Rain claims that all girl groups and actresses are now ‘Goddesses’ to him

‘World-Star’ Rain, who is currently in the process of completing his mandatory military service, has recently revealed his affectionate feelings for girl groups.

On June 16th, the singer / actor had an interview before the ‘K-Pop Special Concert‘, which was held at the Yeosu Expo.

When he was asked to compare the differences between before and after entering the military, Rain answered, “Well, I was able to realize that all girl groups and actresses who come on TV are ‘Goddesses’.” For those who aren’t aware, Korean soldiers serving in military have limited access to the web or electronic devices, but can watch music shows together on TV during their free time. Which is why, for obvious reasons, these male soldiers go crazy about girl groups.

Later on when he was asked, “If you were to serve in the military again, who would you bring along?“, Rain hilariously responded, “Who do you think? Of course with a woman. Do you think I would come back here with a guy? I would want to bring my friends, but if I were to really serve in the military again, I would definitely bring a female no matter what.”

In related news, the ‘K-Pop Special Concert’ at the Yeosu Expo will feature Rain, Park Hyo Shin, and KCM, who are all serving in the military, as well as Nine Muses.

After Rain blew the roof off with his appearance at the K-Pop Festival at the 2012 EXPO Yeosu Korea yesterday (the 16th), the official Expo Twitter sent him a gracious thank you.

From what I can tell, looks like the tweet is from the little girl plankton mascot Suni (수니)—how cute!—and the gist of her tweet is that the K-Pop concert was quite powerful and Rain’s performance absolutely awesome. She wishes him a healthy time in the military going forward, and hopes he is discharged safely. “Hooyah!!”

Rain to perform at Yeosu EXPO

Expo Pop Festival Kicks off with Rain’s Concert

South Korean pop sensation Rain is set to perform on a mega stage for the first time in 10 months since he started military service.

Rain, the South Korean pop star, opens “Expo Pop Festival” that kicks off on June 16 at the Expo site.

The Expo Pop Festival, hosted by the Organizing Committee for Expo 2012 Yeosu Korea, stages a series of a mega concerts every night, featuring famous K-pop stars at the Expo special stage that can seat around 20,000 audiences.

Rain began 22 months of military service in October last year, bidding farewell to tearful fans. Since then, he has been involved in diverse promotional events and performances for the Korean military, but most of performances were far from quenching fans’ thirst for his spectacular concerts.

On the Expo Pop Festival stage, Rain will show off what he’s got as a “world star.” Rain checked on everything from lighting to sound to deliver a perfect show. He is also going to sing duet with a Korean ballad singer Park Hyo-shin.

Visitors will get caught up in the sheer excitement with Rain’s concert which will be set against the beautiful sea lit with fantastic lights coming from a large cruise ship and the Expo site.

The opening performance of the Expo Pop Festival will be staged on June 16, at 8:30 pm at the Expo special stage. The concert is free for Expo visitors, and will be followed by a famous Korean singer Kim Jang-hoon on 17th and a popular rock band “YB band” on 18th.

In this Korean Forces Network TV program about rediscovering the Army, Rain and his fellow soldiers honor their military dead by continuing the inscription process on their tombstones in the Deceased Patriots City Park and National Cemetery in Seoul. Very nice. (I could almost swear I saw actor Yoo Gun in this thing, but I’m just not sure. He enlisted in the Army a bit over a year ago. He did an amazing job in the drama “Hello, God!”.)

Rain’s big brother Ronnie Yang has tied the knot!

Holy Toledo, everybody! Ronnie Yang is off the market! 😀

As you all know, Rain and Ronnie (CEO of CABA Entertainment) have been like real blood brothers for years and years, and have visited the U.S.A. together many times (New York for the 2011 TIME 100 Gala and several projects, Los Angeles for various projects, etc.). CABA has also partnered with CJ E & M and produced several of Rain’s and MBLAQ’s concert tours.

What we like about Ron is that whenever he does share pictures and things about Rain, he always gives us good stuff. He was the one who forked over that cool video of Rain driving on the L.A. freeway, remember? 🙂

What I DON’T know:

Exactly how Rain fits into the wedding equation. Don’t know.

It seems that Ronnie and his wife got married back on May 25 in Thailand, and popular CABA Entertainment client BEAST/B2ST sang at that wedding (images on Ron’s Twitter and other Twitters out there can attest to that). Looks like Rain may not have been there for that ceremony, due to this image of him sending a congratulatory wedding message on May 25 (which, at the time it was posted on websites, said nothing about Ronnie at all, wow, just “Rain congrats message”… Really, folks?), and also due to the fact that he had a Family Month concert on the 24th and his radio show on the 26th and had no real time to travel.

Rain and Yang have treated each other as each as brothers. They belonged to JYP Entertainment 10 years ago. Yang was working in overseas business and marketing there, but he has organized the performances of Beast, Mblaq, United Cube, etc. since he quit and started up his new company.

