Remember when all the news stories hit back in August that Rain might be starring in a remake of director Sang-ok Shin’s 1964 movie Red Scarf? And remember when, during a press conference not long ago, Rain said out of his own mouth that he would be doing a fighter pilot movie after The Fugitive: Plan B?
Well, word on the street is that his “Red Scarf” odyssey is beginning. How exciting! (Remember, it’s all in the translation… scarf = muffler. Same difference.) » Allkpop’s post on the matter is HERE.
This has not been confirmed by J.Tune yet, as of this posting. So stay tuned.

Newsen 12/6/2010 —
Rain is cast to play the hero in “Red Muffler,” a 10 billion KRW blockbuster.
‘Red Muffler’, a 10 billion KRW (around $9,000,000) blockbuster, stars actor and singer Rain, alongside actress ‘Sin Se Kyung’.
In particular, in the film, Rain’ll play as a fighter pilot bombing Pyongyang, the capital of North Korea, which attracts great attention.
Recently, in a situation where there is a growing public sentiment that North Korea must be more severely punished for bombing Yunpyung island belonging to South Korea, this film that contains a scene in which South Korea’s missile strikes into Pyongyang, the heart of the North Korea, will be the talk of town during and after its release.
During the phone call with Newsen on the 6th, an official from the film studio (CJ Entertainment) expressed, “Rain has selected ‘Red Muffler’ as his last project before his joining the army, while actress ‘Sin Se Kyung’ will play the heroine of the film.”
In the film, Rain and ‘Sin Se Kyung’ will play a fighter pilot character named ‘Tae Hoon’, and an aircraft mechanic character named ‘Se Young’, respectively, and they build a loving relationship with each other.
One of the production crew said about this, “Rain has signed up for the film, but in her case, the offer has been accepted, subject to contract because the issue of appearance fee is not solved yet.”
‘Red Muffler’ will be produced by the unwavering support of the Air Force, and the production side has been promised to access through the several military installations in the airbase located in Rain’s hometown, Seosan, in Chungchungnam-do, and it begins shooting as early as late January of next year.

… as covered by KBS 2TV in 2007, concerning his role as rookie racer “Taejo Togokahn.” This press con was during filming in Germany, because by the time the movie actually premiered, JiHoon had grown his hair out long for Ninja Assassin.
He looked pretty darned happy here, I will say. 🙂
Please see our Cloud USA Facebook page for a little more Taejo goodness.

Here is the press con from Reelz Channel’s point of view, just so that you can see who all was there. They don’t talk to Rain in this video, but you do see his name plate (Ji Hoon Jung) right behind producer Joel Silver’s head. (And incidentally, Mr. Silver and the Wachowski Brothers snatched Rain up really quickly after that for Ninja Assassin.)
GO SPEED RACER!!!. (courtesy of ReelzChannel @YT)

Aaaand… A nice bonus for you! Nearly a year later, Leicester Square covers the Speed Racer premiere in the U.K. Believe it or not, it was raining that day! They start off their Rain coverage by talking to a group of young Koreans about him, and end it with a pretty cool interview with the Man himself. JiHoon done good!

The Asian Games closing ceremony? My heavens! That was fast! O_O
And so Rain arrives in Guangzhou, China via Guangzhou Airport, and takes us for a very brief ride in the streets. Then we are whisked on to Guangdong Olympic Stadium and down into the cavernous bowels of the place on the way to the rehearsal stage, where his Men are waiting. And there is the now famous Closing Ceremony ID tag hanging safely around his talented neck.
(RAINY DAY sneaks in a little interview time where he was dazzling in black. This footage ended up on YTN and SBS entertainment news not long after that.)
As the Man and the Men ascend the red-carpeted practice stage, you can’t help marveling at how HUGE Guangdong Stadium is. How many people did it take to erect that Asiad arch? *gaping* Looks like hats are the order of the day, seeing as though Rain and SungTak are both bareheaded, someone has on a ball cap, someone else is wearing a beanie, Hongshi and another guy are sporting paper boy caps, and long-haired Gori is wearing a bowler (sorry, I just can’t see everyone’s faces clearly, so I know I’m missing someone)— Oops, JiHoon has to pause in his instructions to say hello to fans who would not be deterred. 🙂
Okay, JiHoon dear, those turquoise trousers are like a neon beacon in the night. No matter where you’re standing, BOOM, a person’s eye can’t fail to catch you. Did you do that on purpose, pray tell? Cool sneaks, by the way. 🙂
Hahaha. Every time our man gets off the stage and then gets back on it, the onlookers have mini-fits. Seems to be a lot of people there… I wonder what it took to be able to get in there and watch that rehearsal? Surely a person couldn’t have just walked in, right? Maybe some people sitting in the actual stadium were athletes. Lucky ducks. *jealous*
During the “Rainism” run-through and mic-checks, rather than dance, they just marked the steps. That’s right Men, don’t hurt ’em just yet. Save it for the actual show. 😉
Aaaaand… it’s showtime! Ah-ha. Is that SooBong and KyuSang flanking Rain as they wait for their cues? Rain looks a little nervous, and he should be. Then the rain graphics begin, and our Man confidently ascends the red stairs like the King of K-Pop that he is. Wow, check that performance. Every move is sharp and ON POINT. Hey, ho, Rain, go.
All in all, this was an enjoyable episode. Just a bit of a surprise, seeing as the closing ceremony of the 16th Asian Games was only a few days ago! I can’t imagine where we’ll be next week — I’ve been totally thrown off my game. 😀

