Thanks Stephe for the explanation for the patch. Me and my Baptist background was seriously scratching my heard when I read what that patch said. I was like huh? I knew something was lost in cultural translation for me. LOL. Thanks for the translation of what Rain was saying. I still didn’t figure out what he said when the fans all answered “Rain”. What ever he asked them it made him happy to hear them call his name. As always all that screaming put a big smile on his face too.

You’re welcome. The patch is all about evolving into a new, better person through military service. It has nothing to do with religion, but then I never thought it did anyway (even with my Baptist background).

At first I didn’t think it was because what a soldier puts on the front of their uniform usually deals with the military but I wasn’t sure if S. Korea did something different in their military so I just kept an open mind either way. So did this patch show up because he is now the squad leader?

I’m not sure. I know I haven’t ever noticed it on his uniform before now, but looking at pictures of other celebs that have been squad leaders, I haven’t run across the patch on their uniforms either, so far. Maybe it’s just a new thing. Or reserved for special occasions. I guess if we all watch to see if Rain or any other squad commanders wear it from now on, we might be able to figure it out…

Good question. No idea why the patch was added. There’s gotta be some reason though.

I didn’t see it on his uniform for the March 22 performance. Then again there were a few things quite different about that performance. Something’s up.
