of the commercials are done (about a gazillion of them), the drama starts in earnest, and we are abruptly in Rain-drenched heaven as Rain swims into view.  Ahhh.

Ji-Woo’s  “womanizing jerk” and “keen private-eye outlaw” character captivates us.  Jung-Jin plays the “tortured cop determined to bring Ji-Woo to justice” spectacularly.  Na-Young’s obvious scheming and amazing action prowess keeps us guessing.  (Just exactly what is that girl up to anyway?  Hmm?)

Although we try to keep the chatting to a minimum, sometimes we just can’t help ourselves.  Some of our more memorable chat moments:

StormofStarzZ2:  g’mornin darling 🙂

1starrain:  That gun doesn’t have that many bullets *g.

CloudUSA:  Rain just said, “Oh, hallelujah.”  In English.  LOL.  Ridiculous.

CloudUSA:  Him surrounded by like 10 monks who know martial arts.

DNogitsune:  pissed off monks.

DNogitsune:  I can guess what he said in that one…Give me the F****** keys.

StormofStarzZ2:  Look at him being all techy.  Lol.

CloudUSA:  Take a look at my GUN, sweetie.  ROFL.

CloudUSA:  Where have I seen her before…Ah.  Now I remember.

DNogitsune:  No one is going to get into her house…

DNogitsune:  Seriously, I want his computer system and TV.

CloudUSA:  Awwwww…Rain crying.  Always effective.

DNogitsune:  I want his phone too.

DNogitsune:  (Ji-Woo’s contact in Beijing) Stop calling me I am trying to score here…that is what the guy is thinking … Ji-Woo: B**ch, I will call you till you answer the phone.

DNogitsune:  (after the intruders’ arrival…)  Well, there goes that idea of security.

CloudUSA:  GOOD KITTY!

And then suddenly, before we know it, the show is over and it is back to reality.  What?!  An hour has passed already?  How the heck did that happen?  My reaction was about as dramatic as Ji-Woo’s below.  (Aww.)

The good news is that although some of us were more successful at watching the show than others (due to crappy Internet/live feed issues), everyone seemed to enjoy the experience of watching the premiere “together” and being able to chat with each other during the show.  We enjoyed it so much, in fact, that we decided we would try it again tomorrow morning, for the second episode’s airing.

So, if you’re around on Thursday, September 30, at 8:45 a.m., Eastern Standard Time, Clouds, please drop by the forum and KBS Able and join us.  We’d love to have you.  The show will start promptly at 9:00 a.m.

— Terri :-} *putting her alarm clock back on her nightstand in honor of the occasion.  :-}*

** P.S.  FYI, Cloud USA received a tweet from KBSWorldi earlier today saying that they would be getting their episodes of Domanja on October 6th!  We are crazy excited by that and we hope you are too.  :-}

And… drumroll… a making of Nikon CF with Rain and best friend Bbaek-Ga, back while they were in the Philippines earlier this month.  A little birdie had told us that Rain was shooting a commercial spot there, so we’ve been waiting for footage of it to surface.  It stands to reason that Bbaek-Ga would be involved, as he has mad skills as a photographer and has indeed been working as one since his recovery.

My goodness, isn’t Bbaek-Ga just CUTE as a button?

And Ji-Hoon… it goes without saying that these visuals of Our Mr. Handsome on the streets of the Philippines are wonderful.  Great job, Nikon!

(brief translation by rain bird @rain-eu.)

[any rewording by Stephe @CloudUSA]

0:03~0:06
“The Fugitive Plan B” rewrites Korea’s history of drama.

Drama “The Fugitive Plan B” has finally been unveiled.

00:20~
A production report conference of “The Fugitive Plan B”, without doubt 2010’s most anticipated drama, was held in Seoul.

00:37~00:47
Becoming a cat-and-mouse game to find the gold bullion that disappeared on the Korean War, comic action drama “The Fugitive Plan B” features a sensuous image and a story which is flawless in structure and [plot], which attracts attention.

00:40
Photo time before the press conference.

When Rain and Lee Jung Jin were asked to pose for photos with Daniel Henney, the two didn’t want to stand next to [him] because Daniel Henney is so handsome.

1:05
The main points to ponder in this drama are as follows :

First : The drama boasts all-star-studded cast.

1:07
World star Rain who has returned with glory [after] 5 years, plays the main character, a private detective named JiWoo.

1:11
Lee Na Young who has made her [drama comeback after 6 years], plays a character named JinYi, whose feelings are hurt [emotions have been damaged ^@@^].

1:16~1
Lee Jung Jin plays a character named DoSoo who works [for Korean Police headquarters’ Foreign Division].

In addition, a lot of Korean top stars such as Daniel Henney, Yun SonHa, Sung DongIl, Gong HyungJin, etc., appear in the drama.

1:27~1:34
This is the first time Lee Na Young has attempted to play an action scene.  She has tried to shake off the image of purity and innocence.

1:36~
Lee Na Young : I’ve wanted to perform such action scenes. I’m still not used to this work because it’s my first time, so I just feel that the other action stars are avoiding me. (laughing)

1:51
Second : This drama [shows first class action and is on a grand scale.]