No, no, I’m not frothing at the mouth because my undies are in a twist about something, I promise. This is LOL fun.
I know… are you shocked? 😛
Well you see, a little while ago, it came to our attention that our U.K. connection and Forum moderator Katie was 1) absolutely BORED with the food in her country, and 2) doesn’t get to eat any American foods because what does make it over into her neck of the woods is incredibly expensive. Five bucks for a 50-cent candy bar? That would be a hell to the naw! (translation: NO way) Girl had never had a Pop Tart? Seriously?
American food can’t be called boring, that’s for sure (and I’ve got the junk all in my trunk and side doors to prove it), so Terri’s like, “Let’s send Katie a care package!” And I was like, “Absolutely. Let’s hit the superstore!” Poor Katie had been really sick, poor thing, and stressed with school, and really good for Cloud USA too, so that was the perfect thing to do. Terri came to pick me up and off we went.
(Jim, Alex, and Kris… don’t go getting any ideas. Just sayin’.)
Anyway, yesterday I was taking a gander at Katie’s personal blog, right? And what did I see? Our grits on the Internet! (yes, we included some Southern “cuisine” as well) Katie had gotten her care package and put up pictures with the adorable Milo peeking into the box. ROFL! Wasn’t expecting that, but boy, did it cheer up my day… that and the fact that it made her so happy.
Inhale it s-l-o-w-l-y, Katie, and you’ll be able to avoid the Junk In Trunk syndrome, okay? Happy Eating! LMAO
» You can read Katie’s fun post and see all of the pics on her Purplezest blog HERE.
And all my appreciation to Terri, who struggled with wrapping everything up and wrestling that big ass box to the post office. Hugs, chingu.

Yes. Yes it is, sir. And your voice without the music is KILLING ME SOFTLY. (that’s right — Roberta Flack’s got nothing on me)

Newsen 12/3/2010 — [Spoilers]
Rain’s beautiful and big hands to raise women’s pulse rate.
In the 19th episode of KBS 2TV’s every Wednesday and Thursday drama series ‘The Fugitive Plan B’ aired on December 2nd, Rain and ‘Lee Na Young’ were seen communicating with sign language using their fingers.
In a situation where ‘Ji Woo’ (Rain) and Jinny (Lee Na Young) had to escape from the hospital to avoid being seen by police director ‘Baek’ (Denny Ahn), ‘Ji Woo’ wrote on Jinny’s hand when police security was slack, while the scene was narrated by the two.
When ‘Ji Woo’ spelled words on her hand, “The gold bars are in danger”, she answered back with the question using her fingers, “Why?”. Following, ‘Ji Woo’ wrote on her hand again, “There’ll be our ward rounds. I”ll act as a doctor, while you’ll act as a nurse. Everything will be OK because I always stand by you in joy and sorrow.”
And then, the two were able to escape from the hospital safely.
In that scene where the conversations of using their fingers between the two, there was a close-up of their fingers for a long time.
Since ‘Jung Ji Hoon’ (Rain) who is 185 centimeters tall, has fitting big hands to the large stature, ‘Lee Na Young’s hands looked cute and sweet relatively.
Viewers responded enthusiastically to that scene after the episode, “Ji Woo’s hands are really big. In contrast, Jinny’s hands look so small.” “He has the hands I’ve always dreamed about. I even once wish to be grabbed by the hand by him” “Sure enough, ‘Ji Woo’ has fitting big hands to the large stature. His hands are so beautiful even if they are big.”

