The 2010 TIME Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People: Cast Your Votes Clouds!

•April 1, 2010 • 28 Comments

[ *Edited to Add 4/16/10: Rain has been all over this Poll for the past weeks, from #3 to #4 to #5 and even 6. Voting for the number one spot has officially closed, but the list itself is still open for additional voting and will be until Thursday the 22nd.  Let’s get Rain as high as we can, Clouds, not because of his name but because of the way he has influenced a vast swatch of this world.  Keep voting for our Ji-Hoon dongsaeng (or oppa, depending on your age)… thanks!

Incidentally, a little birdie clued us in about an article where Ji-Hoon mentioned how he’s watching what’s happening over on the TIME poll himself.  If this is true, I dare say he must be quite proud of his Clouds. 🙂  ]

°

[ *ETA 4/13/2010: As of now, even with our valiant efforts, Rain has slipped to #4  behind Iranian freedom fighter Mir-Hossein Mousavi.  With Mr. Mousavi’s stance on human rights and influence on his own country and the world, he should indeed be on this list, and his new TIME Poll position does not upset us.  Congratulations to Kim Yu-Na for her new #1 ranking, as well.  These two people have changed thinking across the entire planet, as Rain has done, and they all deserve their votes.

It’s not over yet, though.  So everyone, don’t be easily discouraged, and keep VOTING.  Rain has never given up on anything he has started a day in his life, nor should we.  Thanks for supporting him! ]

Calling all Clouds!

2010 Time 100 Candidates

*

It’s time to cast your votes for the leaders, artists, innovators and icons you think merit spots on the 2010 Time’s Magazine’s list of the 100 most influential people in the world.

*

FYI, on the candidates list:

  • Rain appears at #48.
  • Kim Yu-na appears at #2.
  • Stephen Colbert appears at #35.

To vote, click on the person’s candidate listing, and their page will open.  Then, above their picture, you will see a slider widget.  The closer you move the slider to 100%, the more influential that person is considered to be.

When I voted, Rain was at 50%.  Of course, those stats keep changing as everyone keeps voting.  Last time I looked, Rain only had 24 votes, including mine.  So, all you Clouds need to get in there and VOTE.

AND You can vote more than once.  So, vote early and vote often!

We’re counting on you!

Terri :-}

P.S.  Please note:  While I was casting my votes for some other people, the site started having some technical difficulties.  Hopefully those will be cleared up soon.  If you experience this, just check back later.  It may be that they are getting so much traffic that the site can’t handle it.

[Cloud USA Project]: We Want Rain to Perform at the 2010 MTV Music Awards

•April 1, 2010 • 6 Comments

Calling all Clouds!

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to contact MTV and request that they invite RAIN to PERFORM at the 2010 MTV Music Awards, on June 6, 2010, in Los Angeles, California.

Rain as Raizo

This is perfect timing, since the special mini-album Rain is about to release includes an English version of Love Song.  We would absolutely love to see him perform Love Song on our television screens here in the USA.

So how should we contact them? In every single way imaginable:

Reply @ MTV’s TWITTER.

As soon as they announce the event, comment on MTV’s  facebook. (I didn’t see an announcement yet, but there should be one coming soon.)

Go to their MySpace Blog and comment on the event’s thread.

Or simply write them a good old-fashioned letter at:

MTV, 1633 Broadway, 31st Floor, New York, NY 10019 USA

You've been Raizo'd!

Their website, MTV.com, says there is a You Tell Us feedback section somewhere, a place from which you can send them feedback.  Unfortunately, I could never get any of the You Tell Us pages to load, so I can’t share any reliable information about that.  If anyone out there knows how to send MTV.com a direct e-mail via their website, please let us know.

Clouds, an appearance on the MTV Movie Awards would mean incredible, instant exposure for Rain, as this awards show is spectacularly popular here in the US and millions of viewers will be tuning in to watch.

Of course, we don’t even know if he is available to perform during that time.  His schedule is terribly busy.  But don’t you think it would be nice if he, at the least, received an invitation?