1:55~2:03
All members of the cast have given themselves fully to their own roles.  Blockbuster action scenes have been shot on location in Asia’s 7 [major] cities.  It includes many breathtaking action scenes and compulsive viewing not seen on TV before.

2:05
Rain : I play an intense cat-and-mouse scene with Lee Jung Jin in the drama, so I have to keep running a lot.

2:14~2:19
Lee Jung Jin : At first, I had to shoot more running scenes than speaking scenes. It was probably me who saw [Rain’s] back most often throughout the year.

2:22
The unusual aspect of this drama is that there are dynamic road chase scenes between Rain and Lee Jung Jin, so the two have probably got along better.

2:26
Rain : Lee Jung Jin and I are in love with each other. (laughing)

2:31
Third : A love triangle.

2:35~2:41
Rain and Lee Na Young pleasantly squabble over nothing every time they meet, while Lee Na Young and Daniel Henney do love each other pathetically. [unable to help it ^@@^]

2~3:04
Q : Who would you choose as your potential mate between Daniel Henney and Rain?

Lee Na Young : I think it is something many female viewers will lose sleep over.

(Couldn’t I choose both of them?) – the caption.

3:09
‘The Fugitive Plan B’, the most comic action packed drama you have ever seen [to] hit [this year], is to be on the air every Wednesday and Thursday.

<The last part>
Male MC : Who would you choose between Daniel Henney and Rain?

Female MC : I’ll choose Rain because I like a good dancer.

Male MC : Please stretch your imagination in your dream alone. (laughing) [Did he tell her “only in your dreams, hon”…?  LOL! ^@@^]

MTV World K revisits Rain Live in New York…

… with a most excellent slide show this month.

And might I add: the K-pop fans that Rain “brought the house down on” were of all shapes and sizes, colors and ethnicities in this great Melting Pot that is the U.S. of A.

It really pleased him, that women of every color imaginable found him so special, and it certainly took him by surprise.  A documentary from that time even quotes him as being sincerely flattered and having an absolute epiphany when not only Asian women and white women, but also black women approached him on the streets gushing with love and admiration.  “I can make it here.  I want to make it here.”

Yes you can, Ji-Hoon.  And yes you will.

[ETA: English Caps] Rain featured on Philippines entertainment spot The Beat.

Enjoy this news report that goes back and chronicles part of Rain’s stay in Manila.  It revisits the Intensity show, a Rain fan’s journey from Southern California, Rain’s stop at Korean cuisine restaurant Maru, and other things of interest.

A representative for the Manila Hotel says that Rain was “treated like royalty” and even shows us the bed he slept in.  Well I say he should have been treated like royalty, quite frankly.  He literally worked his @ss off while he was there, in more ways than one.

Check this out.

Rain says he’s done a lifetime’s worth of running for Fugitive.

10asia 9/27/2010 —

Asian pop sensation Rain, who is constantly on the run as a fugitive in upcoming TV series “Fugitive Plan B,” has said he has had to run so much that he has probably done a lifetime’s worth of running.

In the romantic comedy investigative action series about a conspiracy involving a hefty sum of money going missing in times of the Korean War 60 years ago, Rain plays Gee-woo, a private detective at an international secret agency who becomes pegged as the murderer of his own old friend.

“Lee Jung-jin and my relationship is that of a chaser and the chased so we really ran a lot… I’ve done a lifetime’s worth of running,” the singer and actor told media outlets during a press conference for the drama held in Seoul on Monday.

He explained, however, that the action sequences were “not too tough to handle” after having received a year’s worth of grueling training in Hollywood for Wachowski Brothers’ pic “Ninja Assassin” last year which had left him with zero percent body fat.

The downside, he said, was that the show’s director Gwak Jeong-hwan of hit drama “The Slave Hunters” fame, was becoming increasingly expectant of their performance.

“He was doubtful of us pulling off the action sequences at first but after we succeeded the first few times, he now thinks we can do anything and so just yesterday, we jumped over a wall three meters high,” Rain jokingly complained.

From the start of the press conference, Rain had expressed his excitement over working with Gwak and writer Chun Sung-il, the mastermind duo behind “The Slave Hunters” which he claimed to have been a fan of.

Starring Jang Hyuk, Oh Ji-ho and Lee Da-hae, the show hit viewership ratings of nearly 36 percent during its two-month run from January this year and was lauded by critics for its strong storyline and beautiful scenes produced through the use of a Red One camera.

Rain, whose real name is Jung Ji-hoon, rose to stardom throughout Asia through his solo singing career in 2002, but has made several solid acting appearances on the small screen as well including “Sang Doo! Let’s Go to School” and “Full House.”

“Fugitive,” a 20-part series featuring a multinational cast of Korean actors Lee Na-young, Daniel Henney, Lee Jung-jin, Kong Hyung-jin, Yoon Son-ha, Hong Kong-‘s Ti Lung, China’s Josei Ho, and Japanese actors Takenaka Naoto and Uehara Takako, will premiere on September 29 on KBS.

Rain expresses his thoughts for his upcoming drama.

