Well! R2B: RETURN TO BASE (R2B: 리턴투베이스) is already selling to distribution companies internationally, in anticipation of its release. Several of these distribution companies deal in theatrical distribution (box office), home entertainment (DVD/Blu-ray rental and retail), TV (broadcasters), and digital (downloading/VOD), so it stands to reason that R2B will eventually be available in a variety of mediums over a wide area. (Incidentally, distributor Entertainment One also has subsidiaries in the States. *fingers crossed*)

•June 5, 2012 • 23 CommentsHi, all…! Come huddle around and let’s chew the fat for a minute. 🙂
I’m sure I don’t have to tell you what’s coming up near the end of this month—DJ Roller Jung’s 30th birthday in International years!
In Korean years, he ages up with the new year and turned 31 when 2012 rang in. Remember, when it comes to Korean society, it’s all about how many years you’ve actually seen and experienced, not how many you complete like us. One week after he was born on June 25, 1982, he was considered 1 year old as it was the first year of his life (1 week old internationally). Six months later, New Year’s 1983, that was the second year he existed, so he was considered 2 at that time (6 months old internationally, until his first birthday). Then on New Year’s 1984, he was considered 3 (1 year old internationally, until his second birthday in June). And so on.
Let us review: This past January 1, 2012, JiHoon was 31 in Korean age, 29 in International age. On June 25 this month, JiHoon will still be 31 in Korean age, but 30 in International age. Easy-peasy. (Not really. The math still trips me up every now and then LOL)
» [article] How old is Jung JiHoon? What is Korean age?
What Cloud USA was going to do was have a big blowout of a Cloudburst get-together/birthday party for the ol’ guy here in Atlanta right around his birthday, but with Terri’s recent injury, we’ve had to adjust those plans. (Her knee is severely injured, can bear very little weight, keeps her in pain, and may need surgery to correct.) We’re still going to have a Cloudburst and celebrate JiHoon wholeheartedly, but when will depend on how she fares the next few weeks. FYI: We are shooting for Saturday evening, June 30. Please chime in, those of you who are interested in coming! (If that day doesn’t work for you and you have a better one in mind within a week or so, we will take that into consideration, so speak up.) We look forward to seeing you! 🙂
We’ll do a nice birthday tribute for Rain here on the site, and start mulling over what to do for Christmas, so make sure you get your birthday cards and candy and nonperishable treats mailed off to him ASAP, Clouds and dear fans. Make it rain at DEMA! Haha! (It’s still not prudent to send huge masses of gift stuff to him in the military, especially when The Cloud, Benamoo, and DC Rain Gall will surely do so, unless you send the big stuff to RAINY Entertainment’s office.)
The upcoming Atlanta Super Cell Cloudburst has us pretty excited, y’all. Not only will it be a real pleasure to share good food, birthday cake, and all things Rain, but it’s past time to raffle off some cool goodies that we’ve bought and some that were sent to us by dear friends overseas on Rain’s home turf. Like:
Remember Rain Diaries, from RAINY Entertainment. These 7″ x 5″ hardcover planners are the cutest things ever, go through July 2013, and have plenty of places for all your notes. Terri just had to have one and so did I! It only made sense to grab a couple of extras.
Rain 10th Anniversary Celebration full-page ads, paid for out of the Blue 8th Clouds membership treasury and printed in the Kyunghyang News (Seoul). After having a poll and letting us members choose which out of five mock-ups were our favorite, the Korean Cloud execs submitted the winning choice to the newspaper and were kind enough to help some of us not living in Korea purchase this wonderful piece of Rain history. The ad ran in the April 24 edition, on page 7, and detailed the highlights of his 10-year career to the public. Gorgeous.
RAIN The Best Show Korea Tour goods. Unforeseen things have happened between now and last Christmas to curtail our giveaways a bit… so we still have some awfully cute stuff that was purchased for us at his concert in Seoul. It’s just a matter of deciding which things in this stash to give away and what to keep in the Cloud USA vault…
LOL! We’ve even got VIPS Rain place mats from a VIPS restaurant over in South Korea. I didn’t realize this until yesterday. Goodness. My mind must have been off in another world somewhere the day Terri told me, whenever that was. LMAO!
I’m not even going to get into the posters (Fugitive: Plan B posters that KBS America kindly offered to us, double-sided Nature Republic posters sent from Shanghai, etc… gracious me). And so, depending on how many people come Cloudburstin’, we need to share some of this wealth and have a good ol’ rip-roaring raffle/giveaway. You think? 😀
Well, that’s all for now, peeps. Please don’t forget to get your birthday greetings off to Rain and to send Terri all the good vibes and well wishes you can muster. She can really use them right now.
Tah!

It honestly gets no more special that this, folks. It just doesn’t. Please enjoy this look back to 2002 and what would have been Rain’s first movie and leading role, Fighter of Wind, as showcased in entertainment news and at the movie’s preview press conference.
As we understand it, Rain had no choice but to pull out of the role (based on Japanese manga Karate Baka Ichidai and on real life martial arts master Mas Oyama) in June 2003 because of continued scheduling conflicts with the recording of his second album, Rain2: How To Avoid The Sun (released October 2003). The movie’s budget was nearly as high as R2B: Return To Base, so you could say it was considered a blockbuster at the time. The lead was recast with Yang DongGeun and the movie released as Fighter In The Wind in 2004. I’ve heard nothing but great reviews of DongGeun’s performance from the martial arts community at large, so my hat is definitely off to him.

