Please enjoy this, Rain’s memorable stint on the 2002 KBS Entertainment Awards, where he was not only a performer, but a presenter as well (poor thing, once he got tickled, he couldn’t get un-tickled, haha). He was also up for the Division Rookie MC Award (신인상 MC부문 ), but our girl Lee HyoRi (a host for the show that night) was one of the nominees who took the prize. Good for her!

(Incidentally, it looked like one of the comedians up for a Division Rookie award had parodied a pink-clad Bi with “Instead of Saying Goodbye” at one point. LOL)

As a bit of icing on the cake, Rain closed the show with “Goodbye.” (We see you back there, BbaekGa, haha!)

We are really happy to hear that there is a campaign going on by HanKyung.com in South Korea for suicide prevention. The numbers in past years have been climbing there when it comes to citizens and celebrities alike. In our humble opinions, the situation has become dire.

JiHoon has a lot of inner strength. Seeing him lend some of that strength to this worthy campaign is a good thing.

Please NOTE: Rain doesn’t seem to be directly quoted here when it comes to the last question about his military service. Rather, that part looks summarized in the original Hankook article and could be attributed to the writer, we don’t know. Therefore, there is nothing new in that regard. He has not released his enlistment date. Whether he is or is not going sometime in October hasn’t yet been determined and is not known.

‘Han Kyung.Com’, one of Korea’s internet finance media, is waging a vehement campaign to stop suicide, using the slogan “Beautiful Korea To Live With One Another.”

‘Han Kyung.Com had an interview with singer and actor Rain, as part of its campaign.

Q : What do you think about suicide?

Rain : Not to mention, it is bad thing… All of us can be in unbearable situations, but I think that desperate choices should never be taken.

Q : What kinds of efforts do you think we should go through to stop the suicide that has recently come to the fore as a serious social issue these days?

Rain : I think we need to show more concern for the troubled people. Such a thing often happens in an extreme circumstance, so it’s important that we try to spend much time speaking with them and talk it out.

Q : What do you try to do positively when your feelings are too much for you to handle?

Rain : By sharing my stories with the good people around me, I can ease my difficulties. We have shared both joys and sorrows since my debut, so I’ve been drawing strength from them.

Rain who is about to enter the army sometime in October, has been going on a nationwide tour, “2011 RAIN THE BEST SHOW”, for the first time in ten years since he made his debut, and putting in his final effort towards the shooting of movie ‘Flight : Close to the Sun.’

It is said that not only is ‘2011 RAIN THE BEST SHOW’, which is full of his own special method of running shows during the last ten years, providing fantastic events to watch the way it is, but it is carrying the audience to feel more involved in it and is really quite good and satisfying.

RAINY DAY Season 3, episode 25. “What’s up, Singapore?”

Ahh. This week, we head back to the time of The BEST Rain 2011 Asia Tour, specifically when Rain hit Singapore on May 22 for his concert stop there. He pauses and has a word with us in the corridor before heading into the panel room for his press conference, and then all the photographers waiting for him get a shot at a long awaited photo op.

As you may recall, in Kallang (Singapore), Rain initiated a water conservation movement with authorities and citizens in that country and incorporated his BEST concert into that movement. He was also presented with a national water authority certificate by PUB’s official mascot for his efforts. (Wow, I may only be able to pick up a word here or there and not understand what he’s saying, but all of that handsomeness as he’s being interviewed makes the visuals well worth my time!) He looks quite content and pleased with the way his year has gone as he speaks here, and perhaps little jet-lagged from traveling from Germany. As we segueway a bit into a scene from inside the opera house in Dresden, it appears the interviewer was asking about his May 19 Classic Meets Pop joint concert with the wonderful Jan Vogler, at the DMF.

Thank you, RAINY DAY, for including those little snippets of sit-down interview time.

Then, we’re whisked backstage at BEST Singapore with Rain and Crew, right before show time. FYI: The fan sign at minute marker 5:52 says “Singapore” (sing-gapol) with a little cloud symbol underneath. Singapore Clouds in tha house! 🙂

And there he is. “Are you guys ready?” Oh, yes they were. They reacted to “I’m Coming” with all the screams and passion they could muster.

LOL! @ 7:11 and 7:14. Such a character. You just never know what he’s going to do or say at any given moment, in any language, at any time. It is literally a crap shoot. Hahaha! 🙂 He did throw in my favorite English phrase of his as he continued to swagger around the stage, and I love him for it. “I’m gonna show you… everything.” That is a loaded statement if I ever heard one. Ha!

After Rain launches into “Harudo/Not a Single Day”, RAINY DAY edits in a few quick scenes from the rest of the Asia Tour—BEST Beijing, BEST Thailand, BEST Macao, BEST Taiwan, more Singapore, BEST Shanghai, and BEST Guangzhou—and then reminds us that RAIN The Best Show 2011 Korea Tour is to come. No problem, folks. We are watching and waiting!

[fan cam] Revisiting 2007: A Familiar Face at Rain’s World Tour.

Seeing as Rain’s presentation of sultry, smoldering song “Familiar Face” during his 2007 World Tour is one of my favorite performances (particularly at the Tokyo Dome and a few other venues where he put some “coffee in his cream”, yes the sistas are feelin’ me), I definitely wanted to share this gem of a fan cam from Rain’s World Hong Kong.

Boy, was he giving all of his Familiar Face Girls in this leg of the tour some extra stage-loving or what? Yowza. And the Girls themselves were giving back as good as they were getting.  N-i-c-e-l-y done. (Go, Menina, sliding down that leg! Go, Nicole, giving him the Hand!)

