9/1 – 8/30. Rain’s fond remembrances of Vietnam, posted by him. Good to see he got some rest and relaxation, good eatin’, and was happy with his performance. Two more things he said while interviewed that he will remember fondly — the yummy Vietnamese food and the wonderful support from his fans in Vietnam. ❤ ^@@^(Images credit: rain_oppa @ Instagram / Rain_비&정지훈 @ FB)

**UPDATE: [replay] Just now coming online? Wanna see Rain’s Miss Vietnam 2016 performance? It’s at marker 3:29:15 in the live stream video below. Just CLICK and enjoy! 🙂 ^@@^ ↓ ↓
**UPDATE: Seems there was a V-Live glitch on Rain’s end… word on the street is the chat room was so active, the Internet connection became unsteady and they couldn’t tell if he was on air or not, and disengaged, but we did get that tiny bit of him! In any case, we’re watching the beauty competition live streamed from Miss Vietnam’s official YouTube right now in the hopes of seeing Rain perform…! ^@@^

People are still asking for information about Rain’s upcoming live broadcast on our V-apps and V.Live TV, so I’m putting up this additional post. It’s happening in about 7 hours, so get ready! Huge thanks to R.A.I.N. Company for putting the exact time and a link from Rain’s V.Live page on their Naver blog and their social media. Thumbs up! 🙂
These images are from Tân Sơn Nhất International Airport and the Pullman Saigon hotel in Vietnam.
This SaoStar news article reported that even though they couldn’t see Rain’s face properly because of his mask, his body was still banging hot and he was wonderfully friendly, especially to the fans. Aw! Another article said he was exhausted from his schedule, so he was taken directly from airport VIP to his hotel… that the organizers originally wanted 40 bodyguards but Rain said no, that was too much attention when he’s just a guest singer, so they settled on 30… and that he’s revised his performance to be a little longer, maybe? Blast these doggone language barriers! 🙂 ^@@^
**UPDATE: R.A.I.N. Company has released updated info on their Naver blog about Rain’s V.Live broadcast!
Rain’s live broadcast time will be at 10 PM Sunday night, Vietnam Time, backstage, just before he’s ready to go on stage for the finale. That’s 11 AM EST, Sunday morning. You can check the times for your locations by clicking THIS LINK. Thumbs up, R.A.I.N. Co! ^@@^
Just a quick reminder, Clouds and fans — this is Miss Vietnam 2016 weekend! The competition itself is on Sunday night, August 28, and not only was Rain invited to perform during the finale, R.A.I.N. Company announced that he is scheduled to broadcast live to his fans on our V-apps from backstage. “Before the show” could mean literally before the competition starts OR before he goes on stage later, I’ve no idea, so IMHO your best bet is to keep an ear listening for Rain’s V-Live notification chime on your phone at least from 7 PM Vietnam Time onward, if not earlier. (READ about the V-app by clicking HERE.)
According to this Vietnam TV news article, the Red Carpet looks to start at 19:00 (7 PM) and the competition at 20:00 (8 PM) on VTV Channels 1 and 9. That’s 8 AM and 9 AM early Sunday morning here in Atlanta. You can check the start time for your location HERE: → Timeanddate.com: Miss Vietnam 2016 Red Carpet
It’s also a good idea to keep an eye on V.Live’s upcoming shows schedule HERE in case Rain’s broadcast gets listed ahead of time…
Rain message (8/24). Here’s what we need to know, peeps: VK Entertainment (an entertainment company founded with the goal to connect Vietnam and Korea’s cultural/entertainment worlds) is a proud sponsor of the Miss Vietnam 2016 competition and very excited to have Rain coming in to perform during the finale on Sunday 8/28.
At the same time, Rain is also promoting Fashion Industry Market Culture 2016, which is a cultural exchange program between Vietnam and Korea that involves fashion shows (14 different brands) and a tournament for players of popular online battle arena game League of Legends. Sounds like a lot to do and see, much fun, and I wouldn’t mind being there! — Stephe^@@^ (Video source credit: VK Entertainment JSC @FB / Re-up: HCYANG0115)
Several posts earlier, we took a look back at Rain’s first SK Telesys campaign, “Be The Man” for the SK-800 W phone in May 2010. About 2 months after that, in July, came the “Be With Aura” campaign for the SK-900, and it visually stunned us even more than the first one.
He had so much of an aura in it that Rain’s Clouds were almost in a coma. OMG! @__@ 😀 ^@@^

Our first clue that something was coming was when, super-early on the morning of July 15, Rain’s dancer and hyung Park Kyeong-Yeol tweeted these pics ↑ ↑ (one of himself) on the streets of Yokohama, Japan. We all knew that Rain was in Kobe, Saitama, and other Japanese cities filming The Fugitive: Plan B and performing at his 2010 Rain Loves Japan ZEPP concert tour stops at the same time, but Yokohama was not one of those cites. So, what was he doing there? Filming a CF, maybe? That’s him in the background, right? Please let it be a new CF!
We had no idea what we were in for. Epic. Eye. Candy. 🙂 ^@@^
Full concert. Whether you have or haven’t seen a televised Rain concert before, this is an amazing treat! The Squall concert tour stop in Hong Kong was released on Rain’s official YouTube Channel on 8/12. Yup, the whole thing. Way to go, R.A.I.N. Company! 😀 ^@@^ (Credit: RAIN’s Official Channel @ YT.)
8/13. 华皇传媒 Hua Huang Media’s commercial ads for The Squall Shantou concert tickets going on sale and announcing this cool info page on Rain’s career in connection with the concert. Nice! ^@@^)

If I’m interpreting it correctly, this is what they want us to know:
He’ll be flying from Shanghai to Ho Chi Minh City on 8/27 for the pageant on 8/28, and afterwards leaving Vietnam and returning home via Incheon Airport in Seoul on 8/29. Also, while he’s backstage at the pageant waiting to take the stage, he plans to hit us up on our V-apps! That’s right! It’s been a good while, about 5 months, since he’s done a live Rain show, and that would be a perfect place…
What: The 2005 Hallyu (Korean Wave) All Star Summit. This event marked the 40th anniversary of the normalization of Korean/Japanese diplomatic ties, and encompassed two concerts starring top South Korean singers and actors. 24,000+ fans attended.