We do.

Wishing you many Rainy days,

Terri :-}

Rain ushers in springtime on new Nature Republic CF.

•April 1, 2010 • 1 Comment

A new Nature Republic commercial spot announcing the coming of spring, shot with Rain » in the Cheju Island forests back on March 16th, will be aired on television beginning April 3rd.  According to a Nature Republic official, the weather was actually the worst it could be for shooting on a location spot at that time.  Though everyone else was bundled up, Rain (in extremely thin clothing and with an injured foot, in the wind and cold) showed an unshakable work ethic the entire time.

We’re not surprised by that, are we, Clouds?  When he’s working, “professionalism” is Rain’s middle name.

I’ve had that dream for a while, making a visit to Jeju-do (Cheju-do) Island.  One day…  Stephe ^@@^

SeungHo-nism: A tribute to Ji-Hoon hyung.

Rainism, by Seung-Ho (MBLAQ).  Imitating big brother Rain.

Thunder and Mir happily back their leader up.  Joon and G.O are having no part of it. 🙂  This bit of cuteness had me giggling out loud.  Surely Rain (the Boss) cracked up laughing when HE saw it.  I hope.  — ^@@^

8 years ago this month, Ji-Hoon debuted as Bi & our lives changed.

•April 1, 2010 • 7 Comments

In April 2002, our Magic Feet launched himself into the air, flew off on the journey of a lifetime (with his first album “n001” and very first hit BAD GUY), and has never landed.  Oh, there was turbulence (Team S. Korea was prominent in the World Cup a month later and took Korea’s complete attention away from his new single), but instead of starting a whole new album, Bi came back strong with a second track from n001, “Instead of Saying Goodbye.”  Victory!  The public belonged to HIM.  That album should have been called SMART GUY.

(I always get dancing-happy and then teary-eyed watching this video that we absolutely treasure: “Instead of Saying Goodbye” goes #1, and a humble mega-icon is born.  Mentioning his father and late mother brings Bi to tears. Courtesy of dukedik2.)

As we understand it, with his second album, the English translation of Bi came into play: RAIN.  And the rest, as they say, is history.  So during this fine April, Clouds, remember our motto:

Behind every Cloud, there’s a silver lining.  His name is Rain.

Support Rain this month with a Happy Anniversary card or a silver lining letter (you choose your own stationery at your favorite store—have fun with it!).  Let him know that though he is lonely at times, he is never truly alone because we are all with him.  As our Asian, European, and Latin sisters have taught us—without Clouds, there can be no Rain. — Stephe ^@@^

Yes, we did.  For once, Terri and I had the same event to attend—our fiction focus writers’ group meeting, in her town.  When the meeting finished 45 minutes early… oh, it was crystal clear just what was on our minds—

HAVING A LONG-AWAITED RAIN FEST.  Yeah.  It was time to get down (as he would say).

So after a late dinner, we headed to her place and completely immersed ourselves in all things Jung Ji-Hoon: Our brand new magazines newly arrived from overseas—the November 2009 issue of Filmax, and the March 2010 issue of CosmoMen (a Daniel Henney ad was on the back of it, holy smokes), and her new Ninja Assassin movie on Blu-ray and all the features that came on the DVD.  If we had been on a desert island with all of that stuff and no food, we still would have been happier than two bats in a belfry.

I was on my way home a good while later when suddenly it hit me… any number of things could have happened, heck, the entire Rain Internet Blog-o-sphere out there could have imploded while we were playing hookie and we wouldn’t have known a thing.  But then, that’s what happens when you have the chance to be with “Raizo”—everything else in the world, within reason, takes a backseat.

You know I’m telling the truth.  — Stephe ^@@^

Rain’s new ballad tops online music charts.

•March 31, 2010 • 2 Comments

HanCinema 3/31/2010—Korean singing sensation Rain’s new ballad “Love Song” has topped several online music charts since its release yesterday, according to his agency J.Tune Entertainment on Wednesday.

