And we are impressed. Let me reiterate. Impressed.

For those of you who haven’t been there lately, run—do not walk—over to Rain’s Official Website and take a look at one awesome, breathtaking reno. And click on everything. Everything (including the English side).

It’s been two years exactly this month since the Back To The Basic mini-album release. Whereas the old website perfectly showcased that stage of his life and was attractive in its own right, Rain’s career and life have moved beyond it now and his “house” was due some fresh paint, furniture, and wallpaper. The new theme represents him wonderfully, especially while he’s fulfilling his military duties and getting ready for his second career decade. Much love to RAINY Entertainment for stepping up to the plate.

RAINY Ent.’s tweets about and official images of Rain’s updated website are HERE, and HERE. And HERE.

We adore all of RAINY’s recent efforts to promote Rain in the way he deserves.

Huge congratulations to Cerine Zen (of the RAIN fanart blog) and Rainist for both having their Rain 10th Anniversary banner contest entries chosen for display on the website homepage. Bravo!

Have great fun with this, fan cams of Rain at the Ting Concert in the fall of 2004. Sounds like the crowd is going to either stampede the stage or go stark raving mad. And no wonder—with JiHoon showing out like he was! He had a whole heap of extra pep in his step, if you know what I mean, and he was playing to fans like a champ. Wow, what a workout.

Star quality. Stage charisma. The confidence of a showman. To find the definition of these phrases, you can either look them up in the dictionary or you can watch these fan cams. Your choice. 🙂

Rain in A Love To Kill coming to KBS World.

•April 26, 2012 • 14 Comments

Written by: Stephe Thornton, Managing Editor ^@@^

KBS World, the KBS TV affiliate that airs on local cable and satellite TV channels all over the world, and here in the U.S. with English subtitled programs, is spreading the word on their Facebook, their Twitter, their website, and on their YouTube Channel. They will begin airing one of Rain’s most memorable series, revenge drama A Love To Kill (2005) co-starring Shin MinAh, in less than two weeks!

As you may recall, “Kang BokGu” was the role that snuck up on us, that showed the incredible range that Rain truly had onscreen and literally made his acting career turn a corner. The tragic K-fighter was a whole other animal that, quite frankly, scared the crap out of you. You never knew what he was going to pull on you next.

And even after he cleaned himself up, his intensity was such that Rain was nowhere to be found. He looked like him, but he didn’t look like him. At all. The depths of Rain’s acting chops runs deep.

The first episode of A Love To Kill will broadcast on KBS World on May 7th. As of this posting, air times for each of the sixteen 70-minute episodes will be Monday through Thursday at 4:20 pm KST. Do check your local TV guides, and keep in mind that this is subject to last minute changes.

Don’t miss it!

Happy Birthday, Terri! Let’s get this party started.

•April 26, 2012 • 55 Comments

Come on in, best chingu!

We’ve all been waiting for you. It’s party time and it’s going to get warm up in here. You ready? Are you sure? Well all right, then.

I can’t think of a better way to put some sizzle in your day than with a nice strong K-cocktail. And nobody makes K-cocktails better than the woman known as juiceehott. Rain and special guests, you have the floor. Make it hot like fire.

(checks Terri’s pulse)

Eh, she’s okay.

Next up, all the way from their practice studio at SME… U-Know and Max taking it to the MAXimum. This should completely explain why Cassies voted so hard on allkpop, yo. *whew* *wiping sweat and taking names*

(checks to see if Terri is still breathing)

(handheld mirror fogs up)

Okay! And now, the piece de resistance and one of the most jaw-dropping, nosebleed-inducing examples of fan service during a concert that I have ever seen, here’s Rain and his Golden Zipper with “I Still Love You.” If you will, take it away, JiHoon.

(calls the paramedics—no, it would be quicker to just douse her with a bucket of cold water)

Hey, open your eyes, chingu. Here’s a towel for you to dry off… There you go. You okay? How many fingers am I holding up? Wake up dear. You’ve got to be awake so that I can tell you how very much you mean to me.

