[series][fan cam][7 videos] From Stephe’s desk: Rain’s Japanese songs in the order I like ’em. (Finally #1!)
I’ve always admitted that, even though Rain hypnotizes the heck out of me when singing in his native Korean tongue, when he sings in Japanese, every endorphin in my nervous system melts down like a nuclear reactor. Don’t know why. Can’t figure it out. ❤ It is what it is! Under those circumstances, it’s waaaay past time for me to share with y’all the 15 songs Rain sings in Japanese and English — that I know of — in the order I like them.
I’d love for you to share your favs, too. 🙂
FINALLY! In my #1 spot: The Japanese version of “Love Song”, on his Back To The Basic (2010) mini album’s Japanese edition. *yassssssssssss*
I remember waiting with bated breath, along with everyone else, for fan cams from Rain’s first ZEPP Japan tour back in the summer of 2010. It was such an exciting time and he was his usual workaholic self — winning MTV’s very first Biggest Badass Star Award in Los Angeles, filming The Fugitive: Plan B, doing the ZEPP concert tour, making CFs for the new “Rain” phone for sponsor SK Telesys, etc. When the videos started trickling in, they were awesome. And I was floored because Rain sang “Love Song” completely in Japanese.
Now, I understand he that he recorded it in that language for Back To The Basic‘s Japanese edition, but come on. There’s a world of difference between recording a song in a booth (where you can have notes if you need them) and singing it live in front of native speakers when it’s not your native language…
Add to that the additional stress of being physically exhausted, having to remember his choreography and his blocking, and fans screaming desperately at him all at the same time. All of those distractions invading his brain, and he didn’t miss a beat. How the hell did he do that? ❤
Can you imagine how difficult that had to be for him? I can’t even describe in words how impressed I was, and still am. *speechless*
That voice? Swoon-worthy! Rain wearing his Atlanta ball cap and ice bling? Just gravy, baby!
Audio. Japanese version from the mini album. *melts into a puddle* You can see Japanese/Romanized lyrics HERE, and the original Korean/Romanized/English lyrics HERE in our Rain Discography.
Of course, I adore the original Korean version of “Love Song” too. It would be hard not to! So… let’s close out this series with some Random Rain Goodness and have fun with my favorite “Love Song” reactions out there AND revisit the making of the music video. Throwback time! 🙂
Multifacetedacg. “Imma hold on ta this table.”
The Jess Lyfe. “Jesus, be a Pause Button.”
MyMomReactsToKPop. “That’s a specimen, ladies.”
Making of the MV special, April 2010. Rain with Han Ye Seul, with his dance crew, and on his own. In mid-March, it was still wintertime in Korea and it was 20 degrees Fahrenheit on the streets. Rain was freezing his butt off. Oh, the memories! ❤ (Courtesy of scorpiolabi)
I hope y’all enjoyed this series. I truly appreciate your understanding when it came to the delays — my health simply has not been well this year, and there’s no use in me sugar-coating that. It’s been rough. But I’m hanging in there, so please don’t worry. Everything’s okay.
I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for another series! *getting busy*

Thanks for posting the videos and the “making of” videos.
I’m sure you guys have discussed this before, but since I’m new to the Clouds and have had no one to discuss Rain or Kdramaland with since I discovered this other world two years ago. ..
…what is the consensus – is Rain’s character a ghost? Or is he alive but reliving past attempts to reconcile with her so his spirit (although he’s alive) is haunting her? If he’s completely alive, why can’t she see him? Is it just symbolic that she refuses to see him?

You’re welcome.
I’ve always been under the impression by stuff he’s said in old interviews that he’s definitely alive, in her house, reliving their relationship because he can’t let go. She’s alive too, but broke up with him and no longer lives there. When he’s in white, he’s remembering their happy times. When he’s in black, she’s only in his imagination and he’s trying to get her attention. “Love Song” is the official English name of the song, but the official Korean name translates to “the song to make you stay.” If you haven’t seen the English lyrics, you can read them here (http://www.cloudusa.org/006-trk1lovesong.html) She left him, no longer lives in the house and he prowls around it all the time, remembering her in all the rooms. She’s the one who isn’t there. The song apparently wasn’t enough to make her stay, aww! (What the heck was wrong with her??? I mean, it’s Rain! LOL)
Other people might interpret it in other ways, but as far as I know, that’s the gist. 🙂 Glad you found your way here… have a good Thursday.

LOL at the fan singing along with him. Although, if I had paid for tickets and had to sit near her…
BTW, what it is that fans seem to chant at him in every concert? It’s three syllables and seems to be similar whether Korean or Japanese. It happens in this video around 1:49 minutes.

Hi, Beez. 🙂 Nice to meet you.
LOL~ Yeah, see, that’s what had me cracking up, he was in Japan, singing in Japanese to a venue full of Japanese Clouds, and those couple of fans were singing along in Korean, ahaha. They were probably Korean Clouds, but still… just cute. ^_^
They are chanting his real name, Jung JiHoon. (First name JiHoon, last name Jung)
