Rain on vacation
Rain has had a vacation from the Army. His first since he was conscripted, the vacation was kept away from the media until the Hallyu singer returned to the barracks. A representative from the Army told Sports Hankook that “Private Jung Ji-hoon was on vacation from Feb.9 until Feb.16, having been awarded some extra vacation time on top of his five days leave he accrued for his 100 days in the Army”.
On his first vacation, Rain spent the time at home, indulging in the food he craves as well as spending time with close friends and family members. “He did what every serviceman does on their first break, just enjoying home-cooked meals and resting,” said a representative of the entertainer.
It was assumed that Rain kept an extra low profile, never setting a foot outside his front door while on break.
Rain started his national military service on Oct. 11 last year and due to his excellent state of health and fitness was accepted in the Special Forces.

Oh my goodness, Rain is The Man, no doubts about it!! 😀 I think he’s doing things this way first, cuz as Pinkfashionninja well said, he’s well aware that his Clouds are loyal and they aren’t going anywhere! I mean, he receives 1,000 letters a day!! But I think, this is my view so I can be wrong, that he’s showing respect to his fellow soldiers mates as well. These young men leave everything behind to enter ROK Army and they stop their lives to do this. It would look bad if he comes back to do things related to his well stablished career when others can’t do the same. Besides, I think is prohibited to do so, right? So he’s doing things as any other soldier on vacation; taking care of his family and resting. I read somewhere that he didn’t even told his management company!! Rain don’t want any special treatment, he’s doing what he must do as a soldier. It must be hard for him cuz we know he’s used to do like twenty things at the same time!! But he’s with the boys now doing what they do!! 😀

Oh, good lord LOL! He’s not in the special forces, which means they’re referring loosely to the “special” forces up at the DMZ, and that train recruits, etc. As far as I know.

MMM…i just hope that while he*s in the army… he wont get hurt couse usually he aimes for the top so he might not kare if he gets hurt reaching that top…

Okay, let me take a deep breath and slow WAY down here. Maybe they are simply talking about the elite unit at the DMZ with which he is currently serving. After all, that unit is supposed to be one of the toughest units around, isn’t it?
Gah. I absolutely HATE not knowing enough Korean to be able to read these bloody articles straight from the sources myself.
Rain, Rain, Rain. Why can’t you be a wimpy star who serves in the civil service or something? Oh, wait. I hate stars like that. Never mind.

*Kekekekekeke*!………Terri these past two years of being a Cloud I’ve learned one thing for sure and that is….I’ve got a LOT to learn about all things Korean. (SMILES) The one thing I’ve come to realize is sometimes the whole “lost in translation” thing is real. Also, the descriptions in Asia may not be the exact same as how we describe things over here….or….maybe it’s exactly how we describe things over here. (SMILES)
It can be confusing and nerve wracking trying to figure out if certain descriptions should be taken literally or what. What would be good is if somebody did a documentary…..”A Day In The Life of a South Korean Soldier: A celebrity’s service to country – Private JiHoon Jung.”
Then at least some questions would be answered. (SMILES)……But, I seriously doubt if that happens.

Well, all I can say is that the term special forces was likely mistranslated, because NOW there is news on The Cloud about his being transferred to the Entertainment Division.
LOL. I give up trying to keep up. We’ll let you know what this news means after we find out.

I love how Rain is so humble and just a real down to earth person. Do not get me wrong I am sure there is some part of Rain that thinks about his career surviving once he gets out of the military at least a little. I am sure he is still taking care of business as much as he can. However, for some reason I believe Rain is sorta enjoying his low key life away from the spot light. I am not saying he wants to be in the military for the rest of his life, no way. But being in the military is allowing him to live a low key life for a while. It is allowing him to be a everyday Joe sorta speaking for a while. Also, he knows that he still has a powerful fan base. That we are waiting for him to grace us once again with his awesomeness.

I love how Rain is so real. Any other celebrity (especially if they were american) would have used this time to soak up publicity an such, Or try to put their name back in the spotlight.
See what Rain’s career is, is a rarity. Its definitely not a flash in the pan like a lot of other stars. He has dedicated fans and support. That’s why he can sit up in the army everyday relaxed knowing his fan base and support isnt wavering and that he’ll come back 10x better and more popular. I admire how he doesnt starve for attention like so many other people do. He’s a humble man serving his country, taking care of business, and not doing it the easy way.
He knows his ability and therefore knew sitting up processing paperwork in the army would not do him nor his body justice. He’s a hard worker and hard workers can’t just sit and chill just because they are a celebrity. H’es always gota be moving and on the go. I totally understand Jihoon.
Keep showing them how its done Mr. Jung.

I so agree with you! He is different from others and that what makes him special and amazing! he takes everything seriously and he gives his 110% in everything. 🙂
