[fan account] A big kid, a perfectionist, and a complete gentleman at his BIFF movie press con.

Belated, but awesome to read. Thanks for being our eyes and ears, huhu and karman! (*8th Cloud FYI: Again, you see where some of the membership moneys in our Cloud treasury goes to… voluntarily providing goodies for staff and media who are working an event, on Rain’s behalf, letting them know that we support his projects and that we care. And as you can see, DC Rain Gallery got in on the caring as well. Soooo terrific. Love it!)

Rain at The Busan International Film Festival 10/7/2011

I arrived Busan early morning of 7 October and hurried to the domestic terminal in the hope of greeting our prince – I did not know when and how he will be arriving Busan. The arrival hall was quiet, no reporters, no fans, so I began to wonder if I might had missed him.
After quite a while his manager appeared so I knew he would be arriving soon. And soon after I saw him walking out from the terminal. His hair was well set, his velvet like jacket made him look even more prince like. His face was totally cool and expressionless as he walked out right in front of me. I dared not even call out, as I was not sure his was upset that there weren’t people waiting for him, or he did not want to be disturbed.
Some fans followed him out and we all hurried our steps as he walked briskly outside to get into his car. My friend had a shaky photo:
The only programme we knew was the press conference for the movie in the afternoon. There was a big poster outside the venue.
With sheer luck my friends and I managed to get into the press conference. It was a happy one hour for us!
We watched the movie teaser first (which was great of course).
Then the director, our prince and the rest of the crew came on to the stage.
There was a Q&A session. Each member on the stage had a sign with a X (no) and O (yes) on each side, like this:
A question appeared on the screen, and each of them had to choose either X or O and then gave their reason. I really enjoyed this part, because our prince was just so lovely, sweet, cute and mesmerizing. Look at his various expressions:
There were about 7 questions but I only captured 3 on my phone…
1. During the movie shooting, there was a moment when I wanted to escape…
All the members put up X (no). Our prince explained that they had good team work, and they worked happily. They had a great time.
2. Amongst the people here, I am the person who seemed to have the greatest hardship…
The Director and our prince put up O (yes) while the other showed X.
Our prince claimed that since he was the youngest pilot amongst the male leads (the younger member in the crew was not playing the role of a pilot) he was like the guinea pig. He had to try all sorts of difficult tests/actions first. Of course he said this half jokingly. I thought he was particularly fond of joking with the actor sitting next to him and they must have shared some interesting moments:
3. I would like to work again with the Director and the actors/actresses in the movie….
I burst out laughing here when our prince, seeing the question on the screen, put out his X (no) sign before anyone else even moved. He couldn’t help laughing himself too and he was the only person who gave an X. [*Stephe’s Note: ROFLMAO! Oh no he didn’t! LOL! 😛 ]
His reason was simple. He said during the movie shooting he must have heard about 1000 times the other members saying that this was his last movie before he entered military service, and they all made fun of him about this. But he added at the end “But I had a great time”. From the smiles and the laughter we knew of course our prince was not serious with his X.
And the members continued to make fun of his pending military service. When each was asked to say a few words about the movie, Kim Song Ju said “Because this is Jihoon’s last movie…” and Li Hana said “… the importance is that Jihoon ssi comes back well…”
They certainly looked like a happy team having a great time during the past months.
Then it was individual photo shooting time. Look at our handsome, elegant and cheerful prince:
As he walked towards the centre of the stage, the MC said “this is the last time we see his hair before it’s cut”. To this, our prince covered his face with an embarrassed smile:
Someone requested our prince to give a salute. He said something and then the MC walked close to him and give him the microphone. Our prince said since he had to enter the military soon, he would get into trouble if he didn’t give a good salute. He asked the media to spare him with this request, but added that if they insisted, then he would do it.
The answer from the floor was that they still wished to see his salute. And we all gave loud cheers when he did it sooooo beautifully.
The salute told me a lot about our prince. When they had a group photo, they were asked to have a salute again. The first time our prince was not yet ready, when some others made their salute, our prince couldn’t control his laugh:
They did a group salute a second time, again our prince laughed:
It turned out that because they stood too close to each other, our prince’s arm touched with the actor next to him. And this tickled him off. He was such a big kid!
But the big kid was also a perfectionist. When they finally did it a third time, our prince wanted to make sure he did it right, and did it beautifully and professionally. When the MC counted “3”, he stepped backwards a little bit to give himself enough space. You could see he’s behind everyone else and this was how he looked:
I felt so proud of him and I cheered out loudly.
And the perfectionist prince was also a real gentleman. He showed the way for the ladies to go back stage, he hugged his other members and give way to them. Before he left the stage, he gave a deep bow to the audience.
His clouds also did a great job to support the event with very thoughtful, creative gift packs for the over 300 media reporters. The Cloud provided a refreshing fruit pack:
While others prepared a gift bag with “flight” related goodies:
(airplane cookie)
(neck cushion)
Mini blanket (and this proved to be very useful when I had to queue up overnight for the free concert!)
(folder)
It was a wonderful afternoon. Our prince was in top shape and good spirits. I will remember him like this. He might be going through tough training now, but I am sure he will be in top shape and will keep up his spirits.
