Rain Becomes an MC for Military Documentary
Rain, who is currently serving out his mandatory military service, has been given his latest assignment- serving as a documentary MC!
Rain will be serving as the MC for an upcoming documentary on Korea’s defense industry. The documentary, titled Defense Report 2012, will air on cable channel TV Chosun. Defense Report 2012 will be taking an in-depth look at major defense industry organizations abroad, examine weapons systems overseas and will also take a look at the status of Korea’s defense industry and suggest the direction it should go from here. Rain will serve as the MC of the documentary while anchor Song Ji Hun will serve as its narrator.
The documentary will be split into three parts and will air its first episode on April 21, its second on April 28 and finally the last part on May 5.

Rain to Demo Army Guns on New TV Chosun Documentary
Singer Rain, who is serving his mandatory military service, will appear in a documentary about the defense industry entitled “Defense Report 2012” on TV Chosun.
He will feature in several scenes at the start and end of the program, which will be divided into three parts and will air on Saturdays at 11 p.m. from this weekend.
“We cast Rain because we thought it would be more effective for the program that an active-duty soldier introduces weapons,” TV Chosun said Wednesday.
The documentary looks into Korea’s weapon systems and how they compare to other countries’. It also investigates ways to develop the nation’s defense industry.

Behold, GREAT footage from when Rain busted out his third album, It’s Raining, in 2004, two years after his debut. And indeed, the showcase was very effective. The album took Asia by storm. There are journalists today who’ve said “It’s Raining” is one of the top K-Pop songs of that decade.
This is also where Rain really started earning his Master of Exhale title. 🙂
His whiskey voice is talking up a storm! And oh, the Swagga. Enjoy!

Girls’ Generation and Big Bang Picked as Most Popular K-Pop Star in First Half of 2012
Girls’ Generation and Big Bang were named the top K-Pop celebrities in the first half of 2012. On April 18, a Korean research agency called Leespiar released results to their recent survey that asked for the most popular Korean celebrity in the first half of 2012.
According to the results, Girls’ Generation came out on top with 26.9% of the total 1,329 votes in the female musician category. Last year’s top vote getter was Park Jung Hyun, following her impressive performances on MBC “I Am a Singer.”
The second most popular female artist was IU with 15.3% of the votes. Her second album, “Last Fantasy,” was a massive hit from late last year, cementing her position as one of the best female solo singers. The Wonder Girls, Lee Hyori, Baek Ji Young, and miss A followed in the rankings.
In the male artist category, Big Bang won 18.1% of the votes, earning the top male singer honor. Lee Seung Gi came in at second with 11.3% of the votes, followed by 2PM, Rain, and 2AM. Shinhwa, who returned with their 10th album last month, was ranked at #10.
Meanwhile, Won Bin beat out Kim Soo Hyun for the most popular actor spot, with 16.3% of the responses. Kim Soo Hyun, despite his growing popularity following the massive success of MBC “The Moon that Embraces the Sun,” barely missed out on the top honor by a mere 0.3% of the votes. Jang Dong Gun, Hyun Bin, Lee Seung Gi, and Kang Dong Won rounded out the rest of the list.
Kim Tae Hee was the #1 actress in the poll. Although she didn’t appear in a lot of Korean TV this year, spending most of her time in Japan, her commercials played a lot in Korea and it may have contributed to her top spot. Next on the list were Han Ga In, Ha Ji Won, Shin Min Ah, and Song Hye Kyo.

This translation brought many thoughts to mind as I read it, so here in a nutshell is what I’m going to lovingly call The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly:
The Good: Sounds more and more like JiHoon has truly found a niche for himself at DEMA. He has a group of friends he easily relates to, a job using his natural talents, and a way to get more knowledge and accomplishments under his belt. It’s only part drudgery—he’s having FUN now. It’s wonderful hearing him comfortable and content, joshing around with his troop mates. They’re all so silly. Heheh. And the episodic stories were pretty interesting!

Are you looking for a unique way to support Rain? Well, now you’ve got one. Just awhile ago, Rainy Entertainment posted a notice on Rain’s official website, asking everyone to participate in a commemorative event for Rain’s upcoming 10th Debut Anniversary.

KCM on his time in the Army
KCM talked about how he and Rain were doing as the newest additions to the Defense Media Agency (DEMA).
Through an interview posted on DEMA’s blog ‘Harmony’ on April 12, KCM said, “We’re really busy. Because DEMA is also part of the army, there’s a lot we have to do. The little chores, from laundry to cleaning and everything else are given to the newest members, so Jung Ji Hoon (Rain) and I are working hard.”
KCM currently hosts the Friends FM shows Morale Train and Freeway. “I’ve tried explaining words on current issues and reporting on KFN TV. It was interesting because it was my first time doing such things. I think it’ll be a big help in society,” he said.
He finished, “The duty of the PR unit in DEMA is to help heighten morale among our soldiers when they’re weary. I’ll work hard to perform and do my best in everything given me.”
KCM quietly entered the army in November 2011, and was promoted to a first class private on April 1. He will be released on July 31, 2013.

