Yeah. No kidding. Unfortunately, I doubt we will get to see these dances of his, because I’m pretty sure he will leave the Army as quietly as he can.

And technically he’ll never totally “free” of the ROK Army. Still, he’ll be a heck of a lot freer on July 10th than he his now fo sho.

    • He’ll never be free technically?.?

      • Well, no one is ever “technically” free of military service.

Even my Ex, who was in the U.S. Army, was still required to be placed in the Independent Ready Reserves after his honorable discharge, even though he wanted absolutely nothing more to do with the military EVER. His words were, “Once the Army has you, you’re theirs–forever.” And our armed forces here in the USA are “volunteer” armed forces. (So to speak, of course.)

It’s my understanding that the ROK Army has a similar requirement of their recruits. So, Rain will probably have to join up with some type of “reserve” force and be required to do some kind of intermittent training in the name of “keeping up his military skills.” I don’t know what type of requirements those will be though. It likely won’t be anything much, but it will be something.

All my Ex was required to do was take a physical and pass a physical training test every so often to prove he was in fighting shape. That was all. But he was not in the Active Reserves either. Those guys still have to train a lot. My current manager at work is in the active reserves, and he’s has to go train one weekend every month, and then do a longer tour every so often. In 2010 he was actually sent to Iraq for six months. And he’s in the RESERVES. Crazy.

Then again, I could be totally wrong. But I’m funny. I don’t trust the military any farther than I can throw them. Which I can’t. So. LOL.

        • I would say that is true. Hubby did at least 2 to 3 years reserve duty after he was honorably discharged as well. You have too. Hubby was in active reserves though. So he had to go to reserve duty at least one weekend a month and a two week stint once a year (from what I remember). He’s no longer active though. Also, if war breaks out (HEAVEN FORBID) the military will call up their active duty soldiers first and then active duty reserve soldiers would be the next line of soldiers on tap to serve if situations called for them to. That’s just the life of the military. Unless things have changed.
