En route to Singapore for the upcoming shows ushering in the new year and some new Rain, Fab Ones SooBong and Hongshi take a moment to say hello to an icon in her own right, Miss Hello Kitty, at Incheon’s Hello Kitty Cafe.
Both intent on winning her heart.
Hongshi makes a bold move.
Ultimately, I think it’s a toss up and she can’t decide. Can you blame her? They are both pretty fabulous! ^.^

And what a storm it was.
At 11:48 AM EST, on December 29, Rain suddenly decided it was time to begin tweeting to promote his upcoming album release—with this cryptic message:
Ready? Are we ready? Oh, what a silly question, Rain. 🙂
Immediately afterward, Clouds began drumming up ideas with which to entertain themselves until 12:00 AM KST arrived (or 10:00 PM EST). What was going to happen, exactly, we didn’t know, but that really didn’t matter because, hey, this is Rain we’re talking about. Right? All that mattered was that Rain had tweeted and his Clouds wanted him to do it again. And being loyal Clouds, we were all willing to wait faithfully until he did.
Of course, every Rain “event” always deserves a good Twitter Trending event. So, one was quickly set up and promoted far and wide. The hashtag would be #30sexy, and the event would begin two hours before the mystery hour and would continue until…well…until.
Incredibly, by the end of the two-hour event, #30sexy was trending worldwide. Yay!
THEN Rain tweeted again:
Yes, yes. I KNOW it’s the same photo as the feature photo of this post, but I didn’t think you would mind looking at it again, right? I didn’t think so. 😛
But wait. What did he say? Showtime…at 3:00 PM? What the heck? He’s going to tweet again? In three hours? Good grief, what a tease. 🙂
Did the additional wait phase anyone? Absolutely not. Yes, in spite of the fact that bedtime had passed for many Clouds around the world, we still fought off the sandman to wait patiently for 3:00 PM KST to arrive. (or 1:00 AM EST. Yawn.)
It was a really good idea that we did stick around though, because if we had been asleep, we would have missed two more tweets, which included the two equally yummy photos below:
Finally, no more guessing. At 11:59 AM KST tomorrow, Rain will be releasing the first teaser for his album release. Is it necessary for me to say that we simply can’t wait?
I didn’t think so. 😛

Rain Talks About His Roller Coaster Life
Rain′s life has definitely been a roller coaster — and no one is more aware of it than Rain himself.
December 26’s broadcast of Mnet’s Rain Effect showed Rain performing at his Tokyo concert, which was a huge success.
But after the concert, Rain got in his car and learned that bad news about him had been published, and widely spread, and fell silent as he read through the articles.
Inviting all staff and production team members for a dinner after his concert in Japan has ended successfully, Rain talked about his life saying, “My life is like a roller coaster. There’s always ups and downs. A lot of things have happened to me, but I think I should experience many things.”
“The moment I thought I was a cool guy, things got twisted,” continued Rain. “But I don’t think it’s not fair. Or even if I think it’s not fair, I’ve decided not to show it. I’ve decided to take what life throws at me and hope that one day truth will reveal itself.”
“I can’t always be praised for what I do. If you go up, you come down too. I used to think ‘what am I doing here’ but now I accept criticisms if they’re supported with good reasons but if it’s just criticisms without any reasons, I just let it go,” confessed Rain.
“I work harder for the people who like and support me,” concluded Rain. “The public is like my parents, who gave birth to me, gave me a way to live and to live by the name of ‘Rain.’ They have the right to criticize me and to love me. If people turn the TV on, because they like me or hate me, that gives me a catharsis. I appreciate the fact that they watched me until the end.”

Rain Shows Special Love for His Pet on ‘Rain Effect’
Rain just keeps on showing more and more sides to himself on Mnet’s Rain Effect.
December 26’s broadcast of Rain Effect will show Rain making his way home after finishing his tour in Japan.
Even though he was exhausted, Rain took his time to take care of his dogs, cleaning after their mess all around the house.
The episode will also feature the filming site of Hollywood movie The Prince, showing Rain working hard to memorize his lines in English and monitoring his action scenes.
Check out the episode airing on December 26 at 11 pm (KST).