•September 27, 2010 • 5 Comments

This is a nice read..!  I enjoyed it. 🙂

But tell me—why am I seeing announcements of “Rain is going into the military in 2011” all over the Blogosphere (and that’s all, no additional info)?  The Military Manpower authorities told us that last month, folks. :/

Allkpop 9/27/2010 —

Singer and actor Rain, a.k.a Jung Ji Hoon, expressed his thoughts about his character in his new upcoming drama KBSFugitive‘ during a recent press conference for the drama.

Rain said, “I’m a character who you weren’t able to see in other movies or TV dramas. When I first decided to take on this production, I talked with scriptwriter Chun. The character is someone whose progress consistently orients around a woman he likes. I’m having fun filming it. I hope you enjoy it too.”

He continued, “I watched the drama ‘Chuno’ religiously. Not because of the storyline or the beautiful scenes, but because Lee Hyuk hyung did so well.. But the scenes were beautiful. I really wanted to film a production like ‘Chuno’. Director Kwak Jung Hwan, scriptwriter Chun Sung Il and me, us three got to meet up. We had a mutual understanding and decided to work hard together.”

Rain also talked about his past dramas ‘Sang Doo! Let’s Go to School’ and ‘Full House‘. He said, “KBS gave me a lot of opportunities. There are a lot of good people as staff and I’m having fun.”

‘Fugitive’, which is set to air its first episode on the 29th, is comical action drama about a group of international investigators and policemen chasing around a group of criminal organizations for a lump of gold that suddenly disappeared from a Korean bank.

Not only was the drama filmed all around Asia, such as Japan’s Tokyo and Osaka, China’s Shanghai and Beijing, Macau, Hong Kong and The Philippines, popular Asian actors such as Japanese actor Naoto Dakenaka, Japanese group Speed’s Uehara Takako, and Chinese actress Josie Ho are also set to make appearances in this action packed drama.

Super TV’s clip of the Ji-Woo/Kai rivalry over Jin-Yi.  They’re both so convincing.  You did the right thing, Na-Young.  I wouldn’t have picked between The Rain and The Henney in public either, not with them looking like their very lives hinged on your answer.  No way! — ^@@^ (credit: 스팟TV SuperTV / scorpiolabibi @YT)

Rain confidently expressed “I’ll join the Army sometime next year.”

He answered a question about his joining the Air Force, “I’m supposed to film a movie related to fighter jets after this drama. I think the information on my next movie has been mis-communicated as if I’m [actually] joining the Air Force.”

In other words, fans—PLEASE take what you read from the media with a huge grain of salt.  People were freaking out over that “Rain wants to be a fighter pilot!” story as if it were really true, when it actually made NO sense at all right off the bat.

Flying jets is a lifelong career choice and takes YEARS of training.  It’s not something you just decide to do after eight years of being a dancer/singer/actor/designer/producer.  It’s not just some hobby you decide to try out during 18 months of mandatory service.  If Rain wanted to be fighter pilot, he would have joined up right out of high school, be a Top Gun by now, and we wouldn’t even be having this conversation.

“So, Rain wants to be a fighter pilot!” was the reporter’s opinion.  That’s all.  ^@@^

Q : Who would you choose as your potential mate between Daniel Henney and Rain?

Lee Na Young : In comparison, I can’t pick between the two, not only in their real lives but also in their own characters in the drama.

Did you see them both trying to sway her answer?  ROFL!  Down, boys… down!  LOL! (heavens, why isn’t my name Na-Young) ^@@^

°

Lee Jung Jin said about the drama shooting with Rain (Jung Ji Hoon), “I originally looked forward to a romance with an actress, but the most memorable [sight] for me was Rain’s back. [I probably saw his back more than anyone else did] throughout the year.  [Lots of running], even if I’ve grown older, [has made me] feel much better [healthwise]. At first, I shot more running scenes than speaking scenes.”

Q : What’s your relationship? Are you rivals?

Lee Jung Jin : I guess I should [consider that] if I make a music album.

Rain (Jung Ji Hoon) : Lee Jung Jin and I are in love with each other. (laughing)  I thought Jung Jin hyung (Lee Jung Jin) was my female [lead] when we started shooting the drama because he and I had to shoot a lot of action and fighting scenes. Unfortunately I was only shooting speaking scenes with my real female partner.

Lee Jung Jin : Rain and I [had to touch a lot due to many] action scenes, but [it was great having Jung Ji Hoon as my female lead]. (laughing)

ROFLMAO! I absolutely love these two. ^@@^

°

Thank heaven for the Henney—no translation needed.  Ha!

But boy, does Korean sound great coming out of his mouth too, or what?  What is it about that language?  Goodness me.  ^@@^

Rain was confident, “I had a nice dream, but I didn’t buy any lottery ticket.”

“PD Kwak Jung Hwan told me that he had looked up his fortune for 2010, that is that he would be helped by a man  named Jung (Rain). But I didn’t buy any lottery ticket. I have a good feeling about this drama.”

“I play a new character not seen on TV or a movie before. I’ve been shooting the drama, having a great time. Hope you enjoy the drama.”

We have a good feeling too.  A great feeling.  Now let’s see how this plays out. 😀 ^@@^
