Anyone who is acquainted with our Japanese Cloud sisters or who follows Rain’s history knows just what a dedicated bunch these ladies are. Their patience in waiting for an updated site during these past several years has been well rewarded indeed. Nice going, Rain! Enjoy your fabulous new site, Cloud Japan! 🙂
Rain’s greetings to the new site. (Video credit: Rain Japan)
(English translation by 화니. Note: He is only speaking to fans in Japan here. ^@@^)
Hello. I am Rain.
How have you been doing?
It seems like forever since we last met.
I hope you are always healthy, and I miss you so much.
And, I have changed my official homepage address.
Hope that many of you will visit the website, and that there will be more interactive features between you and me.
I hope to get a lot of support from you.
I’ll be Rain who does his best.
Thank you.
In Bangkok. Somebody was wanting a latte today. 🙂 Thank you, thank you, THANK you, dear fan, for keeping some distance and not running up on him. ^@@^ (Image credit: Noriko Nakagawa @Facebook, 8/23)

In Guangzhou. The Mentholatum Concept Store events start finishing up with one at the university on 8/21. ^@@^ (There’s the prize wheel too, haha.) (Images credit: The official Mentholatum China micro-blog @weibo)
Rain and crew rehearsing as the festival gets set up. I wish y’all could see my face right now, and I wish I could see all of yours. I’m sure that, collectively, we look something like THIS. Good gravy! SONIC BANG, you are The Bomb. ^@@^ (Images credit: Sonic Bang @Facebook)
Rain’s hyung and suave dancer SooBong tweeted at Incheon Airport yesterday, “오랜만이군.” Which translates to “It’s been a long time” or “It’s been a while.” Aw. Have a blast, kostyle! 🙂
I like that Rain’s car had blacked-out windows, so that he would have all the privacy he wanted while waiting to get going. All too often, that isn’t the case and he has to sit there with his guard up.^@@^ (Fan cam credit: aoi73x2)
Heading off to work, Rain left for Thailand to participate in the Sonic Bang music festival.
On August 22, Rain left for Bangkok through Incheon International Airport. He will be performing at Sonic Bang at the Impact Buang Thong Thani on August 24. He will be returning to Korea on August 25.
Sonic Bang is a large-scale music festival with more than 50,000 audience members. A total of 30 artists from both the East and West will perform, including Jason Mraz, Epik High, Far East Movement, Pet Shop Boys, Owl City, Pitbull, and more.
This will be Rain’s first official event since being dismissed from the army in July.
As posted by overseas fan coordinator huhuhuhu @The Cloud English Talk Board.
Rain’s flight information – 22 August
Rain is scheduled to take KE 651 to Bangkok on 22 August. Arrival time 9:10pm. He will arrive Incheon airport between 3 -3:30pm for his departure. We expect a lot of reporters in both airports as this is his first official appearance after his discharge. We hope as many fans as possible can go to the airports to cheer for him!
According to the official Mentholatum China micro-blog, they are having several days of big events (8/16 — 8/22) surrounding their men’s skincare line. At the Guangzhou University City concept store, a ton of membership gifts—eye drops, lotions, sunscreens, cleansers, shower gels, toners, everything and anything a man needs to keep himself so fresh and so clean like Rain—were available for the asking for their loyal members. They even had a lottery giveaway for students and men who are about to enlist in the military at the university itself. Pretty cool. 🙂 ^@@^
{*Edited to Add 9/2: As you can see below, their own voting terms says “you are allowed one vote per day per award category.” And yet many of us have only been able to vote one time, EVER. Very misleading of you, WMAs. Get your crap together and get it right, thank you. If it’s one vote EVER, then just say that. ^@@^}
Rain is in the World’s Best Male Artist category at the World Music Awards 2013.
You can vote for him ONCE a day with a valid personal email address. (Voting has been going on for several months already. The dates of the voting period and daily voting results are unknown, as the website isn’t very helpful and does not give much information at all.) As we understand it, the WMAs haven’t taken place since 2010, which may be why Rain and other artists who haven’t released music this year are also included. Thanks for supporting Rain, dear fans! 🙂
COMMERCIAL SPOT OF THE WEEK: Rain for Anchor Ice and Hainan Breweries (Heineken International), 2011. CF is near the end of the second video. (Signing, making of, and Rain interview courtesy of Alchemy Partnership, the creative agency in charge of the Rain/Anchor Ice regional campaign.)
Rain is Eternal. Where clouds stay gathered, rain will always come. It is inevitable.
New York Cloud Scorpiola flew to Seoul to support Rain at his official Army discharge, and had an amazing whirlwind of an adventure seeing sites such as Cube Entertainment, RAINY’s old office, the school where SangDoo! Let’s Go To School was filmed, etc., not to mention Sergeant Jung JiHoon as he took his first steps back toward civilian life. She has shared Part 1 of that adventure on her Facebook and on the Rain Legend Forum.
5 Untouchable K-pop Idols: Best of the Best MALE Edition
You can’t reckon with these (K-pop) men.
[RAIN excerpt]
You can try to be Rain, but no one can ever be Rain. Known as the Korean Usher, Rain, was the first male solo star to take the K-pop industry and the rest of Asia by storm. His hit singles, insanely good dance skills, voice, and charm won the hearts of millions. No diehard old school K-pop fan can 100% say they were never affected by the epidemic that was Rainism and if they deny it, know that they are lying to your face.
Now this we can work with, when it comes to posting. This was in L.A. on 8/15 (tip from Terry Yu on Twitter).
By the way, everyone — as we understand it, Mr. Kim is the Los Angeles-based president and CEO of Mnet America, AND the Executive Vice President and Head of Strategic Planning and Business Development for CJ Entertainment America (CJ E&M). And so, with the CJ Group being a huge Rain sponsor these past years, from commercial spots (CJ Foods’ Haechandle, and VIPS, etc.) to movies (CJ Entertainment’sR2B: Return to Base), to social communities (the CJ One Card), to music (CJ/Mnet media) and music videos, to catering (CJ Foods’ Bibigo) and neighborhood kiosks and CJ FoodWorld openings, these two men actually have a lot in common and plenty to talk about. Wonder what’s cooking in the kitchen now? Two handsome guys. Thanks for sharing, Mr. Kim. — Stephe ^@@^
And so, the nebulous photo of Rain below that has been floating around since a Chinese fan on Weibo snapped it at a Chrome Hearts store in L.A. on the 15th has merit. (If that is hair on his neck, it did look at bit long for this short a time frame out from the military, as some fans out there pointed out, and with a language barrier is involved, there was just no way to be sure about the shot all by its lonesome, especially with folks just re-posting it but not talking to the person to confirm anything.) We had good reason to believe that he was over on this side of the ocean puttering around and QUIETLY taking care of bidnez, but there was nothing concrete about that until Mr. Kim tweeted (above, though he took the picture on the 15th, he kindly protected Rain’s privacy and waited until Rain left the States to share it). The fan’s Weibo post, as I understand it, said “WOW…!在chrome hearts 店里遇见Rain!!本人好瘦好帅!!帅到我不敢去要合影好后悔 ! !”, the gist of which is that she saw Rain at Chrome Hearts, he’s so lean, so handsome, and she didn’t dare approach for a better pic. — Stephe ^@@^ (Image credit: sweetmisszhao @Weibo / Tip: ratoka)

