I’m in a great mood.
I’ve always dreamed of attending such an awards ceremony since I started acting and singing, so I think I can enjoy my trip.
00:27~00:33
With or without the award, I’m thinking of enjoying the ceremony.

As I mentioned to wakki, this film totally broadened Rain’s acting range and showed us what he was really capable of. Talk about impressive. And when he yodeled so well, we were astonished. Both the yodel song and The Kiss with Su-Jeong’s character are over on our Bi Amazed! page. As well they should be.
Thank you, Sundance, for feeding us Cyborg! And thanks to wakkitakki for the tip and times.
Allkpop 6/3/2010 — The M! Countdown winning members of MBLAQ recently revealed things that even their fans don’t even know about on Hello TV…
…Thunder confessed that he’d rather work with 2NE1’s CL than his own sister, Sandara Park. He also picked Rain as one of his top choices to work with (smart move). Thunder said, “I wanted to become a singer after seeing Rain. I hear all the time that I look really nice because of my face. It’s not like I can’t look tough. I will achieve everything with a tough mentality like Rain.” ….
Fans waited at LAX yesterday afternoon and evening for quite a while… but no Rain, possibly because of an exit snafu (you couldn’t see the VIP exit from the regular one). Well, even though we are sure it was disappointing, we hope you all made new Cloud friends at the airport. Onward, fans.
Special thanks to Community member Michelle and her friend on the scene for their text-by-text updates. You ladies are absolutely fantastic.
We are so excited about this news! We’ve just learned that MBLAQ won their first #1 trophy on MNet M! Countdown today.
They are currently promoting their single ‘Y’, which overpowered veteran idol group SS501 in this week’s M! Countdown music battle. The win obviously meant a lot to the boys, because you can see several of them in tears after the win.

Express Night Out 6/2/2010 — BIGGEST BADASS STAR » Nominees: Angelina Jolie, “Salt”; Channing Tatum, “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra”; Chris Pine, “Star Trek”; Rain, “Ninja Assassin”; Sam Worthington, “Avatar” and “Clash of the Titans”
» Who should win: Rain, “Ninja Assassin”
There’s just something about Rain. A South Korean pop star who has branched into acting and reinvented himself into an ass-kicking vigilante in “Ninja Assassin,” Rain twisted, turned and took off dudes’ heads throughout the film, creating an excessively bloody, utterly escapist 99 minutes. Plus, anything the Wachowski Brothers do that isn’t “Speed Racer” is … well, better than “Speed Racer.” ….
From 2002, Rain versus Rain… and standing in the rain before “Nan.” WOW. There will never be another dancer like Rain to cross this Earth. Nor another singer with that voice. Ever. As community member Melanie says: “The man is sex on legs.” — Stephe ^@@^

Rain to leave for LA on the 3rd to attend 2010 MTV Movie Awards ceremony
TV REPORT 6/3/2010 — Rain has officially been asked to attend 2010 MTV Movie Awards ceremony to be held in LA’s ‘Gibson Amphitheatre’ on the 6th, USA, and will leave for LA on the afternoon of the 3rd. Rain has earned a MTV Award nomination for his performance in Ninja Assassin for Best Ass Kicking Star, and ‘Angelina Jolie’, ‘Channing Tatum’, etc. including Rain are competing for the award.
According to his agent, he’ll probably have a good chance of winning as he’s been officially asked to attend the awards ceremony, “The public is filled with more anticipation about his winning than ever, and the reaction of US officials is also very good.”
As Rain made a splendid achievement of winning three awards, ‘the Best International Entertainer’, ’10 Outstanding Asians in Hollywood’, and ‘Asian Cultural Ambassador of the Year’ in 2010 Green Planet Movie Awards in USA, all eyes are on whether he can win a MTV Movie Award.
Meanwhile, Rain finished his activities with his special album and plans to focus on preparing his concert in Japan after his visit to MTV Movie Awards ceremony.

