Rain finishes basic training at boot camp
YEONCHEON, South Korea, Nov. 17 (Yonhap) — South Korean pop singer and actor Rain spent time with family members and friends Thursday after finishing five weeks of basic training at a boot camp here, the military said.
Rain, whose real name is Jung Ji-hoon, is one of the most popular male celebrities in South Korea and a well-known star in other Asian nations.
The 29-year-old singer joined the military on Oct. 11, leaving devoted fans in and out of the country in tears.
He was originally expected to have a day-off outside the boot camp in Yeoncheon, 62 kilometers north of Seoul, after finishing his first five weeks of basic military training.
He chose to stay inside the camp, however, and spent time with about 10 visitors, including his father, younger sister, a singer friend and entertainment agency workers, according to the 5th Army Division where Rain received the basic training.
After undergoing three more weeks of military training, Rain, who is now an Army private, is set to spend the remaining period of his 22-month-long military service as an assistant instructor of recruits at the same military camp.

I think the military did an excellent choice of career for Rain. He’s gonna be an amazing instructor and leader. His knowledge of martial arts, health, his experiences in life and state of mind to achieve goals will be really useful to new soldiers in training. I’ve always said that he’s light to me so now he’s gonna give light to those kids and that’s something you can’t teach unless you lived thru it.

I’m so happy to hear that Rain will be an assistant instructor for the rest of his time in the army. I was worried about where they would send him. The Man is AWESOME!!!! Thanks for sharing, this makes me smile.

i glad he can TEACH amd set EXAMPLE for a lot youngish men and women Rain is one of the teacher that everybody show always follow him natural at leading and influencing Rain is one of the MOST example himself teacher, mentor, in the military and beyond. is he BEYOUNG everything he do that why he dear himself to work harder his achievement make other even envy more … all i am asking that RAIN stay HEALTHY and took care his weigh i concern not sure if rain come back if he still him i mean to say as can dance like before his i ANKLE that death curious believe or not ….

Great! It’s nice to know where he will be, and that it’s close to home… He is such a natural at leading and influencing others (if through no other means than setting the example himself – through his actions and determination). He will be a great teacher, mentor, Hyung (big brother) to all the new recruits coming through – preparing them for what’s to come – both in the military and beyond.

BiAlamode, you are correct! “Today’s preparation determines tomorrow’s achievement.” (unknown) We often wonder why we are involved in certain projects, only to find out later that it was giving us the tools to use in future endeavors. I am happy that his natural leadership skills have taken him to the next level in the ROK army. Git it, Bi!!!!!
