As you recall, last year Lotte Duty Free got Rain and nearly all of our favorite K-hunks together for their cute and snazzy new commercial spot, “So I’m loving you.”
Recently, more maleness has been added (JaeChuSu, or JYJ) and the project re-released (thanks, allkpop, for the tip!). So enjoy revisiting just how much Lotte’s still lovin’ us with Rain, Big Bang, and the rest of all that fineness.
They sure know how to get a woman into a shopping mall.

REALITY: FIFA World Cup 2010
Netherlands 2 — Denmark 0
Japan 1 — Cameroon 0

On the Asian front, Japan has started off the tournament in the black—congrats to them. Tomorrow, North Korea’s first match is against Brazil. Brazil is one of the very best teams on a soccer field, so Korea DPR had better be ready.

[*ETA 3:19 pm Tuesday: Today’s match-up is Argentina (Los Fabulosos Cadillacs) versus Australia (AC/DC, Wolfmother). Heheheh.]
Who, oh who, will be going head to head today (Tuesday) on the MTV Newsroom Blog? You don’t want to miss going to the goal for Rain and South Korea, so keep your eyes on that page until you see who’s up. We’ll keep a check on it as well. Tah for now, Clouds.

While Rain and his buds were huddled around the Big Screen at his place, US fans, Korean fans, and others come together in Seoul Plaza and in front of COEX Mall for the S. Korea/Greece match-up. What spirit! I do believe that is captain Park Ji-Sung (of the SK Telecom CFs with Rain) on that building in the background. Can you imagine American spectators cleaning up after themselves after an event over here? That in itself would be some kind of miracle. (credit: arirangnews)
Remember back in mid-March 2010, when Rain’s most recent Nature Republic commercial spot was filmed in the beautiful forests of Jeju (Cheju) Island and released? Enjoy this footage of the making of the White Therapy CF. The CF itself is over on our Commercial Spots page HERE. Money Today’s Star News has quoted Rain (on the SBS TV show Good Morning, on June 14th Korea time) as saying:
“I’m not likely to make my God Luck wish for 10 years because I’ve won such a great award. The award brought my late mother’s face to my mind. I’ll try harder from now on, so have your eyes on me.”
Before actually winning the 2010 MTV Movie Award for Biggest Badass Star at Gibson Amphitheater in Universal City, California, he had been an absolute bundle of nerves, but on the Good Morning program, Rain wore a glowing smile. He is the first person from Korea to win such an award.
(Thanks to rain bird and Rain Europe for this information.)
For the life of me, I cannot find anything in Korean culture about a “God Luck” wish. Is that the equivalent of good luck? Or is it simply an inference to a sentiment we have in the States, where if you just grant me this one thing, God, I won’t ask for anything else (for a long time)? That kind of thing?
Inquiring minds want to know.

Okay yes, I think adorable KiKwang’s voice flows like buttah and he ain’t half bad to look at (for real), but seeing as this is Cloud USA, the only way he gets on this WebBlog is in connection to our Ji-Hoon, right?
The last time we saw him, » he blew past Rain at a comeback stage recording without seeing the man, and about broke his own neck turning back around to properly greet him (so cute). Now, what is this BEASTly Boy doing? Channeling Rain (and Chris Brown) in his dance moves. On purpose. On television. Rather NAUGHTILY. KiKwang! ROFL!
Comedian Myung-Su (Happy Together) is such an instigator. Shame on you, man, putting him up to that. LOL!

Arirang TV revisits that evening at Hanyang University back on May 15 in this quick news clip. » And you can revisit the videos and images in our previous post on the Love charity show HERE. If that was the case at one time, it appears to have fallen through.
Asian source Star News is reporting that Jackie’s promotional schedule in Europe for his newly released movie The Karate Kid conflicts with filming for Rain’s upcoming show, 도망자 (romanization: Domanja, which literally means “runaway” or “fugitive”). So Jackie working with Rain on the spy drama, planned for an October release, is a no-go.
(Thanks to rain bird and Rain Europe for this information.)
What a shame, if this was true. I could easily envision an exciting, adventurous romp of a drama with those two barreling through it. Couldn’t you?