KpopStarz 12/27/2013 —
[Excerpt]
“Rain Effect” is another wildly popular episode, with international superstar Rain being the focus of the show. Mnet airs “Rain Effect” on Thursday nights at 11PM. It reveals the human side of Rain, that is, the fans are able to see Jung Ji Hoon (Rain’s given name) the Korean man who is striving to be the best, much like everyone else in every facet of life…
One thing that many fans expressed surprise about was the fact that Rain does not like to work out. Even though he has one of the best bodies even among Hollywood superstars, Rain confessed that it is a drag for him to do such workouts. The only reason he keeps it up is so that he can be ready for any role that may come his way. In this way and many others, Rain is able to reach out to his fans as a person and not a world-class superstar…

4th Update
Well, Clouds. I’m terribly sorry to have to bring you this update.
Currently, there is no place to purchase Rain’s Rain Effect album online here in the U.S.A. The album was up on U.S. iTunes through sometime yesterday, and then it was suddenly taken down. We have no idea why. We’ve asked the powers-that-be in Korea. We’ll let you know what they say, but please be patient as everything is chaos with Rain’s TV appearances right now.
Also, Soribada’s English site still says that they can’t offer Rain Effect right now because all of the details of their contract negotiations with the copyright holder hadn’t been worked out. We will keep checking on that though.
You can still buy the physical album online, at the sites listed below.
Terri :-}
3rd UpdatePlease do NOT use PayPal to purchase your album from any source online. PayPal indicates that the normal payment processing time is 3 to 5 days. However, some sellers have indicated that it can take significantly longer than that for payments to process.
If you purchase your album now using PayPal, it is highly likely that your album sale will NOT get reported to the Korean music charts during the initial sales period that is critical to Rain’s release. That is because companies selling the albums can’t report their sales to the charts until the sale is actually COMPLETED.
Clouds we are learning as we go here. This is the first time we have been intimately involved in the charting process. So, please bear with us.
Thank you.
Terri :-}
2nd UpdateClouds there is a rumor going around that YesAsia does not report to both the Hanteo and/or the Gaon charts in Korea. I found a FAQ page on YesAsia that indicated that they DO report to both charts, but just in case that was incorrect information, I e-mailed their CEO and asked. I received the following reply today:
That being said, there are also Clouds indicating that YesAsia is known for separating the albums they sell from the “free poster” that fans usually get in Korea with albums and that they are selling them separately for an additional charge.
I don’t know if Rain’s new album will come with a new poster. I have pre-ordered some albums from Kpopmart.com and those did not appear to come with a poster either. I have sent another e-mail to YesAsia asking them if they do this and if so, why. I will let you know what they say whenever I receive a reply from them.
I’m being persistent regarding these rumors about YesAsia, because Cloud USA has been an affiliate partner with YesAsia and YesStyle for quite some time. If Clouds are having trouble with them, we really need to know and rethink our position with them.
Thank you for your patience and for working so hard to support Rain with his new album release. Your efforts are greatly appreciated, Clouds. ♥
Terri :-}
Lovely Clouds,
If you’re anything like me, you have been anxiously awaiting the release of Rain’s 6th Album, “Rain Effect,” for quite some time now. The good news is that the wait is finally over. The bad news is…well…there actually is no bad news. I just wanted to see if you were paying attention. 😛
First, I need to make one extremely important announcement. Cloud USA will NOT be placing a bulk order for our members via The Cloud after all. Stephe and I have decided not to do this after lengthy discussion with each other and with supporters of The Cloud for the following reasons:
The main reason The Cloud was offering a bulk-order option to global fans (that’s us) in the first place was so that the albums we purchased would be counted in Rain’s official numbers during his comeback in South Korea. Since we actually have access to websites where our numbers are going count anyway, none of us can think of a good reason to stress out everyone and complicate Rain’s comeback with overseas bulk orders. So, we have made the decision not to participate in that effort.
Instead, we are going to give you some advice on how you can order Rain’s new album in a way that will actually help Rain. After all, you do want your purchases to count in Rain’s official numbers and help him comeback with a bang, don’t you? I know I do. But first, let me tell you a bit about how all of this of this works, so that you’ll understand better what you are going to be doing—and why. (Please bear with me. This is going to be a LONG post…)
Please note: If you would still like to order an album directly from The Cloud, please visit the Cloud. There is a post somewhere there about how to do that. If you have any questions about ordering your album from The Cloud, please contact Heidi (huhuhuhu), one of The Cloud’s overseas fan coordinators, at raincloudworld@gmail.com.
How music comebacks work in South Korea:
Cloud cover by: Michele, Staff Writer
It is an undisputed fact that Rain loves food. If we weren’t sure, we certainly got confirmation during the first episode of his reality show, The Rain Effect where food was basically a part of the supporting cast! I LOVE that he loves food, seems to think about it often, and goes to great lengths to find something delicious to satisfy his palate.
This love of cuisine translates perfectly to the various commercial films he has made throughout the early part of his career that endorsed some kind of food or beverage product. He always seems so delighted to promote food!
Kyochon Chicken is one of the largest Korean fried chicken chain restaurants in South Korea and even has locations in the US. This must be some serious chicken. ^.^
And for Rain’s part in the endorsement, I am truly amused by the dichotomy of the two commercial films he made for Kyochon Chicken.
In the first I would like to share, he appears all chill and relaxed, walking through the neighborhood, box of chicken in tow. His swag and presence is giving the ladies cause to pause because, well…he’s Rain. He’s hot and he obviously has dinner. That’s a win-win any way you look at it, right? His easy gait and occasional dance moves indicate he is feeling good.
And, he’s looking good, right? Yes, he wears red quite well and obviously that box of chicken is a potent accessory by the reaction he gets as he makes his way to his destination. Oh but I do LOVE the way this man swags it up! ♥
In the second CF, there seems to be a situation at play and our hungry World Star is making his way hurriedly home.
He is transfixed and must know that at the end of the line, a meal awaits! He is scaling buildings, leaping through the air, startling bathing beauties and eventually lands on his sofa where he is at last united with his Kyochon chicken meal.
At last, all is right with the world!
There are not too many out there that can rock the adorable factor like Rain can. He does it so effortlessly because it is no doubt a part of who he truly is. And, it is always a delight to watch him be interviewed talking about his CF experiences. Yes, it is not subbed….but still, it’s Rain. ^.^

