SBS drama “The President” leads Weds and Thurs

SBS drama “The President” continued to remain the leader of Wednesdays and Thursdays prime time series though its ratings remained almost unchanged from last week.

According to data released by Total National Multimedia Statistic (TNmS) on Friday, the average viewership rating for “The President” was 24.35 percent, the figure the same from last week.

A survey by another media research company AGB Nielson Media Research meanwhile showed an average mark of 26.2 percent, about a one percent drop from the previous week’s score of 27.5 percent.

“The President,” that portrays the world of politics through eyes of a woman who later becomes the first female president of the country, has been the top Wednesday and Thursday prime time drama for six weeks straight now.

The average rating for KBS2’s “Fugitive: Plan B” also remained almost same from last week, posting a score of 13.1 percent this week, according to the findings of TNmS, which is about a 0.7 percent drop from last week.

AGB presented a 12.75 percent rating for the drama which is a slight improvement from last week’s 12.4 percent.

“Fugitive: Plan B” is about a detective and his female client’s journey across Asia to find the truth about the death of their loved ones and the mystery surrounding hidden gold pursued by gangs.

Trailing behind its two competitors was MBC drama “Home Sweet Home” whose average rating stood at 6.2 percent on TNms’ chart and 7.8 percent on AGB’s survey. The mystery melodrama revolves around the conflict between a married couple of 10 years and a woman who may have killed her husband.

Blast from the past #39.

•November 12, 2010 • 6 Comments

Just because I’m feeling like I need a LOT of gratuitous Rain today. 😉

This was from the Lotte Family Concert that took place in October of 2008.  JiHoon was fresh from Ninja Assassin filming in Berlin, still had Raizo’s body, and was SO happy to be back on stage that it showed big time.  Just watch how hard he hits those moves.  Listen to him SIGH with relief. 🙂

We had seen a different fan cam of “Only You” at this concert already (» HERE on the It’s Hot In Here page), from his left side.  This “Only You” is from his right side, and shows a whole other perspective of this HOT (in more ways than one!) performance.  Enjoy!

Enjoy this Rain compilation footage from a joint concert that Rain had with Amuro back in 2004.  Which should be really easy to do, considering the absolutely delightful ways he moves his talented body through both of these videos.

I’m not even going to give the hottest minute markers.  Heck, there are too many of them, so just watch it all.  ALL.  Um.

SBS’s ‘Daemul – Big Thing’, has consistent viewer rating, and stayed as number 1 Wed-Thurs drama, but failed to break 30%.

According to AGB Nilson Media Research, 11th episode of ‘Daemul – Big Thing’, which aired on the10th, recorded 25.9% national viewer rating.

This is still not enough to compare to 28.3%, which is Daemul’s highest rating, and fail to enter the 30s.

On the other hand, other dramas on air at the same time with ‘Daemul – Big Thing’ recorded 12.3% (“The Fugitive Plan B“), and 7.5% (“Home Sweet Home”) each.

Rain and other artists have donated personal items for an MAMA charity auction.

•November 11, 2010 • Leave a Comment

The Mnet Asian Music Awards and Korean online shopping mall and auction site GMarket have come together in a collaborative effort to auction off prized possessions belonging to Rain and other MAMA artists, for charity.

As we understand it, the auction prices all start at 1000 KRW (90 cents U.S.), and items can’t be returned after purchase as this is for charity.  Only one of the donated items is signed, so stars’ autographs will be sent (on paper) along with their item to the winning bidders.

Proceeds for the auction will go to the Korean Committee for UNICEF.

[Cloud USA editorial] Sharks in the water.

•November 9, 2010 • 8 Comments

Okay, let’s get real. He was a young, rising star, about to step out on his own. Everybody was surrounding him, not with love, but with their claws out, ready and waiting to dig in deep.

Even that creepy newspaper (who shall never be named in this blog again) had this to say about that time period in Rain’s life: “At the time, Rain was trying to become independent from JYP. Entertainment companies who were trying to recruit Rain spent lavishly on him in order to work with him.”

Guffaw. Well, of course they did. They would have been stupid not to. I mean, heck, if I’d had money to invest in the kid at the time (if I’d even known about him…), I might have invested it too. (Only I’d likely have been much smarter and invested it in something a little more stable than casino chips. I’m just saying…)

But don’t you see? The problem isn’t that they might have given Rain the money/A.K.A. chips (unless the funds were illegal, which, frankly, is the “giver’s” problem more than it is the receiver’s). It isn’t even that Rain might have gambled it away in some VIP room–where anyone in their right mind knows the stakes are always high. No, sirree. If the situation even happened at all, then the problem was most likely this one: RAIN DIDN’T TAKE THEIR BAIT.

Yep. That would have pissed these guys off royally, and they would have been thinking, How dare he? How dare that boy take our money and then not take our generous offers?

Yeah, RIIIGGGHHHHT.

The bottom line is I don’t believe for a second that Andrew Kim or any of the rest of those sharks loaned Rain any money. Period. Could they have given him chips with which to gamble? Well, of course they could have. But why would they have? Oh, wait. Let me think about that for about a millisecond. Maybe to take advantage of a young, somewhat naive and newly independent pop-star, who wouldn’t have known any better than to take the perks he was being offered from friendly and trusted faces?

