When Korean corporation Daewon Company partnered with Vietnam’s Thu Duc Housing Development Corporation, the Cantavil Premier Apartments were born in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. New, modern, and high-tech, this new development offered a plethora of amenities if you chose to live in one of its exquisitely designed and architecturally harmonious apartments. Complete with a Lotte Modern Cineplex, the Cantavil Premier had it all. And they had one very famous world star to tell you all about it.
Rain just oozes style and class. So he was the perfect spokesperson for a new and classy housing development. He happens to be one architecturally harmonious human who wears a suit like it was born into creation and designed solely for him. See if you can catch that Yves Saint Laurent belt buckle. Hot.
Even as he languidly awakens in his loose-fitting loungewear, he makes it all look good. I have to believe that he definitely has a hand in choosing what he wears in his CFs. Or, he simply has an incredible stylist who just gets it.
I love how he greets the day wearing soft white and then heads out in sleek black. Seriously, he really is ALL THAT. Adding his song I Do to the endorsement lends itself well to the overall classy feel to this CF that is so deliciously topped off with a delicate yet always so very sexy smile.
I would move there in a second provided he was my neighbor, and I have no shame in admitting that I would conveniently be running out of all household essentials on a regular basis just so I could borrow a cup of sugar from this sweet and tasty man.

[Fan cam] We’ve all seen bits and pieces of his journey, but this is one l-o-n-g look at Rain’s complete trip from arriving at the BAZAAR Men Awards 2013 Red Carpet to getting off of it. Well done!

[Clip] So… this has a little bit of everything from that BAZAAR night, but the star of this clip is the infamous Hip Grind. Whew!
[Fan cam] This fan cam of Rain receiving his Asia’s All-Around Entertainer Award is from the opposite side of the stage than the ones I’ve seen so far, and the audio is a lot clearer. So, this time, when the hostess asked him in English the über-complicated question, what did he think was the success behind RAIN, I could hear him cleverly turn the question back on her and ask her what SHE thought it might be. That way, he only had to agree with whatever she said (“You’re a natural!”), not actually answer the question himself, and come out smelling like a rose. Rain, you smart cookie, you! LOL!

Rain honored as top Asian entertainer
Singer Rain was honored as the top Asian entertainer at the 2013 Bazaar Men’s Style People of the Year Awards on Saturday at 751 D-Park in the heart of Beijing’s art district.
Rain was recognized for his role as a multi-talented singer and actor. He walked on the red carpet with leading celebrities, fashion designers, artists, and businessmen. Chinese artists cheered when Rain thanked them in Chinese and English with a big smile.
He returned to Korea on Sunday after the awards ceremony.

By now, you all know that Rain jetted to Beijing this past weekend to not only perform at the 2013 BAZAAR Men Style People of the Year Awards, he was also there—as one of those People of the Year—to receive the award for Asia’s All-Around Entertainer. When you explore synonyms for “all-around”, you get this: consummate, all-inclusive, global, universal, covering completely or broadly, having or exhibiting wide range, large in scope or content, consummate, versatile, and diverse. Yes, I think that just about covers our multi-talented globe-trotting workaholic, don’t you?

This leads us to an introduction to the BAZAAR Men Awards 2013 and what they’re all about: BAZAAR Men (China’s first business fashion men’s magazine, Harper’s BAZAAR is for the ladies) choosing ten business tycoons and ten top fashion-savvy celebrities and bringing them all together (along with Mercedes-Benz) to celebrate business commerce, entertainment, fashion, and art in China.
Pretty impressive, if you ask me. (And even if you don’t.)

Tea is definitely a wildly popular beverage in Asia. Likewise, Rain is a wildly popular entertainer in Asia (and around the world). Ok, that sounds like another winning collaboration for an endorsement! And, what a delight to see a fit and serene Rain, dressed in white, going through his morning workout. Is it me or does he look absolutely sensational in white?
We see him stretching and bending and curling those weights – and then the pièce de résistance: he levitates in a very yogic-inspired pose. Well, that just had me squeeing with fangirl joy. I am a huge fan of yoga so when you throw Rain into that mix, it would pretty much be the equivalent of a narcotic!! Hey, don’t judge. We all have that point where we just go over the edge when it comes to Rain. He caps off the CF by adorably snatching up that bottle of tea. I think you would probably have to tussle with him if you wanted to take that bottle from him! Waaaaaaahhh, stop imagination….STOP!! 🙂
Then, to drive me even crazier, the second CF uses the theme song to The Green Hornet television show from the late 1960’s. I am one of Rain’s more mature fans, therefore I recognize that music because I had a big ole crush on Bruce Lee in his role as Kato on the show, which I watched religiously. And although Rain is not doing anything remotely martial artsy in this CF, it is an interesting foreshadow of what was yet to come in light of his own future roles. Raizo, anyone?
Dressed in a very sharp white suit, and placed against a vivid green backdrop, Rain is spraying down the situation because the creators of this CF must have known (and with good reason) that the mere presence of Rain generates heat!! That is probably not the true intent of the CF, but I like to think he is doing us noonas-on-fire a service by cooling things off with some refreshing tea – even if it is coming straight from a fire hose! ^.^
Any way you look at it, Rain brings his trademark Rain playful cuteness to each of these commercial films. And whether he is wearing a tank top with sweats or crisp white suit, he lights the screen up with his own special charisma, smile and impeccable style.