Gosh, talk about perfecting the Art of Suffering On Stage, and being thoughtful/smart enough to let a portion of your dancers represent an international audience.

I simply never get tired of watching this. I doubt if anybody sues me. 🙂

Just an FYI… The kind folks over at HanCinema have named Rain’s most recent drama, The Fugitive: Plan B (도망자: Plan B, pronounced Domangja: Plan B), as its Korean drama for this week. You can visit their post and explore more Fugitive things by following this link to their website:

We’re very happy to see this because, despite the problems that plagued the plot due to unforeseen circumstances, Rain and all the actors were absolutely superb in their characters. They made us laugh, made us cry, left us furious, and made us sigh, without missing a beat.

Fugitive’s premiere broadcast began in Korea at the end of September 2010 and the 20-episode series ended in December, but the show has since continued to air all around the world. At present, it should be in Japan and Taiwan.

Hi, everyone!

Concerning the crazy debacle that touched off today over media “miscommunication” about Rain’s upcoming enlistment, the folks over at 10Asia are the only outlet who have an article up that is to our satisfaction. You can read that article here:

NOTE: Please keep in mind that all Rain has said out of his own mouth is that he will be announcing a big new project (his last one, for now) at an upcoming press conference, and he does seem pretty excited about it. It has been reported in various places that this project could be connected to the new album that he has coming out, OR connected to his new movie in post-production (Flight: Close To The Sun), and that this press conference will be the day of his Best concert in Seoul on the 24th, but no one really knows what the project is. It is all speculation on everyone’s part.

The only thing for sure is that the upcoming press conference will not be an enlistment announcement of any kind.

Rain has promised that he’ll tell us properly when his date is set.

“The Rainbow Project” Gathers Superstars for the Benefit of African Children

Hallyu frontrunner Bae Yong Joon, star producer Park Jin Young, recent Cannes attendee Jeon Ji Hyun and singer/actor Rain led an A-list line-up of actors and idols participating in “The Rainbow Project,” a charity auction to help African children.

“The Rainbow Project,” a brainchild of art director Go Young Hee and Broom Tree, aims to raise funds through a week long sale of stars’ personal possessions, exhibition of artwork and performances, and health and beauty promotions. Profits made from the event happening in Seoul on September 17 to 25, will be donated for the benefit of opening up the dreams of poor African children.

“I wish to share the happiness and hope,” Jeon Ji Hyun said in a statement.

“I am delighted to have been given the chance to be a part of ‘The Rainbow Project,’” actor Jo In Sung said. “I hope everyone supports the event to help children live their powerful dreams.”

Actress Son Ye Jin, last seen on TV in 2010’s “Personal Taste,” donated a bracelet she had made herself. She said, “I am happy my personally made bracelet can be a part of this.”

Actors Jang Hyuk, Go Soo, Kang Ji Hwan, Lee Min Ki, Daniel Henney, Song Joong Ki, Ryu Seung Soo, and Kim Soo Hyun, along with today’s hottest idols Kim Hyun Joong, 2PM and miss A participated in the charity project as well.

While “The Rainbow Project” is gaining attention for the participation of celebrities, it is only the latest charity program of its creator Go Young Hee, who, for 10 years, has been teaching art to those who could not afford it.

Bae Yong-joon, Park Jin-young, Jeon Ji-hyeon, Rain, Jo In-Seong and Son Ye-jin got together for the kids in Africa.

A charity program called “The Rainbow Project” to help open up the dreams of poor children in Africa allows the stars to donate their personal possessions and share their minds.

At the event which will be held from the 17th to the 25th in Seoul, donations of pictures and paintings, sculptures, performances, stars’ possessions, medical techniques, beauty and promotion will take place.

Top stars such as Bae Yong-joon, Park Jin-young, Jeon Ji-hyeon, Rain, Jo In-Seong, Son Ye-jin, Jang Hyeok, Kim Hyun-joong, Ko Soo, Kang Ji-hwan, Lee Min-ki, Daniel Henney, Song Joong-ki, Ryoo Seung-soo, Kim Soo-hyeon-I, 2PM, Miss A and several others will participate in this charity.

Jo In-Seong said, “I am happy to be able to give a hand to those children Africa. I hope everyone gathers the support to help them live with dreams and goals”. Jeon Ji-hyeon also said, “I hope I can deliver hope and happiness to many. Son Ye-jin donated a bracelet she made herself and said, “I am so happy my personally made bracelet could be a part of this”.

“The Rainbow Project” is hosted by art director Ko Young-hee, who has taught art to those who couldn’t afford it for ten years, and Broom Tree. The profits made in this event will all be donated to African children.

More misleading articles. *sigh*

We’ve been asking this question for a good year and a half—why doesn’t the Media and everybody back off and let Rain handle his military service and announce his enlistment HIMSELF? And frankly, a press conference would be a huge waste of time and money seeing as everybody already knows he’s going in. Aren’t they for announcing things you don’t know?

Heck, if the News could be trusted, ZEPP Japan would have been his last concert before the military! Or was it Intensity Manila that was the last concert? No, it would have been ADIEU!2010, where he was saying goodbye to his fans (LOL). No, it would have been the BEST Asia tour, or the music festival in Pattaya… No, according to the News, it was the Dresden Music Festival. Et cetera. Et cetera. On and on ad nauseam.

He knows what he’s doing. He knows when he wants to let us in on his plans. Just leave him alone, go write badly about something else, and let him do that. My goodness.

Just stick to your guns, Rain. Do it your way.