That’s right. My take on it is if Rain did happen to find himself in such a situation, it is much more likely that it went down something like this. Sharks: “Hey, buddy! Here ya go….(hands Rain a stack of chips)…Now, go on have yourself a good, good time, okay?” Wink, wink.

And if that was the case? If it had been you who had been handed those chips, what would you have done. Oh, come on. Don’t lie to yourself — or to me either. You know darn well you would’ve thrown a few chips on that table and played a couple of hands. You know you would have. Hell, I know I would have.

And so frakin’ what? Since when has it ever been illegal to gamble in Vegas? I mean really. Did I miss something somewhere? Good grief.

— Terri @cloudusa.wordpress.com :-}

www.cloudusa.org

°          °          °

I’m not lying to myself — that actually happened to me.

The prologue and first two chapters of my fantasy manuscript had won Third Place out of 145 novels in a nationwide contest.  My writers’ group sent me all the way out to the West Coast, to Lake Tahoe, to the huge writer’s conference where my work would be on display and where I would be rubbing elbows with big names in the business.  It was pretty amazing to me, a simple, suburban mom.

And if the magic of suddenly being a success wasn’t enough… there was the massive casino on the first floor of our resort hotel.  I’d only seen casinos on TV, had never been in one before, and it was fascinating.

The close friend who had volunteered to accompany me on the trip and show me the ropes (and who was much more worldly than I was at the time) was a veteran when it came to casinos, and handed me chips one night.  “You can’t visit a casino and not play.  Go on, have some fun!”  And I did.  He also funded my stay at the Blackjack table.  It was great.  So where am I going with this story?

I’ll tell you where.  Not for a moment did it ever occur to me to ask where he got those chips or how he paid for them.  Why?  Because I was with someone I trusted.  And because I was with someone I trusted, there was no reason to ask.

I’m sitting here right now, some years later, and because of the malicious slander that is being done to Rain, I’m realizing that I still have no clue how or where my friend got those chips (and I’m thanking my lucky stars that some friends in this world CAN be trusted).

I don’t believe for one second that Rain had the time to camp out in some casino back then.  Hell, he barely had time to go to the bathroom!  But if he did, his only crime would have been trusting the wrong people to do the right thing by him.  And that hardly warrants the media or anyone else garroting Rain and convicting him in the press the way they have, in favor of a man who the very courts have said is acting without merit.

What in the world are you all thinking?  Huh?

Rain and NaYoung selected as TV’s quirkiest couple. :)

•November 9, 2010 • 7 Comments

Korea.com 11/8/2010 —

[Seoul, Korea] Lee Na Young and Rain of The Fugitive Plan.B have been selected as TV’s quirkiest couple.

Yes24 recently did a survey as to which couple on TV was most similar to the pairing of Lim Chang Jung and Eum Ji Won in the recently released movie, Bad Couple. The top ranking in this survey, which was taken from the 18th to the 25th of October, went to Lee Na Young and Rain from the KBS 2TV Wed/Thu series The Fugitive Plan.B.

Lee Na Young and Rain received 49 percent of all votes. Second place went to Park Min Young and Yoo Ah In of the recently concluded KBS Mon/Tue series Sunggyungwan Scandal. Yoo Ah In’s portrayal of the outwardly cold but inwardly caring “Geor-o” Moon Jae Shin, who takes care of Kim Yun Hee (Park Min Young), led to the creation of the new word “Geor-o ari” and stimulated support from female fans. As a reflection of that support, Park Min Young and Yoo Ah In received 22 percent of the votes.

Also, the contstantly bickering cute couples of MBC’s weekend series Gloria (Bae Doo Na and Seo Ji-seok) and Playful Kiss (Kim Hyun Joong and Jeong So Min) each took the thirdt and fourth spots for their respective quirkiness.

Bad Couple, which tells the story of another quirky couple who are more than comparable to the ones on TV, opened on November 4 and has been successful thus far.

[fan cam] Revising: Rain arrives in Taiwan for Legend of Rainism…

•November 9, 2010 • 3 Comments

…at the end of January 2010.

Hm.  Doesn’t look like he has a problem with being touched to us (as has been said by some folks).  Didn’t look like he was worried about the media, either.  Hm.  Imagine that.

More than likely, the times Rain does want privacy and to be “left alone” when he arrives somewhere has to do with the circumstances — where he’s arriving at, what the atmosphere is like, whether or not there IS time to approach anyone, and whether or not he feels physically well.  Which is no crime.  (I mean honestly, who would want to stop and photo-op where you knew people were waiting to shoot flaming arrows at you, as opposed to where you knew you were welcome unconditionally?  Especially if you’re dog-tired?)

Just my buck-fifty.  I call it like I see it.  (Wow, what a crowd!)

Well, that is the name of the Rain song you’re about to hear (from album 4, Rain’s World). Heh. 😛

(And for the Sistas out there… at around minute 3:35, listen for the Temptations “Treat Her Like A Lady” crooning up in there.  Haha!  *delighted*)

Enjoy this wonderful slide show, fans.  Nicely done, parcelita. 🙂