This fan took pictures of her friends and Rain at an airport last night. Very cool of her to tweet and share!^^ FYI: This was at Incheon Airport on 8/17. Tip: Terry Yu. 🙂 ^@@^
On stage at his Last of the Best street concert in Gangnam on 10/9/2011… he was talking to Carter, who was in the audience. Well, all right! That is cool. 😀
Revisiting 2010 and Inkigayo: Rain’s rehearsals and pre-recording sessions for music chart comebacks are just as cool as his actual performances. 🙂 ^@@^ (courtesy of terry820625 @YT.)
I remember the very first time Terri and I saw Carter Chen. We had no idea who he was, but we figured he was someone pretty special. And we wondered what the heck he had on his head. 😛 ^@@^
As time went on, we saw that this handsome, talented guy was a true K-Pop fan, had an exuberant personality, was terrific when it came to making videos, could absolutely dance up a storm, and really looked up to Rain. He saw Rain as the total package when it came to a role model, had learned to get through his own difficulties by the way Rain got through his, and concentrated on improving himself as much as possible, the very purpose Rain lived day to day.
We grew to adore Carter because, hey, a guy who had the confidence to join the 8th Cloud, was humble and hardworking, AND wore 비 carved into his hair was tops in our book. For real! ^@@^
The last time we posted about Carter, he and Cloud Taiwan had just been to The BEST Rain Asia Tour’s stop in Taipei. Awesome. ^@@^
He had his camera rolling at the Rain The BEST Show tour stop in Seoul, right before Rain went into the military. Look at that crowd! ^@@^
Carter: Says he especially admires Rain’s strength of character, that he is hardworking and says that it is amazing how he has managed to achieve what he has today…
Mentioned how Rain became the sexiest guy in Korea from the cute little boy during his FanClub times when he was 16 to The RAIN we know now…
Explained that the picture is from BTTB [Back To The Basic] 2010, but we can see how he changed after going to gym since 2004. And he managed to maintain his good physique from 2004 to this day…
Explained that usually after getting into shape, guys can maintain it for about 1 or 2 years but Rain is incredible in maintaining his physique/shape since 2004. “Amazing!”

And why not some Random Rain Goodness, from across the Rainiverse today? 🙂 Big thanks to all the Clouds and fans who shared their JiHoon goodies.
Well, according to 1,295 viewers who participated in a survey on Arirang World’s Facebook page, the list is as follows: #5: The lovely women of SNSD, #4: The phenomenal BigBang, #3: Kang GeunSuk, the prince of Asia, #2: The ever-popular Super Junior, and #1: The man who brought the world to Korean’s front door, World Star RAIN, with 41% of the vote. Truly a great list all around, and make no mistake, Rain’s extensive ten-year resumé leaves NO room for doubt when it comes to his Numero Uno spot, say what you will about him!
Way to go, Jung JiHoon. 🙂 ^@@^

Revisiting 2007: The Rain’s Coming world tour behind the scenes, as reported in China. We love watching these scenes on the DVD. So awesome, the master at work. 🙂 ^@@^ (Courtesy of hung vincet)
In celebration of Rain’s official Army discharge on July 10, his Hungarian Clouds hosted an amazing 비 – Day: Incredible Rain event in Budapest on July 13, in connection with KOFICE (the Korea Foundation for International Culture Exchange).
This event included lectures and presentations about Rain, his fans, his talents, career, milestones, and his effect on the 21st century, plus some serious K-Pop cover dance entertainment.
(There are some English graphics when it comes to subject matter. The video with Rain’s quotes is English-subtitled. If these videos are ever translated into English, they will be delightful indeed, but as they are, I feel that they are still more than worth checking out and an amazing testament to how Rain inspires his Clouds to educate people about him across the world.)
Now, this is how Rain should be represented and reflected, in my humble opinion. Cloud Hungary is doing it well. Thumbs up, sisters! ^@@^