Heheheh! A very entertaining write-up, Paloma. (including the three full minutes of Rain hip-thrusting, thank you @___@)
Incidentally, Rain wipes drool in “Rainism”, so that’s chest-popping, hip-thrusting, AND drool-wiping. He does it all and he does it well. In the interest of journalism *ahem* let me add to the conversation for a moment. From the “I really wanna touch myself” category… drumroll, please… Clouds automatically know what’s coming… ^@@^
°
SeoulBeats 6/1/2012 — Written by Paloma
The Drool Wiping and Other Essential Steps In K-pop Choreography
Show a K-pop performance to a non-connoisseur and the first thing he or she will notice will most likely be the choreography. The music may not be as original, the lyrics might be unintelligible, but anybody can be amazed by a flashy choreography and five, seven or even thirteen Koreans dancing perfectly synchronized — my friends, as a matter of fact, always beg me to do the “Sorry Sorry” dance when we go clubbing.
So while choreographies never really stop looking cool, at some point you most probably realize that lots of the dance steps are easy to spot in the different choreographies. So without further ado, these are the six dances that you can’t miss in a K-pop choreography.
1. The drool wiping
The drool wiping is probably as old as K-pop; maybe not as a part of the choreography, but every boy group MV has to include a member wiping his drool to camera — it’s just a K-pop unspoken rule. From veterans such as DBSK‘s Junsu in “Mirotic” to youngsters as Teen Top‘s L.Joe in “No More Perfume On You” and Infinite‘s Sunggyu in “Can U Smile”, every idol must learn it. But the drool wiping is an art, and MBLAQ are the pros here. Not only can you see Joon mastering it in MVs like “Cry”, but they actually stepped up by including it in the “Mona Lisa” choreography. Extra points for putting it in the chorus.
2. The crotch grabbing
Not the classiest dance ever, but definitely effective. Infinite is right now displaying a very obvious kind of crotch grabbing in “The Chaser”, just like Teen Top and MBLAQ did before — “No More Perfume On You” and “Mona Lisa” are being of good use for the purpose of this list. But we definitely can’t forget about the most relevant feminine crotch grabbing in K-pop: Rania. The girls basically spend half of the “Dr. Feel Good” MV grabbing their crotches — so yes, they win.
3. The magic fingers
The magic fingers has to be my favorite from the list, mainly because it’s the only one I can perform accurately. Now in the spotlight thanks to Taetiseo‘s “Twinkle”, this step consist basically in, well, moving your fingers in a cute way. You can also find a good example in A pink‘s “I Don’t Know”, where they mix it with the butterfly dance — but mind you, the magic fingers are unmistakable. And just in case you are wondering, yes, boys can also do magic things with their fingers — special mention to Infinite‘s “Nothing’s Over” because they manage to combine the drool wiping with the magic fingers.
4. The “I really wanna touch myself”
Yes, idols are sexy and we know it. They probably know it too, because they definitely like to touch themselves. Ask Yunho and Changmin in “Before U Go,” where their slow down dance, that combines this dance with the crotch grabbing one, made millions of fangirls squeal. It’s hard to reach that level, but U-Kiss is definitely trying with “Dora Dora”. U-Kiss are not strangers to this dance, anyways – they already displayed a variation, the “I really wanna touch you” dance, in “Shut Up”. I would recommend them to keep the “I really wanna touch myself” one instead, because the other one looks just… awkward.
» TBXQ: Before You Go (slow down).
5. The chest popping
This dance admits two variants: the pure chest popping and the chest waving. Probably the most infamous example of the first one is Super Junior‘s Eunhyuk passionate chest popping in “It’s you”. The chest waving has a long tradition, including Rain‘s “Love Song,” MBLAQ’s “Oh Yeah” and, eventually, SISTAR19 with “Ma Boy,” who made the chest waving the key point of their choreography.
6. The hip thrusting
Let me start this introduction with 3 minutes of Rain hip thrusting. And after this break — you can thank me later — the hip thrusting has a pretty graphical name and is basically a must-have in every boy band choreography. Not to be mistaken with the crotch grabbing, the hip thrusting has been mastered by Rain, but can also be found in “Love Ya” by SS501 and “Paradise” by Infinite, for example. And let’s not forget about Junsu’s gratuitous hip thrusts in “Mirotic”. And by gratuitous I definitely don’t mean unwanted.
So these are my top six essential K-pop dances — my motor coordination is limited — but which ones are yours, Seoulmates? Have you ever watched a K-pop MV without any of these dances? If so, please comment below!

*Edited to Add: Yet another hilarious show from Bevis and Butthead. LOL! I had MANY favorite parts that cracked me up badly, but this made me ROFL:
[Rain] : I want to resume my acting career in USA as soon as possible.
[KCM] : You should never leave Korea. I won’t let you go. (laughs)
[Rain] : I’ll report you to the police. (laughs)
[KCM] : Sorry. (laughs)
[Rain] : I have a lot of acquaintances in the police. (laughs)
[KCM] : I lose. (laughs)
By the way, who is listener “Texas Woman”? Chime in and speak up, because your comment got on the show! — Stephe ^@@^

[Rain]: A four-leaf clover means luck in the language of flowers.
[KCM] : A three-leaf clover is a token of happiness, and happiness is always around us, so please tune in to The Desire To Speed!
1:25~3:50
[Rain]: Do you know why a four-leaf clover has four-leaves? It needs more leaves to produce its own food or energy through a lot more processed photosynthesis as it is a shade plant. Likewise, people who are already in difficult circumstances try harder.