Terri, I love you dearly. We’ve known each other for eighteen years, and you’re the best friend a gal could want. Even when we don’t see eye to eye, my days are brighter because you’re walking the same earth as I am. I never knew what it was like to have someone who would watch my back no matter what, someone who would make it her mission to make me laugh no matter what, until I met you.

Thanks for being there for me.

Happy Birthday!

Love, Stephe ^@@^

Now, see? I told him not to drink your chocolate milk before you got here. Bad soldier. Bad soldier! 😛

[update] Rain a Dream Celebrity Wedding groom on Polyvore.

Cloud cover by: Stephe, Managing Editor ^@@^

I couldn’t resist taking another peek yesterday at the Dream Celebrity Wedding fashion contest going on over at Polyvore. And what did I find? That while just about every fantasy celebrity groom you can imagine in the Americas and Europe were covered, there’s also a little more Asian love going on over there as well in the 500 additional collages that have been added since Tuesday.

Tuesday was when I ran across a fashion set for Rain and at least two sets for Lee Minho. Yesterday, I spotted another collage for Rain…

(Credit: garlic_vo @polyvore)

And one for each of these stars:

» Jaejoong of JYJ

» Japanese actor and singer Suzuki Tatsuhisa

» U.S. TV actor Ki Hong Lee

The fashion mavens on Polyvore are full of nice surprises, aren’t they? 🙂

From Stephe’s desk: My fantasy Rain playlist for America.

•April 25, 2012 • 48 Comments

Every now and then, I run across a great song or an old favorite that really gives me the tingles, a song that I think Rain could do justice with those talented pipes of his. In ENGLISH. He’s got a special vibe going on that meshes perfectly with the vibes of some of my favorite artists, and the thick R&B bone he was born with would do him well here in the U.S. (something I’m sure he already knows… the man loves him some Soul).

Not only do we know he’s coming here to dive headlong into the next phase of his acting career (after the military), but you can mark my words that he’s never going to stop putting out music. Which means that I very well may be hearing him on my radio one day. In ENGLISH.

And so… when I’m rolling in my Escalade Hyundai and immersed in music, these are the sounds—whether he does an occasional cover or matches the vibe—that I think would have him lighting up our airwaves like a Christmas tree. (JiHoon, are you listening?)

What’s on your fantasy Rain playlist, dear fans? Why?

Do enjoy this long clip out of Japan on an Mnet K-star show that is by women for women, where the highlights of Rain’s amazing career as a singer, actor, model, brand ambassador, and mega-entertainer are deconstructed. Very well done!

Though it’s in Japanese, the subject matter per segment is easy enough to understand. I can’t imagine anyone would have problems following along.

The hostess thinks Rain is so, so cute and called him just that, with a sigh of admiration. かわいい! Kawaī! The Golden Fishery footage where he was talking to HoDong about his mother’s last days still puts a lump in my throat. ♥

This was broadcast back in August of 2011. Get comfy with your favorite beverage and have fun with this, dear fans. Strictly for the Visuals or not, it’s pretty awesome. Thanks to Ratoka for the tip!

비 debuted in Seoul, South Korea ten years ago this week with performances on KM’s Show Music Tank (4/24/2002, first showcase as new singer) and SBS Inkigayo (4/28/2002, first competition on the music charts). The fan posters of congratulations that we saw displayed across the Rainiverse yesterday were precious indeed.^^ Seeing as Rain (verbally) and RAINY Entertainment (in writing) have specified April 28, we’ll be celebrating on that particular day. Though the truth of it is I don’t really think Rain minds either date. The fact that it’s his debut week is the important thing and everyone should treat it as such and celebrate on either of the two dates that they wish. Thumbs up.

Ten years ago this week, it began Raining in earnest and the downpour hasn’t let up.

Happy Anniversary, JiHoon! ^@@^

Fans celebrate Rain’s 10th anniversary with a subway advertisement

A congratulatory plaque was put up in the subway stations, celebrating singer Rain‘s 10th anniversary.