Five-member boy band MBLAQ will hold their first live concert in Singapore on Saturday.
According to the group’s agency J. Tune Entertainment on Friday, MBLAQ will take part in the Mnet Ultimate Live in Asia (MULA) Concert where they will perform not only as a group but stage solo performances as well.
Lee Jun, the rapper of the group, will dance to music “Last Carnival,” displaying his skills as a former modern dance major when he attended the Korea National University of Arts (KNUA).
Seung-ho, the leader of the group, will take a shot at dancing the moves of world-renowned choreographer Lyle Beniga who is known in Korea for teaching Big Bang member Taeyang.
Member Chun-dung will reenact a performance by singer and actor Rain while Mir and G.O. will stage their rapping and band playing skills.
The group will leave for Singapore on Friday and return to Korea immediately after the show to focus on their next full-length album.
After being discovered and trained by Asia superstar Rain for two years, MBLAQ debuted in October 2009 with single album “Just BLAQ” which was followed by their second single “Y” in May this year.
The group’s latest song “Bang Bang Bang,” a song to the soundtrack of KBS drama “Fugitive: Plan B” and their earlier title track “Running & Running” of the same drama has also been doing well in the local OST chart.

*Please note: The drama written about in this piece is 대물 (Dae-mul), which people have loosely translated to “Big Things”, “The President”, “Big Fish”, or “The Substitute.” As far as I can tell, the closest and most proper of all of these to the Hangeul title is “The Substitute.”
And I can’t for the life of me understand why the Powers That Be didn’t adopt either that, or perhaps “The Substitute President”, or something like that for a translation because now, with the new drama 프레지던트 (Peu-re-ji-deon-teu) about to start, which actually does translate to only “President,” people are pretty confused.
Well, anyway.

10asia 12/3/2010 —Heidi Kim, Correspondent
Viewership ratings for all three Wednesdays and Thursdays prime time series declined this week but SBS drama “The President” continued to keep its lead for the eighth week straight.
“The President” scored an average viewership rating of 24.3 percent, according to data by Total National Multimedia Research (TNmS) and 25.2 percent from statistics by AGB Nielson Media Research on December 3, both seeing about a one percent drop in ratings from last week.
“The President” starring Ko Hyun-jung, Kwon Sang-woo and Cha In-pyo, about one woman’s quest to become the first female president of the country, finally signaled the start to the race for presidency.
The ratings for KBS’ detective story “Fugitive: Plan B” which came in next, declined even further from last week, collecting average marks of 11.8 percent on surveys by both TNmS and AGB.
The same drama had fetched scores of 14.3 percent and 13.9 percent from TNmS and AGB’s polls, respectively, last Wednesday. Its Thursday portion was cancelled due to a basketball match for Guangzhou Asian Games.
“Fugitive: Plan B” starring Rain and Lee Na-young is story about a detective and his female client getting chased by cops and gangs as they get entangled in a case searching for gold that disappeared almost a century ago.
MBC’s “Home Sweet Home,” a family drama shrouded with murder mystery, posted average ratings of 6.7 percent on TNmS’ chart and 7.4 percent on AGB’s data, both also falling short of the single-day record from last week.
The drama, last Wednesday, scored 6.9 percent on TNmS’ survey and 8.6 percent on AGB’s poll while its Thursday show was pushed back to this week due to the aforementioned Guangzhou Asiad basketball match.

Lovely Clouds,
This is the first post in Cloud USA‘s Meet-Up Groups topic.
In January 2011, we will be starting a meet-up group here in Atlanta for all of the Clouds who live here locally and who would like to get together for regular face-to-face fan meetings. We are doing this because we truly believe that face-to-face meetings are critical in growing and solidifying Rain’s fan base here in the United States, and in helping him achieve his goal of becoming a world star.
If you would like to volunteer to lead a local meet-up group in your area, wherever that may be, please let us know, and we will add your city to our list. Your job, as leader (should you accept it), would be to coordinate and attend the meetings, use your city’s thread on the forum here to lead your group, and to promote and support Rain to the best of your ability.
We are very excited about this opportunity and we hope you are too. As always, we welcome your ideas, suggestions, and feedback.
We will be posting some of our own suggestions for your meet-up groups as soon as they are ready. In the meantime, please let us know if you would like to help.
Always,
Terri :-} and Stephe ^@@^
How awesome is this? 😀 » And don’t forget to check out Nastacia’s Black Mamba VS. Ninja Assassin slide show.

