SONG OF THE WEEK: “Only You”, Track 3 on Rain’s Vol. 5 album Rainism (2008). Enjoy this December 2008 Inkigayo performance of the song, when “Rainism” was still fresh and Rain was still Raizo-thin. They had to take a couple of lines out, probably due to time constraints, but nevertheless it is still a gorgeous song made oh so special by his charm.

The comments by Michel Morganella came hours after Switzerland lost to South Korea…….what a sore loser! Why did he deem it necessary to use such a negative expression about another ethnic group? (because we are all one race—–the human race) I do understand that there are 3 major races mentioned in biology and anthropology studies with specific names for each, but that wasn’t the meaning used in his tweet. First the flag mixup for the North Koreans and now this inflammatory statement about South Koreans………ugh

You know….not to make this a religious thing, BUT there’s a verse in the bible that says “So a man thinketh, so is he” and it always comes to my mind when I hear things like this. Apologize for what really? That racist BS is still within your heart. So what is your apology really worth? I’ll tell ya….not two @hits!
Nobody just “snaps” and says these racist things, it’s ALREADY in that person’s heart of hearts….their soul. This is why politicians will always have to legislate “doing the right thing” because of attitudes like his. Doing the right thing requires having the right “spirit” within in the first place. The whole idea of true dignified sportsmanship is quite lost really on a lot of people not just that guy. He and the female Greek athlete just happened to be the ones to get caught. If you lose, suck it up and be a true sportsman/woman and represent your country with dignity even in the face of defeat. That’s what the Olympics is supposed to be all about.

Amen! Mr. Morganella went to the Olympics with a huge ego and left his sportmanship at home. Is sad, really, because he came back to his country with shame instead of a medal. People forget that Twitter, Facebook and other media services are open to everyone and you should think twice before making any comments there. Specially if they have anything to do with race.

you are so right Marisara! “shame instead of a medal”! Perhaps the team trainers/sponsors need to get in a few sessions on “sportsmanship” with the athletes before they participate on the world stage in the Olympics. Notice I said “world stage”………..everyone sees your behavior on TV and you spread your bigotry even further by using social media—-which is not the brightest move because the internet lets the world know how much of an idiot you are at warp speed…(guess he won’t be on the front of a cereal box)…..#onmynerves.com

I guess he won’t be in a cereal box or in any other marketing campaing at least for a while!! I hope he has some money under the bed cuz he’s gonna need it. I also hope he learn the lesson and keep his mouth close from now on. Is so sad cuz his abilities as an athlete are diminished by his big mouth. 😦