Rain (Jung Ji Hoon) who is currently enlisted in the military, debuted on April 24th, 2002 through a cable channel music program. Afterwards, he released his first formal album ‘Rain‘ to officially kick off his promotions as an artist.

Once he established himself as a singer, Rain also tried his hand at acting in both dramas and films alike. He received praise for his roles in Korean dramas ‘Sang Doo! Let’s Go To School‘ and ‘Full House‘. He was even offered a role in Hollywood project ‘Speed Racer‘ and later starred in ‘Ninja Assassin‘, being labeled a ‘World Star’ by fans all over the world.

To celebrate his ten years in the industry, his fans put up an advertisement on the front of a screen door in a busy subway station in Seoul. “Rain, congratulations on your ten year anniversary,” it read, also written in Japanese for his Japanese fans.

The advertisement will be up for another month, and fans remarked that with the ad, they would be able to “rain down on Rain when he exhausts himself in the military,” and “We hope that he will feel proud after seeing our efforts.”

In related news, Rain enlisted in the military on October 11th of last year, he is scheduled to be discharged around July of 2013.

Rain a Dream Celebrity Wedding groom on fashion community Polyvore.

•April 24, 2012 • Leave a Comment

Cloud cover by: Stephe, Managing Editor ^@@^

There is a contest going on over on Polyvore, the Internet’s largest fashion community. Their vast landscape of members have been » creating and posting dream wedding sets that detail their “big event” from the celebrity groom to the shoes. We don’t know what the prize is, if any, but this sure looks like some serious fun!

A Rain/Nature Republic collage is featured in Polyvore’s post, and why not? He’s the ultimate dream groom if there ever was one, isn’t he? Bravo. We certainly approve. 🙂 Thanks for the tip on this, Pinkfashionninja!

This from Polyvore’s About Page:

Polyvore is the web’s largest fashion community site, where users are empowered to discover their style and set trends around the world. With over 15 million monthly unique visitors, Polyvore’s global community has created over 44 million sets that are shared across the web. Headquartered in Silicon Valley, Polyvore is funded by Benchmark Capital, Matrix Partners, DAG Ventures, Goldman Sachs, and Vivi Nevo (NV Investments).

» You can read more about Polyvore here, in this 2011 article.

You can take a gander at the top wedding fashion items and the celebrity groom with the most views, the most likes, and the most comments. Brad Pitt and Harry Styles are all over the place. I even spotted one for Lee Minho! And another one for Minho is HERE. 🙂

The feature collage with Rain appears to have been fashioned by Polyvore themselves. I ran across an actual Rain groom set by member Zulle. There are over 2000 entries in this particular contest, so this might not be the only one referencing Rain. If it is, it’s a beautiful one. Nice and classy.

There are two days left in the contest. Let us know if any of you fashion mavens out there give it a go, okay?

Nicely done, Polyvore.

SONG OF THE WEEK: “Do You Love Me or My Fame? (Naega Yumyeonghaejini Johni / 내가 유명해지니 좋니?) off of Rain’s Vol. 2 album, How To Avoid The Sun (2003). Some of you may associate this song paired in concert with a cool Drunken Fist dance. Some may associate it with a Rainy Day performance » where Rain appeared to have been shot on stage by someone and scared fans half to death (it was only part of the show). We’re going with a live TV performance, when our Magic Feet was velveted down and harlem-shakin’ on the SBS Inkigayo chart show. The dance flow in this thing is Swaggawesome. And, as in our two Pictures of the Week, he insists on showing off that waistline V. Hoookeeedokee.

We were checking Cloud USA site stats recently and, while we do know that our site is more international now than ever before and we wholeheartedly welcome English-speakers from across the world, we were tickled to see all the places Cloud USA has been visited from, to date. We’re really grateful that so many locations have found us because of what this could mean for Rain.

A chain is as strong as its links. Isolated Rain fans finding kindred spirits means a firm, unshakable foundation for 비 to stand on and a louder Voice that will be heard by the Powers That Be.

Where are you across the Rainiverse?

