“Handshake” (악수, Aksoo) is one of Rain’s first songs, and one of his sexiest, most heartbreaking songs to date. His voice has wrapped around and through those notes like honey through a beehive from debut year 2002 all the way to Sonic Bang 2013.
There are many “Handshake” performances out there that have made women across the world wish like hell they were his mic stand. No way can we post them all! But these 6 videos are a pretty fair representation and it’s time to have your say on which one is Rain’s best “Handshake.”
Gossip on the street is he might be getting ready for a world tour this summer, so now’s the time to let him know if you want another handshake, yo!
We’ll be holding the poll open for about a week and then tweeting the results to Rain afterwards. You may vote and comment as many times as you wish, so let’s make this a good discussion. Happy polling!
Soldier Jung JiHoon was five months into his 2-year mandatory Army service and had just participated in the 2012 Seoul Peace Concert in Yongsan, sponsored by the military. It was the first time we’d seen him in a civilian suit in forever, it seemed. His trousers should have been getting hazard pay, yowza! In a later interview, he admitted his shock at having gained a little weight and was horrified at the prospect of his pants giving out on the stage. I don’t think any of us would have minded, just sayin’. 🙂 ^@@^

Rain’s first stop on his Rain The BEST Show Asia tour, in Beijing, was all over the news. Thumbs up! ^@@^

Rain was named MTV Style’s Hot Dude of the Day for the SECOND time that month. Not in Asia — we’re talking MTV in the good ol’ U.S. of A. In Times Square, NYC. Hoonie, don’t hurt ’em, ha! 🙂 ^@@^
We were watching Episode 8 of Season 2 of his Japanese reality TV show RAINY DAY. This episode covered when Rain appeared and sang on a Lotte family show/talk event in early November 2009. His charisma and aDorkableness knew no bounds, Lol~ ❤
He and his Fabulous hyungs (SungTak, Hongshi, Gori, and SooBong, with their sexy backs) were wrasslin’ on the streets of Myeong-dong for charity (the Keep The Promise project) and KBS. Rain was like a cat when it came to kicking college athletes’ butts! He landed on top every time and won all of his matches. The champ was in the house! 🙂
Rain in talks to star in the Hong Sisters’ upcoming drama
It has been reported that singer-actor Rain is in talks to star in an upcoming drama by the Hong Sisters.
On March 22, a drama rep told Ilgan Sports, “Rain is currently thinking over a casting offer for MBC’s new Wednesday-Thursday drama ‘Feeling Good’ (working English title).” This drama was formerly known as “Jejudo Gatsby,” and model-actor Kim Woo Bin recently turned down an offer for a role in it.
If Rain is to accept, he will be acting as the drama’s male lead—a restaurant owner named Baek Gun Woo, and it will be his comeback to the small screen after six months since “My Lovely Girl.”
The actor to take on the main character will have to take cooking lessons prior to filming, as the role calls for the actor to cook first-hand.
“Feeling Good” is a ‘healing’ romance drama set in Jeju Island. It is said that actress Kang Sora is also in talks to star as the female lead. It is expected to begin airing this coming May.
I don’t know about anyone else, but brand spankin’ new Cube Entertainment girl group CLC (CrystaL Clear) are straight-up cuties from their faces to their costuming to their moves and everything else about them. Love these girls. Well done, Cube!
And speaking of their moves, Rain creating key choreography for his debuting juniors’ song “Pepe” is awesome, indeed. Seniors supporting and giving back to the young’uns coming along under them says a lot. It also means these young ladies are tough as nails. Think about it. Having Mr. Legend In His Own Time, hawk-eyed Rain watch you do the dance steps he taught you, over and over again? *nerve-wracking* (Just ask MBLAQ!)
According to the girls, the chorus in particular is where Rain worked his magic, and while you don’t see much of the chorus in the official music video, you do see it in their live televised performances. I also noticed, though, that what little of the chorus dance you do see in the MV (more cutesy) is quite different from the chorus dance on stage (more sexy). Check it out below… the first 8-count is the same, the second 8-count is different. Did Rain do double-duty? 🙂

Rain created the choreography for CLC’s debut title song
Cube’s new girl group, CLC, introduced its choreography.
On March 18, CLC held its debut showcase for first album, First Love, held at the AX-Hall in Kwangjin. There, the girls revealed that Rain choreographed their dance moves.
“The focal point of Pepe is the cuteness. The choreography for the chorus especially was created by Rain sunbaenim. The dance doesn’t come out in the music video. We’ll be showing it on stage, so look out for it.”
CLC is the first girl group from Cube Entertainment since 4minute six years ago. CLC represents crystal clear, hoping to become a bright and shining crystal in the music industry with no changes.
The first mini album will be released on March 19.
What a long, close final battle. A total of 16,600+ votes for these two talented hunks! Good showing, Rain Clouds and Lee MinHo fans! That’s how you represent for your favorites. Nicely, done. ^@@^
…that even though it’s been 6 years since he and legendary soccer player Zinedine Zidane happened to meet in Hong Kong at the grand opening of Swiss timepiece maker IWC Schaffhausen’s flagship store (at the 1881 Heritage Boutique), he still remembers it like it was yesterday.
I’m a soccer babe, so when I saw this picture back in late 2009, I did a double-take. I hadn’t seen Zidane since he got into huge trouble for purposely headbutting an opponent in the chest during a 2006 World Cup match. And the last place I expected to see him was ribbon-cutting at the same event as Rain.
But hey, there isn’t a high-end store in existence that doesn’t call upon the most popular celebrities they can get, to make their mark.
Rain, and Zidane, getting the job done global style. A cool moment to remember. 🙂
My comment was ridiculously LONG, Lol~ You nailed this list and said it plain! Other Rain songs of note, IMHO, are “Props In My Life”, “Because of You”, “The Empty Space”, “Even You”, “Because I Was Too Hot”, “Slowly”, and “Familiar Face.” This Rain playlist gets a thumbs waaaaay up. — Stephe ^@@^

