Off like a shot. When Terri and the Cloudmobile pulled up outside my house… there was hardly a cloud in the sky. It was a gorgeous Friday morning, full of promise, as we grabbed a portable breakfast and hit the road out of Atlanta as if we were on fire. Being fans on the way to our very first KPop concert, SMTown Live in NYC, I think that description—on fire—was most appropriate. We had clothing for five days, our equipment, our tickets, accomodations waiting for us when we hit the Big Apple, and our mission—to find KPop and Rain during our merry jaunt.
Who wouldn’t be excited as all get-out?
We left a little later than we’d planned to, and that turned out to be a plus. The Traffic Gods were kind to us and we were able to fly the coup without any trouble at all. Before we knew it, we were at the Georgia/South Carolina line, taking in the splendor of Lake Hartwell, and bookin’ on, with Gayle Terri driving, Oprah me navigating, and Rain singing up a storm. (I want you all to know that I LOVE Terri’s iPod. I have considered marrying it.)

When Rain was about a month into his Back To The Basic comeback, performing three to four music show stages a week, hitting every radio station in Seoul with “Love Song” and “Hip Song”… and he took the time to invite MBC’s Section TV to the gym with him one day? Big thanks to all of you who have donated generously which allowed us to invite 107 boys and girls to The Best Show Seoul Concert on 25 September.
We passed the tickets to the teachers on the day,
and we gave each of them a bag containing sandwich and milk.
Needless to say, they all enjoyed the concert tremendously!
On behalf of all the boys and girls, our sincere thanks to all the donors.

[Male star Rain] I watched Rain filming his last CF before enlisting! Rain, who is a world star, Bi, and ‘Jung Ji Hoon’, is so cool.
The day, 1 October 2011, was when Eun Young’s memorial photographing was done before her wedding. Having a career as a wedding planner has so many advantages, and one of them is pleasing to the eye. Brides are a delight to watch as they look magnificent in their beautiful wedding dresses, they are receiving makeovers beautifully, they are receiving makeovers sitting next to celebrities sometimes, etc.
Lots of celebrities often pass on this Cheongdam-dong street where our shop is located, so I’ve stumbled on them hundreds of times, walking along it.
Anyway, it was a lucky day.
The building that houses our make-up shop has always been like an explosion on the street, deferring not a whit to anything around it, so various shootings take place frequently there.
The day when Jung Ji Hoon or Rain who was about to enlist in the army showed up, I was so nervous that I didn’t know what to do.
When both ‘Eun Young’ and I, huge fans of Rain, made a fuss as if something big had happened, her bridegroom took pictures of him.
Rain looked like he was pretty fit in real life. Since he was wearing figure-hugging jeans, I couldn’t take my eyes off his hip and thigh to die for. So great -.-
I’m just waiting for the TV CF where he appears with the milky-white skin he has.
I remember he also acted very well.

And there is something great to be said about loose white shirts and stage fans blowing on a High setting. Yowza.

The recruits at the 5th Division camp that is next to my friend’s, went through rifle drill at a firing range in his backyard, and Rain, one of them, was also seen doing target practice.
Rain was really something, just like what they had heard, as 19 of a total of 20 targets went down before his shooting.
Rain and my friend have not been assigned to the same unit, but he really wants to see Rain more often by saying, “Rain gave a welcome fillip [flip, maybe? — Stephe ^@@^] to the military life that is pretty dull, which really made my day.”

It is with a ridiculously heavy heart that I view this final episode of RAINY DAY Season 3.
I mean, come on. In the whole scheme of things, this is only little over half of a season (we usually get at least 50 episodes), and there is so much more Rain activity from last year and this year that hasn’t been visited yet, it hardly seems that this would be the end. We are of a mind that perhaps Rain and Mr. Eternal Cameraman had a lot more to do with the post-production editing of the show than we previously thought, if things are coming to a screeching halt with Rain enlisted. Hm. Really, Mnet? What a crying shame. Lame.
Anyway…
We are back on the Best Rain stage, with him launching determinedly into “My Way”, the autobiographical song that he wrote himself some years ago. Wahhhh… the “My Way” montage backing him up on the JumboTron (Baby JiHoon, FanClub JiHoon, debut/Bad Guy JiHoon, “Escaping the Sun” Rain, Legend of Rainism Rain, and his other faces during his ten-year career) is wonderful, what we can see of it. How very, very special.
Ninja Assassin. “Rainism”. Classics meets Pop with Jan Vogler. Rain’s World Tour. “Nan.” His 2010 MTV Badass Award win. The making of the “Love Song” music video in 20-degree weather. ADIEU!2010 with Rain. It’s all there.
Without missing a beat, we trade one show for another and are whisked off to the day of his free street concert (October 9) at the Gangnam Hanryu Festival. One thing that always makes me grin during any concert is the way he plays with the audience. Haha. If they’re not loud enough, if they’re not attentive enough, if they’re too vocal, if he expects a certain answer… one way or another, he’s going to get ’em under his thumb and keep them there. 🙂
After a final look at his Best Seoul concert interview, we are suddenly at the Uijeongbu 306 Troop Battalion gate and JiHoon is enlisting into the military. Over a thousand fans and Media are watching there on the scene, and hundreds of thousands more are watching at home. It is a somber moment indeed, and this footage brings many of the conflicting feelings from that day (October 11) rushing back… and so I absolutely love it when he sticks That Tongue out, with his silly self. kekeke
It’s amazing to see him stand there, with the strength of a lion, as his hyungs and his fans continuously cry and cheer him. He keeps his face from changing until the last moment, when he steps down from the porch and simply can’t take any more of their pain. Bless him.
(Incidentally, I believe his goodbye RAINY DAY message was filmed backstage while he was waiting to go on stage at one of his Live Charity Shows in Japan, this past September.)
How very appropriate that RAINY DAY played “Love Song” as this final installment came to a close. “What can I do? What should I do?” Indeed, that is what Rain has been asking himself while contemplating being separated from all of us, and that is what we’ve all been asking ourselves while thinking about being separated from him. I think that Rain and Clouds have both discovered that what we should do is simply carry on, because everything’s going to be okay. It might not have seemed like it at first… but it certainly looks that way now. 🙂

