I’m A Cyborg, but That’s OK & Other CJ&M ENT Films Streaming on Netflix

~Cloud Cover by Terri :-}, Managing Editor

Okay, Clouds.

Remember when somewhere someone somewhere hinted that CJ Entertainment and Netflix was about to be in cahoots with each other?  Just in case you don’t recall, it was mentioned on Kobiz (Korean Film Biz Zone) RIGHT HERE.

Well.  Since I am a Netflix  customer, I’ve been checking off and on for these films to pop up.  And tonight, lo and behold, what do I find?  This lovely little jewel…

…in Netflix’s Instant Play section.

Of course, I immediately added it to my Instant Play queue.  And since I’m off tomorrow, I just might spend a little time revisiting this delightful little romantic comedy.

In spite of winning the Alfred Bauer Award at the 57th Berlin International Film Festival (and being selected as the opening film for the Hong Kong International Film and winning Rain a Best New Actor Award at the 43rd Baeksang Awards), Cyborg was largely overlooked by moviegoers everywhere, which was a crying shame, because this film was one that likely could have resonated with many viewers if they had only given it half a chance.  But they didn’t—not in South Korea or anywhere else for that matter—especially not in the U.S., where the promotion of this film was much too little and came far too late.

What’s amazing to me (not as a Rain fan, but as a writer) is that so many reviewers who arbitrarily panned this film totally missed that the brilliance of it, which was in Park Chan-wook’s understated, comedic presentation of a cast of characters who, as far as they were concerned, were totally sane—but totally weren’t.  Seriously.

By the way, there are 1600+ foreign films over at Netflix for your viewing pleasure, so have fun trying to decide which one you are going to watch after you watch Cyborg, okay?

Oooh.

  2. Terri, I like you am a subscriber of Netflix. When I saw that they were including Kdramas to their line-ups (BBF was the first), I called them personally back in January and thanked them first for widening their selections of movies, t.v. shows and such, and then I was told to send in a list of kdramas that I would like to be included in their selections. They are very open to your requests. All you have to do is go to the bottom of your Netflix account page and their is a link for you to share your feedback. Their sent me an email and thanked me for my suggestions and low and behold I started seeing more and more dramas being added. When I saw ” I’m a Cyborg but that’ ok”, I flipped out. Remember to rate them well so that they will continue to add more.

Also, now Hulu Plus has added Dramafever’s programs to their line-ups so you can watch them via you PS3, Wii or T.V. that receives a wireless signal.

Love to all of our Clouds,

    • MommieLynn,

Wow! Good information to have. I also spoke to Netflix long ago, as well as DishTV, and asked them for more Korean dramas/movies and channels. They were both very positive about my request, but that was a long time ago. I will have to e-mail Netflix and tell them thanks. Let me do that now before I forget…