[ *ETA: A big shout-out and word-up to wakkitakki @RL, for starting the original Summer Jams thread at MTV asking fans to write in Hip Song. Great job! ]
Hello Lovely Clouds,
I’ve got some exciting news for you…hot off the presses!
Not only did Rain land a final nomination in the 2010 MTV Movie Awards for Biggest Badass Star, but he also scored a BIG mention in MTV.com’s news yesterday. According to their posted article, Rain received lots of write-in votes during their Summer Jams 2010 Pollfor Hip Song, one of the tracks from his recently released special album: Back to the Basic. There were enough write-in votes to grab MTV’s attention and cause them to write about Rain, anyway, which can only be a very good thing for him, in my humble opinion.
Although Lady Gaga’s song Alejandro ultimately won the poll, with Katy Perry’s California Gurls coming in a close second, it was still nice to see Rain’s music being mentioned again on MTV.com—and in an extremely positive way.
[ But of all the wild cards, none got more attention than “Hip Song,” the latest single from Korean pop sensation Rain (of “Ninja Assassin” fame). The track — which appears in the trailer to the upcoming film “The Karate Kid” … got all manner of endorsements from die-hard fans who bombarded the comments section…. ]
The entire article, where you can read Rain’s headline, is on MTV News here:
The results are final and the poll is now closed, but if you’d care to read them, there are over 900 comments that were submitted while the poll was going on. Most of the comments are about Gaga and Perry, but many of them also mention Rain and Hip Song.
Although, Rain didn’t score a finalist’s position in or win the poll, we are excited that he has received this additional attention from fans in the U.S. and recognition from MTV, especially for Hip Song, which we think is terrific.
If you’d like to have a listen to Hip Song, check it out in The Karate Kid promotional music video below, which was produced for Korean audiences:

Cloud USA sends its congratulations to Rain and wishes all of his Clouds many more Rainy days!
[ *ETA: A helpful member has pointed out that this footage is actually from May of 2006, when Rain was the Ambassador of Election for the year, and this was advanced voting on his part because he wouldn’t be able to do it on the proper election day. Truly, there was something about his hair being a little too long in the back, that niggled at me as I looked at it (see the question mark in my subject line up there?)… but Rain was so darned cute in the footage that he just short-circuited my brain. Hehehe! Thanks, Glenda! 🙂
Oh, the news article here is true. What were the odds of that? ^@@^ ]
It certainly appears that this is what he is doing in this entertainment news footage—voting today, along with millions of his countrymen, for changes to their government’s infrastructure.
An ultra-important thing to do right now, with the political climate as unstable as it is on the Korean peninsula. Please pray for peace, everyone.
[ *ETA 6/23: There have been many questions lately about the DaeHanMinGuk shirt and other All The Reds shirts and merchandise, so we wanted to repost this from June 1st. We hope this information helps. 🙂 ]
The Korea Times 6/1/2010 — The first kick-off of the 2010 World Cup is a mere nine days away and the excitement is palpable in Korea. Football fans are mentally preparing across the oceans all over the globe and one of the best ways to do it is with the proper gear. From designer brands to casual wear, handbags to flip-flops, the fashion to celebrate the World Cup has something for everyone. So don’t worry about what to wear to the game: You’ll be decked out in team spirit….
—
….The variety of souvenir shirts is endless and Adidas, an official sponsor of the World Cup, is the producer of the style that several celebrities and entertainers have been spotted wearing. Footballer Park Ji-sung, Rain, and actor Jang Dong-gun have all been seen sporting the Chinese- and Korean-lettered red shirt (20,000 won).
Only about 18,000 of the single-edition shirts were produced, said Myeongdong branch manager Choi Min, and they’re quickly selling out. “Tourists and foreigners come in a lot before the games start,” he said. “What’s on the racks is all we have left.” ….
NOTE: Unfortunately, what this article implies is that the Adidas 大…한민!국! “Dae…han-min!-guk!” shirt we’ve fallen in love with is only available offline and you must physically walk into a shop in Korea to buy one (if you don’t bid for and get one on SK Telecom’s charity auction). And that there aren’t many left. *sigh* Oh well. We can simply console ourselves with All The Reds shirts, because truly, they are gorgeous.
This touching fan made video of stills from K-drama A Love To Kill took us right back to poor, tragic “BokGu” and the equally tragic “EunSeok”. Bless their hearts. They tried.
Rain absolutely blew us away in this role. We still bear the mental scars that his performance inflicted on us separately. After seeing this drama, there was no doubt in our minds that he would nail “Raizo” like a pro. — Stephe ^@@^
… during Arirang’s ShowBiz report on M-Wave’s first week behind-the-scenes. Their cute rapport and funny banter is really good for the show. Cheong-Dung is a born host… you can’t even tell he is nervous. And his English on the M-Wave show is tops. Rain has to be so proud of him! — Stephe ^@@^
(Unfortunately, MTV Arabia is down for revamping and repairs at this time.)
Best Global Superstar, a new category in the MTV Movie Awards this year, tallies the votes of movie fans around the world and grants a Golden Popcorn statuette based on that voting at the show in L.A. A nice idea, indeed. And there is also an online opinion poll, strictly for entertainment only, that encompasses the other 11 categories. *NOTE: In the Biggest Badass category, everyone’s picture is so sweet and cutsie, especially Rain’s. He’s sitting there looking like a Badass who wouldn’t hurt a fly. LOL!
Questions have been flying around the Rain Blog-o-sphere about buying tickets to the show: where to, how to, et cetera. We looked into that some days ago, and were surprised to discover that Ticketmaster and Livenation (the two biggest event sellers) didn’t have them because MTV hadn’t made them available yet. We don’t know why that is (unless MTV has never put them on sale… this is our first year paying this much attention to the event, after all). Only go-between sites, like Tickco and Vividseats, claim to have tickets to the show, and they cost a pretty penny. Talk about expensive. (Be very careful if you do go that route. Good luck.)
Last week, Arirang TV aired a showbiz extra spot on Rain’s appearance at Psy’s concert and on Rain’s three Back To The Basic autograph fanmeets in Seoul. “Rain is in his prime nowadays…” the narrator informs us here. Yes, yes he is!
One of the US fans was close enough to sit on his lap. You go, girl! — Stephe ^@@^