“Song” from Rain”s upcoming special album “BACK TO BASICS” is at the No.1 spot on the websites of online music providers Bugs and Melon, as well as social networking site Cyworld.  The song, which is Rain’s first time to select a ballad as the title track for his album, is about a man’s unforgotten love for his woman even though they are separated….

Hello lovely Clouds!

Since Rain’s Back to the Basic comeback has been delayed until next week, I thought it might be a good time to update you on some of the latest numbers I found for Ninja Assassin.

According to Box Office Mojo, Ninja Assassin has now Raizo’d in a respectable $61,584.491 USD worldwide, and is ranked at #27 on their chart of top-grossing Action-Martial Arts films from 1980 to the present day.

But wait!  There’s more.

Rentrak Corporation’s weekly performance charts lists Ninja Assassin’s DVD sales at # 3 (week of Mar. 14-20) and its Video on Demand sales at #5 (Mar. 15-21).

FYI, the film is greatly enhanced by its Blu-ray presentation.  Whereas I saw mostly shadows during the fight sequences in the theaters, on the DVD things are different.  The ninjas are spectacularly creepy as they slide out of shadows.  The extreme choreography of the action leaves you breathless.  And the gushing blood becomes the highly-stylized, over-the-top effect you just know the movie’s creators intended it to be.

For all you ninja movie and Rain buffs out there, Ninja Assassin is a film you definitely should NOT miss.

Wishing you all many Rainy days,

Terri :-}

Rain’s performances canceled and new album delayed due to the Cheonan tragedy.

•March 31, 2010 • 2 Comments

Rain’s special mini-album Back To The Basic, scheduled for release on April 1st, is being delayed until April 7th out of respect for the community-wide mourning of the Cheonan navel ship tragedy.  Many television music programs set for this week have cancelled in the face of this terrible event, which means that Rain’s B2TB performance on Mnet’s M Countdown (April 1st) is delayed as well.  His Music Bank performance (April 2nd), Music Center performance (April 3rd), and Popular Song performance (April 4th) are also expected to be delayed, but there is no confirmation of that as of yet.

It Rained at the Shanghai Expo count down event.

•March 30, 2010 • 2 Comments

No, it REALLY rained.  Hard.  The skies opened up, there was a complete deluge (i.e. it rained cats and dogs), and the outdoor event stage was so dangerously wet that, as we understand it, Rain slipped and fell during his “Rainism” performance.  Word is, though, he got right back up and continued, and seemed okay.  (We certainly hope he isn’t hurt.  We all know, Clouds, that the only way he would EVER stop any performance is if he were knocked unconscious.)

[ *ETA: I’ve seen the incident and it wasn’t so much a bad fall as it was a hard, disconcerting slip straight down, and very quick.  I don’t think we have to worry about him. ]

Rain’s second song in the set went without a hitch and happened to be, in a broad stroke of irony, “It’s Raining.”  Haha.  (Did he greet the crowd in a Chinese dialect?)  A triumphant end to a performance the weather could have ruined.  Once again, our Magic Feet shows who is Boss.  — Stephe ^@@

This is Rain.

The title track for my special album has finally been released. Its name is ‘The Song To Make You Stay’ (‘Neol Bootjabul Norae’ in Korean).

Unlike my previous images, this is an orthodox ballad song.
I tried to add R&B’s four beat rhythm to the song.

I’m sure you’ll like it.
I hope many of you will love and support me.”

MTV wants YOU–to pick the nominees…

•March 29, 2010 • 6 Comments

[Edited to Add]  Clarification Update:

Hello lovely Clouds.  There seems to be some confusion out there with regard to the 2010 MTV Movie Awards and what we are voting for.  Right now, we are only being asked to vote for the nominees, which haven’t been chosen yet.  The nominee voting will end on April 9th, and then on May 11th, we can start voting for our favorites to WIN.  Right now, Rain is listed in only ONE category:  Best Ass Kicking Star.  But you can still recommend him for other categories by writing in your own vote for him (or your other favorites).  And you can vote more than once too!