Yonhap News 12/24/2013 —
SEOUL, Dec. 24 (Yonhap) — K-pop star Rain has been cleared of suspicions that he violated the military code of conduct during his mandatory service, the singer’s agency said Tuesday.
The 31-year-old singer, whose real name is Jung Ji-hoon, has been investigated by prosecutors over allegations that he spent too many days off duty before being discharged in July.
The Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office probing the case dismissed charges against Rain on Dec. 12, CUBE Entertainment said in a press release.
All able-bodied South Korean men are required to serve about two years in the armed forces.
Rain spent 21 months as an “entertainment soldier” as part of a special unit designated by the defense ministry as an agency for promotion.
The now-defunct entertainment unit had employed actors, singers and other entertainers to provide TV and radio programming geared toward military audiences before it was abolished amid rising criticism over the special treatment the entertainer soldiers received.
Rain is one of the most popular male celebrities in South Korea and a well-known star in other Asian countries, and has appeared in several TV series and films.

Rain Acquitted of Military Violations
From the Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office, Rain received a notice saying he has been acquitted from violations made during his military service.
On December 24, Cube DC stated, “In December, Rain was investigated by the prosecution after being accused of committing military criminal acts by a citizen. On this issue, the prosecution recently cleared Rain from suspicions of military law violations.”
At the end of November, the issue was transferred over from the police, who held the opinion Rain should be acquitted, to the prosecution, who began the investigation. The prosecution concluded the case saying Rain will be acquitted.
Meanwhile, Rain recently returned to Korea after filming the Hollywood movie The Prince. He is currently preparing his January 6 comeback.