Here’s a newsflash for everyone out there who hasn’t yet figured this out about Rain’s nation.
When it comes to voting for Jung JiHoon Rain in online polls:
1. Clouds don’t hack (though there are plenty of people who do). If Rain can’t be declared a winner fair and square, with all voters having the same playing field and following the same rules and using similar methods, then we don’t want it because that’s not a victory. That’s cheating, and we’d rather eat crow than stoop to that because it means we didn’t really do any work and he didn’t really win. Duh.
2. Clouds don’t hack because these things are simply online opinion polls and not the end of the world. Opinion polls do not solve world hunger, dictate policies in the Free World, stop global warming, or affect Rain’s career one way or the other. They are a fun way to pass the time and show how much we believe in Rain’s work ethic, goals, and accomplishments as fans. Who has time to go rooting around for elaborate hacking methods and such? That takes way too much effort and we all have lives to live.
3. Clouds don’t hack because we’ve got elbow grease for days. And days. And DAYS.
4. Clouds don’t hack because it would cast a shadow on Rain. A dumb thing to do when you’re someone’s fan.
5. Clouds don’t hack because when you hack, it basically means that you already know you can’t win and winning means more to you than being fair. We know no such thing. Rain is a BOSS.
Rain has won polls and lost polls, and it’s all good. Like him, we take the good with the bad, and move on. Like him, we think it’s cool when his colleagues have successes too. (Most of us, anyway. LOL!) Makes life spicy and interesting that way. We don’t need to hate on the other celebs or their fans. We can take Rain losing a poll, for pete’s sake. It ain’t gonna kill us.
With that said…
Representing Rain in a poll means we go hard, or we go home. We are all in, with the accelerator all the way to the floor. Point blank period. From the Americas, to Asia, to Europe, Africa and the Middle East and everywhere in between. The same as other celebrity fans. That’s what you’re seeing because that’s what he has earned from us—our very best efforts. I would think folks would be used to it after all these years.
Regardless of the result, Clouds get it in.

P.S.: As easy as it must be to believe our Magic Feet has simply charmed us silly with his smile and rolling abs, there is a lot more to it than that. Part of which is we honestly have found him the BEST at what he does. With good reason. We’re not mindless. (Personally, I haven’t been mindless over anybody since 1984. Trust.)

Rain Named Promotional Ambassador for Military
Singer Rain, who is serving his mandatory military service, was appointed promotional ambassador by the Military Manpower Administration on Tuesday.
An MMA official said, “We hope that his exemplary military service will contribute to encouraging young men to fulfill their own military duty.”
Rain served as an assistant instructor at boot camp after enlisting in the Army in October last year, but in March the private first class was transferred to the promotional post.
Rain will engage in PR activities and attend recruitment festivals for a year.

Terri and I and the amazing Action Movie Freak are hanging out in Asheville, North Carolina, getting our action-on at ActionFest 2012. We just wanted to say hi, and that we are keeping our eye on the Rainiverse when we can, though our media blog posts may be a bit sparse until we get back to Atlanta on Sunday.
I also wanted to let our Facebook followers know that there seems to be a little glitch going on with our Facebook page, in that we’re having a bit of trouble posting there. Game face was ON!
We all deserve a pat on the back, you say? Hell, we deserve a couple of free concerts from Rain and Yunho, that’s what! We didn’t even deign to grace TIME.com with six million votes. LOL!
What a battle, even more so because it was fraught with all kinds of nonsensical stops and starts, improbable hangups that caused massive voting losses on both sides, and the twists and turns and plot points of a world class novel, which by the way was even more improbable. I couldn’t have plotted a better story for the most suspense myself. Team Y surges ahead hundreds of thousands of votes; Team R catches up to bring things back into balance; Team R surges ahead hundreds of thousands of votes; Team Y catches up to bring things back into balance; Team R watches 95% of their votes disappear in a matter of minutes; Team Y surges ahead hundreds of thousands more; oh wait, Team R begins to close the deficit; it’s closing… it’s closing… oh wait, Team Y and Team R votes nearly trickle to a stop at the eleventh hour, with both teams still voting like maniacs from all over the world. Um, yeah. Anyway.
Congratulations to Yunho’s Cassiopeias! We really mean that. You fought hard and you never gave up, even when things looked bleak. It reminded me of our epic battle over on MTV against the Aliens of German band Tokio Hotel for the World Cup of Rock finals, in the summer of 2010. Tokio Hotel’s fans are tough as nails! They took it to the limit and it was utterly amazing when we grabbed the Cup for Rain and South Korea. The coolest thing was that we met new friends and discovered a terrific band—the Kaulitz twins have got it going on. (By the way, HUGE congratulations to TH fans for winning MTV’s Musical March Madness tourney finals against Green Day earlier this month. What a coup!)
Nice going on allkpop, Cloud sisters and Rain fans! Six million votes and two broken polls ain’t chump change. We came so close. I’m pretty proud of us. We get it in. 🙂