Rain has been accompanied by Yang on each occasion abroad. Yang, born and raised in Canada, has advised Rain on what to do and interpreted for him.

It is known that Rain was willing to emcee at the wedding, and he detailed the circumstance and got permission from the military to go out.

According to the two’s acquaintance, “Even though they don’t share blood, they are just like brothers.”

Singer ‘Shin Seung Heun’, ‘Kim Tae Woo’, ‘Psy’, ‘Hugack’, etc. sang at the wedding while Rain stood as the host.

Instant confusion, seeing as Ron got married a few weeks ago. Instant confusion, seeing as we know him as Ronnie. (The only Yang SeungWon/양승원 of note that I’ve seen is a South Korean footballer who plays for Daegu. IF Ron’s given name is SeungWon, couldn’t that have been specified in the article? Or better yet, just call him Ronnie, Mr. Reporter? Keep it simple—unless that was a screw-up.)

Perhaps Ronnie and his wife had two ceremonies—one in Bangkok and one in Seoul? People do that sometimes, when they have loved ones abroad. From all the pictures I’ve seen of the June 10 shindig, Rain, MBLAQ, B2ST, and even a few of Rain’s dance crew were in attendance (though the only pictures of Rain so far are the one in the article and a profile shot that’s floating around). So for all intents and purposes, Rain emceed Ronnie’s June 10 wedding shindig (he did mention being off from duty during his radio show last week)…

But I can’t attest to any of what I just said because the above is the only source article thus far, even in Korean, and no one in the media has done any further research or bothered with additional info. *shaking my head*

In any case, we’re pretty doggone delighted for the groom. Be good to your wife and have a very happy life, Ronnie. Cheers! 😀

First Movie Poster for Rain’s Upcoming Movie Out

The first movie poster for Rain’s upcoming movie has been released.

On June 13, the movie poster for Rain’s upcoming movie R2B: Return to Base (formerly Flight: Close to the Sun) was unveiled.

Transforming into a fighter pilot, Rain can be seen in full pilot gear inside his jet and flying over the Seoul metropolitan area. The scene in the movie poster was revealed to be an actual scene that will be seen in the movie.

The thrilling blockbuster included among its staff, aviation experts who were involved in Hollywood movies such as The Dark Knight and Inception, to create a more realistic film.

Though the movie completed shooting last September, due to technical fixes and other issues, the premiere date has been continually delayed but is now set.

The movie also stars Shin Se Kyung, Kim Sung Soo, Jung Seok Wok and tells the story of a group of pilots in the Republic of Korea Air Force 21st Fighter Wing, their dreams, passion and friendship.

R2B: Return to Base will premiere in August.

FYI: The new Korean title is not made of Korean words, but English words that have been adopted into the Korean language. Which means that you say the title almost the same way in both languages. Rain, Kim JH, YB to perform at Yeosu Expo

Top Korean singers and groups will hold concerts at the Yeosu Expo this weekend, the organizing committee said on Tuesday.

Rain, currently serving in the military, will be the first to go on stage on Saturday, followed by rock-ballad singer Kim Jang-hoon on Sunday and YB Band on Monday.

The concerts will be held at 8:30 p.m. on a special stage built for concerts during the expo period.

The special outdoor stage arena is capable of hosting an audience of 20,000.

For Rain, it will be his first big concert in eight months since he joined the Army last October.

According to the expo organizing committee, the singer is personally checking on lighting and sound and doing rehearsals to make it a perfect show. He is also planning a duet with singer Park Hyo-shin, who is also currently serving military duty as well.

“Rain’s concert will be held against the backdrop of fantastic lights coming from a mega cruise liner on the sea and the Expo venue. It will offer the best moment for the audience,” said an official of the organizing committee.

The concerts start at 8:30 p.m. and are free to Yeosu Expo visitors.

It is also said that he might be singing a duet with Park HyoShin. Now THAT is exciting to think about! *happy dance ’cause I love me some PHS* *FYI: For those of you who are Blue 8th Clouds located in Asia, The Cloud is attempting to get fan seating for this show, but so far, the show sponsors don’t like the idea and are opposed to it. Singer Rain’ll perform at the opening of the Yeosu Expo Pop Festival

Many PR soldiers such as world star Rain (PFC Jung Ji Hoon), who is the one leading the Korean wave, Corporal ‘Park Hyo Shin’ who is labeled as the king of ballad, and PFC KCM, etc. will perform at the opening of the Yeosu Expo Pop Festival, at 8:30 on 16 June 2012.

The opening performance will be given on a specially prepared stage on the Expo site, and it’ll attract a capacity crowd of 20,000.

Not only a pumping machine but also a movable stage, which can extend into the audience at 50m in length, will be installed, and fireworks will be the grand finale of the evening’s entertainments soon after the performances.

This performance will be broadcasted live across the country via military TV broadcasts (Sky Life CH533, local CATV, IPTV, etc.) and K-TV.