The BAZAAR MEN micro-blog on weibo was all up in the thick and things, and posted about plenty of Rain. They declared Rain a king of the stage, able to hold a live audience in the palm of his hand with his two songs and hot performance. He practically lit up the stage, they said. Way to go, Rain! ^@@^

The MCM Munich micro-blog in China was on fire today with posts about Rain as he made his way to the luxurious and massive Shin Hong Place and gave their boutique, located in the heart of the exclusive Taiwanese mall, a visit. They were pretty excited about him signing yet another special edition backpack, and were looking forward to seeing him at the Harper’s BAZAAR Men’s Style People of the Year Awards that night.
Wherever Rain goes, it pours. And no one around him seems to care whether or not they have umbrellas on hand. (Do you blame them?) 🙂

RAINY Entertainment has announced on Rain’s official website that he is going to Beijing to participate in the Harper’s BAZAAR Men Style People of the Year Award Ceremony, which will take place on November 2 at 6 PM (China Time). The location is 798 Art Zone (or the Dashanzi Art District).
*NOTE: The correct name of the location is “798” Art Zone, even though when you do a search there are many entries calling it “789”, the same way RAINY has done here.
At this moment, it is 2:56 PM Friday afternoon, November 1 in China, so there is still a little time before Rain should be jetting off to Beijing.

If you were at our show, head bopping along to DJ JinWook’s mix, you may have noticed a few more handsome gentlemen… Scanning the front row, it was impossible not to notice Asia’s biggest pop icon, Jung Ji-Hoon aka Rain, patiently waiting for the show to begin. He also attended our store opening in The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands. Rain is one of our best and oldest friends and he has been an avid fan of MCM for a long time, often seen wearing his Stark backpack. Jung Ji-Hoon is an actor, model, a producer and designer. His musical career includes seven albums, 19 singles and numerous international tours. He began acting in 2003 and won the KBS Best New Actor Award for his role in the drama “Sang Doo! Let’s Go To School”. After starring in “A Love To Kill” he acted in his first Korean film, “I’m a cyborg, but that’s ok”, which won the Alfred Bauer Prize at the Berlin International Film Festival. His latest movie was released in 2012: “R2B: Return to Base”…

I absolutely adore young, baby Bi!!
His very early endorsements just make me feel all warm and fuzzy probably because he exudes such pure energetic innocence. There is something so endearing and honest about him and that is something that is consistently present in all he does. There is no pretense with Rain. What you see is what you get. I admire that about him. That honesty is always present be it in his live stage performances or on the screen, CFs included. I refuse to believe he has it in him to fake the kind of fun he seems to have in these early commercial films!
In this early CF, however, that innocence I was talking about went right out the window. This here is kind of pushing the provocative envelope, if you ask me!! The only thing remotely innocent in this one is Rain’s adorable smile!!
As I was watching this CF for Scalar Chocolate, it all of the sudden became apparent to me that Rain was the living, breathing personification of a chocolate bar. He was the bar of chocolate. This chocolate was not just being relegated to his abs, mind you. No. Rain was the ENTIRE bar being ogled, unwrapped and just about to be bitten into by the lovely audience member mesmerized by his deliciousness!!! Look at what he is wearing!! Is that a cellophane wrapper jacket? O.o
I love it. That jacket goes flying off of him right as she is peeling away the wrapper on that candy bar! There is nothing innocent about that! That is pure, straight-in-your face provocative. Well it stands to reason, I suppose. Chocolate is pretty decadent! There is a part of me that should feel bad about our young and burgeoning world star being objectified and all. I know, I know. But, if someone were to objectify me, I cannot think of a better object I would want to be than a creamy bar of chocolate. Especially one so strategically placed in such close proximity to Rain’s lovely lips! ♥

This is going to be a long one. We had a full 2.5 hours fan meeting packed with games, talks and performances.

