Well, look what’s on Global KBS Media…

… lots of need-to-know info about Runaway Plan B! (Interesting… when dealing with English-speaking audiences, they call it Fugitive Plan B. Not that we really care at all, not when it comes to hopefully being able to watch the drama.)

As far as we can tell, Global KBS Media works with television stations and producers and such, and provides rights and permissions to get KBS programs on the air around the world. My heavens! We can only hope that, with Runaway Plan B being offered up on a silver platter like this, English-based broadcasters are sending in requests.

Twenty episodes at 1 hour and 10 minutes each.

Wednesday and Thursday nights… that’s roughly eight episodes a month… two and a half month’s worth of Ji-Woo total, through mid-December. Have I got that right? My mind is going 90 miles an hour right now.

SYNOPSIS:

“The Fugitive: Plan B” is a story about happenings after a hefty sum of money reappears in 2010, 60 years after it disappeared during the Korean War. Rain takes the part of Gi-woo who gets involved in a mysterious murder case, and Lee Na-young plays the part of Ji-ni. Lee Jeong-jin is cast in the role of Do-soo, an investigator at the Foreign Affair Investigation Department, who chases them.

“The Fugitive: Plan B” is a highly anticipated blockbuster with its cast from Korea, Japan, and China and pursuing [chase ^@@^] scenes which will take place in various Asian cities. It is a romantic comedy action different from any other TV drama.

Gi-woo (mid or late twenties, a detective):
As the self-claimed best detective in the world, he can speak perfect dialect of any city in the world and is “a moving search engine” who knows about the culture and custom of the city. Several years ago, an Asian couple was found dead at a casino in Las Vegas, and he received a hefty sum of money from the casino after he found out [through detective work ^@@^] that they killed themselves. After that, he becomes a star among private detectives. The case gives him the fame of a capable detective, but he meets Ji-ni and gets involved in a tremendous case because of that.

Ji-ni (mid or late twenties, a leader of the TF Team under the prime minister):
She becomes to doubt about a series of incidents happened in her family since she learned that she was adopted after her parents died in an accident. One day, her foster parents are found dead at a casino in Las Vegas, and she becomes more suspicious about the incidents and finds out all the incidents are related to gold bars which disappeared during the Korean War.
After a few years, she goes to Gi-woo, who concluded her foster parents’ death as suicide, and requests to find someone named Melgidec. While hiding the truth from Gi-woo, she gets closer to the true nature of the incident, and at the same time she feels that she is gradually fascinated by Gi-Woo.

There were people who pocketed the gold bars during the Korean War, and Ji-ni’s grandfather tried to expose their true colors. Also, there were other people who tried to bury the truth using Melgidec.
Gi-ni almost became their last victim, and the detective, Gi-woo got involved in a tremendous case without knowing anything. Now their last battle unfolds!

Would Rain, who is always so careful about what he says in the press and who would never carelessly insult anyone in print, really rate the food in the Philippines as “decent”? I think not.

GMANews 9/11/2010 — Philippine Entertainment Portal: K-Pop superstar Rain caps off Manila visit with Intensity concert tonight

Korean pop superstar Rain—whose real name is Jung Ji-Hoon—will be performing tonight, September 11, in front of his Filipino and Philippine-based Korean fans at the SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds in Pasay City.

The one-night concert dubbed Intensity will be the highlight of Rain’s extended Manila stay, which saw the 28-year-old singer-actor shuttling from Cebu to various locations in Metro Manila to shoot scenes for his upcoming Korean action-drama series titled The Fugitive.

Local television network TV5 will reportedly air the program here in the country under the title Runaway.

In the series, Rain will be portraying a private investigator named Ji Woo. The cast and crew of the show travelled to Seoul, Japan, Macau, Hong Kong and the Philippines to film various scenes, making the program one of the most ambitious series in Korean television…

…Rain’s popularity outside his home country makes him arguably the biggest export of the Korean pop music industry….

[ETA English translation] RAINY DAY Season 2, episode 32.