Hopefully, this will clear up some of the confusion going around on the Internet about this event.  Don’t forget to cast your votes early and often.  April 9th isn’t that far away!

Terri :-}

Hello lovely Clouds!

Now’s your chance to choose your very own favorite movie/artist nominees for the 2010 MTV Movie Awards!

The categories are:

  • Best Kiss
  • Best Fight
  • Best Villain
  • Best WTF Moment
  • Best Ass Kicking Star
  • Best Scared-As S*it Performance
  • Best Female Breakout Star
  • Best Male Breakout Star
  • best Female Performance
  • Best Male Performance
  • Best Comedic Performance
  • Global Superstar
  • Best Movie

Sign up at MTV.com and then have a terrific time voting for your favorite stars and movies.  I know I did!

FYI, Rain is already suggested as the nominee for one award:  The Best Ass Kicking Star.  I’m sure we Ninja Assassin fans can all agree on that one, hands down.

However, here’s a juicy tip for you.  If you SCROLL DOWN to the bottom of each nominee screen, you’ll find this little device…

…where you can choose your OWN favorite movie/star nominees and ADD them to the list.

This is where I added some of my own yummy favorite picks:

  • For Best Fight:  Ninja Assassin; Rain and Stephen Marcus (Kingpin)
  • For Best Kiss:  Ninja Assassin; Joon Lee and Anna Sawai

AND you can vote more than once too!

The nominee voting ends on April 9.  After the nominees are announced, voting for a winner in each category will start May 11 and run through June 5. But voting for Best Movie will stay open throughout the awards show itself — meaning you’ll have a chance to affect the night’s biggest prize until the very last minute.

Get your votes in early, Clouds.  And then make sure you watch the MTV Movie Awards on June 6, at 9 p.m. EST, to see if any of your favorite stars are winners.

Wishing you many Rainy days,

Terri :-}

Is his name Rain, or Hercules?

•March 28, 2010 • 5 Comments

We had heard that he was going to do this, but seeing as the date was kept hush-hush (I can see why, controlling the crowd was going to be hard enough once Rain hopped out of his transportation and hit the street), we simply waited to see what would happen.  And by George—he actually wrestled!  Way to go, Ji-Hoon!  (Korean-style wrestling, which is reminiscent of Japanese sumo, Greco-Roman, and American amateur, rather than WWE sports entertainment.  Vince McMahon was NOT in The House, folks.)

On the afternoon of March 28th, Rain and four of his dancers, on a mission called the Keep The Promise Project (for KBS 2’s TV show “Seung Seung Jang Goo”, or On The Up and Up), went mano a mano with five real university wrestlers in the center of Seoul’s Myung-dong, as more than 1000 people looked on.

Of course the crowds cheered and clapped as if there were no tomorrow.  And when the tournament was over, Rain had shown real skills and had won all five of his bouts.  How about that?  (The way we understand it, a huge bull and a harp were also involved, but as prizes, not in the wrestling.  Thank goodness.)

The broadcast was recorded, and will be shown on KBS 2 on April 6th.

RAINY DAY Season 2, episode 8.

•March 28, 2010 • 1 Comment

[ *ETA:  A brief English translation of this episode has been kindly posted! ]

Asia broadcast 3/27.  Rain is back in Asia, with MBLAQ, at a Lotte family show and talk event in early November 2009.  Of course, Rain’s charisma with the audience is front and center, whether he is singing, answering questions, or making them laugh.  I cracked up when he totally blew it by starting to sing during the wrong part of “Love Is” (or maybe the music was started in the wrong place?) and his background track suddenly sang OVER him. LOL!  And as usual, his reaction was the best (Ah crap! I did not do that…! well let’s just pick the song up again right here).  He is so darned cute.

So, you have “100 percent body fat” now?  Rain! LOL! — Stephe ^@@^

Thank you for coming here.

I have no particular reason for starting my concert in Japan first. I didn’t intend to do so – I just drifted into it. Actually, I’d had a year to prepare for my concert in Japan, and, well, one thing led to another and preparation for the concert came to start earlier than elsewhere.