No matter where you are, or whether you’re a media blog reader, forum member, Twitter, YouTube, or Facebook subscriber, or an occasional site visitor for updates, thank you! Please know that we appreciate and celebrate each and every one of you and your support of JiHoon Jung, the amazing South Korean mega-talent known as Rain.

No Rain fan should ever have to be alone out there with no one else to talk to. Let’s keep 비’s nation growing. Fighting!

We’ve noticed lately that in the mad rush out there to share Rain’s TV, radio, or event appearance information among fans, there have been more than a few miscommunications across the Rainiverse. Such as this one, which RAINY Entertainment is attempting to clear up.

The news down the pike is that Rain’s June 2012 schedule has yet to be determined. There are talks going on, but nothing is settled as of yet. There was also a news article about an appearance at a May fashion show, that the ROK Dept. of Defense has since said is completely false. Rain : Loyalty ! This is pfc “Jung Ji Hoon” attached to Defense Agency for Public Information Services.

I think it’s finally time for us to set aside our prejudice and learn to accept the disabled as common people like ourselves.

Don’t you think it will be even cooler if we can live in a world where both able-bodied and disabled people are treated equally?

I hope you will treat the disabled no differently from anyone else.

Everyone, I love you.

5:11~5:15

Rain : If you do wrong, you may get an injection.

Will you get an injection later? Will you do so?

Rain fans in the U.S. and Canada, rejoice!

Earlier this month, online Asian drama haven DramaFever added a fourth Rain K-Drama to its already jam-packed lineup: SangDoo! Let’s Go To School (2003), Rain’s first starring role and the major project that really kicked things off for him in TV land.

Melodrama SangDoo joins action drama The Fugitive: Plan B (2010), romantic comedy Full House (2004), and revenge melodrama A Love To Kill (2005), which were added to the site some time ago. U.S. and Canadian fans, your mission, should you accept it, is not only to enjoy standing in the rain over on DramaFever, but to rate and review these dramas so that the DF folks have feedback and appreciation for their hard work. Let them know how much you enjoy Rain so that they’ll find even more.

How many of Rain’s dramas have you seen, to date? Do you have a stash? Which are your favorites, and why?

Thanks, DramaFever, for the downpour! We are reveling in it and plan to do so for a long time to come.

Rain does voluntary service helping the handicapped (people with Autism).

Word star Rain who is serving in the military took time to make ‘Love’ bread with the handicapped to give them unforgettable memories.

Special visitors showed up at Les Graines, a social enterprise, in which people with autism make bread.

6 PR soldiers including singer Rain came there before a week for the disabled.

They learned about how to treat people with autism and how to make bread before they began to work.

‘Nam Gi Cheol’ (The owner of Les Graines), “If you make bread well, I’ll give you this as a present, but you’ll get a talking-to by our staffs with autism if you’re handless at a task. The staffs have made all the process a breeze.”

[Rain]:  I think it’s finally time for us to set aside our prejudice and learn to accept the disabled as common people like ourselves.

Probably it will be even cooler if we can live in a world where both able-bodied and disabled people are treated equally.

Those PR soldiers also went hiking with the handicapped. (Chengkye Mountain)

Disabled person A : I can see flowers over there. They should be in full bloom.

A soldier : What kind of flower do you like best?

Disabled person A : Forsythias, Azaleas, etc..

1:26~1:55

For 15 years, Grain Angel, an organization of volunteers, has been providing an antidote to isolation while climbing mountains, holding the hands of the handicapped. On the day in particular, 4 PR soldiers took the lead by taking part in volunteer work.

“So I Love You, And I Love You Though”, a special feature on the volunteer activities will be aired on KTV tomorrow evening at 7 with “Park Wan Gyu”, “Park Hyo Shin”, and “KCM” attending.

Some of the best dancing Rain ever did on TV is right here. His body is like a rubber band, and he even snuck some of the Robot in there. Just adorable. ♥ Thanks for reminding us of this, Cloud Unite. 🙂 ^@@^ 050107 KBS 尹道賢的Love Letter Its Raining+I Dofull800X600. (Courtesy of sherryrain1 @YT)