Asia broadcast 9/11. Continuation from last week, preparing for ZEPP Tokyo… and we pick up as “Don’t Stop” is being rehearsed. How utterly cool is that, visually…? It has always been one of my favorite stages, the floating-neon-on-black number. Wow. (Try not to ogle the skin-tight fluorescent body suits, if that’s possible. 😉 )

Then we go on to “My Girl/My Woman”… right before Rain becomes a fan cammer himself and practices getting the shot. After all, turnabout is fair play, y’all. Heh.

It’s all about detail, detail, detail. And obviously someone was taking really good notes as Rain spelled everything out because, for the most part, the ZEPP Hall shows did go off without a lot of major snags. The self-cam portion was a great idea and one that will endear fans to him forever.

A teddy bear serenade, for a lucky female! Awww…! And briefly on to “Love Is.”

This week’s episode ends as Rain gets deeply “In My Bed.” Gah, heart breaker! Enjoy, everyone. 🙂

MANILA, Philippines – “Since this is my first time to perform in the Philippines, you can expect anything,” South Korean R&B phenomenon and superstar Rain told Manila reporters last Thursday when asked what Filipino fans can expect from his one-night concert tonight dubbed “Intensity” with Korean boy band group U-Kiss and special guest Christian Bautista.

It is around 11:30 am on Saturday the 11th in Manila right now (11:30 pm Friday night here in Atlanta). We heard that Rain might have filmed some Runaway for a couple of hours in the morning at Greenbelt 5 in Makati City.

» Greenbelt Shopping Mall is a massive, award-winning, five-section complex (2 indoor buildings, 3 outdoor shopping centers) filled with everything from appliance stores to high-end boutiques. Greenbelt 5, the newest section, was added on to Greenbelts 1, 2, 3, and 4 in 2007.

Sports Josun is reporting in their pages today that the final name for Rain’s new drama has been decided.

As you know, it’s been called 도망자 (Do-mang-ja/Runaway/Fugitive) for all of these many weeks. However, the revised title 도망자 Plan B (Runaway Plan B) was used on the air for the first time a few days ago, on September 8.

A production official is quoted as saying, “Plan B next to the word ‘Runaway’ means someone takes an alternative course when he or she fails at the original plan, Plan A… So Plan B can mean the revised plan.”

Yes, that is a well known phrase here in the States, always have a Plan B… and so we figured that that would be a huge part of the plot—Ji-Woo’s original scheme going south, resulting in him having to pull a workable Plan B out of thin air. Constantly.

And Jin-Yi too…! Looks like she’s going to find herself in more than one spot of trouble, doesn’t it?

도망자 Plan B will begin airing on KBS 2 in South Korea at 9:55 pm, on Wednesday, September 29th. There is still no concrete word on when we’ll be able to watch it here. Please stay tuned.

It was 11:00 AM when I received a text message from a fellow Cloud saying that Rain and the cast of S1 Plan B will be shooting a scene in one of our hometown’s most popular landmark. I was inside the campus then. I felt incredibly thrilled and surprised. I never expected that the producers would choose my Kawit Cavite to be one of the filming sites and best of all, it was only a few kilometers away from our house.

My heart began to rejoice as I thought of having the chance to see Rain 3 days earlier than I expected, but unfortunately, our guidance counselor wouldn’t just let me out of the campus. Disappointed, I tried thinking of ways to escape. When I realized that escaping will only bring me to the principal’s office for cutting classes, I gave up and called my mom instead. When my mom picked up the receiver, I spoke so fast without even letting her say hi. I asked her to go to the location quickly to see what she can see and take pictures of him if possible. Completely aware of my obsession to Rain and being a fan of Full House herself, mom agreed keenly and even asked one of my cousins to accompany her. She also assured me that she would tell me all
the details when I get home.