Prelude.
The Korean clouds did an excellent job. There were lots of activities to do while clouds lined up to get their tickets.
Photo wall. There were full size statues of our prince for clouds to stand or sit on the chair next to him to take “couple” pictures and imagine him to be our dream man.^^
Quiz boards. It’s a survey on two questions. Clouds made their choices on the answers. Later on at the fan meeting our prince had to answer the questions to see if his choice corresponded to the one chosen by most clouds.
We organized LED and rice garlands and they adorned the entrance of the magnificent Hall of Peace of Kyung Hee University. It’s a beautiful sight.
As clouds collected their tickets, they also got a bracelet for entrance and a personal gift from our prince – his own hand print. At the fan meeting there was a video clip showing how he prepared this – it’s really messy.^^
We also got translating device with 3 language options: English, Chinese and Japanese. This proved to be invaluable as our prince did talk A LOT at the fan meet.^^ He said he seemed to become a chatterbox as he grew older.^^ Thanks to the translating device most of us could have a reasonably good understanding on what our chatterbox prince talked about.
The fan meeting “To You”.
We applauded loudly as the lights dimmed and we saw the silhouette of our prince on stage. The very first song he sang was “To You” and I could not control my tears. The lyrics and his gentle and tender voice just made me very emotional. I only realized after the fan meeting when I had time to look at the event sheet that the name of our fan meet was the Fan Meeting “TO YOU”. He’s so thoughtful and his message was so clear it’s very heart warming.
The MC of the meeting was Yun Jung Su, who worked with our prince back in his debut years. I could not remember all the details and the sequences of the talk. Here were a few highlights:
They shared old memories on our prince’s first concert challenge as well as the episode when our prince lost the ring he inherited from his mother. Then somehow the topic changed. The MC asked our prince what types of underwear he preferred, boxer shorts or tight briefs. Our prince said he liked tight briefs. Hearing this, the MC tried to pull his pants to check what our prince was wearing, and announced jokingly “you aren’t wearing anything inside”. Our prince gave a very shy and cute smile and instinctively changed his relaxed sitting position and pulled his legs together.^^ [ROFL!! 😀 S. ^@@^]
The MC asked our prince to say something to his long awaiting fans. And here started our chatterbox prince. He said all those who were in this room were his loyal fans, many were teenagers who followed him when he debuted and many now got married, and even had kids. He said he felt very relaxed with us as we were like a family.
He then talked about his getting older and was wondering if he should still continue as a dancing singer. He said he attended a wedding party the other day (I believed it’s JYP’s wedding) and met many old friends, whom he knew from his debut days. He remembered well that when he was a junior at TV programmes, he had to bow 90 degrees to his seniors. However when he appeared on TV last time, he was almost the only senior left. Not only did he feel embarrassed, his back was not that well now and he couldn’t imagine having to bow back 90 degrees to all the juniors. He put it in a fun and casual way, but somehow I felt that he’s also preparing his clouds, and I felt kind of sad.
Our prince also mentioned how he had changed. For the past 10 years he almost charged non stop towards goals he set one after another. But now he was more relaxed. He would take time to read, watch movies. He would pause and think and he could take whatever life confronted him with peace of mind. Whether good or bad things happened, he would look into himself to see what he had done right or not enough. He didn’t say explicitly what happened and he didn’t need to. He was the one who should have suffered the most but he was soothing us with his mellow, sincere talk.
Hearing this, my heart was quite heavy with all kinds of emotions so it was a nice break to have a fun packed quiz period. Can’t remember all the questions now and the sequence may be wrong. There were 5 or 6 questions and our prince only got 1 correct. It was truly amusing later to see how our prince got back on us on this guessing game.^^
The first question was to identify the five songs of our prince, which were all blended together in a re-mix. It was really difficult. Our prince tapped to the tune trying hard to figure out but he only got one song right. He clearly hated to lose, and “complained” that we were supposed to have a fan meeting, but instead we gave him too much stress, and he didn’t even sleep last night (having been to and back from Singapore in the past 24 hours) etc.
The next question showed a video clip of our prince’s past performance. He sang some words wrong and he had to guess what they were. It was long time ago so our prince didn’t get it. When he knew the answer he explained that he didn’t sing the wrong words, it was merely bad pronunciation.^^
Then there were two questions about missing lines/words in Ninja Assassin. I was very proud of myself because I watched NA so many times I knew the answers right away. The first scene was Mika trying to free him, and his line should be, Oh Mika I like you more and more. He didn’t get this one right. He explained that this was not the original script, and was changed at the very last minute – which was why he forgot it. And he did get the next quiz right. (When Mika freed him at the very last scene, he said “And I forgive you”). Our prince couldn’t control his pride and his joy when he got this one. Bingo. One right answer so far.