VOTE once a day for Rain in MWave’s poll for Star of the Week for the first week of January.
(Everything that he’s accomplished in the last week or so—finishing up his new album and music videos, finishing up his filming in the States for new Hollywood movie The Prince, and launching his new reality TV show “Rain Effect”—says he certainly deserves that title.) And then take a gander at MWave’s entire list of active polls and pick your favorites! Exactly when this poll will close isn’t clear, but hey, just keep going back until it shuts down.
Happy voting. 🙂

StarNews 12/22/2013 —
Rain came back from the US yesterday. He’ll concentrate on his singing career
Singer Rain (his real name, Jung Ji-hoon) has been back home in Korea after completing a new hollywood film titled “The Prince”.
According to his agency CubeDC on the 22nd, Rain who left for Atlanta to shoot the movie last week, arrived in Seoul at around 5:15pm on December 21 landing at Incheon International Airport. It is his second visit to the US, aimed to film “The Prince” since his first visit earlier this month.
Prior to this, Rain worked with the movie’s leading actor ‘Bruce Willis’ on the 30th of last month, staying in LA, Atlanta, etc. Reportedly, this time he got set to team with other famous actors.
‘The Prince’ is Rain’s first new hollywood film since he starred in Ninja Assassin in 2009. He gets set to team with Bruce Willis, John Cusack, etc. In the film, Rain plays the role of cool-headed and intrepid ‘Mark’.
An official with his agency told Star News today, “Rain’s whole schedule for filming has been finished. There aren’t many scenes where he appears in the movie and he is combining both movie shooting and preparation for his new album. Because of these circumstances, he accomplished his work on the film in short bursts.”
Again Rain has been set to work on his new album due out next January 6 since he was back in Korea after finishing shooting the movie.
After three years and nine months of releasing his album ‘Back To The Basic’ in April, 2010, Rain will be back with his new album next January 6. His song ‘Busan Woman’ published at his last concert in 2011 before his enlistment was just an event song for his fans.
Participating in almost every aspect of his new album, Rain has finished shooting a music video for the title track from the album and recording most of the songs including the title track from it.
The official added, “Rain has been working intensively soon after his homecoming, giving himself up to the preparation for the album. Under ordinary conditions, he’ll only be absorbed in rehearsing for his comeback to the domestic stage.”
Meanwhile, Rain has opened the preparation process for his comeback to the stage in Mnet’s reality show ‘Rain Effect’ series since its first episode aired on December 19th.

(See, it won’t just be a matter of the ordering, it will also include packaging every single album up and shipping them separately to you, and a good bit of accounting for monies.)

Rain decided to throw a surprise birthday party for one of the members in his dance team on Rain Effect.
While filming December 19’s broadcast of Mnet’s Rain Effect, Rain was seen having a meeting with his dance team when all of a sudden he yelled, “Your dance isn′t like how it used to be. We don’t have great team work anymore,” and left the room, shocking many around him.
But the incident turned out to be a part of the hidden camera prepared for a surprise birthday party Rain had planned for one of his dance team members.
Later on, Rain hugged the team member and celebrated his birthday with a cake and wine.
In the same episode, Rain was also seen buying a winter coat for his stylist of ten years as a birthday present, when he visited a shop to pick out clothes for his comeback in January.
Rain Effect will air the first episode on December 19.

