What: The MBC Top 10 Singers Awards for 2003 (MBC_가요대제전/ MBC Gayo Daejejeon). Rain was presented with one of the awards and performed a special stage.
Where: Jangchung Arena, Jung District, Seoul
When: December 31, 2003
How many times it made me want to shout: 13
1) Good lord. With this performance, I got excited just seeing it rain on the gold 비! ahahaha~
2) The first time I saw this was a long time ago, when I was still sort of wet behind the ears when it came to Rain’s “body parts” (hahaha~), so when HE slid out of the bed seconds after the alarm went off, I was stunned that I’d been looking at HIS hand on that clock. I had never seen such beautiful hands on a man in all my life! That still holds true today. No man on this earth has hands like Rain’s. You will always know him by those gorgeous, tapered fingers. It is what it is, folks. (Is it me, or does that clock sound like Scottish bagpipes? LOL)
3) Ahh, 10 days until his performance. And so much cuteness to watch until then, during the countdown. ❤
4) Performance night, at last! Uh-oh, bumper to bumper traffic… will he get to the venue in time? Go, Rain, go now!
5) Whoa, that’s a lot of power, dude. He busted through that curtain and almost came out of his shoe when he landed, haha^^
6) OMG, that heartbeat move! He’s like Liquid Rain. *rewind, watch again* *rewind, watch again*
7) The choreography (안무, an-mu) for all of these dance breaks are on point. Poppin’ and lockin’! Ahhhhhh, so that’s what was up with his shoes. The laces had to be loose so that he could do a shoe switcheroo with KyuSang, haha. Cute.
8) “Do You Love Me or My Fame?” This song always conjures up a special memory of me and my mom rolling into the Walmart parking lot with the car windows down, this song on blast, and us scowling and nodding at everyone we rolled by like we wuz thugs come to shop. “S’up. You lookin’ at me?” Good clean Rain fun. LOL
9) That host was trying to borrow some swag (5:40), haha. Thumbs up. 🙂
10) *delighted scream* Uh-oh! Sitting at the bar and getting a little tipsy, getting ready for the Drunken Master dance (취권댄스), yaaaaaaasssssss
11) It’s “Escaping the Sun” time! “Check this out…” *sunglasses go on*
12) That voice. That voice. That voice!
13) Sexy mini dance break alert! Tick-tockin’ like a clock! I hear ya, fans in the audience! Jung JiHoon! Jung JiHoon! Wahhh— *DEAD*
This truly shows you how long the loyal mainstays of his crew have been with him. I see Hongshi, Park NamYong (he bowed out after Back To The Basic in 2010), “Rainmaker” Tak, and KyuSang here… and let me say I love Kyu’s dreads something fierce. The best crew ever, all of them top choreographers in their own right. This was a special performance, indeed. Bravo, young Rain. ❤
I give you Mr. MBC Top 10 Singer in 2002. And you get to see how the show starts, with the Top 10 all on stage together. And during his stage… dancing with fire, bay-bee! “Bad Guy”, “Instead of Saying Goodbye”, and “Handshake”performed. ^@@^
Three-peat! I give you Mr. MBC Top 10 Singer in 2004. It was hilarious, MBC portraying Rain as wanted by the authorities, keke~ And he looked like an angel in all of that white. The dancing was awesome, that solo dance break was s-w-e-e-t, and his singing pipes wrapped around “Familiar Face” was heaven, even as he fought to get his second wind. What a superstar, master of the chest pump (6:50, second video)! ^@@^

Wow, it’s great! Exactly what I need at 5 a.m., when I can’t sleep :-). There are still so many things I haven’t seen?! I wish I have known him since 2002 so that I could have follown this gorgeous man for all those years…Haha, and yes, his hands! Love your writing, Stephe, thanks!

First, the hands they a beautiful and still are. Second, the falling out of bed (the heart stopped). Oh to wake up to that every morning.(sorry my bad) From then on it was a wild ride through all three videos. What he does with his body is just insane. His talent and energy is electric you can not stay still when he performs. Thank you, I see why this one made you shout that many times. I know I did.
