What: 15th Seoul Music Awards / 서울가요대상 / Seoul Gayo Daesang (Rain won a Bonsang Award for his 3rd album It’s Raining that was determined by top album and digital sales, an online vote, and a final vote by the official SMA judges.)
Where: Kyung Hee University, Crown Concert Hall, College of Music

How many times it made me want to shout: 5
1) Hey, that’s no surprise at all — Rain being presented with a statuette. It is said that when It’s Raining hit, people stopped thinking of him as JYP’s dancer who sings and started thinking of him as an authentic star in his own right. 🙂
2) Love the 3rd album intro to his performance! Tractor trailer doors swing open… paparazzi start snapping away on their cameras.
3) Oh good LAWD that long, tall frame is like a rubber band. Liquid Rain, y’all! Dig this dance break, wow! (Source: maruborarain2)
4) Rain is back, in red and black, my favorite colors! Are you rea-dayyyyyy? haha~ Voice on point. Dancing so on point.
5) Big points for having the “It’s Raining” MV going in the background. It was the second Rain music video I ever saw and threw me further into my discovery of Rain back in the day. I’ve never looked at other singers in any country the same way again.
This performance is short, but oh so sweet and I adore it every bit as much as when I first saw it seven years ago. ❤
(*ETA CORRECTION: I’m just rereading what I wrote, and I’m not sure if by “3rd” the YouTuber means 3rd Cloud term OR the third fan meeting up to that point. Seeing as Rain was only two years out from his 2002 debut… perhaps the latter? Sorry about that! ^@@^)
Bonus #1: Roughly a week or so after the above performance, Rain got together with his official Cloud fan community (3rd term) for a fan meeting (the club is presently in its 9th term… we love being on Cloud 9, get it? keke^^).
Geez, talk about having fun! Clouds got to go on stage and do skits and Rain music video parodies, wow 🙂 His dad was there, as well. Looked like Rain truly enjoyed himself. How amazing to be at an event like that. *wishful thinking* ^@@^ (Source: AlwaysLoveRain)
Bonus #2: Rain also won a Bonsang Award at the 14th Seoul Music Awards the year before for his 2nd album (2004 was a repeat). Here he is doing an “Escaping the Sun” remix at the 2003 event.
