[clip] More of Rain and his Fabulous Ones at the Chengdu Automotive Music Festival. (6/15)

94I grinned all the way through this terrific performance again.

Couldn’t help it, especially when Rain botched up “I Do” just a little and the Fab Ones laughed, which made him laugh, which made me laugh. 😀

And, I don’t think I said it before, but I’m really proud of the way they all handled that very determined fan.

They saw her coming long before we did, and Big_K (Gori) was on it, with the others backing him up. You could tell right away that he didn’t want to knock her down, he wanted to slow her down so she didn’t hurt herself or hurt Rain. (Nicely done, dude!)

Rain was his usual gallant self and graciously took her gift and showed her to the stairs after forcefully preventing her from being manhandled by security, which was pretty cool. I’m not blaming security though—dude was only doing his job. Rain getting hurt by someone (either accidentally or on purpose) would have been on his head, and he had no idea what the girl had on her, if you know what I mean.

Those types of situations are just plain scary, aren’t they?

Good job, guys. Nice going, Rain. ♥ ^@@^

  1. I agree and respect both opinions BUT my thought is the fangirl should have been stopped in her tracks, the gift taken by security (to inspect it) and the fangirl taken off stage. That was a very dangerous situation. She could be the type of fan thinking, “If I can’t have you, nobody can.” You have to look at this type of situation that way and every way to keep Rain safe. How in the world did she get up there anyway. I would love to get next to Rain in the worse way, but I will never make him feel unsafe. Rain usually invites a fan up on stage with him so hopefully in the future, his fans will remember that and wait for him to make the invite. That way we all know that Rain feels safe enough to do this.

    • Well said, Kerry. No doubt, the security man was having a coronary because of just what you said. It would only take a split second for something to happen to Rain. I wish fans would start putting his safety before their needs.

Agree with you 100%. I think as fans we have to remember he is a person. Rain entertains us but Jung Ji Hoon the person who presents Rain the entertainer deserves to have our respect, including his right not to have one of us approach him in an inappropriate way, take pictures of him, or bother him at certain times, an example would be when he is out eating. I want him to connect with us, but I don’t want to see him have to distance himself from us due to security concerns. It is so easy to get carried away when we meet someone famous that we truly like, but we need to be careful not to be disrespectful and cross boundaries.

    • Absolutely! In the past, I’ve had the opportunity to get autographs, etc. of a couple celeb favs. Just by us talking about Rain’s issues with the public on this blog, I realized how I had approached at least one of those celebs inappropriately in the past.

That example is when I was 16 and met Janet Jackson (also 16 at the time…..yep…a long dang time ago…LOL) at an amusement park event. It was an autograph signing event. Once the event was over, my friend and I waited on the side where she was to exit the stage. When she came our way and was right in front of me, I yelled her name and as she turned my way I clicked her pic…right in her face. As a teen, I was on cloud nine because I achieved my goal of getting her pic (I had already gotten her autograph at the event). However, the look that came on her face after I clicked that pic made me feel really bad. It also made me realize almost immediately that what I had just done was so Not appropriate. I have remembered that all these years later.

I’m a fan true enough and do get excited when talking about, thinking about my bias. However, even as a fan, you can’t ever forget the REALITY of fandom. There are definite do’s and don’ts. I try to always be cognizant of them. Hey, I want my “Bi moment” someday….I don’t need these crazies messing it up for the rest of us. *SMILES*……………………

    • English Translation of Lyly’s comment:

I strongly agree that was a super performance by our Rain!!
But the fangirl that ran up on (onstage), I still wonder how she managed to get up there and run to him?
The important thing is that nothing came of it, but he should be wary of anti fans, they scare me!

      Thank you for your work!

  4. You know…….maybe I’m in the minority here (regarding my opinion)….But will it actually take him getting physically injured before people quit saying…..”Ah, the sweet little fangirl, so glad she didn’t get body slammed.” “Oh, he’s so nice to his fans when they run up on him unexpectedly like that, so sweet”……..yeah until one of them makes him bleed one day.

Let him get injured, then what will people say then? Hey I get it…..several things are at play here. All having to do with image and public relations……I get that side of things, truly I do. However, I think people really do it (run up on him) because they know they can get away with it. I don’t think it’s cute or cool…….it’s damned dangerous. People are nuts these days…..see if you can pick out which one is or isn’t in the crowd. *Just Saying*

Hey, I’d love an autograph or a quick pic from him someday, but running up on him like that isn’t the way to do it (IMHO).

Just hope he doesn’t let it go too far.

    • BiAlamode,

I totally get what you are saying, and I agree with you. But he’s in a tough spot, isn’t he? It’s true that if you give ’em an inch and they’ll take a mile. But if he lets security manhandle these fans, then I guarantee it would backfire on him. He would be called a prima donna and picked at mercilessly for his “insensitivity.”

Not that I think that’s the reason he’s being kind to these overzealous fans. It looks like he honestly doesn’t want any harm to come to them. At least, that’s what it looks like to me. The concerned look in his eyes, his consternation with security, and the tone of his voice (when we hear it like we did in this clip) seems quite sincere. But I’m with you. I certainly don’t want him hurt either.

The dependability of security depends a great deal on the event organizers. This was an automotive festival. These typically don’t have deep layered security. So, although there was security there, I doubt they were really prepared for the level of security that Rain needed. I wondered about that when I saw him being scheduled for these types of events. Sigh.

      • True that. It’s unfortunate that he can be easily “branded” with whatever “nutbuckets” online want to say. However, I still stand by my original thoughts. Security just really needs to stop the “run-up-on-him” fans, it’s not safe. I’m no celebrity, but I put myself (mentally) in that position…..it would scare me to death. Some strange person I don’t know running at me full speed. It really is a scary proposition.

Also, I think he’s being kind because that’s just who he is a person, but he really needs to re-think his whole security situation.

This coming from someone who has never met him and wants to in a MAJOR way……LOL! So, I just may be talking myself out of a prime opportunity as he ramps up security huh ? *SMILES*………………

  5. Love RainRain’s performances. LOL on the mess ups as well. Happy he always make time for his fans. It is true, you don’t know what happens or will happen until does. Glad all worked out. Thanks for sharing

  6. Great performance, as always.

He sure doesn’t like that right in-ear monitor, does he? Nine times out of 10 he’s yanking that thing out. There were also other sound issues, which he handled well.

LOL @ the screw up of “I Do, I Do.”

And that little fangirl! Boy, she was persistent wasn’t she? She gave him her gift and STILL came back to try and get at him again. Wow. That could have gone terribly wrong. But the boys handled it SO well.

I’m really glad Rain stopped security from manhandling her. When I first saw her running up there, that was one of my first concerns, that security would hurt her. Not intentionally, of course, but security guards are always tough in situations like that–as well they should be, because you never know what’s really going on before you can assess the situation. With all of these anti- and sasaeng fans running around, you never know.