The Miami Movie Examiner 11/30/2010— Nastacia Rollins, Correspondent
The Bride also known as Beatrice Kiddo but better known as “Black Mamba” was the target of a maliciously deadly attack at her wedding in El Paso, Texas after a noble attempt to leave Bill and the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad. Referred to as the deadliest woman in the world, Black Mamba sought out her revenge against all those directly involved with her attempted murder after awaking from a four-year long coma. The metal plate in her head and her unborn child missing, Beatrice awoke with vengeance as she murdered Buck and one of his customers who enjoyed raping comatose women. The Bride was responsible for the deaths Vernita “Copperhead” Green (Vivica Fox), O-Ren “Cottonmouth” Ishii (Lucy Liu), Bill “Snake Charmer” (David Carradine), Budd “Sidewinder” (Michael Madsen), and Elle “California Mountain Snake” Driver (Daryl Hannah). She was brutally trained in China by a legendary martial arts Master Pai Mei and her braveness and hunger for vengeance is replicated throughout the two films.
“It all depends. When do you want to die? Tomorrow? The day after tomorrow?” – The Bride/ Beatrice Kiddo
Raised by the Ozunu Clan, Raizo is the most lethal assassin in the world. If you blink, you will miss the beheading of the his target. If you squint you may get a glance at the ravenous look on his face as he murders his opponents.
“This is not my family. You are not my Father. And the breath I take after I kill you will be the first breath of my life.” – Raizo
So the question is if Black Mamba and Ozunu Raizo were to go toe-to-toe, sword-to-sword? Both of them have a sensitive side but it is definitely not reflected in the stopped hearts of their foes. Black Mamba is persistent and undoubtedly skilled with the sword. Her techniques resulted in the many dismemberments and death. But when you compare this with someone who is trained to kill from birth, who will win the fight?
“We’ll have us a knife fight.” – dearly departed Vernita “Copperhead” Green.
Since it’s coming down to the wire and we’re so excited we can hardly stand it…

If the first wave of Hallyu was driven by Korean TV dramas, the new Korean Wave sweeping Asia is full of enthusiasm for Korean pop music and its performers.
Through the internet, the Korean Wave has spread beyond Asia to Latin America and the Middle East, while never losing its edge in nearby countries like Japan, China and Taiwan.
Korean pop star Rain performs at Guangzhou Games
Over 30,000 athletes and spectators gathered at Haixinsha Island to celebrate the closing ceremony of the 16th Asian Games on November 27. Rain, one of Korea’s most popular entertainers, performed three of his hit songs at the closing ceremony of the 2010 Guangzhou Games.Rain gave an impressive performance, showcasing hit songs like “Rainism.” The exclusive solo-performance was part of a promotion for Incheon, Korea, which will host the next Asian Games in 2014. Rain had previously performed at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.Meanwhile, Korean singer Kim Hyun-joong also performed at the opening ceremony of the Asian games, earlier in November.
BEAST performs in TokyoAlso on Nov. 27, six-member boy band BEAST (Boys of the EAst Standing Tall) was showcased at Tokyo Big Sight, one of the largest exhibition spaces in Tokyo. Ten-thousand Japanese fans attended the show case, and tickets for the event sold out in ten minutes.Although BEAST has yet to officially debut in Japan, 40 reporters from the Asahi News, Sankai News, Nihon TV, NHK, and other news and media organizations were there to report on the event. The audiences were also already familiar with the group’s work, singing along with BEAST as they performed songs from their latest album.
Following the success of Dong Bang Shin Ki (DBSK), Girl’s Generation, KARA and other K-pop acts in Japan, BEAST is expected to do well.
BEAST first debuted a year ago in Korea and preparing to do so in Japan. Although they won’t officially debut in Japan until next February, they’ve already released a premium edition of their compiled works, including two mini-albums and a DVD, for the Japanese market on Nov. 24. The compilation has already reached the top ten on the Oricon daily album chart.
Mnet Asian Music Awards broadcast live in 14 countriesOn Nov. 28, over 10,000 fans flocked to the Cotai Arena at the Venetian Macao to see the 2010 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA), the biggest annual music awards show in Asia. The event, titled “One Asia, One Love,” aired live in 14 countries across Asia, and was also shown in countries like Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
The show featured many special performances by artists from Korea. The lineup included famous musicians and groups like Japan’s Chemistry and China’s Zhang Jie, along with popular K-pop acts such as 2NE1, 2PM, Wonder Girls, and Big Bang. The “Best International Artist” winners, Far*East Movement, also attended the show and performed their hit song, “Like a G6.”Highlights included dance performances by 2PM and 2NE1. 2NE1 picked up a total of four awards, including “Artist of the Year” and “Album of the Year.” The show took place outside of Korea for the first time ever.By Hwang Dana

