South Korean entertainer Rain (a.k.a. Jung Ji Hoon) will be making his Chinese TV drama debut in the lead role of upcoming show “Love Is Like Diamonds” (a.k.a “Diamond Lover”) this year, produced by global distributor DMG Entertainment.
Starring with him will be Chinese A-listers Tang Yan (a.k.a Tiffany Tang), Luo Jin, and Di Li Re Ba.
DMG, based in Beijing, has recently co-produced Hollywood films Iron Man 3, Transcendence, and Looper. “Love Is Like Diamonds” will be China’s most expensive non-period production to date and the first of 10 TV dramas in DMG’s 2015 lineup.
“DMG is excited to be working with international sensation Rain on his first Chinese TV drama, and I’m personally thrilled to be working with him, especially on a story that is so touching, memorable and universal in its allure,” said DMG’s president Wu Bing. “Love Is Like Diamonds is a great start to a very big year for DMG’s TV division.”

Rain already ditched his nice guy image when he played an evil assassin in Hollywood film The Prince (2014) with Bruce Willis, a far cry from honorable killer “Raizo” in Ninja Assassin (2009). He’ll be doing it again in “Love Is Like Diamonds” when he plays overbearing, manipulative TESIRO Jewelry CEO “Xiao Liang”, while his co-stars play a disfigured woman, an awkward obstetrician, and a glamorous movie star.
This month’s themes are sponsor Yves Saint Laurent China (2014), Rain’s working vacation: Paris (2011), and Rain the BEST Show national tour (2011). They look better “centered” or “filled”, but please feel free to display them however you like.
You can read more about Rain’s 2011 working vacation in Europe in my previous post HERE. Enjoy. 🙂 ^@@^

On the latest episode of K-Drama Dress for Less, April (The Pink Fashion Ninja) and guest Kelly (OkayKell, Street Style: Seoul) not only gave cool fashion tips for “After School: Lucky or Not” outfits, they also had a Truth or Dare session, heheh.
If you could have two K-Drama hunks fight over you, who would they be?
Miss April threw Rain right up in that mix along with cutie Ji Chang Wook, and I salute her. Yassssssss. 🙂
I have to salute Kelly, too, for being a braver woman than me. My gwiyomi is heartbreakingly bad. I’d never do it in public for fear of causing an international incident. The cutest gwiyomi I ever did see was when Yoseob of BEAST did it live on stage, and he was doing it so fast that I was like, dude, slow down. keke~

When our YouTube moderator Naoko (harudoful) posted on her blog last week about making us special facial tissue holders to commemorate our 5th Anniversary, we were surprised, happy, and humbled by her thoughtfulness.
And by YouTube mod Jess’s (rainthetreasure) thoughtfulness as well, as she included her fan artwork along with Naoko’s to make the gifts extra-special. ❤ ❤
Still, when the real thing arrived—all the way from Japan!—I wasn’t as prepared to see it as I thought I was.
We are stunned at the amazing amount of workmanship that Naoko put into these gorgeous tissue holders! And what woman’s heart isn’t melted by getting a sweet treat from Frantz Kobe to boot? Wahhh.
Naoko and Jess, we can never put into words just how much we love our anniversary gifts. Suffice it to say they will never leave our desks! Except for the sweets, of course. Ha ha 🙂
In fact, we want to thank each and every CUSA staffer, Cloud sister, and Rain fan for the greetings, cards, holiday and birthday tokens, everything you all have thoughtfully sent to us each year. We may not get to say so because of our crazy schedules, but every single thing has brightened our days, made us smile, and helped us fight the good fight for Rain and Clouds because we know that you care. That means a lot.
Group hug, everybody! Sincerely and on Terri’s behalf~

Since there’s been a really positive response to our post Asian Artists To Know, we’re going to start a little integration from here on out. And since I (Kel) am a Cloud from the days of Bad Guy and Handshake, the first track is going to feature the King of Kpop, Rain.
Around 2006, Rain was solidifying his hold on Asia and Omarion was riding high after his well-received solo debut. It makes since that the two, who are both amazing dancers and have similar styles when it comes to music, would collaborate on a track. The result was Man Up, a track about how both of them can take your girl and that you should at least fight for her. The track was featured on the overseas’ edition of Omarion’s 21, so most people in the states didn’t hear it (which is too bad because it needed a video)…

“I can communicate if I just look into the eyes.”
Oh, I’ll just bet you can, Rain. I’m sure all of your leading ladies concur. 🙂
MWave 1/23/2015 — by Newsen Oh Hyo Jin / Translation Credit : Yeawon Jung
The Chinese director of Rain’s drama praised the star′s earnestness.
On January 23, the Chinese media outlet Sina.com reported that director Chen Ming Zhang, who is in charge of producing the Chinese drama Diamond Lover, highly praised Rain’s acting ability.
Rain attended the press conference for Diamond Lover, which took place on January 22 in Shanghai along with his costar Tang Yan. Director Chen Ming Zhang sent over a video message instead of attending the event due to his busy schedules of filming and editing.
Rain has been promoting actively in China recently, starring in the film For Love or Money on top of the drama. When a reporter asked, “What is the secret behind your outstanding communication in Chinese?”
Rain answered, “I can communicate if I just look into the eyes. I’ve been studying Chinese too.”
Director Chen Ming Zhang also praised Rain’s earnestness and acting ability. He said, “Since Rain is a foreigner, communication is not perfect but he has been working that much harder. In order to accurately understand his character and get a grasp of the emotions, he tries to memorize the scripts of his costar. He is a very professional actor.”
Diamond Lover is a romance drama about an unattractive woman finding happiness on her way to becoming a shining diamond. Rain will be acting as the owner and CEO of a large diamond supply company.

Three months after our media blog went live, Rain released his Back To The Basic mini-album (April 2010) and the “Love Song” and “Hip Song” MVs, and hit the comeback trail hard on all the music chart shows on South Korean TV. He was hotter than the Devil on a rotisserie in the South.
For this particular performance, he was wearing his red Swarovski bling as our Katie had predicted, and his stunning Atlanta ball cap.
We thought we had died and gone to heaven. For real. ^@@^

Not only have the Chinese sponsors that Rain had before going in the military kept a firm grip on him since he got out (MENtholatum, and J.VJQ), he’s also bagged several new ones (Yves Saint Laurent, and LAviva Ice Tea). Impressive. Who’s next?
(Hold up. Didn’t sumbuddy predict that sumbuddy’s career would be over, a while back yonder? Hello? *echoes* *crickets* Yeah. You didn’t know what the hell you were talking about.)

Film distributor The Klock Worx, based in Tokyo, is blasting the word out about Hollywood movie The Prince (2014) opening in Japanese theaters starting this coming Monday, January 12. It looks like in Japan the film will be going by the name コードネーム:プリンス(Code Name: Prince).
Back on January 7, they posted information and a schedule on their Twitter. Some of the places the movie is headed for in Saitama, Osaka, and Hyogo Prefectures and the Tokyo Metropolitan area are Ginza, Ikebukuro, and Shinjuku Districts, Shibuya District, Cine Libre Kobe, Theatre Umeda, and more.
It’s also listed on The Klock Worx website and at most of the theaters with upcoming showings.
It’s good to see The Prince on the big screen outside of the States. We wish it much success over there, and lots of love from our Japanese Cloud sisters.