The Army’s cafe has posted many letters from other trainee solders who are in the same unit as our prince. Some of them mentioned about our prince^^ We gained lots of information from them!

From No. 10 trainee soldier: Jihoon brother, just like the kind brother next door, he is the brother next door ~~ but very cool.
Second letter from No. 10 trainee. He said there is a reward and punishment point system in the army. If you get 15 points per week then you are allowed to make a 3-5 minutes phone call. He only got 7, 8 points this week. In their hall only Jihoon brother got 15 points. He said Jihoon brother is amazing, very kind, very cool. He’s like a brother next door, but outside he is a world star. “I eat and talk by his side.. it’s only possible here..”
From No. 34 trainee: 35 trainee soldiers stay in one large house, so everyday they do things together, like 35 of them going to shower.. He slept close to our prince so he could see our prince’s sleeping face everyday. He said Bi brother is a nice man. Bi brother told them on their graduation ceremony he will sign for all of them, and will take photo with all of them.
Another letter: “Jihoon brother is really nice, just like a kind hearted brother next door… But, wow.. his body is just great… His height may be 185 cm.. totally cool.
There were similar letters about our prince being like a kind hearted brother next door, without the pretentious air of a world star..
Information from Korean fans on the reward/penalty point system:
Each soldier will start with 0 point. To gain points you have to: 1. volunteer to be on duty, 2. transform the boring, restless atmosphere during spiritual education, 3. give up and offer your chocolate pie to others, 4. finish your action loud and sound and fast during training, 5. positive attitude at training.
Korean fans also found out from the letters of other trainee soldiers that our prince was chosen as the leader of trainee soldiers (the leader of the whole Squadron 12 trainee soldiers). So he has to set example for everything. He has to stand up whenever something major happens, and he has to be responsible for many things. He has to provide feedback to the army about his squadron. If anything goes wrong with the squadron, he has to take the blame and penalty. He will get compensation leave, but then he will have to be on night duty.
The squadron leader was by recommendation from the trainees, and then selected if the person agrees.

Hi, KPop and Rain fans!
The bad news is: This 19th episode of KBS World’s K-Wave Station is the show’s final episode. Aww! But the good news is they included a mighty fine Rain report for us to watch, during their News segment. 🙂 The report begins at minute marker 3:15, with a reporter on the scene at the Uijeongbu 306 Station gate. LOL at Mir saying that though MBLAQ isn’t a girl group, they’ll be sure to visit JiHoon in the military with treats. LOL! Haha.
There is a lot of good stuff and idols packed into this final episode, so do enjoy it all!

… including Rain’s upcoming Korean “Top Gun” blockbuster 비상 [飛上]: 태양가까이 (Soar: Into The Sun).
NOTE: Some months ago, I do believe it was 10asia, after a phone call to the movie production company, who translated 비상 [飛上] (Bisang/Bisang in Hangul/Hanja) as Soar. They were the only ones who did so at the time, and I thought to myself, if CJ Entertainment is translating it this way in English, this has to be the closest translation there is. They’re the ones making the darned movie, after all. And so I’ve been waiting to see what their English translations would be like when we got close to promotion time.
I think this makes their intentions quite clear, though I don’t really expect the news outlets or people translating on the Internet to pay it any particular attention: If Rain’s movie was to be marketed to English speakers, the Powers That Be would call it Soar: Into The Sun. Which makes a heck of a lot more sense than the Flight translation, when it comes to describing an emergency flight to save mankind. All planes fly, but fighter jets soar!
All of this doesn’t really affect the movie because in Korea, all movie-goers will see is the Korean title. But thank heavens I can finally put an English title to Rain’s movie that rings true. 🙂