When my mom and my cousin arrived, they were surprised to see a huge number of people cheering for Rain, they were not aware that Rain was that well-known in our hometown. They scanned the place and eventually saw the person they were looking for. At first my mom thought that Rain was only
having a motorcade to promote the drama since she saw him smiling and waving ceaselessly from inside a vehicle, then she saw the staff setting up the
location for filming.

Eager to feed my hunger for stories, my mom and my cousin went closer to have a better look. According to them, Rain’s eyes and face were so small. His skin was tanned and his hair was slightly brown in colour. I personally liked my cousin’s remark about Rain being 10 times better-looking than a certain famous Taiwanese artist she had seen before.^^ Although not that much of a fan as me, my mom thought Rain was an ample illustration of a perfect man—tall, dark and handsome.

They wanted to grab a few pics, but I guess it wasn’t allowed since Rain’s manager (not sure if he was really the manager) didn’t want them to.

Here’s another one!

The location for filming was only a few walks away from the school where my best friend studies. When the news about Rain reached the school, students and teachers instantly made their way outside the campus and stopped all their businesses just to catch a glimpse of him. The cast were about to film a new scene when a great number of people “barged” into the location.

My best friend’s description about Rain’s physical appearance is almost the same with that of my mom’s. However, she thought Rain was not that lively and did not show much smile at that moment. She said he looked exhausted and a bit bothered. Perhaps he lost his focus to what he was contemplating about because of the commotion caused by the crowd.

Some of my best friend’s schoolmates begged Rain’s manager (still not sure if they were pertaining to the real manager) to let them have a picture with him, the die-hard ones even knelt and pleaded, but unfortunately, they didn’t stand a chance. It took a few minutes for the security to settle the commotion. When everything was back to normal, the crowd stood in an orderly manner and watched the filming.

Rain was very serious and focused. He didn’t face the fans’ location that much. My best friend said that there were times when they wanted
to scream, like the time when they saw Rain collapse on the floor (part of
acting) and most especially when they saw him took off his shirt!

I’m so disappointed that I wasn’t able to see Rain today! Still, I feel honored and thankful that the producers chose my hometown to be one of the sites for filming. There’s one thing I’ve proven from my loved ones’ fan accounts—Rain is really absorbed in portraying his role and perfecting his craft when the lights and cameras focus on him. Perhaps it’s one of the reasons why some people who didn’t know much about him misunderstood and thought that he was snob and all… but I don’t care! All I know is, even though I didn’t get
the chance to see him today, I will be able to enjoy his breathtaking performances in his concert this coming Saturday ^^

Please help us Filipino Clouds pray for a successful concert and an immensely enjoyable time with our dear baby—RAIN.

Allkpop 9/9/2010 — Rain & JYP Entertainment found “Not Guilty”

Rain and his former agency, JYP Entertainment, were found ‘not guilty’ on the 9th regarding a compensation claim launched by Well Made Star M.

The Department of Justice read out the sentence, stating,

“The responsibilities of the cancellation of the North American performances lies with Star M. JYP Entertainment and Rain do not have to refund the pre-payments. This applies not only for the North American performances; Star M will be held responsible for the China cancellations as well, since Star M was the side that planned the entire tour.”

In 2006 and 2007, Rain planned a world tour with Star M, totaling 35 different performances. However, due to problems arising from his name ‘Rain,’ his performances in America were canceled, concluding the tour with only 19 fulfilled performances.

Star M claimed that both JYP Entertainment and Rain did not fulfill their contractual obligations and launched a compensation claim for approximately $3,915,018 USD.

The court of first instance stated, “The reason behind the cancellations of the American performances is because Star M did not properly handle the infringement dispute,” and ruled against the plaintiff.

[Cloud USA Project] We want Rain & MBLAQ on iTunes!

Hello, Lovely Clouds,

Clouds are always asking us for sources from which they might be able to buy Rain “stuff.” With the help of other Cloud USA members, we can usually find it for them. But the one thing we have not be able to find is a place from which to download .mp3 files of Rain’s or MBLAQ’s music legally. We can’t even purchase their music from iTunes, which is really weird, considering iTunes has an entire K-Pop page that lists over 240 K-Pop artists. But nope. No Rain or MBLAQ. Wow.

