Rain and MENtholatum: Advice for men on Women’s Day.

•March 9, 2013 • 1 Comment

Cloud cover by: Stephe, Managing Editor ^@@^

China has made International Women’s Day (celebrated yesterday, March 8) a national holiday where women enjoy a half-holiday and mothers, daughters, and wives receive gifts from their families. MENtholatum thought it the perfect day to celebrate with the man of many women’s fantasies and dreams—their mens’ skincare line brand ambassador RAIN.

And we couldn’t agree more.

The gist of the second post: Women’s Day is an opportunity to appear most dynamic for your girls, so energize, deep-clean, and moisturize with hydrating face wash every single day…  ^@@^

753e36dejw1e2iijpvplrj

The gist of the first post: Whether you go for dinner or a movie (this time), perhaps next time you should jog in the evenings, guys… Your body will not only benefit from the continuous movement, but you will find that you fall asleep easier. Sports heal a life filled with pressures, and if your woman is health-conscious, she might even join you… ^@@^

The summer of 2012…

Ooooooooh.

Green on JiHoon’s shoulders… Is that a squad commander we’re looking at? 🙂

It’s a step up, for sure, because the last time we saw green was on Yu Geon back in the summer of 2012, and he was a sergeant. We don’t expect Rain to be a sergeant for another month or so… but you never know. ^@@^

[fan made] Video mementos of the Cloud Support Project for Corporal Jung JiHoon.

Talk about touching our hearts… ♥

Remember back in January, Clouds, when Rain doing his punishment for his recent (and ONLY) military infractions just wasn’t enough, and the bottom-feeding South Korean Media and accursed netizens continued their misinformation and witch hunt on him anyway? Rain’s a pretty strong guy (he’s had to be all these years), but there are times when you simply need all the support you can get, and that certainly was one of them. Clouds circled the wagons, descended on the official DEMA site, and delivered emotional support to him, in spades.

Our overseas coordinator and Korean Cloud sisters were instrumental in making sure that the messages from all of us Global Clouds (we can’t post on DEMA because we’re not Korean citizens) got posted as well as their own. The project added just over 2000 additional messages of support to the 1500+ that were already there for Rain on his profile page. To date, he has 321 total pages of messages.

Rain Lirio, in her thoughtfulness, has put together video mementos containing some of those messages, and others from across the Rainiverse. We thank her. How precious! ♥ ^@@^

Translated and posted by: huhuhuhu @The Cloud English Talk Board

“The writer of the TV program “A Match in Heaven” wrote about the youngest star of the program, Rain being late for the show.  Rain had only just debuted and was a rookie.  At the shooting day of the second show he was the last one to arrive.  There was a firework festival at the Han River area so probably the traffic was terribly jammed. Yet nobody rebuked Rain. He was wet from hair to toe as he arrived. People found out later he abandoned his manager and assistant in the car, and ran all the way from the bus station to get to the studio. He always tried his best – doesn’t he look so beautiful?”

[article] “It’s Raining” included in most influential music videos.

•February 28, 2013 • 1 Comment

Cloud cover by: Stephe, Managing Editor ^@@^

z52738555

We absolutely have no doubt that it should be included.

“It’s Raining” was the song (and the album) that left no doubt in South Korea’s mind that Rain was NOT just a dancer being marketed as a singer by JYPE. It forced everyone’s perception of him to change. He was a bona fide talent and here to stay, and “It’s Raining” became his biggest and signature tune.

Remember, Jeremy Krinsley at SHOUTcast wrote, “Rain has the distinction of being one of the Korean artists credited with building further hip hop and R&B influences into the KPOP universe in the tradition of Seo Taiji, perhaps most notably by inserting his moniker into the title of half his albums. So ‘It’s Raining’ is a shoe-in as Rain’s best KPOP song, and one of the top KPOP songs ever.” This sentiment has been shared throughout the first decade of Rain’s career by many in the music realm. The song will never get old. ^@@^

WBW: The Most Influential Music Videos

Can anyone imagine K-pop without the music video? From Psy to Girls’ Generation, the music video is becoming the defining characteristic behind our favorite K-pop groups. In a sense, it may actually be more important than the song itself because when a new song is released, instead of buying the CD (that’s so 10 years ago) or downloading the MP3, fans are now looking straight for the music video. It sets the tone and concept, and in a lot of cases, the majority of the budget goes towards the music video compared to the album production.