Hello Lovely Clouds,
Thought you might like this additional tidbit I found while I was roaming around on the Dresden Musical Festival website. Below is a screenshot of the actual event program entry for Rain and Vogler’s performance. (Does the picture look familiar? (Hint: Lotte event…Shanghai…) Below THAT is my actual English translation for the program entry.
English Translation of program entry: Terri @CloudUSA :-}
“In this concert, Asia meets Europe: Rain and Jan Vogler blow up the boundaries between popular and classical music. When they appear together, they send their musical message to young people on two continents. The performances of the Korean singer, Rain, deemed the Asian Michael Jackson, are already cult. By the way, this not even 30-year-old Musician and Dancer from Seoul is also a Designer, Producer, and an Action Film Star. Rain moves between rhythm and blues and hip hop; Jan Vogler between Bach, Dvorˇák, and Jimi Hendrix. That apparent opposites attract proves that their joint appearance in the Semperoper will be interesting.”
The download page for the festival’s full program is here: 2011 Dresden Music Festival Program. Rain’s entry is on page 12.

The Korean singer Rain is considered the »Asian Michael Jackson«; his performances have already acquired cult status. »On the side,« the musician and dancer from Seoul, who has not even celebrated his 30th birthday yet, is also a designer, producer and film star. Rain moves as effortlessly between pop, rhythm and blues and hip hop as Jan Vogler moves between Bach, Dvořák and Jimi Hendrix. The fact that opposites attract will be proven by their joint performance at the Semperoper – an event to look forward to!

Do enjoy this eTV entertainment news clip from February 2007, when Rain and Song HyeKyo did promotions in China for their 2004 Full House hit drama.

… and we quite agree with that statement. 😀
In this KBS 1 TV news clip on amazing South Korean figure-skating beauty Kim Yuna, beloved by her country, a panel of English speakers talk about what kind of impact the talented and dazzling Yuna has made on the world. And a young black man speaks on how Yuna and other South Korean entertainers—Rain, in particular—will definitely help boost their country’s image on the world stage.
We loved revisiting how Yuna wowed us all at the Olympics in Vancouver. We certainly appreciate the kind words the young man had for Rain and Yuna.
The brief panel discussion begins at minute 5:06… but please do enjoy the entire report, those of you who are Yuna fans! 🙂

Daily Sports, 12/1/2010 —
All the leading cast members, ‘Jung Ji Hoon'(Rain), ‘Lee Na Young’, ‘Daniel Henney’, ‘Lee Jung Jin’, etc, of Korean blockbuster drama series “The Fugitive Plan B”, have decided to hit it off really well and engage in charity work before the drama is over.
Since there are only a couple more days until the end of the drama, emptiness is overcoming the members who have striven to shoot the drama over the past 5 months, so they have decided to have a meeting regularly.
In particular, they all heartily agree with what Rain says, “Combining a meeting with doing some good things such as handing foods around poor people or visiting orphanages, makes no vacancies.”
The drama officials expressed, “Each of them has become more than a friend to each other as the drama has been filmed on location abroad for 3 months. All of them, including ‘Jung Ji Hoon’, are very busy with their own activities and sometimes it can be hard to spend some time with each other, but I think they have decided to take this opportunity to promote friendship between them, doing something good.”
Meanwhile, as the drama has demonstrated surprising grit before the end of it, rating for it (by Nielsen Media Research) has increased continuously.

On the left… JiWoo’s passport on The Fugitive: Plan B. On the right, supposedly… Rain’s 16th Asian Games Closing Ceremony ID/pass, as we understand it. The passport’s for sure, but we have no way of confirming the Asiad ID just now. Still…
Heheheh. Cute! — Stephe ^@@^
P.S.: Obviously at least one Poster Pop Quiz entrant has all eleven questions right, and the Nature Republic double-sided poster will have a sure home, or I wouldn’t have dared put this up, now would I? Bwahahahaha!
