Survey: Foreign fans pick favorite Korean actors
MANILA, Philippines – Arirang TV held an online survey among its foreign viewers and asked them to pick their favorite Korean actors.
Topping the list is actor Hyun Bin, who is described by Arirang TV as an “actor with a thousand faces.”
Hyun Bin started as an actor in Korea in 2003 but it was his role in the hit drama series “My Name is Kim Sam Soon” that brought him fame.
In 2010, he starred in “Secret Garden” which also became a hit and brought him numerous acting actors. Last year, Hyun Bin enlisted in the Korean military and is expected to be discharged in December this year.
Following Hyun Bin is young actor and singer Jang Geun Seuk. He started as a child actor in Korea in 1997.
Jang Geun Suk is best known for his role as a band leader in the drama “You’re Beautiful.” Last year, he released a single in Japan, which debuted at No. 1 spot on the Oricon chart.
Asian pop star Rain is third on the list. He is one of the few Korean stars who have successfully crossed over from singing to acting. He also debuted in Hollywood through the film “Speed Racer” in 2008. He enlisted in the Korean military last October.
Fourth on the list is Yoochun of boy band JYJ. Yoochun made his acting debut in 2005 through the TV series “Rainbow Romance.” In 2010, he starred in “Sungkyunkwan Scandal,” which won him the best new actor awards in the KBS Drama Awards and in the 47th Paeksang Arts Awards. Last year, he starred in “Miss Ripley.”
“Sungkyunkwan Scandal” will be aired in the Philippines this year on ABS-CBN.
Next on the list is Won Bin, who debuted in Korea in 1997. Won Bin became a household name through the drama “Autumn Fairy Tale,” which became a hit in Asia including the Philippines.
In 2010, he starred in “The Man from Nowhere,” which won him several best actor awards in Korea.
Following Won Bin is heartthrob Siwon, member of boy band Super Junior. Siwon is one of the most popular members of the boy band.
He made his debut as an actor in 2004 through the drama “Precious Family.” He got his leading role in 2007 through the drama “Legend of Hyang-dan.”
In 2010, he starred in “Oh! My Lady” and “Athena: Goddess of War” and last year, he starred in “Poseidon.”
The No. 7 most favorite Korean actor on the list is Lee Min Ho. He is best known for his starring role in the hit drama series “Boys over Flowers” in 2009.
The drama made Lee Min Ho a household name and brought him numerous endorsement deals.
In 2010, he starred in “Personal Preference” and last year, he essayed the leading role in “City Hunter,” which will also be shown in the Philippines this year on ABS-CBN.

Ohhh i can’t believed this that Rain is in # 3? & Lee Minho #7?.For me Rain is #1,Lee Minho #2 & Jang Geum Suk #3.Well,among the actors they mentioned here i think Rain is the most multiple actor that i know,Rain is a singer,dancer,model & a good actor.In his acting he can play everything what kind of a role like action,drama & comedy he is the BEST!!!And Lee Minho,even he is newcomer in showbiz industry compared to Hyun Bin & Jang Geum Suk there young age they started early in career,but i’ll like Lee Minho his acting & all his drama.Maybe if their is an online voting who is the most K-POP on top 10 i think Rain is in #1….bcoz Rain is #1 for me & to all his CLOUDS!!!

Well,according to Arirang survey Rain is #3?Oh i can’t believed it, but for me Rain is #1,#2 is Lee Minho & #3 is Jang Geum Suk.Rain is most talented among the actor they mentioned it.He is a singer,dancer,model & actor.In his acting he is multiple actor i can say bcoz he can do action like in NINJA ASSASSIN, LOVE TO KILL ,FUGITIVE PLAN B & SPEED FACER…He can play also in drama & comedy.Why LEE MINHO is in #7?Even he is newcomer actor that i compared to Hyun Bin & Jang Geum Suk but he is a good actor.If we can make on line voting i think RAIN is #1….

well,i have to said that i have see Jang Geun Suk is best known for his role as a band leader in the drama “You’re Beautiful.” Last year, and he good singer but i have see that drama too but some reason it was my taste enough to be place for Rain Rain all his K-drama regardless he always busy
what footage he was good in i will said A LOVE TO KILL
to ADMIT that Rain is better actor and number # 1 to ask for prior Rain is Best know Korean Artist , actor, singer and even give best sarge i just saying DON’T KILL ME here ….
TO ME RAIN IS THE BEST BUT I AGREED that everybody should be fair to get this number #1 place but Rain is only the best and i my farviote is only Rain too.. SORRY no bias here i just said the truth ..
know rain thrid place is good enought but i will want Rain number #1
coz he put to many effort to hardworking and who also do most of his stun TOO OH WELL…

Yes, I’ve seen several of these dramas as well. Of course Bi, is ALWAYS #1. However, I’m following more and more Lee Min Ho, he’s my #2 right now drama-wise. I wanna see where his acting career will go. Oh, but Won Bin….”The Man from Nowhere”….LOVED IT! That was a damned good movie.

I was lucky enough to see the dramas mentioned in this article, City Hunter, Secret Garden, Boys over Flowers, Personal Preference, Athena, Oh! My Lady, You are Beautiful and Hyun Bin, Siwon, Jang Geun, Won Bin and Yoochun , they are all excellent artists and beautiful dramas. Everyone deserves the first place. But my favorite Korean actor is RAIN. He is the best for me. “Full House”, “A love to kill you”, “Sang Doo let’s go to school”, “Fugitive Plan” B “, ahh! .. It’s great. 🙂