Rain arrives at his house, says hello to little General (Janggoonie) and his other dog, a giant poodle. After shooing Jangoonie out (probably to do his “business”), Rain tells the poodle to sit for a treat (앉아! / an-ja!) and when that doesn’t work, sits on the dog and shows how it’s done. And gives it a treat. LOL! ^@@^
He changes clothes behind a door (the only way to avoid the cameras in the house) and has lunch with his personal assistant. After that, it’s on to the airport to leave for Japan (time to ZEPP!), and on the way he stops and gets his hair “did.”
When he arrives at the new Hilton Fukuoka Sea Hawk hotel in Japan, the first thing he does is LEAP on to the bed a la JiWoo in The Fugitive: Plan B, LOL! Then he takes a gander at all the cameras. When it’s time to have a “serious” meeting with his Fabulous Crew, whatever it is he’s saying gets NO response from them whatsoever (particularly Gori), and Rain leaves the room in a snit after throwing down his water bottle. When the crew follows him, we see the real deal — everyone falls out in laughter as it was only a birthday prank being played on Gori (Big K). Food and drink all around! Good acting, JiHoon! ^@@^
{*Edited to Add: Because of this article at enewsWorld, now we know that Rain was “complaining” to the team about their dancing and how they didn’t work well together as a team anymore in order to prank Gori. Poor birthday guy! Aw!^^)
On a tour of popular tourist mall Canal City, Rain indulges in the things most near and dear to his heart—food, and shoes. He eats and shops like a mad man (and he has a bit of a cold). ^@@^
On the plane to ZEPP Osaka, he reads an article about himself on one of his peep’s cell phones.
There is a lot of on stage and backstage ZEPP interspersed in the show! One scene has Rain on the floor in his dressing room, recovering from that night’s ZEPP. ^@@^
The Fabulous Ones and their glorious leader jet over to Hong Kong for the 2013 MAMA. On the plane, it’s time for going over choreography, and sleeping. Except for Rain, of course—while others are resting, he’s got his ear buds in, still going over things. That’s our world star workaholic! ^@@^
When he arrives for his 2013 MAMA rehearsal, he looks road-weary but nothing stops him from taking care of business, and you still see a spark of excitement in him.
The night of the 2013 MAMA… When Rain is out of hair and makeup and is fully dressed except for his pink blazer, he pays a visit to good friend Lee Hyori backstage!
Aaaaaand… that’s where we leave off until Episode 2 next week. Total broadcast time, 54 minutes (and not one interruption for a commercial ad. Now we see why they played them all at the very beginning. Great job, Mnet!) I feel blessed to have been able to watch this episode live. If Mnet America comes through with English subs, that will be gravy on the potatoes!

I suppose, in a way, that that’s good news, as it might mean there were so many views that Mnet took notice. Which means big points for Rain. I’m hoping that’s the case, anyway. Hm… Thanks for your info, Patrice. ^@@^}

ORIGINAL POST
I was reading posts over on Rain’s Little Cloud, the wonderful team of ladies who bring us Rain news and Cloud news translated in multiple languages (English, Spanish, Indonesian, Romanian, Turkish, French, etc.), and team member Bi Arashi’s post about the “Rain Effect” premiere hit on something we should all be doing constantly.
Why? Because no matter what, the purpose uppermost in all of our minds should be rewarding Rain for his hard work. Always.
She’s absolutely right.
The way that Clouds and Rain fans can best show the world and the Powers That Be that “Rain is back!” is to put our voices and numbers where it counts for him the most—through his sponsors, who are watching his numbers. This is especially important when that sponsor makes an effort to give us that chance, something that not all sponsors bother to do. So, no matter where else you watch Rain’s new reality TV show, make absolutely sure that you view it at one of the official Mnet sites, where your viewership will count “on paper” and make a buzz for Rain.
We are grateful beyond words to the fans who have provided other ways to watch the show because, let’s face it, Clouds and Rain fans outside of Asia have had a hard row to hoe in past years when it came to seeing Rain projects, and still do today, so it’s always great to have backup and a “Plan B.” 🙂 (And, for some fans, these uploads are the only option.) Just bear in mind that if you want more new Rain projects on television, on the radio, and on the Internet going forward, the way to ensure that is through his sponsors NOW.
Put your time where your mouth is, for Rain! If anyone should “pay” the man for his efforts and want him to succeed, it’s his fans.
