Please Participate in Rain’s D-200 and D-199 Day Events!

D200Day

~ Cloud cover by Terri :-}, Managing Editor

[EDITED TO ADD:  Twitter Trending Event Information]

How to participate in Rain’s D-200 and D-199 Day Twitter Trending Events.

On December 22 and December 23, right before the @speeding967 (Speeding Instinct) radio show begins:

1. Sign into your Twitter account and get ready to start tweeting. If you don’t have a Twitter account, you can create an account on http://www.twitter.com)

2. Compose your tweet by adding a ♥ to the beginning of every tweet and a #RAINs200 hash-tag somewhere in every tweet.

3. Make sure to mention @speeding967 somewhere in your tweet too, so that your tweets will appear on the radio show’s (@speeding967) Twitter timeline.

4. Tweet Examples:
@speeding967 ♥it is D-200 until your comeback #RAINs200
♥RAIN we are counting the days until you comeback to us #RAINs200 @speeding967
#RAINs200 ♥hope you are having a great holiday for Christmas @speeding967

5. Retweet others’ messages. Retweet your own messages again if you can’t think of things to say. As long as your tweet has #RAINs200 as a hashtag in it somewhere, your tweet will count.

6.  To tweet faster, instead of composing a lot of tweet yourself, you can click on the hashtag #RAINs199 and retweet the “Top Tweet” you see there. OR you can open another tab or window in your Internet Browser (in Twitter), search for the hashtag #RAINs199, and then retweet from the search results. Retweeting the#RAINs199 “Top Tweets” will trend faster than trying to compose your own unique tweets. (Thanks to Jenny from Rain Indonesia for sharing her experience on this with us)

7. You can tweet in your own language (you don’t need to use English) as long as you add #RAINs200, in English, Twitter will count it as part of the trending.

8. Tweet or retweet your messages steadily, but not TOO fast, because Twitter has hourly and daily tweet limits, and Twitter will freeze your account for several hours after reaching its limits. You can create and use more than 1 Twitter account for trending. See https://support.twitter.com/articles/15364-about-twitter-limits-update-api-dm-and-following# for more information on tweet limits.

For help on Twitter and to switch language & info, go to: https://support.twitter.com/

For more information on how to tune in to Rain and KCM’s Speeding Instinct radio show, visit Cloud USA’s homepage at http://cloudusa.org/. (Or you can just click on the image at the bottom of this post.  That’ll work too, if you’re technologically savvy or have tuned in before.)

Hello Lovely Clouds.

Okay, here’s the drill on Rain’s D-200 Day Events.

In case you don’t know, D-200 Day stands for Discharge-200 day, which means that on December 22, 2012, Rain will have only 200 days left before he will be discharged from the ROK Army.  (FYI, for those of you who have been living under a rock, Rain’s official release date from the ROK Army is July 10, 2013.)

If you are a paid-up member of Rain’s official fan club (In other words, if you are an 8th Cloud of The Cloud fan club, in Korea), then here’s how to leave your message for RAIN:

  1. Go to the following member’s thread on The Cloud’s fan site:  http://rain-cloud.co.kr/board/view.asp?mstSeq=23&mstpSeq=&bcmSeq=8&seq=53748&page=1&searchType=title&searchStr=.  (Please note:  You have to be signed into The Cloud’s fansite to see this message.)
  2. Read the English translation and the subsequent discussion to get up to speed.
  3. Reply to the thread with a ♥ and then a very brief uplifting message for Rain.  (Your message must be 100 characters or less, including the heart symbol, your country and your CloudID.)
  4. All messages by Overseas Official Cloud members will be delivered on 12/21/12, which is TOMORROW in Korea and a day before his D-200 Day. (A couple of them are already up—one from us at Cloud USA, by the way.  :-})
  5. YES, you may post more than one message for Rain.  (And as of this posting there were only TWO English messages over on DEMA.  So, please hop to it, 8th Cloud members!  You don’t want to miss this opportunity.
  6. If you want to see the messages on DEMA yourself, you can do that by visiting http://dema.mil.kr/.  On their home page, scroll down a little bit.  On the left you will see a slideshow of all of the Entertainment Division’s soldiers.  Use the arrows or the plus sign to look for Rain’s photo.  Click on Rain’s photo and you will be taken to his bio and his message board.  Please don’t try to post there.  You have to have a Korean ID (something like a SSN) to post there.  So, unless you live in Korea and have a Korean National ID number, then you won’t be able to post a message yourself.  That is why The Cloud members in Korea have kindly offered to post messages for The Cloud’s global members who can’t post messages themselves.  Aren’t they totally awesome?  We think so.  :-}

But WAIT!  Oh NO!  What if you are NOT an official member of The Cloud?