How many times it made me want to shout: 11
1) Oh, gosh. That outfit. Why does it look so good on him? He’s got legs and arms for days and days. That voice. That smile. The sex-ay.
2) This is during his A Love To Kill K-drama filming era, as I mentioned in a previous post, and oh my stars, he is channeling “Kang Bokgu” yet again and it’s really really working for me. My fan-girling while watching this performance again was utterly ridiculous and out of control. My brother kept yelling down the hallway at me, “Are you okay?” LOL~
Let me start off by apologizing, peeps. I had planned on a completely different ad campaign when I inadvertently came upon this one, from back when Rain was starring in K-drama A Love To Kill, and… well, I kind of lost my ever loving mind over it all over again. *sigh*
Not only is this Rain DOHC campaign so visually stunning that your brain nearly explodes, it is amazing in that you can clearly see that he’s channeling a character. Not only does he look like ALTK’s “Kang Bokgu”, he acts like Bokgu in those pics as well. He has Bokgu’s mannerisms and expressions, and wonder of wonders, it worked exceptionally well with the clothing. Brilliant.
The last time I did a full post about this campaign was in early 2011. I just had to do again today. It would not be denied. So… enjoy! Consider yourselves DOHC’d ta death! ^@@^ (Making of video Re-up: AlwaysLoveRain)
I was so shocked to find the original Rain DOHC campaign site still up after 6 years that I downloaded these ads directly from the site with a quickness! A good thing, too, because now it is indeed gone. Aw. ❤ ^@@^ (Images credit: IDOHC.com)

He walked the Blue Carpet, signed in, and gave autographs to some lucky fans. Later on, he was named the Best International Artist for 2016 and graciously accepted that award, which I’ll cover in a separate post.
Gosh, I don’t think he had a hair out of place. Looking good, JiHoony. 🙂 ^@@^

What: The 29th Blue Dragon Film Awards, Special Performance
Where: KBS Hall in Yeouido, Seoul
When: 11/20/2008
How many times it made me want to shout: 11
1) I gave a delighted shout even before the show started because I was still a fairly novice Cloud with extremely limited Internet (dial-up^^) and limited Rain in my life, and I was banking on him being on this show.
Nowadays, there are dozens of ways to watch Korean programming, but back then, few to none. Thanks to an international channel on our cable provider, I got to watch a K-drama, some music videos, and occasional awards shows on my actual TV at night. My brother and I saw the Blue Dragons on the schedule and thought, Rain has a new song out (“Rainism”), the Wonder Girls have a new song out (“Nobody”), maybe they’ll perform, there’s a chance, right? We settled down to watch it and we both got our wish! What were the odds! Yaaaaaaay!
The first campaign was filmed in Australia, while this “Come to Nature” one was filmed in March 2010 in the beautiful forests of Jeju Island. Rain was freezing his butt off, but looking at the CF, you would not have thought so ’cause he’s a pro! ^@@^
7/11. An EBC 東森新聞 Channel 51 entertainment news report on Rain and former Full House leading lady Song Hye Kyo, out of Taiwan, posted by R.A.I.N. Company on their Twitter. 🙂 ^@@^
7/14. A young professional happened upon Rain at breakfast in their hotel in Shanghai today. It doesn’t look like she was a fan, per se, but she might be one now because of the exclamation point and emoji in her post, haha^^ 🙂 ^@@^ (Images credit: 安于平生欢 @ Weibo)
7/11 & 7/13. Posted by the official Mentholatum China Weibo account. They’re always making it Rain over there and on their product pages. New product front and center! 🙂 ^@@^
Rain holds down the fort at Endless August press conference while leading lady Victoria finishes prior commitments
There’s another new TV drama coming to Chinese-speaking territories, folks! It’s called Endless August (八月未央 / August Not The End) and it stars hardworking entertainers Rain (a.k.a. Jung Ji Hoon) and Victoria Song (a.k.a. Song Qian) of beloved K-Pop group f(x). The global conference announcing the drama was held on July 6 in Shanghai, with Rain on the red carpet and on stage with director Wang Xiaokang and…. (con’t)

What: The 7th Korea Film Awards, Special Performance
Where: Sejong Center for the Performing Arts, Seoul
When: 12/4/2008
How many times it made me want to shout: 9
1) Dance break #1… OMG, Rain and a pole! OMG RAIN AND A POLE
2) OMG, those shoulders against that white shirt… the lines and the definition… the shine and the sweat. This was the same year that he filmed Ninja Assassin, so there was still some “Raizo” in that body and plenty of Gun Show.
Rain wore this classic wool Sartorial suit from ETRO‘s Spring/Summer 2016 collection and the floral pocket square from their Fall/Winter 2016 collection to the global press conference for his new Chinese TV drama, Endless August, on July 6 in Shanghai. It was very cool of ETRO China to show their appreciation by posting about it on their Weibo account.