Rain and Hye-Sun (of Boys Over Flowers fame) have come together yet again in their Tous Les Jours spokesmodel duties, and they are looking good in these All The Reds shirts (a shout-out to soccer Team South Korea). As far as we can tell, this is for a special CJ Foodville/Tous Les Jours product launch concerning a new Korea Fighting! chocolate cake, promotional short films, lotteries to provide customers with gift vouchers, and various on-site events throughout Korea in support of Team South Korea in the upcoming World Cup. » The CJ Foodville homepage (in Hangeul) is HERE, with the article about the product launch on the PR page, notice #223.
Arirang is all too happy to give us their Top Five. And who’s in the Numero Uno position? Gee, we don’t know… Rain? LOL! But of course.
Uhm-hmm, we agree. Who the heck wouldn’t hit the gym with Rain there teaching P.E.? Just think of all the individual lessons that would come out of that. Honestly, he wouldn’t have time left for his “day job.” — Stephe ^@@^
[ *ETA 6/3/2010: More broadcast times for the show, including in Australia, have been added to this post. ^@@^]
Asian source Osen News is reporting today that due to Rain’s Top Five nomination, the 2010 MTV Movie Awards will be carried LIVE on MTV Korea. If Rain wins the Golden Popcorn statuette for Biggest Badass Star of the year, he will be the first Korean actor in history to receive an MTV Movie Award.
MTV Korea will broadcast the main ceremony at Gibson Amphitheater in Universal City, California (including the award announcements and performances, excluding the pre-show and walking of the Red Carpet) on June 7th for two hours, starting at 10 AM. Comedian Aziz Ansari will host the show, Tom Cruise, Cameron Diaz, and other top stars are slated to appear as presenters, and Christina Aguilera will perform.
Three new categories have been added to these global popularity awards this year: Biggest Badass Star, Global Superstar, and Best Scared-As-S**t Performance. Rain earned his nomination with his performance in NINJA ASSASSIN, his first Hollywood leading role.
(Thanks to rain bird and Rain Europe for this information.)
—
My goodness. Two things immediately come to my mind as I sit here. Firstly—this has grown into an even BIGGER deal than it was, what with no Korean actor ever having been included in this before. It really is daunting to think about the incredible pressure to win that is on Rain’s shoulders now, as if he doesn’t have enough of that. And, while young hip Koreans surely understand what the MTV Movie Awards are all about (undignified fun, unmitigated gall, the merciless spoofing of celebs, and grown people acting like complete 12-year-olds), and while these awards are pretty darned important when it comes to what’s hot in America’s mainstream, I shudder to think of the expression on the older generation’s faces when they tune in expecting something along the lines of the Academy Awards.
And secondly—I can only imagine what “Biggest Badass Star” and “Best Scared-As-S**t Performance” translates to (in Hangeul) as halmoni reads her morning paper. LOL!
— Stephe ^@@^ 12:55 am EST