Never fear!  You can still send a message to Rain during two Discharge Day Twitter trending events.  Please visit this link on The Cloud’s fansite for all of the details on both Twitter Trending events (D-200 Day and D-199 Day):
http://rain-cloud.co.kr/board/view.asp?mstSeq=14&mstpSeq=17&bcmSeq=6&seq=53751&page=1&searchType=title&searchStr=.  Please note that you have to be signed into the fansite to access the link.

What?  You haven’t joined The Cloud’s fansite yet?  Why the heck NOT?  The Cloud is Rain’s official and hometown fan club, and The Cloud’s fansite is a great place to meet Clouds from all over the world.  They even have a “World Cloud” section and an “English Talk” board, which is where the instructions for these two Twitter Trending events are posted, by the way.  There is also a “Letter Board” there, where you can write your own letter directly to Rain.

You do NOT have to be a member of The Cloud (a member of the 8th Cloud) to join The Cloud’s fansite.  Registration is FREE and will give you access to the public areas of the fansite.  For detailed instructions on how to join The Cloud’s fansite, please go HERE.

So, get on it, Clouds.  Time is of the essence!

Terri :-}

    • That was a lot of fun….I’m sleepy beyond belief but I enjoyed the Twitter Rain event. Some of those comments by Clouds were so funny and that radio program was just hilarious….and I don’t understand Korean. I can’t wait for the translation.

      • Awesome to hear there were 3,000 tweets on D-200. You are right that was was hilarious, their laughter is so infectious. Am I right to say that the soldier speaking was not KCM as it did not sound like him and can’t wait to find out what the topic was that made them laugh so much….
        Do we know if indeed last night and today are live shows?
        Here is hoping that they would sing acapella on air again, what a treat that would be.
        Fun hanging out on twitter. I have to start following more Clouds.

          You are right, that wasn’t KCM. Stephe knew right away, but I’m not as good with voices as she is. So, I didn’t catch it until later in the broadcast. Rain’s co-host last night was Lee Sang Cheol. Apparently, KCM had something to do.

          I think they are live this week. Does anyone else know? Stephe probably does. Maybe she’ll chime in at some point…

          • Well, so far, Speeding hasn’t said anything to indicate that tonight would be prerecorded, so I’m assuming it’s going to be live like last night. It would stand to reason that Rain would do a live show before Christmas anyway, but hey, you never know.

  3. I can’t even enter The Cloud. They sent me an email on october saying that the ID and password were re_1111 but I followed those instructions and I still can’t get in. 😦 But when I tried the page to find the ID, it said my original ID. Then when I asked for the password in the same page, then the answer is scrambled. I’m confused! I sent an email to Rain Cloud Ivy8112@naver.com but no answer yet. To tell the truth, I’m pissed cuz is true my last time in The Cloud was in August and that they change the whole site after that but why change the ID and password? This happened to all of you? I guess the only way I will be able to send a message is out of The Cloud. Sighh But anyways, I have to find a way to enter The Cloud. Any suggestions?

      Here in Atlanta, it will be 10-12 PM Eastern Standard Time. So, in California, yes, it will be tonight and tomorrow night, from 7-9 PM. So, if you aren’t working tonight, then you can participate then, right?

      Remember it is already the 22nd over in Korea now.

        • Yes, we will be tweeting on Twitter. NOT on the Speeding Instinct official site. And yes as long as the proper #hashtag is in the tweet somewhere, your tweet will count in the trending event.

    well that work also ??

    • Kongsao,

      Yes, that would work, but you only need to put @speeding967 once? You have it at the beginning and the end?

      And that’s the 22nd and 23rd Korea Standard Time. So, that is tonight here in the States. We will tweet while we are all listening to the show. Except instead of just chatting with each other and being silly, we will be Twitter trending?

      Does that makes sense?

  8. You know?

    I get asked all the time why we keep pushing people to join The Cloud. Just got another e-mail last night. That is really frustrating to me, because I just don’t understand why people don’t get it. Let me just go ahead and say it here again, publicly, so maybe more people will see it and understand.

    First, (and I know I can speak for Stephe here too, because we’ve talked a lot about this) we get a lot of satisfaction from knowing we actually belong to Rain’s “official” fan club and that we are actually being counted as an “official” fan, because we know “official” numbers mean a lot to an entertainer’s career. Second, we have made many new and wonderful friends in Korea and all over the world by becoming a member of The Cloud. Clouds are simply awesome people and they live everywhere. :-}

    You think it’s tough to maneuver around on the fansite now? Well, you should have seen it several years ago, when even the “joining” instructions were mostly in Hangul and had to be translated by caring members of The Cloud for all of us. Now, at least, they have a huge JOIN button in English and the entire joining process is extremely clear-cut.

    The Cloud and Rainy Entertainment has worked very HARD to make the fansite more inviting to global fans. They have even provided us with an English Talk board and with the new website they have even added translation functions, so that members of the fansite who are able can translate posts and discussions into other languages. You don’t know how excited I was when I saw that translation function. Really.