Followed this the screen showed some photos of our prince taken over the years, and he had to put them back in chronological order. I think it’s common knowledge amongst clouds that age never got on our prince and he just looked as young and fresh, then and now. It was no wonder therefore he mixed them all up.^^ OK, prince, the reason was quite explicit why you didn’t get it right.
The last two questions related to the surveys on clouds before the fan meeting.
One was to choose what clouds think of as our prince’s most significant event/achievement. There were 5 or 6 choices. Our prince chose Time 100. The choice of most fans was his World Tour. Our prince explained that to him personally he believed Time 100 was the summation of his achievements , and the MC added probably fans missed his concert too much and they looked forward to his world tour.
The next survey was which part of our prince fans liked best. Amongst the choices were his hip, his voice, his lips. Our prince pondered a bit and then he said the one thing he was really grateful to his parents was that they had given him a good voice. And he liked his own lips too. He said he would choose voice. Hearing this, the MC reminded him that he was supposed to guess what fans liked most, and commented that he thought the body of our prince was the most attractive. Our prince, convinced by this argument, gave up what he had chosen and changed the answer to his hip.
The MC revealed the answer: voice.^^ Our prince then challenged us: didn’t you all say you like my hip before? [Hahahaha! 😛 S. ^@@^]
So for this session his score was only 1. Clearly our prince hated to lose and later on he had his chance to get back on us.^^
The Q&A was followed by our prince’s special stage. He changed his suit and returned to stage dressed in black with his sun glasses on. He performed quite a number of songs but I forgot the sequence.
After he performed a song, he said he’s going to perform a song that represented him, and asked us to guess what song it was. After a few wild guess from the floor, he sneered at us and said now we know how difficult it was to guess. If we couldn’t guess this right how could he guessed the 5 songs which were all mixed up etc. etc.^^ Then he revealed the answer to us: “How to avoid the sun”.
He must have enjoyed this triumph over us that he played it again, asking us to guess the next song. Again we failed. He gave us his faked contemptuous look. He was just so lovely and cute.
And of course his performance was as entertaining as ever:
His shoelace came loose during one performance so he asked for a stop. He told us that he would not allow such mistake to happen at a formal concert, but since we are having a family gathering it’s OK, and asked us to wait while he bent down to tie his shoelace. It went loose a second time after certain performance. This time he just put his leg on one of the monitors to let us watch him tie it. It was a small incident, but the message from our prince was clear and it came out again and again during the fan meeting. The way he talked to us, the feelings he shared with us, the jokes he played with us. He was very relaxed with his clouds, because to him, we are part of a family and we were having a cozy family gathering.
And soon he told us he would be performing the last song. We all shouted no. He said we were spoiled, and he shouldn’t have spoiled us and made it a habit.^^ But he did spoil us once again with an encore song.^^ However I noticed that he touched his back many times during the last performance. I didn’t know whether he was still suffering from back pain or whether he was trying to adjust his microphone system. I prayed it was the latter.
The Cloud prepared a video dedicated to our prince, as he watched it we made the words I ♥ you from the floor with the electric candles distributed to us beforehand. [Awwwwww! So cool! ♥ S. ^@@^]
There were many more other details and our prince really talked quite a lot. But the account is getting too long so I will just end it here.

Has our world star traded in his magic stick for golf clubs?? It seems Rain has decided to embark upon learning the gentlemen’s sport of golf. And, why not? He is, after all, the very definition of ‘gentleman.’ I happen to think golf suits him.
He certainly is toting the right gear.
Rain has eased through his post-military appearances with a zen-like quality. A peaceful calm. A contentment. We have seen this quality in him as he has passed through airports, engaged in public events, and performed. The ebb and flow of his life after the Army seems almost blissful. Golf is quite zen. So, finding him on a golf course on a sunny autumn day is actually rather perfect. And, as these fan accounts suggest, he is every bit the gentleman the sport begs itself to be.

This picture has been making its way around the web and I think it is rather adorable in that it combines what appears to be a popular chef on the job one morning with some Rain. That works! When I saw this, my first thought was….what if Rain was cast in the drama Pasta instead of Lee Sun Kyun?? Well, for starters, he would have been reunited with his Sang Doo co-star, Gong Hyo Jin and that in and of itself would have been rather awesome. I actually think Rain would have probably served up a pretty decent performance in the role as Chef Choi Hyun Wook. Think of Young Jae wielding a spatula yelling at his apprentice chefs. Oh yeah, that would have been fun!!! 🙂
