Wow! Wonderful news, y’all!
Rain (Korean) and Wang Lee Hom (American-Taiwanese) are 2 of 4 honorees to be awarded as entertainment game-changers during this year’s U.S.-Asia Entertainment Summit & Game Changer Awards Dinner on Tuesday, 11/5 in at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles. This is the Summit’s tenth year.
If anyone deserves an award of this caliber, it’s Jung JiHoon. He changed K-Pop. He changed modeling and the definition of beauty. He changed Hollywood’s view. He’s become iconic in the fashion world. And, more. Even today, he is a force that is transforming entertainment and the Asia Society of Southern California agrees.
Rain has a new hashtag, everybody. ๐ #gamechanger
MY TRIVIA: This isn’t the first time Rain and Wang Lee Hom, who also very much deserves this award, have been in the same boat. Rain was featured on Lee Hom’s debut album back in 2005 on the song “Perfect Harmony” (he wasn’t in the MV because of scheduling conflicts, but that voice is rich and unmistakable), and they both participated in the closing ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympics (you can see them together at minute marker 0:27 below).
From the ASSC website:
Asia Society Southern California is pleased to announce Bob WEIS, President, Walt Disney Imagineering; The RAIN (JUNG Ji-Hoon), Actor, K-Pop Singer-Songwriter; WANG Leehom, Singer-Songwriter, Producer, Actor, Film Director; and Wei ZHANG, President, Alibaba Pictures to be honored at November 5, 2019 event.
We continue to enhance our signature program, the most prestigious gathering of deal makers, thought leaders and content creators in American and Asian entertainment. Founded in 2010, the Summit created a forum for Hollywood and Chinese filmmakers to discuss collaboration. Now in its 10th year, we are expanding the focus to encompass trends and forces transforming entertainment โ across all of Asia and beyond film to digital content, music and gaming. The change reflects the evolution of digital technologies and the growing impact of content from Korea, India and Japan, among others, throughout Asia and in the United States. In addition, this year we are introducing the Entertainment Game Changer Awards Dinner, extending the global Asia Societyโs highest honor to the Summit… (con’t)

MY TRIVIA #2: For those of you who don’t know why Rain is referred to as “The RAIN” in the States when it comes to appearances, let me enlighten you.
A Beatles tribute band named “Rain” sued him over the use of his name in the U.S.A. when his first world tour was coming to North America, and by the time the courts ruled on the case, there was no time for the North American leg of Rain’s tour to happen (he was due on the Ninja Assassin movie set in Germany). So, you might say this flippin’ band cheated us out of being with Rain during an amazing concert tour and ruined his official introduction to America.
It took him a long time to get over that. We still aren’t.
Here’s one more award for your crowded shelves, Rain! So proud of you.
