[Cloud USA] Correction: You CAN run an entertainment business on one star, but IT’S NOT SMART, J.Tune.
So, we’d like to ask you something. Why haven’t you invested in other artists, as Rain suggested? Why did you insist on his being the company’s only breadwinner, leaving the whole load resting completely on his shoulders?
Rain is only ONE PERSON. Even with him working 365/24/7 (and it is an easily proven fact that he always has…), voluntarily living with no amenities during movie filming, voluntarily taking pay cuts, and voluntarily using his own money to travel and fund numerous company initiatives, somehow it is never enough. And of course it wouldn’t be, because anyone with any business acumen at all would know that you cannot successfully grow a company, particularly an entertainment company on one artist’s back—or at least you can’t without serious repercussions.
Another thing. Why are you not promoting Rain properly here in the United States? We’re all sitting over here waiting for the chance to buy up Rain merchandise the second it hits our shores and yet we have to scramble around for scant opportunities to purchase anything. We can’t even find his songs on I-Tunes! What is that about?
And what is the Media’s problem, exactly? What’s up with you guys? We see that huge glass of Rain Hater-ade you’ve been drinking from for years, and frankly, we just don’t get it. Shareholders hate to lose profits. They fight for every penny, and these are hard times in the entertainment business. There is always infighting between management and shareholders when it comes to payouts. That is NOT a scandal. It’s simply business AS USUAL. Investing is a major risk. No one who invests money is ever promised a dime of profit. Ever. Losses happen and companies fail all the time. So, anyone who can’t stand the heat should get out of the frying pan.
Nothing Rain said in his interview with Money Today was “shady” or appeared to be “an attempt to pass blame.” The problem is you’ve gotten so used to using your own term “Rain’s company” that you’ve completely lost sight of reality. Rain is not J.Tune’s CEO. He’s not even J.Tune management and never has been, another easily proven fact. And anyone who owns stock in anything has the right to sell that stock within the rules of the game, which is something that happens every single day of the week.
Sure, Rain gets paid big bucks, but no one seems to be mentioning the fact that he SPENDS big bucks too. He’s responsible for feeding a huge staff and their families, his own family, even his friends. He also patrons charity after charity. You seem to be so hung up on what Rain’s got coming in, and yet you say nothing about how much he has going OUT. You say nothing about the huge profits J.Tune has raked in because Rain is out there pounding the pavement every single day—alone.
This man works really hard, all the time. He never stops, because everything hinges on him. Yet all you can do is take pleasure in any misfortune that comes his way. In the past, his name and reputation have been intentionally sullied by people looking for a quick buck, which any kid playing detective could have easily figured out, and yet you didn’t even care.
Every human being on this planet has made mistakes, Rain included, and everyone has the right to learn from those mistakes and correct them without being vilified. Frankly, as hard as Rain works, we think he might be better off being a production worker or digging ditches for a living. At least then he would be able to rest on weekends, show off his talents at local clubs, walk down the street unmolested, publicly have a girlfriend, read the daily newspapers without fear, and enjoy a somewhat normal life.
Just answer this one question: How do any of you sleep at night?

“S’up shawty, where you at?”
•September 7, 2010 • 6 CommentsCloud USA member Dianne (haleydd of Virginia) asked me the other day if we’d ever done a post about Atlanta’s tie to Rain’s Back To The Basic song “One.” (Shawty, only one, one, one, ni sumkyeor hanado nohjil su obso [니 숨결 하나도 놓질 수 없어]… Shawty is the South’s way of saying shorty, and it originated in our city.)
And I honestly couldn’t remember if we had or not.
I thought that, as excited as we were back during the Back To The Basic comeback stages about the Atlanta and New York ball caps, surely we did say something… Oh well. Just in case we didn’t, here are a few entries from the Urban Dictionary to get you acquainted with the term.
Later, shawties. 🙂
