[series][clip] From Stephe’s desk: Rain 비 TV performances that made me wanna shout! (#8)
What: The 2005 Hallyu (Korean Wave) All Star Summit. This event marked the 40th anniversary of the normalization of Korean/Japanese diplomatic ties, and encompassed two concerts starring top South Korean singers and actors. 24,000+ fans attended.
Where: Saitama Super Arena, Saitama Prefecture, Japan
When: 9/24/2005
How many times it made me want to shout: 11
1) Oh, gosh. That outfit. Why does it look so good on him? He’s got legs and arms for days and days. That voice. That smile. The sex-ay.
2) This is during his A Love To Kill K-drama filming era, as I mentioned in a previous post, and oh my stars, he is channeling “Kang Bokgu” yet again and it’s really really working for me. My fan-girling while watching this performance again was utterly ridiculous and out of control. My brother kept yelling down the hallway at me, “Are you okay?” LOL~
3) Wait! Did he brush his shoulder off at minute marker 1:06? Ahahahaha! Yeah, you did that, Rain!
4) Goodness, he’s moving so fast and so fluidly at the same time, like water, knocking that “Bad Guy” choreography out. Follow the bouncing belt buckle…
5) Ahaha! His attitude after his dance break, keke~ Y’all know y’all liked that, I hear ya hollerin’.
6) *gasp* He’s singing “I Do” in Japanese. Awwww *melting* ❤
7) Whisker alert at 5:01! Baby-faced Rain is an awesome sight, but ain’t nothing like a good whisker alert, yes ma’am.
8) He starts laying the Japanese down on them at 5:48, yassssssssss
9) I like how his music videos are being played behind him, and coordinate with the song he’s singing. I didn’t notice that until “It’s Raining”…
10) Just when you think it’s over… it’s time for “Instead of Saying Goodbye.” 🙂
11) At minute marker 13:14, he tells the audience, “アイシテル.” Pronounced aishiteru… “I love you” in Japanese. ❤ All in all, a great performance, packed with lots of energy, personality, and charisma, don’t you think? Thumbs up!
This is usually about the time I throw in some bonuses, but there’s something really weird about this TV performance, peeps. The video in this post and this picture… ↓
…were the only things I could dig up about this event at all. I kid you not. There are no additional clips, no news reports, no fan cams, no media images. And I dug deep. There were a few written articles, one in English from KBS Global and a few in Korean, a picture of Jang Dong Gun on stage, Lee Byung Hun on stage, 2 other actors on stage, Rain on stage, and that massive audience. And the few blog posts had only this same pic of Rain and a screen capture. Very. strange.
So, I went into screen-capping mode. It is what it is.
It is ’bout be time for Performance #9! See y’all then!