If you’re like us and you’d like to see iTunes stock Rain and MBLAQ songs, like they do so many other K-Pop artists, then please go to the iTunes Store feedback page and submit a request that Rain and MBLAQ songs/albums be made available for purchase on iTunes.

Maybe if everyone out there who would like to support Rain and MBLAQ by actually buying their songs would request their music, then maybe someday we just might see their names listed on that K-Pop page. And wouldn’t that be nice?

Project 도망자 (Runaway): Rain and World Clouds—One World, One Love, organized by lovely Cloud huhuhuhu, is a world-wide charitable, fund-raising initiative designed to:

Bring some sunshine to Jung Ji-Hoon’s (Rain’s) and to others’ lives by making a charitable donation to a worthy cause
Congratulate Rain on his comeback to the TV screen with 도망자 (Runaway) Plan B
Counter recent negative news reports by showing the world that Clouds everywhere care about each other and are united in their love and support of Rain

The proceeds of this fundraiser will be donated to Good Neighbors, International (GNI), to support the work they are doing with regard to child abuse prevention and child support and community services.

Founded in 1991, GNI is a non-profit, non-governmental, international, humanitarian and development organization located in Seoul, Korea. GNI provides a holistic ministry and assists people with every facet of their need. Much of their effort is spent in helping disadvantaged youth become self-reliant, and they offer assistance to anyone in need, regardless of their race, nationality, religion, ideology, or geographical constraints. In 1996, GNI became the first international non-governmental organization to receive General Consultative Status, the highest status level, with the United Nations’ Economic and Social Council. The One World, One Love project team has contacted GNI, and they are delighted to be working with us. A percentage of the monies received for One World, One Love will be donated directly to GNI, to use as they see fit. This percentage will be determined once all of the project proceeds are counted. The rest of the monies donated will be used to purchase nutrition supplements, which also will be donated to GNI, for use in special programs. The One World, One Love project team has consulted with doctors to recommend suitable supplements and has contacted reputable manufacturers who are willing to offer the supplements to One World, One Love at a wholesale or a good discounted price.

Although it would have been preferable for this to have been an official project of The Cloud, the organizational changes going on there and the quick timing of this project have made such a scenario impossible. However, The Cloud’s Cloud Master is aware of this project and there is no conflict with it.

Not a happy camper.

Hmm. This is one of our speculation pieces, my dears. So hang tight.

A little birdie in the know (and believe me, if I wasn’t certain she was in the know, I wouldn’t be composing this post) has come forward with information about Rain’s schedule in the Philippines through the end of September. And what do I see on it?

That Ji-Hoon was scheduled to be off on September 6th.

And what else? Let’s see… the Runaway trailer showing on the 9th, Philippines press conference also on the 9th, the Intensity show on the 11th, Runaway trailer on the 16th…

Hold on, back up. Presscon on the 9th?

Wow. I mean, how utterly snobbish to not show up at an event you weren’t even scheduled for. That’s pretty Badass. (Is my sarcasm thick enough? Do I need to add more?)

Dramabeans 9/8/2010 —

Here, we go, the preview video for Runaway! And true to the drama’s title, there’s a lot of running in it.

The drama is described as a romantic-comedy action project, which could have skewed hokey if done too slapstick. But on the contrary, it looks pretty slick, actually. Lots of action and — with this writer-director pair (of Chuno, as well as Level 7 Civil Servant‘s writer) — probably a lot of stylish cinematography and fast pacing.

(Do we now have to change the title to Plan B, per the trailer? I’ve gotten so used to thinking of it as Runaway… By the way, for those of you wondering why I’ve stuck with Runaway instead of Fugitive — as both titles are in use equally — it was a deliberate choice because the Korean word can mean either, but “fugitive” has the added connotation of criminality. As far as I know, Rain isn’t a criminal, but he IS on the run. Plus, the drama website uses the word “run.” Just for those who were curious.)
