“Michael Jackson, A Tribute” released in Japan: So… what is this thing, exactly?

Clouds,

This is NOT a music album.  It is a DVD.  A documentary.

It is an “unauthorized” tribute to Michael Jackson produced by World Wide Entertainment that includes brief interviews and statements from different individuals about Michael Jackson.  It has been out for about a year now, and the reviews are not great.

I don’t know what Rain does on this DVD, as I have not seen it myself.  However, I really doubt they actually interviewed Rain for this thing.  He probably just speaks in a brief spot interview about Michael Jackson, which he probably did for the general media.

Also, Rain’s name on the “cast” list was “added” to the Japanese version.  The English version doesn’t even include a cast list, much less Rain’s name.  So, if you buy this DVD expecting Rain to play a big part in this production, you may be sorely disappointed.

This news is getting so many people excited, that I just thought I’d share some of my fact-checking with you and throw in a word of caution.

Thanks,

Terri :-}

Boy, you have to really look hard at titles these days.  There’s yet another DVD (“Michael Jackson: A Tribute—An Unauthorized Film“) marketed by a different company around Australia and New Zealand, that uses some of the same product description as the other two.  Jeez.

  5. One thing I honestly don’t understand is how anyone could identify this as an album when it clearly says “DVD” on the cover. And it clearly says “DVD” in English on the Amazon.com/Japan page. *shrug*

    And I really wish I knew exactly what footage of Rain is in it. I wish someone who actually has it would do a post or an article to let people know…

  6. When I first read that Rain was asked to be on this I thought of it as a honor for Rain. That they would think enough of him to ask him to be on it. After reading this I am not sure how I should look at this.