K-pop music videos are some of the most innovative in the world today but there were some great videos from back in the day that were pretty influential in their own right. This week’s WBW will take a look back at some of the most influential old school music videos from back in the day and while they might be older, they’re still pretty cool to watch….

» You can see all of the most influential MVs and read this article in its entirety on the Allkpop site HERE.

[RAIN EXCERPT]

Rain – It’s Raining

He had big hits before this but I don’t think you can argue that this song made Rain the man. He melds his unique dance style with an J.Y. Park original beat for one of his best videos and a K-pop classic that was the start of his journey to international recognition.

Gosh, 35 pounds in three months? Is anyone really surprised by this? *crickets* Nope!

This is why we hardly ever pay any attention to what Rain weighs at any given time—because he is a master at losing and gaining weight whether it be for a movie role, a CF for a sponsor, a project, or personal choice. His discipline and determination has always been pretty much off the charts—he always gets it done. He’ll weigh one thing, and then you blink, and he’ll weigh something else. It’s sort of a waste of time to even notice, haha. So we just let him be.

Of course, this isn’t the first time Rain has been referred to as the Top 몸짱 (momzzang, muscular physique) in the news, and likely won’t be the last. ^@@^

Rain’s trainer talks about his physical training

Rain’s trainer: “Rain’s body is the representative body workout of the entertainment industry.  He likes food, and his physical constitution is prone to gaining weight.”

On an MBC program on 27 February during which the guests talked about diet and exercise , Rain’s trainer talked about Rain’s training.  She called Rain Jihoon. “Jihoon has a physical constitution which gains weight easily.  Although his body is the representative body workout of the entertainment industry, after the extremely harsh training he had for “Ninja Assassin”, he recoiled {from ^@@^} exercising.  And he has always enjoyed eating food. ”

Trainer Park said, “When Rain came to see me for physical training, he had gained 16 kgs after the movie.  I am probably the only person who {has seen ^@@^} a rather chubby Rain. He told me he wanted to show his perfect abs in his MV “Love Song”, and would like to lose 16 kgs in 3 months.  We exercised together with him.”

Trainer Park continued, “If you ask Rain to skip the rope 10,000 times, he will really do it 10,000 times.  He will sincerely and honestly exercise.  If you give him homework, he will do it without fail.  It is not an easy task to lose 16 kgs in just 3 months.”

We get to see snippets of what the soldiers saw (on stage) and what they didn’t see (backstage and the prep before the show), from Yun Sung Kyeong and celeb soldier Sangchu getting their MC lines down, all the way to Corporal Rain closing out the show. Great idea, DEMA. (May be that the full show is to broadcast on military TV the 28th…)

Rain’s snippet starts right around minute marker 9:00, right after Sangchu’s partner Shorry joined him on stage for a Mighty Mouth reunion (that was cool, you know Shorry has missed his buddy!).

[Cloud USA poll] The Rain concert of your dreams, after military.

•February 26, 2013 • 25 Comments

Cloud cover by: Stephe, Managing Editor ^@@^

24(9)

Dear Clouds and Rain fans,

Look into the distance there. Look really hard. See that pinprick of light when you squint? That is the end of the tunnel, July 10, 2013. The beginning of Rain’s new era. Corporal Jung JiHoon’s military discharge and the start of his next decade is within sight.

In 19 weeks. Halleluia and Praise Be To The Heavens Above.

As you know, Rain has said during past Speeding Instincts that movie and music projects are lined up for him, and that he hopes to be able to thank his fans for their support with some fan meets and possibly some concerts. He has also hinted that he might be taking some months off to rest and recoup. Of course, all of this is up in the air and will be determined by various factors, time constraints, and Rain himself, depending on what he decides to do when.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to let him know what you’d like IF he came to your neck of the woods for a concert. What would be the Rain concert of your dreams, in this new era?

We’ll be holding the poll open for about two weeks, and then tweeting the results to him afterwards. (Yes, you have multiple choice, and you may vote as many times as you wish. Let’s make this a good discussion. Tell him what you want!)

Happy polling! ^@@^