REALITY: FIFA World Cup 2010
S. Korea 2 — Greece 0
USA 1 — England 1 (tie)
Argentina 1 — Nigeria 0
Team captain Park Ji-Sung (of the “Again, Korea!” CFs with Rain) scored S. Korea’s second goal, which came in the second half of play in the match against Greece. The US and England gave rather lackluster performances during their match, and I’m not sure why. Lots of simple errors and missed opportunities—and Yellow Cards were collected like kindling. Ah, well. It happens. The good news is that both the US and South Korea have started off in the black. *cheers and whistles*

Asian news source Sports Josun reported yesterday that Rain invited his friends and dance Crew over to his place to watch the South Korea/Greece face-off. After the game, he is quoted as saying, ” Our team beating Poland 2-0 in a 2002 qualifying match comes vividly to mind again. This game, as that one did, had me very excited.”
He gave Team Han-Guk high praise for their performance, spoke of how the team so excelled in offense and defense that he had enjoyed the game with no worry, and then flashed a thumbs-up.
From Josun article: “This 2010 World Cup, like in 2002, has truly excited me.”

It’s Raining.
Asia broadcast 6/12. The continuation from last week—getting to the lovin’. OR The Case of the Wobbly Bed. OR Han Ye-Seul and Rain’s mic stand are interchangeable (which was pretty brilliant, by the way).
How terribly unromantic, having every camera and every person in the studio gaping while you’re trying to be intimate with someone. But WOW—Rain and Ye-Seul took it like professionals and were thoroughly convincing in turning it on and off, weren’t they? Which could not have been easy at all. Especially for him. If you know what I mean. Ahem.
Very cool how, in post production, they kept the glare that the camera picked up, very reminiscent of flashbacks and fantasy sequences. And then… it was time to squeeze onto that skinny modern chair together. And then it was bedtime! But look at how close the crew was—bummer! Talk about putting a damper on things. Oh well, all in a day’s work.
We got our first commercial spot with this episode, Clouds (at least the first one that we’ve seen), the announcement of Rain’s Summer Love Tour making a stop at Saitama Super Arena after he’s done ZEPPing. Enjoy! 😉

I love the quick footage from L.A. here. And I can’t help but crack up seeing that woman cam him right in the face at Incheon again. That took a special kind of guts. Even he had to laugh! Best Kiss with Scarlett Johansson next year, eh, Rain? Well, go for it then. 😉 — Stephe ^@@^

This entire movie is simply delightful and a personal favorite. I’m so glad Ji-Hoon did it and put his own spin on Park Il-Sun, a character about as far away from mega-icon Rain as you can get. What a challenge, and a fine addition to his résumé. Here is my favorite section of the movie, English-subbed (well, in addition to That Mega-Kiss, that is). Enjoy!

Il-Sun definitely had issues, but he was a lot more sane than people thought. And smart enough to save the woman he loved (Young-Goon) from starving herself to death by playing her own game. Brilliant. (courtesy of funkydragonetc @YT)
[fan account] Team Cloud: Experience in L.A. from…
•June 12, 2010 • 4 Comments… member Amber Rain.
Amber, you did just fine. End of story. No more couldas and wouldas and shouldas. When it’s your first time and you’re testing the waters, it’s always smartest to hang back when your instincts tell you to, rather than bulldozing ahead and possibly making a spectacle of yourself. You were also “flying blind” so to speak, what with the lack of information from J.Tune concerning Rain’s plans. So please stop second-guessing yourself. That goes for you and Kongsao and other Clouds who were there but didn’t make it outside. A few fans were able to get his autograph at the Amphitheater—very cool, good for Adette @rain-USA! And you got a good glimpse of him! If Rain didn’t know a group was there to see him at the airport, surely he knows that now and it makes him feel good.
Rain will be back on US soil—make no mistake. And when he is, you’ll be a lot more comfortable and prepared. We all will, and the experience will probably be epic! (If Terri is involved, you can believe there won’t be a hitch! Hahaha) For now, we must put this all behind, look ahead to the future and stay the course. We must stay true to ourselves, to Rain, and to the Cloud way. You did your best, and that is good enough for us. It is only when you don’t do your best, either by yourself or by other fans, that karma comes back around when you least expect it to bite you in the ass. If you know what I mean.
