[fan cam] Rain and J.VJQ president teach us about “dotting the eyes.”

[Cloud USA — 3/30/11] Many USA Clouds and world Clouds know the meaning of “dotting your i‘s and crossing your t‘s” very well. When someone tells you to do that on our side of the world, they’re advising you to pay meticulous attention to detail, to be extra careful with whatever it is you’re doing and to get it right.

A good friend in Asia—and Rain and the J.VJQ president, as well—have now given us a new meaning when it comes to dotting i‘s. Or, rather, dotting eyes.

During the J.VJQ press conference in Beijing on March 25, where Rain signed his new four-year endorsement contract with the cosmetics and skincare company, you may have noticed that the two Chinese lions came up on the stage and then paused and waited as Rain and the company president seemed to draw or write on their faces. Well, what was being done here is known as Kai Guang (Eye Opening/Dotting), a symbolic practice carried down from ancient history and Tang China, where a special person is given the honor of dotting the eyes of a ceremonial lion (to give the guardian beast new life and to tame it).

It is tradition to ask VIP guests to dot the eyes. The symbolism here is that the lion will come fully alive after its eyes are dotted or painted on and will ward off evil spirits, as well as summon good luck and fortune. (To use a lion without doing this is to invite disaster.) J.VJQ’s president presented the red lion to Rain to wish his future business activities, career, and life much success.

And so if you were wondering what in the world was going on when it looked like Rain picked up a paint brush and began drawing, now you know!

Additionally, the overseas master for Cloud China presented JiHoon with a new bicycle, and a fan from a second fan site presented him with the certificate that China RainBar, ChinaCN, and other global Rain fans received for their “Rain & Clouds” Forest Project, where 2000 trees will be planted in Rain’s name to prevent desertification.

Let’s keep him lifted up and his spirits high, okay?

Hot Dude Of The Day: More Rain Photos. Now With Less Clothing. More Gratuitousness. Yeeeah…

OK. There’s just not a whole lot I can rationalize about this post and I won’t attempt to. Here, we have exactly what you see before you. A swath of real estate typically dedicated to the comely clothing and various accoutrement of attractive man-folk, this time featuring Korean actor and popMEGAstar Rain wearing basically nothing but a torn black singlet, shredded and looped like a policeman’s holster. A holster that gloriously accentuates his traps. And makes it far easier for us to ignore the fact that those zippered leather pants are “meh” and that we like the camo ones better. But who are we kidding? This is not a post about motorcycle gloves. Or hair that is shorter than it has been in a while. Or that someone is singing a song that appears to involve beseeching. This story is about a torso. And some unyielding obliques. A glistening Hot Dude torso + abs that just won’t somethingsomethingsomething *sigh*.

PATTAYA—This year’s edition of the Pattaya International Music Festival proved as popular as ever, even though the promised appearance by the cute lads from Japanese label Johnny Junior was pulled at the last minute as a result of the twin disasters to hit the country.

That left South Korean superstar Rain to pick up the slack and he did so on Saturday night in style, emerging on stage dressed in a black undershirt and black leather vest and wearing dark shades. He opened with “It’s Raining” and “Rainism” before greeting the Thai audience with a cheery “Hello Pattaya, it’s been a long time. I love you. I love Thailand. I will come back next month for a concert.”

That revelation was greeted with loud screams, which continued as Rain closed out his show with “Love Song” and “Hip Song.” And even though the night was nowhere near over, about half the crowd drifted away from the Universal Stage.

South Korea’s Son Dam Bi opened for Rain dressed in her sexy uniform and wound up the crowd along with four dancers. She sung her hit “dB Rider” before segueing into “Queen,” “Crazy” and “Saturday Night.” Watching her move on stage, it was easy to understand why she’s known as the “dancing queen”….

Lordie, I rolled when he said, “I don’t think you huuuurrrr(d) me…” Dude was smooth! I would have bought that bridge in Brooklyn, oh yeah, and spent every penny I had on it too, if JiHoon was selling it. I wonder what made him give that little laugh at the end. He probably really looked out at the audience finally and saw all the catatonic Deer In Headlights O____O waiting breathlessly for his next move, and was like WOW. Dang! I got it going on!

Every time my girl Insooni does something, it’s spectacular. Every time she puts on a performance, or even stands there and just opens her mouth, she makes sure that her Korean countrymen (who absolutely revere her as their R&B Diva) and all of us who are her fans have a grand ol’ time. She is one of a kind, and she never disappoints!

Please enjoy her latest performance, televised March 25, on Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook (KBS). She is helping us rep for the 50s like nobody’s business. Love it. Heheh!

You may recall that Insooni and Rain both headlined the Busan National Wide Festival last June 11, and that he happily acknowledged her as she sat in the audience at his ADIEU! 2010 concert on New Year’s Eve.

Rain becomes a model for a cosmetics brand in China

On the afternoon of last 25th, singer Rain signed a 1.36248 billion won contract with JVJQ company which produces hypoallergenic cosmetics, to endorse its products over 4 years. The period of his contract covers the term of his two-year military service.

Meanwhile, Rain will be holding a concert at Impact Arena in China on the 26th.

Looks like Rain recorded this announcement for Japanese fans about RAINY DAY Season 3 (starting on April 2, in the evenings from 5:45 – 6 pm in Asia) back when he was in Beijing the first time this month, busting out the news about his The BEST Rain 2011 Asia tour press conference.

Well, as I mentioned, Clouds, Rain maintains a packed schedule! Even in China. Seems like he will be busy every minute!

-Rain part-

– I’ve been trying to focus on what I should do to make no mistake and to entertain all of you for this concert.

– There will be a laser show this time compared to what I used to just sing while applying special effects to my performances, so you will probably be surprised by the scene if you are at my concert.

– What’s ‘laser show’ called in Chinese? ‘Zigwoang show’?

– I’ve tried all genres of music, but I want to combine dance with rock later.

– ‘Hip Song’ by definition means just having a great time, swaying your hips to the music.

– I think it is exciting and fun to see a lot of people showing much interest in me even if the overmuch concern can often cause misunderstanding.

– I feel much better after hearing that many of you always watch me pursue my dreams of becoming a better artist, so I try to always work hard as a singer and actor.

– My new album for all of Asia or for the whole world will come out soon. I’m trying to work on the music with several talented musicians in this endeavor. Also, drama ‘The Fugitive Plan B’ that ran in Korea last year, will seem to be shown in China soon. In addition, I’ll do a new film or a new drama in a relatively short period of time.

And so it seems that Rain has another new endorser in China… » J.VJQ Cosmetics. The words spokesperson for J.VJQ in huge letters behind his head there are pretty telling, but gee, how about an article or something in writing… Does the talk we’ve heard through the grapevine about a four-year contract (speculation, mind you!) have any substance to them? Hm. Only time will tell! We’ll go hunting, and bring anything valid we come across back to you here.