This extensive GQ India writeup is about Gems (pronounced “James”), the biggest pop star in Manipur (a state in India) at present, and the combined effects of “Korean style”, his mother (Ima), political strife, K-Pop, and the king of Hallyu on his singing career. South Korean mega-star Rain is still a strong influence across Asia and always will be.
The entire read is quite interesting, chock full of things I’ve never read before. ^@@^
How armed militants and “Korean style” converged to create space for a new kind of Manipur star
[Excerpts]
I sit down to talk with Gems’ mother, who instructs me to call her Ima, Meitei-lon for “mother.” Her kindness is overwhelming as she comes at me, all warmth and smiles, indifferent to my comprehension. With the aid of a translator, Ima tells me that although she stumbled across her first Korean [drama] by accident – Full House, a romance she watched in 2005 – she’s been hooked ever since. These days, it’s only an invite to a Meitei film premiere that’s likely to get her to watch anything made within India’s borders. Trying to capture what it is about these films that Ima finds so appealing is more difficult than one might expect, but she keeps bringing up Rain, the protagonist of Full House and a multimedia Korean sensation with smash hit films, a television series and seven albums to his name. Finally, Gems’ elder sister, Saroja, interrupts: “She likes all the handsome boys.”
Ima’s help is focused on style and financing, and is the single biggest force behind Gems’ local success. And it isn’t hard to imagine that he’s being refashioned in the image of Ima’s beloved Rain, the Korean superstar whose acting career flourished after he won recognition as a singer. With his fair skin, high cheekbones and a feathered mane – Gems’ is a style not dissimilar from Rain’s look in his 2009 film Ninja Assassin.

***UPDATE: NEW DEADLINE. The votes are still too close to call, according to DramaFever, so on Friday they extended the face-off again to Monday night, March 9, at 6 pm EST, tomorrow evening! Like I said, y’all, this match is EPIC, powerhouse vs. powerhouse. So, get it in! ^@@^
Honestly, I do not know why the universe hasn’t COMPLETELY IMPLODED from the force of such a showdown after 14 weeks of face-off rounds. Rain vs. Lee MinHo. EPIC.
As I understand it, at one point it was 50%/50% thereabouts and just too close to call a winner, so the voting deadline was extended…
This month’s themes are Rain sponsor LAviva Ice Fruit Tea and his new Chinese TV drama “Diamond Lover.” They look better “centered” or “filled”, but please feel free to display them however you like.
Please enjoy. 🙂 ^@@^

I want to ride my bicycle, I want to ride my bike… I want to ride my bicycle, I want to ride it where I like. Heheh~ (Pardon my lyrics, they’re from legendary Freddie Mercury and Queen’s quirky, awesome song, “Bicycle Race.” Rain wants to ride his bicycle. I couldn’t resist.) 🙂 ^@@^
YSL China’s first CF starred model Yoo Gian and was called “The Elevator.” Their second CF has now hit the scene. It’s called “The Lounge” and Rain pursues Yoo Gian and her Dangerous Red lips through a crowded night club until he finally gets her face to face.
What’s going to happen now? (Hint… “The Dance.”)
I like. 🙂 ^@@^

On February 7, while Rain and his “Diamond Lover” cast and production crew were filming in Korea, they were treated to a nice lunch on set by Churro King, as arranged by Rain’s official 9th Cloud Fan Club. Our membership dues paid for the meal, so 9th Cloud sisters all over the world, good job supporting Rain and his work mates on the job! Thank you, Cloud Exec and organizers, for also representing those of us who are not in South Korea and doing it well.
Some of you may recall that Churro King also provided catering services during the making of Rain’s “LA Song” music video in December 2013. Dang, it was freezing then.
A For Love or Money DVD is definitely out there and, so far, I’ve only seen it for sale on online purchase sites like DVDShop, and MianBao which are completely in Chinese. These pics appear to be by a Japanese fan who might have actually gone to China and brought the DVD home as a souvenir. *sigh* Looks like I’m going to have to put out some feelers for this puppy too! ^@@^(Images credit: prikumi @Twitter)
Yes, I want one as badly as y’all! Which is why I’ve sent DMG an inquiry in the hopes of getting our hands on some. They might say yes, or they might say no. Or they might say nothing at all (language barrier, etc.).
Only time will tell. Keep your fingers crossed. ^@@^