    So, it is disconcerting when I hear people say it’s “too hard” to join The Cloud’s fansite or they just don’t see the need to belong to Rain’s “official” fan club.

    Seriously?

    Well, I have a question for you. Do you want Rain to come over to the U.S.A. and entertain us live on a REGULAR basis? If so, then we are really going to have to step up our game, U.S. Clouds. We have simply GOT to get our “official” and countable numbers a heck of a lot higher than they are right now and start being counted where it matters the most–in Rain’s world in Korea.

    And that, my dears, is simply the bottom line.

    • Hey I feel you Terri, I don’t know how many Clouds still frequent the blog from the time I first started (I don’t see a lot of those aliases anymore) but I do remember how it was in the beginning. *SMILES*

      I believe it was Rose Hoong who used to translate instructions, etc. for us quite a bit in the beginning. She really wanted us to be Included. As a American consumer (generally speaking), I was HELLA impressed that this foreign entity Actually Listened and Heard our complaints (mostly frustrations) and did indeed make things easier for us. Even in the beginning, for those who don’t know, some of us did have reservations (myself included) about joining The Cloud and they even made THAT issue go away. I have nothing but respect for how the Cloud Board made things so much easier. They really could have said “screw it” this is too much to try and include Western fans on this site, but they didn’t do that.

      There has been many an American business that has (and WILL) do that in a heart beat (say “screw it”). Even Rainy Entertainment has come a LONG way in improving Rain’s “company site” for English speakers. As I’ve said many times before (being among some of the first Cloud USA-ers), I will be a Cloud until I’m not. I will always try my best to participate, to the extent that I can whenever I can. I know “I” want Bi to work over here in a major way. I want to see him spread his entertainment wings like he obviously wants to. Hey, membership comes with perks too! We even got a t-shirt with a design hand-drawn by Bi himself (even if I can barely get “the girls” in that thing). It’s a perk and I loved it. It’s also gratifying to see the entertainer you admire actually interact WITH his fan club….accept gifts directly from it’s members. There is not one damned fan club in the U.S. where that happens. At least, I’ve never seen it. This is another thing I came to admire about the Korean “fan club culture” (if you will).

      I hope whatever reservations potential members have, they will have a change of heart. Goodness knows I did. *SMILES*…………………..

      • Thank you, BiAlamode. You are an awesomely amazing person. And you comments are spot on.

        There is nothing in the world like Rain and his fan club. And although the Korean fan club culture has its odd moments, you are right that there’s a lot to admire about it.

        Celebrity conceit and the lack of appreciation that U.S. celebrities have for their fans is distasteful and is one of the reasons I have never been interested in following any of our American celebrities.

        And as far as talent management companies go, Rainy Entertainment is a real breath of fresh air. Seriously.

So when IS that next membership drive for Cloud fans? I’ve wondered for a minute if Clouds with paid memberships had access to parts of that website I could not see.

    Like

    • Alisa,

      Yes, there are restricted member pages. And you feel like you are sitting in the cheap seats because you are. LOL. We were sitting there for a long time ourselves before we could join too. So, please don’t feel bad.

      There are just as many non-member Clouds over on the fansite as there are members, actually (The userID’s that have “gray” clouds by them are clouds who are not paid-up members of The Cloud). There are also quite a few areas on the fansite that are wide open. There are actually more places to read if you aren’t a member than if you are, actually. Now that I think about it.

      Unfortunately, we don’t know when the next membership drive will be. We expect that it might be sometime after he is out of the military, but that’s just speculation on our part, because that is what makes the most sense.

      For overseas fans, belonging to The Cloud doesn’t mean as much as it does if you are Korean and living in Korea, so to speak. By that I mean, we don’t get to participate in all of the super fan club activities they have for Rain over there, simply because we don’t live there and his activities in the West are still very limited–mainly because he is Korea’s star, not ours, right?

      What we do get from being a member of The Cloud, however, is a small gift and membership card and a real sense of satisfaction knowing that when we join their club, we become an “official” Cloud. And that means that our numbers here in the U.S.A. can finally be “counted” by Rain’s management. And if we ever want to get him over here to do any serious activities, we have to COUNT. Because, frankly, entertainment is a business and in business numbers MATTER.

      FYI, the last membership fee for the 8th Cloud (the 8th year that Rain’s fan club was in existence) was $55.00.

      Terri :-}

      • Thanks Terri. Official or unofficial it’s all good. The important thing… for me anyways ….is to be a member of the site and have the opportunity to post encouraging stuff to Rain especially while he is in the military. That truly was the main reason I joined the site. To let him know there was another fan of his in the U.S. supporting him and cheering him on in my own unique Alisa kinda of way 😀
